Is there a way to remove the slide unlock feature on touchwiz roms?
There are several applications from the play store that work ... kinda.
The slide unlock goes away, but when the home button is pressed (when screen is off) the device goes to the home screen instead the recent open application.
On most of the aosp roms if you wake the device using the home button the last open application stays in the foreground.

Are you trying to remove a lock screen altogether? Under the lock screen settings, you can set it to "none".

I just noticed that while in pandora, the pandora app devs decided to throw the menu button on the main bar with the home/back/app list buttons. When my phone auto locks or i manually lock it, the menu button is on the lock screen and if i tap it, it unlocks. I use swipe unlock so not a huge deal for me, but i need to test with other methods like pattern and password.
Attached is screenshot.
[Edit] i tested it with all other unlock methods and the button doesnt work. It is still there on lock screen, but only unlocks the phone on swipe.
Feature of the os. All apps with the menu button down there do it, even the XDA app. Not a security issue, doesn't work when you actually have a security method set up.

Hello,
I've been using my new note 2 for two weeks now.. and I like it so much
I also used sgs2 and 3 before.
I'm not new to android.. I flashed roms, know every single setting in the device, rooted my sgs2 and tried lots of apps to customize them.
Regarding my issue, I like to set my device to none screen security because I always manually lock it with a press on the lock screen button after I do whatever I want to do with it, and to unlock I always press Home button to get back to where I was immediately without the need to swipe the lock screen.
The problem is when I lock it and there is an app running and then press the home button the screen goes to home default screen and do not just unlock the screen and keep it there where I was last, this was not the case with my sgs2 or sgs3.
If I press the lock screen button instead it does what I want but I prefer to use home button because its much easier.
Its not a big issue but its annoying sometimes because sometimes I get popup notification windows while the phone is locked (whatsapp for example) and I press the home button to see it and instead of just turning on the screen to see the window it goes back to home screen and the popup is gone, or in cases where I'am writing an email or reading something and meanwhile talking to somebody, if the screen gets locked, If I press the home button everything is gone. So I have to switch tasks to open my activity again.
I don't know if this is a jellybean issue or hardware (homebutton).
I know its not a big deal but I would appreciate if somebody can help get around this

It seems to be a jellybean feature no way around unless a mod comes out...
All jellybean roms in Note I had this feature and i remember seeing this thing on SGS III jellybean too
Just install the S Voice app , "voicetalk_NLI.apk".
In S Voice, set "double click active S Voice" will fix the issue.
This actually worked! Thanks
But the problem is that i use another app (home2) to control home button which makes me able to control what app runs when double clicking home or even use a combination of home with back or menu.
Its a very good app if you want to try it.
This leaves me with trying to deal with my original issue tho or just return to old factory setting

thanks man! used to annoy me so much having to open the app again
edit. There's one slight problem, now it lags a bit to return back to the home screen..
When my screen turns off and I press the home button to wake the screen, any applications or notification popups I had disappears as the home button is being too "aggressive" and immediately takes me to the home screen.
Did I miss a setting somewhere to prevent this?
Thanks.
It seems the only way to prevent this is by enabling Swipe Lock. I guess this is why it's enabled by default?
I'm having the same problem no matter what I do when the screen times out and I press home it takeme back to my home screen. ..Have you found a solution yet?

In S-Voice app, bring up settings, make sure option to "Open via the home key" is checked. This will allow the home button to only wake the device when the screen is off. Unfortunately, this also introduces some lag when pressing the home button, as the software is waiting to see if you register a double click.

I hate that lag, that's why I unchecked it and ran into this Home Button problem.
The lag is pretty bad, like 2-3 seconds. Not practical.
Hi everyone,
I am on BlackBox 1.0.2 and I'm having some issues. First off I keep on getting this screen/widget and when I wake my phone up, it always goes to that screen even though it is not my home screen (I attached the screenshot). When I restart my phone it goes away. How can I make my real home lockscreen the one that pops up when I wake my phone up?
Also, sometimes I press the home button or the power button to wake my phone up and nothing happens and it just restarts or wakes up after like 10 seconds. I used to have a Android Weather widget on my lockscreen and when I removed it it got better but it is still doing this. How can I fix this? Also, what weather/time widget do you suggest for my lock screen?

Which lockscreen are you using? Look like swipe? If you want it to go to straight to home screen choose none for lock screen

Oh no no. I want my lock screen-home screen to be a different screen but the screen that I posted keeps on poping up and that automatically becomes my lockscreen-homescreen. The screens that I am talking about are all when the phone is locked.
Thanks

Tap and hold on whichever lockscreen widget you wish to be default, and drag to the left of your screen and make that widget the left-most "screen" in the panels of lockscreens.
Thats the problem, I cant drag it further right. I cant edit the screen that I posted at all. It goes away when I restart the phone but it soon comes back

I currently have my screen set to turn of when not in use at 30sec. If I have say a browser window open, step away from the phone, the screen turns off as expected. When I hit the home button, screen turns on and closes what ever app I was using, in this case the browser window.
How can I set the home button to turn the screen back on, but not close the app I was using?
Thanks...
Hi!
I don't think you can reprogram the action on click on the home button using the Samsung's stock ROM.
You may have some luck using the Xposed Additions Xposed module -- I haven't tried it myself, but based on the description, it should help you achieve what you want. You will, of course, need to be rooted and have Xposed Framework installed.
In the stock ROM, the home button switches tasks away from any open app but does not exit your ongoing session within the app.
You can long press on home to pop a task list enabling you to switch back.
You can more fully exit any task using the (curved arrow) back soft key, but the task remains partly open on the home button popup unless you either flick it aside or use the "x" soft key to close all.
Short press the power button for a simple screen wakening.
