My imate pda2k aka blueangel hangs up. This happened after i pulled the mem card out of the unit while still in the middle of the process.
I tried restarting the unit but it happens that it keeps hanging up after entering windows mobile.
Its blue light on the left is blinking as well.
tried hard resetting of the unit with no avail. tried the modified version of resetting it and still no luck.
I have windows mobile 6.5.1 .
Would there be any chance of repairing it or is it already bricked?
Before taking it to some tech man, could you have any idea on how to fix this?
could you provide a little more information?
what is "the process" in your 1st sentence?
what is "the modified version of resetting"?
it is in the process of changing a theme from default to custom one. then i unplugged the memory card out of the pda .
can anyone help me?
Flash Blue Angel/Qtek 9090 from SD Card
Hi,
I always thought myself pretty techincal, but for the first time in my life I'm going to have to accept I'm doing an English degree and not advanced programming.
Exactly one week ago I decided to load my Qtek 9090 with the theme (as I thought at the time) of Windows 6.5. This, stupidly, was not the case. I copied, for some unknown reason, Enterbl.exe my SD Card and opened...Well, I think think we all know what happens now: 'Serial V2.08'.
This screen doesn't change, no matter what I do. I haven't flashed any rom to it, and solely clicked on Enterbl.exe (Even though this was a horrendous thing to do.) A week later I'm still none the wiser.
I recently bought this device of ebay, and so have no usb cable for it,and so if I need to 'flash the rom' I can only do this via a 1g 'Memorex SD card'. I have researched many forums, and a lot of have said I can, others have said I can't. I can't get a header for the sd card as I don't have a cable or dock.
I do really like this device and don't like seeing it stuck in the serial bootscreen. I do hope someone can help. If they can I am more than willing to donate money to them for their time.
I look forward to your responses.
(I was running Windows Mobile 2003SE - Compact framework 3.5

I can't hard reset..can soft reset..but this brings up no screen apart from Serial V2.08.

Infact, if I someone can get this sorted I'll pay the programmer £30 (the price I paid for the phone on ebay) through paypal.

This may be a silly question, but did you try to take out the SD card out of the phone and then remove the battery/soft reset? If Enterbl is present in the SD card and there is anything pointing to that exe in your device, maybe removing it would fix it.
Updated amount offered....
Hey mate!
Cheers for the quick reply, unfortunately I deleted the file off the sd card straight away after the error to see if this was the case; unfortunately this was done to no avail!
I must add that there is no sd card in the device at the moment and no sim card..
So, all I have is a device that just has a screen stuck on Serial V2.08. No other screen appears, no matter what variation of keys I press:
Power+hard reset
Camera+Record+Hard reset+power
etcetera, etcetera
If people want to discuss this with me using a different medium other than on the forum please email me (Nick) at [email protected]
I would like, simply, just to explain my issue again:
1)Placed bootloader.exe on my sd card
2)Placed sd card into my device
3)Stupidly clicked it
4)All that remains is the screen "Serial V2.08" (No other screen can be entered.
All I want to do is update the rom using a 'Memorex 1Gb SDcard I don't mind if it's the Windows Mobile 2003Se rom or the updated Windows Mobile 5 or 6.5, etc.
If any one can tell me how to do this WITHOUT USING ANY CABLE TO A PC I'd be greatly appreciated. (I can't get the header for the SD card as I don't have the cable)
If someone can give me a good step by step I'll actually now give them £35 (Around $50) via paypal (more than I paid for the phone itself) -I would love to have WM6.5 rom as well (cheeky I know)
I look forward to your responses..
Regards

yep, that should probably do the trick, taking out the sd card and performing a soft reset, if then, you don't get any further than the 4 colour screen, a hard reset.
and while many of us would like sd card flashing, it is not really working for the BA, unless you have a master device and a mtty connection through a cradle. so i guess, if you are willing to spend money on a solution to flash your device, you should probably invest 3pounds in a usb cable and just flash the regular way.
i received my additional usb cable today. it was a usb cable, with an AC-usb adapter, and a car charger usb adapter for 10eur, so, what is that, like 6 pounds?
another advantage is, ordering on ebay will be faster than waiting for someone to code something. hope this was helpful. if you can import from germany, i can send you ebay links for cheap cables.
Unfortunately, Chef's right. You are indeed better off getting a cable of eBay, which will cost you faaaar less. (not that I wouldn't appreciate a $50 cup of coffee though )
I could try to make an image of a prepped SD card for you to use, but I am uncertain if this would even work. Let me see what I can do when I get home...
In response to Chef_Tony
I understand I can order the cable from ebay, but I feel, even if it is more expensive, that it'd be a worthwhile resource to have online, for people that may be in the same situation....and don't own a cable.
I will leave this up for two days, if it can't be solved at all, then I will just have to order a cable; I would still be more amazed if this could be resolved...It'd make me prouder, anyway, rather than backing down and getting a cable.
There must be a way to flash the Blue Angel/Qtek 9090 from the SD Card (not using one single cable ) and I'm more than happy to spend £35 on it to see if done. I can't do it myself, unfortunately, but feel there must be someone out there that can, or, that has succesfully completed a full flash from an sd card to the Blue Angel...
So, for two days, I'll keep this post here, if it's not resolved and can't be done..then at least all owners know, without a cable, there is ABSOLUTELY know way this process can be performed...

As I said, let me see what I can do...
OK, I made the card with a 2003 image. Now, I simply have to figure out a way to rip the card and make an image out of it and we'll be in good shape...
Image Ready.
The attached download is a torrent, which I am seeding myself. Open it and get. I will seed this for only one week. You will need Winhex and a 1 GB card (you really need a 64 MB card but this is the smallest I had. The torrent is an image of a 1GB card and you will need WinHex to remount it (I think). I will try to get my hands on a different card (if I can) to make the download smaller, but I cannot promise you anything.
Give it a go and I will be waiting for the bounty (when it works )
I response to the torrent
Believe me, if you manage to have fixed this problem you deserve a medal, not simply £35. I'm still waiting for the torrent to download (the fluctuating speeds mean it jumps from 0.2k to 136kb every 10 secs)
I've downloaded winhex....is this process of remounting simply a case of selecting the winhex file and selecting my sd card? D:?
--
'File'
'Restore Image'
'Selecting winhex file'
??
If you could just inform me briefly how to mount this image using winhex I'd
be extremely grateful...
studentpaps
Right
I now have the image file and winhex (full version)
I am absolutely clueless...I hasten to add.....
Right, let me tell what I'm doing step by step
1)Open the BASDimg winhex file.
2)The program opens and asks:
'write sectors immediately to disk'
'Export sectors into a raw headerless image file'
(Which one do I click?)
I've tried the 'write sectors immediately to disk'
When I have a look on the 1gb memory disk it just shows sectors 001, etc.. there doesn't seem to be an img file.
Place into my device and nothing happens...I press camera, power and reset...still nothing...in fact... ever since I clicked the bootloader.exe on the device I haven't seen a single change of screen from the Serial v2.08...
I'm completely bewildered by all this....
I know I'm completely wasting your time with all this (you will get rewarded in the end, I suppose) but what should I be clicking on and what files should be on my sd card, so that when I restart my blue angel device it'll be recongized?
Basically and simply I'm asking what to do when I'm in winhex to save the image file to my sd card.
Seriously, thanks for all your help so far...you've been brilliant..even though my malcontent has got me nowhere..
Ok, just got a message on my blue angel stating 'Rom size not enough'
The final outcome
Finally I've got the outcome: Buy a cable
I thank you all for the help you've given me.....
Unfortunately my device just brings up a screen:
SD Download
Sections = 3
Not Allow Update!
Oh
I forgot to say, for all your hard work I am going to donate something to you just for some of the work you've put in to help..even though it was unsuccesful. At least I have an answer....
I've not bought an xda IIs cable and am now looking for a stable unbrickable windows mobile 5 rom. I'll create a new thread for this and won't keep bothering you,mate...hahaha
Thanks again
Studentpaps, London, UK
and i already answered to your new thread
i think you will like the roms that i offered you there, although none of those are wm5. talking about bricks is bad luck by the way
and it is not the rom that "bricks" the device but mistakes made while flashing, it could also happen with an official rom, if for instance, flashed from windows vista/7 without taking care of the difficulties that come with those OSs first. the blueangel is afaik not really "brickable". most BAs will always be saved, even if they look stuck in bootloader mode or splash screen, but reading how to flash first will save you any trouble and risk.

So I was in the same boat you are in. Nothing could read the card except for my Nokia n97 mini. It recognized the card as "locked" and prompted for a password. I bypassed the prompt and went to the file manager. From there it let me format the card and it is back to normal. See, Symbian is good for something after all!
PS: I tried the same process with an E71 and had the same successful results. All recent Symbian phones should work as it appears they can handle the encryption and password. The card is now happily back in my HTC EVO.

correct. Once the card is formatted for the phone, it can only be used with the phone.
Huh? You cant even format it after using it on the phone? Maybe Windows will fail to format it but there has to be a way to get it formatted again. They can't brick your card.

No , you can't format the sd card any more after using it in your phone .
you can only use it on your wp7 phone .
and that could be real expensive if you brick your class 6 32GB sd card .
More than likely there will be an app or tool to fix this in the short run. Never say never around XDA.

That would be my first guess.
I guess what is surprising me is for how long the phone has been in preview and in devs hands, why in the hell are so many features that are probably in the phone or are questioned to be in it, not being found already? God the first thing I do when I get a new gizmo is to search every nook and cranny of every option and setting. A good example is this and how NOBODY has tried it yet with a replaced microSD from an HD7, and how long it took for somebody to find a way to add your own ringtone. (Its right there in the Zune Hub!?! Who Knew!?!) lol
Seriously If I had a device at any point before/at the release, I could have easily found answers to a lot of questions that have been asked. Sadly with real life not landing me a job as a website tech reviewer or dev I get pushed to the back of the line. Not to toot my own horn but I really do feel like a fairly high quality QA person. I may not be able to write my own code, but I can poke and play with yours till I find all the bugs and all the features.
Anyone with a loner HD7 wanna throw it my way for test and analyzing purposes until I can get my hands on my own Sprint HTC 7 Pro? I can probably provide some really useful feedback and quality video that could easily rival a lot of these sites.

The reason is because it hasn't released to the USA yet. I have noticed that other areas lack the adventurous spirit.

Little bit off topic, but I consider my self to be a fiddler trying to find out every little option. I truely cannot find anything in zune on how to set ringtones?!
Where!? and How?!
In the tech video somewhere a day or 2 ago the guy said the option was within the zune hub. Of course no showing or saying how. Is there not a longpress on a song or the 3 dots option anywhere you can see?
Sitting stuck in the US really stinks. I wish Microsoft would give me a dang job lol. Need to get in touch with some more contacts.
That's because the setting doesn't exist. You can only use the ringtones that are on the phone right now.

Exactly. Geez, why are people refusing to believe this, it's a well known fact that at the moment you cannot set your own ringtones.
As for replacing the SD card in a HD7, been there done that. Works great, however HTC's WP7 hardware really sucks, so unless you're a diehard fan (or get them free) go with Samsung or LG. LG is actually the better choice in many aspects (just not, unfortunately, when it comes to hardware/feel).

Ok XP can only see one partition on a removable USB but if change the USB driver to a fixed disk driver then XP will see it as a hard drive then we can have lay down multiple partitions as we like. Now open regedit and goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\USBSTOR
and double click on USBSTORE and you see a subkey below it, select the first subkey below USBSTORE and right click and select Copy Key Name
Here is mine, yours maybe different.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\USBSTOR\Disk&Ven_Generic&Prod_ USB_Flash_Disk&Rev_0.00
Now we need only need this part:
USBSTOR\Disk&Ven_Generic&Prod_USB_Flash_Disk&Rev_0.00
Copy and paste it temporarily into notepad.
You will now need this driver. http://www.xpefiles.com/viewtopic.php?t=92
Unpack it to a folder on your desktop. Inside the folder is the file cfadisk.inf. You need to open this file and scroll down to you see the line %Microdrive_devdesc% = cfadisk_install, specific data
Now you need to replace all lines %Microdrive_devdesc% = cfadisk_install, specific data with
the line you copied from your registry like so.
%Microdrive_devdesc% = cfadisk_install,USBSTOR\Disk&Ven_Generic&Prod_USB_Flash_Disk&Rev_0.00
There could be more lines so replace all and save the file.
Goto Device Manager and click on disk drives. You see your USB listed, dbl click on it and goto the driver tab and click update driver and install from a specific location and choose the driver to install and click on Have Disk and browse to the cfadisk.inf file your modified driver on your desktop and force that to replace your existing driver. It might ask you to reboot. You should now have your USB showing as Local Disk

I used this to make more partitions on a usb stick , maybe you can use this to make a local Disk of it and then make a new partition on it .
unfortunately I do not have XP anymore but diskpart under windows7 does not detect the media itself so it cant do a diskpart in the first case.
Its like the media does "not exist" anymore.
I really don't want to throw away my 16GB and my 32GB card and am still trying out solutions here.

The SD card cannot be reused to prevent piracy and information threft.
If you have business information on you SD card (say, emails, PPT/Word/XL documents), you don't want anyone to be able to just remove the SD card and use it in another phone. It's well known that WP7 uses a Raid-like setup for storage to show SD+Internal storage as one continuous unit.
Why people think you'd be able to just remove the SD card and view it in another computer/phone is beyond me... It's like common sense has gone AWOL these days...
Making the card unreadable improves security. Perhaps this isn't a big deal to many, but until you have a phone stolen/lost with confidential infromation on it, you don't know what it feels like to know that the informatin is safe and inaccessible to others.
Also, it's totally random which SD cards will work correctly in WP7 devices. The cards that do work are only shipped in bulk (to manufacturers, most likely), and aren't available for consumer purchase.
It's totally possible that a card may work right now, but as it ages it will start to fail and you will be forced to remove it.
Paying $200 for a 32GB Class 6 card right now isn't even worth the risk.
SD Card Size and Class has nothing to do with compatibility. It has more to do with random read/write speeds, which aren't the same as the card's throughput (i.e. Class).
That is probably why there aren't ay 32 GB WP7 devices available at the moment. If you want more storage you can either:
1. Buy a 16GB device and deal with it if it's enough for you.
2. Buy a 16GB device and wait for WP7 compatible SD Cards to become available.
3. Don't buy a phone and wait for 32GB phones are available (and maybe by the time the WP7-compatible SD cards are available and you can get up to 64GB storage).
4. Wait until a manufacturer releases a phone with 32GB+ NAND Flash Memory in it.
IMO, Microsoft should have dictated NAND Flash memory. SD cards do nothing but create support issues, and allow the manufacturers to skimp a lot (by using the lowest class cards available, among other things).

The more I read on the WP7 and its "expandable" storage the more I am convinced that MS has implemented RAID0 stripping to provide a higher bandwidth/speed increase in I/O and disregard data integrity error checking. This leads me to believe that WP7's performance on a slower media is horrendous (MicroSD cards), and without a doubt it is a cost saving for manufacturers because no one in their mind is going to pay a premium price for high capacity NAND storage.
Hi folks of XDA! I am in a bit of a pickle right now with my micro SD card that I purchased a while back from ADATA.
Long story short, I purchased a 64GB micro SD card from ADATA due to my needs of a little more storage than what this phone offered. I ended up using the micro SD card as adoptable storage as I wanted to be able to use both my internal and micro SD card for 'everything'. It worked great until the night before I was suppose to go on a cruise: music wasn't being downloaded as it said it had insufficient storage space, and I couldn't take pictures with the camera app because it couldn't find the storage. I got frustrated as it was showing I had over half of the storage available on my SD card and I just did not have time to meddle with this problem; it was late at night and I simply needed my phone for taking pictures & videos & music.
I ended up doing a 'no no' and ripped the micro SD card out of my HTC One M9 without formatting or anything (literally just popped it out of my phone), restarted the phone, and surprisingly nothing was corrupted; everything on my phone was still working. But not surprisingly, the micro SD card got a little weird where when I put it back into my phone, it did not recognize it and my phone wanted me to format the micro SD card. Fair enough. I did that and it said it could not be formatted ("Volume partition disk: 179,32 public' failed..."). Fair enough.
I went onto my Windows 10 PC, slotted my micro SD card into the adapter that it came with, slid the little notch away from the 'lock' on the adapter, and my computer says it needs formatting. I try formatting it but all it keeps saying is that it's 'write protected'.
I slid the notch on the adapter to the lock, and away, as well as kept it in the middle; nothing helped, it kept saying it was write protected no matter which part it was on.
I tried using scotch tape to cover it as some people on the internet found it to work when their slid mechanism broke. Still did not work.
Tried using another adapter, and it still said it's write protected.
Resorted to using the DiskPart technique via CMD; everything shows up, the micro SD card status is online and disk 1, 58GB, 0 free space.
Tried going further into the steps (i.e. "attribute disk clear readonly" & another way, "select partition"), and it says it could not be recognized due to fatal error of hardware.
Would anyone happen to be in this situation before and was able to get their micro SD card fixed or knows a fix for me? I'll be happy to give you more in-depth detail if needed. Thank you!
Moomoomania
Did you figure it out? I've had similar issue. I had to insert and remove multiple times until my PC recognized it... I think when I booked to Linux it worked though.
That sounds to me like the SD card is toast. I think it's built into the cards themselves that if the controller is going, it goes into read-only mode so that you can get your data off of it. I had an SD card bite it the first day I owned it a few years ago in a camera. I would use either a Linux VirtualBox or Linux Live Disc to copy your data to your computer and buy a new card.

Also, "booked to Linux"?

That sounds to me like the SD card is toast. I think it's built into the cards themselves that if the controller is going, it goes into read-only mode so that you can get your data off of it. I had an SD card bite it the first day I owned it a few years ago in a camera. I would use either a Linux VirtualBox or Linux Live Disc to copy your data to your computer and buy a new card.

Fortunately everything important like photos were already backed up into the cloud and my micro SD card has life time warranty so I guess I'll have to end up using it. AHHH cost of shipping & time from my impatience with removing the micro SD card. My hunch is that the encryption that occurred when I used the micro SD card as an adoptable storage may have ultimately screwed it up... ://
If anyone have any clues to how to fix the problem or would like me to try things with it, feel free to post a reply

I've tried using Linux but it's not working.
I'm having Two SD-cards collecting the dust as yours .
Please reply if you find any solution for revering those adoptable sd-cards back to working.
Thank U....
The nature of solid state memory is that any errors causes a complete failure. You will never recover the sd card. Return it to the manufacturer for a replacement.

Hey! Sorry for the late reply (school exams) but mine is still collecting dust and will be probably forever. For the price that I've paid (~$30), it's not worth to replace and it's better if I just purchased a new SD card. Time + effort to get a new one is far too great for me to care about getting a replacement.

Oh I see. Fortunately for me right now, I am not using a custom ROM. I've been sticking to stock HTC and will proceed to do so until HTC stops giving out updates. I am not quite sure what you could do except try to manage with the 32GB like me by deleting all unnecessary apps, putting all your photos and videos into Google photo, and caching music that you find yourself listening to the most these days. So far it has been working well for me to the point where I don't find it necessary to have an SD card anymore! Perhaps it's a different case for you.
Hey fellas,
This is very strange. I used my phone for a couple of days prior to rooting, I listened to a couple audio books and a fair amount of music. After I rooted the device, now my phone thinks the SD card is getting removed and plugged back in every couple of seconds. I cant even copy a 5mb mp3 file off of it before halfway through it will get unmounted (and then remounted). Any ideas? I have taken the card out, put it in two machines, formatted it, checked it for errors on both and neither computer has a hard time with it....
I am getting quite frustrated here...
Well does anybody at least have any suggestions to where I can start to look for whats going on? I am in the process of wiping my device and starting over

This has been a problem with a lot of S8+ for quite a while. If you Google it you will find blogs and chatboards with loads of information on the problem back to around June of this year. Seems like Samsung doesn't really care about it looking at the conversations going on. They know about the problem but haven't made any fixes for it.
My S8+ does this occasionally also. I have to remove the sdcard and reseat it in the holder and put it back into the phone. I saw several posts of using a older/slower card. I got an older 32gb type 6 card and it worked MUCH better than my class 10 cards.
I also have the problem of my computers not being able to moves files to or from my phone related to the sd card problem. This has happened before and after rooting my phone.
I know this isn't much of an answer, but resetting your phone back to stock isn't going to fix it. We need Samsung to do something to repair the problem. Good luck.
Take care,

Okay I'm not even sure what I had done when I had done this but when I plug in my phone (Moto G Stylus 2020 XT-2043-4) into my computer. It displays internal shared storage like normal and two SD card storage which is not normal. I've had this phone for a while bought it from Metro PCS when it first came out. I rooted it then, i switched phones for a while came back to this one reset it and rooted it again. They are entangled (adding a file to one shows up in the other as well). I find this very strange and bizarre and I'm wondering if anyone else is ran into this situation any help or insight would be fantastic.
What's the issue if it writes/reads normally?
Macro entanglement?
So far so good don't have any issues. Didn't know if this was an issue that might manifest later with the solid States or a software bug from a flashing mishap. I am curious and I like to understand why
My guess is it's just the way the PC represents the drives.
I guess if you're really concerned do a low level format of the card, then reformat the SD card in the phone. That way you know the card's not doing it... just backup the data first
Play with it long enough if something isn't screwed up... it will be.
