[Q] downgrade/original - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

guys, got my self all confused here, rooted, still s-onn to jelly bean, want stock rom back, do i need to downgrade or what!!

You could flash a ROM similar to stock, like Android Revolution HD. You would still be rooted and debloated, but mostly stock-ish.

Stock roms available here:

[Q] Stock google roms

Sorry if this is a noob question but I did quite a bit of searching and could not find anything.
Is it possible to install stock google roms on a DZ? I would really like to install the latest version then have it update itself by OTA. My phone is rooted and currently running Cyanogen Mod 7.1.
Thanks!
Id stick with cm7 from my personal experience its close to stock android Rome and it runs remarkably well
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App

Yes, it is possible to run stock android roms on a DZ, there are several different variants out there right now. Just for example there's virtuous g-lite (look in the dev section or on virtuous' homepage) which is currently on version 2.3.5 I believe. A more up-to-date rom seems to be this one: 2.3.7 (please read the op, some issues still remain).
Though, as far as I know, you will not be able to receive OTAs as these are pushed to your phone by your carrier. If you want to receive OTAs on a DZ you will have to revert back to a stock sense rom.
Any ROM that works on the G2 works on the Desire Z (as long as you are rooted and S-Off, which you obviously are if you are on CM7). So if you want, just go to the Developement section and you will find pre-rooted versions of the G2 AOSP ("stock Google") ROMs. But make sure the ROM is pre-rooted. If you install an "official" ROM that is not pre-rooted, you will lose root, and need to go through the whole process again.

[Q] Put T-Mobile G2 back to stock Android

My G2 is rooted and I flashed Virtuous Sense 3.0 on it. It's kinda sluggish and sometimes it hangs. How can I flash the stock ROM back? Please help...
Let me ask a few questions...
What were you running previously?
Did you not do a backup prior to flashing a new ROM?
Do you want to go back to full stock, s-on, out of the box?
Thanks for the reply. It was stock, S-ON, out of the box before the OTA update to 2.3.4, then I downgraded to 2.2 to gain root, then flashed VS 2.0 first, then 3.0, and performance-wise, they're the same to me and hangs once or twice a day. My backup is now a VS 2.0. HTC Sense to me is good, but I can live without it. Just want my G2 back to stock, it was GREAT!
Search around the Dev section, if I recall there are some pre-rooted stock ROMs on there. Or you can just make the jump to CM7, maybe to CM9 (or CM9 based) ROM. I'm running Andro V13 and it runs well. As far as sense ROMs, I tried out Revolution HD for a few hours and was by far the smoothest Sense 3.5 ROM I've had.

Check out the dev section, I have a rom called g2slim. Its the newest stock ota update ripped clean with battery saving mods and speed tweaks. It has a ton of free ram at boot too, all those stupid lil apps take like 2mb ram each. I know it don't sound like a lot, but they add up!

[Q] How to install Android Revolution HD 7.0.4

I have rooted DHD with ace hacker kit. Now i have installed trickdroid and I wanna to get back on sock again but still to stay rooted. My DHD is shiped with GB 2.3 and is not compatible with radio S-off. I was looking on forums and i cant find how to instal this rom. I need help.
go to stickies, find the list of ROMs, kernels, etc, and search for stock. There should be prerooted stock ROMs. Just flash them like any other (e.g. trickdroid). If you're on the Inspire 4g, search for "super stock" in the inspire 4g section. That's the latest stock AT&T rom, prerooted and tweaked.
If you're wishing to isntall ARHD 7.0.4, then install them like trickdroid.
I would personally recommend experimenting with different ROMs available. Check my sig
tnx.. ill do that

Rooted Transition from 4.1.1 to 4.2

Hi guys,
I have had my GNex on 4.1.1 stock and rooted for a while now. I never bothered updating to 4.1.2 didnt seem much different than 4.1.1.
I like stock, it seems faster to me with franco kernel. So now that 4.2 is out I want to update. Can soemone please direct me to the link for a stock 4.2 rom that I can install with CWM? odexed is prefered (speed). I looked in the development section, but they are all "branded" roms. Im looking for plain google.

Should i upgrade to official 4.2 from 4.1?

I just got a One X from a friend and its requesting me to upgrade to Android 4.2 and currently runs Android 4.1.. The reason im asking this is because that i will probably end up flashing a custom rom, but for now ill just stick to the official rom BUT if i upgrade to 4.2 would that make it harder for me to flash a custom recovery and go custom rom?
Update to 4.2. You won't have issues rooting or flashing custom roms.
