I just flashed cm 10.1 rc4 and I'm pretty sure I flashed the right gapps (for 4.2.2). No problems with the play store but the camera app does not have the option of photo sphere and when I select the panorama option it's in a windowed mode and its super laggy. The camera app version is 1.1.40001 and the play store version is 4.1.6. The gapps version is gapps-jb-20130301.
What could be the issue?
Thanks

Couple things.
1) Stop using the 3 month old gapps package. Use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012857 or the ParanoidAndroid ones. They are kept up to date.
2) We don't have photosphere for our device. Need a mod for that. I know they exist, but I don't know where they are (our Apps section, I presume). One of the others can help you on this point.
3) Camera is not part of gapps (photosphere is). It's part of the ROM.
3) Unsure of lag issue.

Ok thanks I'll download the new gapps off of your link and I'll forget about photosphere but the lag/windowed panorama kinda sucks

A lot of the TouchWiz ROMs have photosphere, but ironically, the AOSP based ROMs do not have it.
Lol Ok this is weird, I flashed the gapps from the link above so now my camera does have the option of photosphere but every time I click it says gallery has stopped working...
Panorama still extremely choppy though

You need to reboot for camera to work again. I've noticed that if I install a photosphere Gallery apk, I have to click the screen to focus before taking a picture, or else the camera will freeze and fail to work until you reboot.

Camera is still work in progress, so you can expect some distorsions, glitches etc.
Try clearing camera data - settings/manage apps/all/...
This is still an alpha build, so it's not expected to be perfect. I still get weird distortions with the gapps v7 camera, although bar code scanner works perfectly.
It work better for me with the Camera360 app.
But not perfect yet...
Well when the list of working and not working shows as "camera(kind of)" I wouldn't expect it to be anything like cm7 considering when CM does release it will be CM9.

If you flash the Alpha10 and then you flash gapps your stock cam isn't the right one. Gapps have a Camera.apk. You can remove the CameraGoogle.apk from gapps zip before flash it or remove CameraGoogle.apk from /system/app/ and push the one in Alpha10's zip

I use FXcamera and it works well for me.
But no zoom inside this app...
Can anyone confirm this?
As written in developer forums for quattro or andromadus roms. Camcorder is still not working. Camera is working but still glitchy, and best solution to remove glitches is to set the camera to VGA resolution. yes for someone VGA resolution may be not the solution but, the camera in g2 is really not so good and if you want to take higher quality pictures i think it is better to use "real" camera not camera embed into phone.

and why to use zoom - our device is not supporting "real" zoom. just SW zoom, what means, software will crop, and then upsample the image from camera. This process will just make your "zoomed" pictures look much worser in the end of the process.
After I updated from CM-9 20120909 to CM-10 20120915, I lost my Camera. Is this a known issue or did I loose a file during update. I pulled the update off Goomanager and flashed through TKRP. Also , what is best 3rd party camera app for the S3? I didn't mind the stock app.
I flashed the CM10 9/15 nightly coming from CM9 and I got a stock camera. You can try re-downloading the file and then re-flashing or you could get this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=slide.cameraZoom.
I don't use it myself, but I have a friend who swears by it.
Not sure on CM9, but on CM10 disabling the gallery app kills the camera.

Thanks! I will take a look later tonight and see if this is my problem. I went ahead and flashed back to CM9 earlier today. I might wait on future CM10 updates. I also started to notice the flicker issues folks were talking about.
I would say try re-downloading CM10. Asides from the camera issue, I've actually noticed less flicker from my download of the CM10 9/15 nightly compared to my old CM9 build. Granted my CM9 build was older than yours (I think 8/25), but from what I understand, CM9 isn't even supposed to have flicker.

I had zero flicker with CM9's current update. I flashed CM10 9/18 last night by doing a complete wipe and factory reset, since camera was missing on the CM10 9/15 I flashed updating from CM9. It's weird , after flashing 9/18 I had camera when I opened up my Gallery , but no camera icon on the homescreen. It seems when I flashed gaapps, I lost the camera option all together. There is a generic camera Icon shortcut on the lockscreen, but it will not open. Am I missing something here ? Gallery is enabled.
Did you flash JB gapps? Since CM10 is based off JB and not ICS that could be it, although I don't see how gapps could affect the camera.
You saved my life!

This is a noob question, but does this work like the stock Gallery/Camera combo where you can see your Picasa folders? When I was rooted and using a stock Rom I would always upload immediately to Picasa and delete from SD/phone and still be able to see my pics in the folder. Since I switched to JellyBam Rom, I no longer see anything from Picasa, although I can still upload pics to Picasa. I flashed GAPPS 4.1.2, and everything works on the apps, except for the Picasa/Gallery thing. Any help in figuring this out would be greatly appreciated.

This is correct! Thanks for the heads up on the AT&T SGS III. However since "Action" scene is required to be able to use without freezing users should also note that "Action" scene does not have Flash functionality. (No Pictures in the dark). "Auto" mode still freezing up when Auto-Focusing. I'd say if you want the camera to play with Photosphere and never take pictures in the dark then this APK is for you.
That's is working with no problem on JB 4.1 TW base. And the good part : it not replace the TW camera!

About the 2 gallery's/2 cameras: In your app drawer after flashing the first one is stock, second one is photosphere. Just go to the app info and disable the stocks.

I've been running this for about 3 weeks and I have never had to set the scene to anything in order for it to work I just leave it on Auto. It just worked 100% straight outa flashing.
Also, because of this I have working flash as well.

No, it's not unstable. You did something wrong, or your ROM is interfering.

Wondering if anyone was able to get it to work on Shelnutt2's CM10.1. I keep getting force closed on camera, gallery works fine though.
[SOLVED] It wasn't working because of a mod on the media_profiles.xml file that I was using. Once I went to the normal file, it started working.
I can confirm rear and front cameras as well as photosphere work on Lifeless 14 however photos are limited to 8mp.

Is that the one from Banks gapps?
Edit: I flashed photosphere. Then the new camera app installed; however, it force closes when opening the camera app.
I just tried on Shelnut2 CM 10( build 6.27).
What I did to make it work was (using Titanium Backup) uninstall Gallery. You will get a notice if you want t, uninstall gallery2.apk, hit yes. Then install Google edition camera apk and the camera should work with 13 MP, not reboot necessary (although it is recommended).

Interesting, in Titanium, I see Gallery 1.1.400001 and when I try to un-install, it says "Cannot remove system app, Failed to locate the apk file"
It's weird because with other system apps, I can remove without issue.
Edit: Figured it out. It was because of a mod on the media_profiles.xml file causing it to force close.

It should work on stock roms as others have done it. I don't think it replaces the stock camera, instead you may have 2 camera apps (make a backup of the current camera/gallery app before installing).
Have you tried just installing it like a normal app? That should work.

I heard over in a development thread they said to use the stock camera instead of the "advanced instagram" camera. But after upgrading to 4.3 it went away completely, but I still use stock camera anyways.
I was having the same problem after upgrading to a ROM with JB 4.3. It went away when I updated to the next most recent nightly. Maybe it's a problem with some of the early 4.3 builds? Try upgrading to the newest nightly or downgrading to the most stable 4.2
Its not they all break for some reason. I'm sure its because of the 3.4 kernel. 3rd party camera apps seem to break. Don't know why or how. That's why use the stock camera.

hey guys, i just found an easy work around.
all you got to do is choose your image from the gallery, apply one of the instagram filters, hit next, then go back and choose the normal filter. it should work out well
Here's what fixed it for me:
1) Open Instagram
2) Go to Options
3) Go to Advanced Features
4) Uncheck "Use High-Quality Photo Processing"
Had the same problem with AOKP on Xperia V - changing that setting fixed it
