This happens on rc4 as well as 6/02, I will try the newest nightly later today. Both seemed fine for a couple hours then started randomly rebooting. I have no idea what is causing this because when I flash both I did a factory reset and system wipe just to be safe. Is there something that I'm missing here? I restore with titanium backup but only the apps, not system settings.

How often do reboots occur? Can you boot up your device normally or does booting process stops on boot animation screen (and then reboot)?
Perhaps your problem is not that serious as mine but It looks like something close happened to me too. I got the same behavior after I flashed RC4....it just went worse when I tried to fix it by restoring backups, then reflashing stock bla bla. There are few more with similar problems. No solution so far...sorry battery replacement did the trick for one user but not for another...

Only thing left is fixing permissions and not restore anything

Happens with both my batteries, one is the stock battery. I can boot normally but sometimes I get reboots 5 or 6 times in a row before I can unlock.

Went ahead and clean flashed without restoring anything. It was a pain but better than having a phone that couldn't stay on. Still no idea what caused it.

Having this issue on Droid 4 (maserati) as well. Backing up ROM and I'll deal with it when I get home, gonna try a clean install of 6/5/2013.

Lately I've been really annoyed with phone, for some reason it just randomly reboots for God knows what reasons! Is this common or even a known issue ?
Are you running stock or a custom rom and kernel? I've never had a reboot with stock or on Starburst with lostkernel.

I dunno man, if that isn't happening without some 'aftermarket modifications', umm, I'd swap the damn phone. That isn't normal. I never get reboots unless I am overclocking on perf gov with everything maxed out...and that's pretty much it. If you are getting reboots just sitting there or dicking around on the internet that would be more than enough reason for me to take it in and swap it out...especially if you can reproduce the it for them.
Thanks for the replies guys, to answer your questions no I'm completely stock running stock kernel and it happens whenever I'm online or some apps will trigger it. I'd hate to restore but I think it's the only way
Ive had it a couple times.
It started after uploading app from market installing it while I was deleting one at same time
device crashed reboot took place.
From that point a had a couple reboots within days Touchwiz error displaying automatically going to phone keypad no escape from it.
I ended up doing factory reset fixed it all is well
did you by chance take an SD card out if another phone and pop it into that phone? if so, back up whatever data is on it, and try formatting it (if that cures the reboots, obviously something on the sd is corrupt and not cooperating with the system... dont restore anything from that backup you took after formatting) I would then try a facotry reset if the previous doesn't work. if the factory reset doesn't cure it, I'd swap the phone.

Thanks guys, I installed all the apps I could to the sd card. In other words all the apps were in the internal memory and that seems to fix the issue.
I'm not rooted and I'm getting random reboots.
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII EPIC 4g Touch on XDA Premium!
I was running Paul's custom ROM for the past week or so. I plugged my phone in to a portable charger because the battery was low. This is not the first time I have used this charger on this phone. After a few minutes the phone rebooted. I found this odd so I tried to figure out what was going on. I unlocked the device and went into settings....phone rebooted again. I tried reflashing the MoDaCo ROM, reflashing the original ROM and resetting the device. It still does it. Im still new to Android platform (moving away from a shameful iPhone) so Im lost on what the problem could be. Any ideas?
did you undervolt and tick set on boot without testing voltages?

No. I didn't change any of that. My phone is unusable
I think one of my apps is causing it. Is that possible even though I'm not running the app?
I have no idea. I think youre leaving out something.

After i restore to factory everything works fine. It starts again (doesn't matter which ROM I'm using) when Google syncs the apps I've downloaded to the phone. It's stable right now until I figure out what the hell is going on.
I would say app but you said you wiped everything..

Right. It works fine until Google starts to sync my data from my account. Is there a way to pinpoint which app is causing the damage?
Nevermind. It does it anyway. Hardware issue? Overheating issue?

My GN every time I boot says, Android is Upgrading, start applications, what do this means???
Im still on 4.0.1 ics..

This is normal. Your phone is not updating its building app cache or something.
Search is your friend.
Question is though... Why is it always rebuilding?
Is it still completely stock from Day 1 of purchase?
Have you rooted it? If so, what method?
Have you installed any apps?
Have you tried doing a factory reset? (Ensure you back up your data)
The phone is purelly stock
I havent done nothing except using it and installing apps...the regular as an every day phone...i got since sunday
Should I factory reset?
Thanks

If a factory reset will I lose my photos and the musics and apk's i have on Download folder?
Any way to back up that?
Thanks

mine does it to. its normal
I can tell you its not normal for it to happen on every single boot! It's probably an app that is causing issues with the os. Try and remember what you recently installed and uninstall a couple apps to try and narrow it down. This happened to me when I installed Wallet.
mine has done it since i powered it on out of the box the very 1st time. so i'd say its normal
I wonder why its doing it then? If on my device it only does it when system files are being played with but on others on every boot?
Happens for me too, only noticed it since upgrading to 4.01 (stock)
so my phone keeps turning off but i need to take out the battery to start it up after i do that the phone boots normally then when everything loads up it turns of i tried factory resting it worked for a wile then problem happends again. i wiped system and everthing and flashed the some rom again and still problem????
Is this happened after rooting?

No It just acting like this out of nowhere?
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
maybe its just the ROM, i remember i used to have this issue and it only happened on certain ROMS, i recommend hyperdrive, i have had no issues with that ROM. always try other ROMS, cause like i said, it could just be a ROM issue.
I'm trying to reset wallet but its stuck at 94% 44/47. I let it sit overnight and its still stuck. I've rebooted the device and turned of wifi and it restarts the process and gets stuck at the exact same point. Thoughts?
I have the same issue. Did you ever find a fix?

Have you tried going into setting and clearing data and cache after you tried to reset it from within the app?
I've never got mine to 100% I always give up and do like I mentioned before. If you try to open it after that it starts set up process again.
Haven't had any problems flashing between Roms like that

Change your build prop back to the galaxy nexus one when you first installed it to reset it.
