Compared to other phones, S4's furthest shot is still too close. Is there a way to increase the furthest zoom on the camera? Thanks.
By default it comes set at 9mp.. But if u set it to 13mp it increases the field of view just a bit..

I dont understand your question. Increase fov? Or optical zoom?

He wants the camera at zoom x1.0 to show more. He feels it is zoomed
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
That would be increasing fov. I highly doubt thats possible via software. If I'm wrong someone let me know and teach me, that sounds very interesting.

Comparing S4 and my Note 2 taking pictures of the same subject from the same distance, Note 2 will give you more view assuming using the same resolution (which res doesn't really matter).
S4 shots seems too close that you have to walk away further to get the same view my note 2 provides.

The focal length is what it is. You can't change it. Take a couple steps back.

I think it is perfect. I love the fact I do not have to in right in my kids faces to take a good close up. It is also helpful for longer shots. I think they nailed it.

Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I found it to be fairly useless as well.
Try taking a picture with a dark foreground, and bright background. Like taking a pic of someone inside with a bright window behind them. HDR basically takes an over bright picture of the dark spots, and a dark picture of the bright spots, and combines them to make one good picture
HDR basically takes two pictures, and combines them into one image. One brighter, one darker, and then merge them together to give you a better looking image due to lighting. Some love it, some think its useless. Try it out.

two separate.. one is the regular pic. the other one is the ''hdr'' pic .. compare them side to side, you will see a brightness difference, slight one.

I have noticed really poor low light pictures compared to a number of past devices such as HTC Amaze. I was not able to take pictures at a local hangout where I had no problems previously.

I'm using stock camera but I choose different scenes in the settings before taking the picture. It was taken at night in low lighting but the light from the candles help. I also move around to different angles to see if that can manipulate the picture as well. Here is another of the same thing but looks worse.

Theres been a update! http://androidspin.com/2012/11/01/download-video-photosphere-cam-in-the-wild/
On Build 4 AOKP still and the 4.2.1 keyboard works fantastically. However, while the camera is functional it is buggy. It's amazing considering how long it's been out. I believe less than 72 hours at the time I'm writing this.
Between all the exciting new changes and the kernels developers have been doing for our device, well I'd pretty much say we have the best god damn phone out Lol.
Edit : The other good phones are relatively new and still have some ROM problems, or other problems. Our phone is not only a powerhouse but is stable and great on battery!

I flashed the patched version and then pushed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33540774&postcount=
to my system/app directory, set its permissions to rw-r-r- and rebooted and boom it great.
I figured it out. I found a ROM in another forum that had all the permissions set. It also had the updated keyboard as well. A two in one flash.
