Hey guys !!
I'm planning on buying a Xperia SP (can get it at a good price).
What device is it related to for ROM development ?
Is there a dedicated section here for this phone ? (i couldn't find it though...)
Does any of you know ?
Thanx !!

Search functions exist for a reason here. Especially the "Type To Find Your Device..." function next to Search one.
Don't you ever miss something in your life ?
Thanks for pointing me the search function, i've been using forums for AGES without knowing that function existed...JK of course...
Btw, i typed Xperia SP in the search box, found a ton of links to the Xperia S section, found a link to the Xperia SP wiki, and totally missed the Xperia SP dedicated forum.
So i scrolled the entire first page, and couldn't find the dedicated forum too.
And finally landed here to ask some help.
Wouldn't have opened a new thread if i had found it by myself...

This would be my first ever WM phone, so I really have no clue what Im doing. But I know I want to change the appearance of the phone, I have not a clue where to start. I was wondering if you guys would be so kind to help me from beginning to end. Or atleast give me a link to where I would be able to find such information. A list of recommendations would be much appreciated.. As well as any programs that you'd recommend to enhance XE1 ...the And ill be forever greatfull.. THHHHHANKS
Best way to learn this stuff is read read read. Go to the ROM section and read all the Sticky's, HardSPL your device first. Then you will be able to install/Flash custom ROM's. I use itje's v7.1, works great.

thanks, now would that be the same thing as installing Touch X ULTIMATE ver.6.1? 'cuz i think that looks pretty cool.. told you imma newb.
Yes, install HardSpl first on your X1. Then you are free to install any custom ROM.
Make sure you read the entire thread before installing any custom ROM. Most have small bugs. The thread's contents usually give the solutions to any problems.
Good Luck

This has been asked before, and more than once. For sure.
I'd suggest you to read THIS THREAD FIRST before anything
Rule 1: read and search
Rule 2: read and search
Rule 3: read and search
Regarding your question, my particular suggestion would be to start playing with your phone "stock" as it comes by default: get used to panels, Windows Mobile, etc...
Then, after a week or so (or when you get bored of all the included stuff), go to the Panels Library sticky post @ themes & apps subforum, Norti's apps collection sticky post @ main subforum, and the ROMs Library sticky post @ ROM development subforum
oh... I feel soooo unconfortable writing this, knowing for sure this has been written before...
MOOOOOODS ???

Really now, I know it annoys people when someone (a noob usually) demands a certain thing and that was already discussed on the forum. Sometimes it annoys me as well
BUT
PEOPLE, the search function on the forums IS CRAP. IT does NOT compare to a google search where you get only the interesting bits, depending on the rating of a link and so on. And most of the times, because you're a noob YOU DONT KNOW what the hell you're looking for.
Let's not get pissed off and immediately post a "USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION a$$%£*e" (im certainly not talking about you gtrab, but I did see a lot of other people posting this as a reply to a noobs demands) and instead maybe have a noob section, with Q&As and sticky posts where they can ask everything there. Maybe even have someone create a "first day guide to using the Xperia". Or at least have some sticky posts instead of the ones that we have here and which I personally find crappy (except "X1 programs, panels, tweaks, fixes [COLLECTION]", "Xperia ROM and Guides", "[Resources] Xperia Wiki Page and useful Links" for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 forum )
Anyway, this is my two cents on the matter...

Hello *,
I just added a wiki page to the XDA Dev wiki together with some links from the development forum.
Please feel free to edit the page and add the information you deem important.
Cheers,
CS
Nice work!
I've stickied this thread in the General forum for everyone to see.
P.S. I fixed the Android logo and added a redirect on the main index photo

Why don't you sticky Sorensiims "How I mod my defy" topic?
Thank you!
Would you mind making it also sticky in the dev sub-forum? As most of the links point to dev-resources and since many questions arise concerning these topics it might help people to get started.
Looks great! Nice to have all the information gathered in one place.. will be helpful when I finally dive into the world of rooting/flashing after my exams
added new section: Recover Nearly Bricked Phone (hopefully)
if anyone wants to contribute, feel free.
will take some time until i posted everything i know
(quite busy right now...)
thanks guys!
This along with other guides saved my ass so thank you for this majorily appreciated

very nice
There should be a directory for all of these wiki pages. With all this info in one place, more unregistered users will end up registering just to be able to access this stuff.

T-Mobile 3.4.2
The "Android 2.2 (Froyo) Stock ROMs" section on the Wiki needs to be updated to reflect the 3.4.2 T-Mobile ROM
IP67 it fake in Thailand don't work.
can't proof water (Some Device)
can't Proof dust (some device)
Can't Proof scratch on Screen Gorrila Glass. cause Key Scratch in my pocket.
Just updated the custom ROMs section.
Add cm7 Tom too
Sent from my MB525 cm7quarx
Dumb question: Asking here since the development forum isnt open to me yet.
I have CM7 beta5.1 but there's been alot of force close of android.media process. I want to reflash 5.1 but the custom recovery does not recognize the SD card. Is there a suggestion on that account which may be of use?
Else it may be included
Maybe an update for the Nordic ROM 2.2.2 as well

Great. Thx very much!...i searched a lot for Eclair but now it`s so easy
It's very good!Thank you!
I think each ROM should have its own section not just a thread. I find searching through 1000+ posts for one bit of info very hard work, and I bet others do as well. Search is good but unless you know the exact wording its not always the best option.
With each ROM having its own section each question will be in its own thread, making finding the answers to repeated questions much easier.
What say the masses ?
Thanks
interesting idea...but think not possible or..?
You know requesting new sections every day would be pain in the arse for moderators?
It's good as it is now.
When you have one sub-forum for each rom then you have a loooooooong list ... and thats not better then so
Questions shouldnt be in dev section - so there are only dev threads -> done
Question about an spezific rom can be posted in the rom thread.
I think this can be achieved through "Related Threads" (With some modification). So that once u open a thread from one developer all this threads in the same section apear at the bottom.
Just a wild idea
Maybe the mods can make the most useful/best roms sticky...
agree! very hard and sometimes slow to search through 10,000 posts .. it 's often a nightmare to follow the thread

even with search button.. e.g. you search for an issue on battery.. you see someone who asked the question... then i must scroll down(or move next page) to search if someone actually replied and gave a solution to the issue (assuming a there's a reply or solution to the question)... in between you have tons of other unrelated questions/replies/opinions/thanks etc... lol i think you know what i mean

The masses say no. We like asking the same questions all over again, or even better opening the new threads for every query we have.
Your idea is good but what you propose can't be done. It can't be avoided as it would be a forum utopia sort off. Google is more powerful than forum search. Good info doesn't necessarily have to come from XDA.
And for starters this thread is in totally wrong section.
How about a section for roms with sense and a section for roms without sense? or maybe section for ports from other devices and a section for "almost" stock roms. Mabye 2 - 4 subcategories would be a good idea. Another good idea would be that the cooks would use a specific format for the thread names like "Update/Date - Rom name - Version - Cook".
just my two cents in some bad english ^^
Questions or Problems Should Not Be Posted in the Development Forum
Please Post in the Correct Forums and Read THIS
Moving to Q&A
excuse me but i cannot find the xperia pro's forum in this page (xda developers) and i read that the xperia arc is almost equal in hardware reffers .....sorry for my bad english but i hope that someone could tell me about
and if this phone is like xperia pro.....can we use the development roms in this thread for both phones?
and what about to use the same custom kernels....because the arc doesn't have physical keyboard
You're in it.
You can't use arc roms or kernels on the pro but there are some roms and ports for the pro in the dev section.
Sent from my LT18i using xda app-developers app

Are you not able to find the development section?
Hi,
several users told you already - the Xperia Pro lives in the Xperia Arc forums.
You will find posts labelled with "{PRO}" or "[PRO]" and sometimes "mk16i" or "mk16a" or even "iyokan".
Be sure to use the search functions of the site before opening new threads and use the above labels for better search results. Especially, try to avoid the search term "Xperia pro" as it will dominantly lead you to the device "Xperia mini pro" which has a much broader user base (and which has its own "rooms" on this site). This is true for searches on the Internet too.
You will find loads of tweaks and information in the Xperia Arc Android Development forum.
Read the splendid thread in the general forum about available roms.
Good luck and welcome to the little happy community of Xperia pro users!

Hello Moderators,
I believe recently Xperia S threads have been relocated from P, U and Sola group to this one. I'm not sure if I am the only experiencing this but clicking Sony Xperia S in the Find your device search box in the top navigates to the old forum page. If this is need of a fix kindly look into it.
Thanks
Hi there,
Could you mention this in the requests to mods and admins thread please, as that's the best place for it.
Cheers
