After more than a year I decided to upgrade to an S3 at least. Could have gotten the S4 but didn't want to deal with the payments and wait on development of roms, kernels, etc. Anyway I really enjoy helping people when I can and I will be keeping track of the Hercules threads even though I am moving on. Thanks for all the good times and to the devs such as Ptmr, rushing, cl3kener, mikey man, thdDude, whx, prbassplayer, and more I know I am forgetting at this time you guys are awesome . Thanks again and I will be seeing you guys around.

Well I had the S3 for two weeks and sold it for $310 so I went ahead and got the S4. Great phone so far I just rooted it and installed recovery on it today. Getting ready to flash Slim Bean on it and see how it goes.

Cool man, at least you don't have to worry about upgrading... for a while anyway. Looks like some pretty cool ROM/Kernels are popping up. Enjoy.
I might get the one for a $100 just don't know yet no external SD or removable battery bothers me a little plus I love my Hercules:thumbup:

The only good things about the Htc one are the design and front facing speakers. The camera is overrated and the lack of a removable battery that you can't exchange turned me away. Not to mention you can not add additional storage. That was a huge factor of why I didn't get it myself. I need at least 48 gb at this time for all my music, videos, and my kids games. Thought about the Note 2 but decided to pick the S4 for now as tmobile told me that most likely the Note 3 will be out in September so if I want I can trade up for it then. Don't know if I will or not I will have to see how good the Note 3 really is when that time comes. For now though I am happy with the S4. It has great features, a powerful battery, nice display, etc. Development for it is growing as well. It has cm, slim bean, aokp, pacman, like the rest of them and other custom roms. Already has overclocking kernels for both cpu and gpu. So it's coming along at a good pace for a device that's less than 2 months old. Anyway, I appreciate peoples comments in this thread and will continue to help anybody if I can . Thanks.

Hi all. Just bought an S3, coming from an HTC One X. I miss my one X alot, but it didn't have the sd slot and battery that I needed. Other than that it was a great phone. Now I have an S3, great phone, but man Touchwiz is crapple in my opinion. There are some good and bad thing about it. So, I'm thinking about rooting and ROMing my phone up. I haven't been in the root an ROM business for about a year, so I feel a bit noobish again.
Any preferences on your favorite ROMs? I'm looking for something smooth and clean and not so bulky. Things are easy to get to and has some user fluidity to it.

+1 for this ROM. I came to this from a Galaxy Note. Both great but I sorta miss the bigger screen. This is a better phone though for sure. Its real easy to get this set up the way you like but I recommend you read up on Tony Starks all in one thread before getting into anything. Y'Know just to dust the cobwebs off haha. Happy flashing!!! Hmmm that sounded better in my head then it looks in text haha....

I just bought a S3 as well (first non iOS phone) and am very happy. I went with Kyan's ICS ROM since it seems more stable than the leaked JB ROMs. Works great for me, not a single issue yet (following the instructions to the letter in the noob thread and his site).

ALL are obviously smooth and clean but you need to find out for yourself.

Lately I've been noticing a lot of developers saying that they are going to quit developing for samsung due to the lack of support they are are offering to the community. Do you think this will affect the releases of ROMs or user fixes to the point of not being worth it to buy this device? Thanks.
The community will try to cook rom for all samsung devices, but when these are not very popular or will become old will be abandoned

Yes, i`am convinced it will be supported well. The GN2 will be even a bigger success as the GN1 i believe. Getting mine in 5 days
I think there will be some type of good support.. I mean it's still pretty early in the release... And I'd still buy it if it's not supported by a lot of roms.. Doesn't take away of how much of a beast the phone is

If anyone has the OG Note, even that device doesn't have amazing support. At least we have CM tho...of which I'm running PA 2.17 CM10. However, as long as the GN2 receives CM10, all will be fine. I'm torn with how I feel about CM possibly abandoning Sammy...the GN2 is really all about features, that's what makes it better. CM just neuters spen features anyways.
I personally am excited for just having the GN2

I have played with the idea of getting the Sprint version when it comes out. But, I would still work on my HTC stuff too. Only problem is that I'm not up for an upgrade and I am not buying this thing right out lol so we will see how it goes.

I recently bought a nexus 7 for school, and i'm an avid follower of my devices developement since i had my galaxy s vibrant. It is SOOO nice getting the update withing a week of google releasing it, i have 4.2 and it is PHENOMINAL!!! We the s3 user base are what.. 4 months past 4.1.1 release, then there is 4.1.2, then 4.2... um two versions behind and no firm commitemnt of release. I used cm10 nightlies for months and the bugs were exausting, but i respect the work they do, excellent but there are nevertheless many bugs, hence the long nigtly list of changes. PURE up to DATE android is sublime.
And quad core w/ 2gb RAM... that was just a dream for s3 users.
I will be selling my s3... buying the 16 gb... forever more be up to date and loving the android expereince... and probably come out with a small profit
no haters please there are plenty of those threads, I would like this to be a support thread for those making the jump from s3 to nexus 4. welcome to the fold!
While I'm glad you are happy, I do have to question this kind of mentality.
I love having my S3, but I would of gotten any other new phone. The S3 just had a significant improvement over my Vibrant.
However, going from S3 to Nexus, while some perks.. I don't see the reason for all the hype. You're still talking about a phone just slightly above on par with the S3. All for what? You'll be getting the same updates, just one gets them faster. It runs about the same speed, or at least from what you can tell without an app.
So.. What's the necessity? What's the reason for such rampant rushing to the newest and best if it is just a slight increase?
Seems to be a mindset that should be avoided, not praised.

I'm sorry but its attitude like this that causes buyers remorse. You should spend a few days in the gnex forums before you quickly realize its no different. Once the gnex got jb people were itching for the next thing which was 4.1.2. Then when they got that they are irxhing again for 4.2. Catch my drift. I say get a device you are happy with and satisfied with the version of android. If you worry about updates you're always going to be worrying and not be satisfied. My 2 cents.

You forgot to mention its made by lg which has a piss poor track record for quality, google is already including bumpers with the nexus because the glass back has been very easy to crack. I haven't read 1 review yet saying the n4 is much better than anything else. As for JB updates, between frosty, doc's Sprint port, and Xquzit there are plenty of great choices already.
For me personally JB doesn't have anything in it that I don't have with ics. Ok, I don't have the very latest version of google now but other than that what am I missing?

and this (white version):

This way, I can preserve the slimness of the phone and I don't have to mask up its design while making sure I have extra juice when I need it. I actually love the design of this phone. I think it's one of the best looking phones I've ever had.
That power bank is also the highest mAh I could find while maintaining the rather small footprint it has compared to larger power banks. I can keep the phone in my pocket along with that and barely feel the difference. It actually helps keep my phone from turning on its side while in my pocket haha
Nice!

i have downloaded mc3...but my question is does MOAR MB1 have any app can be multwindowed? Does MC3?
Congrats! Welcome to the S3 family! Agree, that battery is enormous but you'll get days and days out of it, great for trips and when you're away from an outlet for a while. Like freeza though, I prefer the sexy and slim look of the phone so I either carry an external portable charger or a spare battery (original 2100 mAh one).
Yeah bought my gs3 last week off craigslist, perfect time with lte popping up in my area! This is a HUGE upgrade over the E4GT!

I have the blue sg3 as well. It looks great with strongsteve's odexed blue rom. Myself I like to wait for an official release and not use leaked versions. I'm sure as soon as Steve gets an official he will start the transition.

I'm running the leak and personally its running better than MB1, some bugs are fixed and it seems over all smoother. I think Samsung finally got Jellybean right on our phone, just hoping the bring a couple miniscule features with the next update. You'll love the S3. In my personal opinion for everyday tasks its excellent. Gaming used to lag a ton on some games but now I'm running ktoonzes (spell check) 4/11 build and over clocked to 1.67 GHz and gaming honestly could not be better. Now I have the complete package. Yea the chip set in the s4 is gonna have some serious fun pushing the pixels in that phone, there's a considerably higher amount vs our s3. I think the power in the S4 is awesome (I love the Adreno 320 GPU for graphics and gaming) but otherwise our phone can and will do the exact same thing (well maybe like 97%).
