Android Google Gmail App not pushing emails - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

The gmail app stopped pushing emails a couple of days ago. In order to retrieve my emails I have to open the app and manually refresh it.
I have the same problem on my stock rooted Note 2 and stock not-rooted S3.
What I have done so far:
Cleared app data and cache.
Wipe cache and dalvik (rooted note 2 only)
Unistalled Gmail and reinstalled from market
Removed my accounts and add them again
Checked to make sure all settings were intact in settings app, sync settings, Gmail settings, etc.
Can anyone else advice or have ran into the same issue.
Thanks.

I was having the same issues with gmail. I ended up setting up the stock email apk and it worked for me

Why did you had to revert back to the stock app? Is there a Gmail app that is not stick?

No the Google settings app on your phone

In the Google settings on the phone all syncing options are checked including Gmail, Google+, Calendar, and other options.
In the gmail app I have notifications and sync Gmail checked. However, I'm not receiving any pushed emails. I only get them when manually refreshing the app.

Try deleting all the data in the gmail app

I deleted the data, cleared data and cache, removed all accounts and add them one at a time and tried, clear dalvik cache in recovery, unistalled and reistalled the gmail app.
It happens on my n note 2 and s3.
I'm thinking of doing a factory reset to see if that helps.

This was happening to me since gmail 4.3. I updated to 4.5 and made no difference.

Weird. I get the emails fine I don't need to refresh anything but I am not getting the email icon in notification bar anymore. It's not a huge deal but if I figure out how to fix it I will post.

Did you turn on the notifications for the specific category/label?
So when you go to the "Social" label, hit the menu button and then go to label settings and then turn on 'Label notifications." you have to do this for every tab. Then you should get a notification sound as well as an icon in your notification bar.

My emails are being pushed again. I have no idea why it was happening for the last few days but the issue seems to have self fixed.
Thanks guys:thumbup::beer:

Well that makes sense. That's actually very useful. Now I dont need to be notified when viagra goes on sale at 2am
I can turn off notification for that. Cool thanks.

The problem came back. I'm no longer getting my emails pushed. Have to open the app and refresh. This is frustrating.

I know this is an old thread, but I just had this problem and found this thread by searching on Google, then I figured out how to fix it.
Open Gmail app, Settings, Click on your account, Click on "Inbox sound & vibrate", then check "Notify for every message"
That fixed it for me. Good luck.

Not working for me...
Me too,my gmail was working fine for a long time and in the last few days it wouldn't push any mail...
I tried everything but no luck.

I tried everything suggested here; did a factory reset even to no available. I left it alone and after a while it started to work fine again.

It didn't work for me on the Galaxy S3. The next download worked. But any changes I make on the phone won't get synced back up. See http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=42641 If enough people star it, Google will look into it.

[solved] Syncing issue with Touchwiz Calendar

Hey, so I'm having problems syncing my Google calendar on my phone with the server. I keep getting a sync error in the options everyime l try to do so. Strangely though, when I download the official Google calendar, it works fine. I do have the Google calendar set as default on touhwiz. Also, I'm running Darth ROM and android 4.1. Thanks for any help.

For what its worth, I had this problem too. Never found a fix, had to just stop syncing my calendar altogether. Happened on this phone and on my evo shift, so its not device specific

Stock email reply-to address

So, my server credentials are domain\username, and my email address is first.last. When people hit reply, they get the domain\username as the email address. When they reply all, they get that and the correct email address. Is there a way to fix that?

OK.... This has more to do with the email account than the client. Are you letting it auto discover the server? Is it a corporate account. If so different exchange and AD environments can require different setups. If that is the case your companies help desk or exchange admin can help. Always try auto first.
All that said Stock Email CLIENT reply to address would have been much clearer. Remember you are asking for help and being detailed and giving as much info as possible makes that easier for others. Info like Corporate, POP3 or IMAP are important.
Carbon Nightly | Kroz Hue Theme | Crack Flasher
Yeah, it's a corporate exchange account. It can't auto detect because the server address points to a mail.company.com sub domain. This doesn't happen with other email clients I've tried, which is why I find it odd, and don't think it's an account issue. Oh well~

I've been an EE user for years
My main reason for asking is that I got a replacement phone yesterday because my old one had weird screen flaws, and wanted to try out running everything as stock as possible. The stock email client is pretty okay aside from that one issue.

No update from fb app on notification bar.

When I am on stock touchwiz rom, I get every single update from facebook on notification bar. When I installed a custom rom (Infamous), no update from fb on notification bar. If I launch the app, it shows me update in it but no sign on notification bar. I cleared cache, reinstalled fb app, check auto sync etc etc to make sure it works. But nothing changes. As soon as I flash back the nandroid backup of stock tw rom, fb update works like charm. What's wrong with the custom or deodexed rom then?

I'm not rooted or anything but when I first got my phone yesterday I kept getting a notification to log into Facebook to sync it to my phone. When I clicked the notification it opened up the browser to Facebook and wanted me to let some sort of Samsung app connect to my Facebook. I assume that is what was syncing your notifications. I didn't connect mine to sync so I don't get notifications so I can't verify.
