Touched by sg4 2.0 - S translator app - "unexpected exception" - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

As the title states.. I have a fresh install of Touched by SG4 2.0 and all the sg4 apps are installed like S voice , s translator, s health..however, when I run the translator app and type or say a message it will say translating.. then quit and shows a "unexpected exception"..and then fails to translate.. any one experience this or have a way to fix it? Maybe the apk so i can try reinstalling it? EVERY thing else works on the ROM fine but this..thanks

Maybe that app didn't take. Try pulling it from the Rom's zip and pushing it into system apps after deleting the original. Of course, do a backup first. See if that helps. Or see if there's an update available? Good luck!

Everything should work. I made sure to test that before I released the ROM.
3G or 4G/WiFi connection? Have you tried clearing app cache and data from the translator.....wipe dalvik cache too?

I've seen the apk available on some XDA forums, if you want to Google that and try another copy. Have you tried Google Translate? Might be a viable option. I heard the ui is better and it sucks less battery. Good luck

Yes, I have set up a Samsung account and logged in - Samsung Apps works, S-Health works, and S-Voice works. Tried lots of different languages - to and from English. If I type in an English phrase, it will speak it, but fails on every translate.

Alot of apps say not compatible...

Having an issue with one of my epics that half of the stuff in the market says not compatible, but on the other epic its fine. I know i downloaded this market enabler app and it ended up messing up my phone and im sure thats the issue, but since then i completely restored the market and all the market apps. It's still messed up. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this without wiping the complete phone?
Check your build.prop and see what your device is listed as. A text editor can view it.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
already done that, everything in build prop says epic.
Can you list some of these apps so I can verify it is not just a market error? The same thing happened right after the EI22 OTA. It takes Google a week to catch up on new firmware.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Another question is are you using an app to change your LCD density? I had done so and a lot of apps said not compatible until I set to default and rebooted.

Well thats a interesting point.... i have my lcd density edited just via my build prop. im going to change it back and see if that fixes it.
edit: changing my density from 200 back to 240 doesn't fix the problem
I've had this problem before... ultimately google talk kept saying failed login. More than likely messed up data somewhere. I ended up flashing rom and delete all data dalvic and cache. When I tried to advance restore data from cwm this problem came back. Best to restore from titanium or my backup.

yeah i still cant figure it out, i think maybe the best thing to do is just restart everything from scratch.

Do you mean it didn't wipe data or didn't fix the market problem? You should have to accept terms and conditions in market again to show it wiped data. As for apps still being incompatible, you need to Odin back to stock, something got out of whack...probably still something in the build.prop.
it wiped data, still didnt work. My build prop is fine. its the same as my other epic that works fine. same rom same everything. only different is one is on boost and one is on VM

Just one day it started showing the device as incompatible whereas the other device is not. Any apps that were compatible at one time? This happened to me with HBOGO then a week later it cleared up, like Google had to fix something.

Spell Checker says everything I type is wrong :(

Whether I'm typing a text, in a forum.. etc, my nexus tells me that 80% of the words I type are wrong.
I'm using bamf with lean kernel, and swiftkey 3 beta. I tried the stock keyboard and the same things happens. Any ideas?
Wipe and flash. Wyp nd phlaush.

So I wiped the phone and reflashed a newly downloaded bamf and my phone is doing the same thing. Any way I can add the dictionary to the phone manually?

DPI and play store

Can someone post the steps to get Google play store to find certain apps when it doesn't recognize my device because I have the DPI set low? I remember when I was on aokp it had the steps built into the ROM but I don't remember how. Play store either doesn't show what I was searching for or it says device not compatible. Also what is the lowest you can set it before the play store can't recognize it? Thanks!

Change dpi, reboot, clear market cache, enter market, accept.
As far as dpi for market, depends on what you consider working. As you move away from stock, you start having different things happening like movies+tv disappearing or apps being not supported. You have to mess around since no one has yet posted a list of trial and errors. To get around the apps issue, download the modified market app. It will remove the app restriction, but be careful you don't try to install something you shouldn't.
Download LCD modder pro. It gives you the option to download modded market. Works great for me
I use rom toolbox pro to change dpi, reboot, download 2 files from lcd modder pro, install and reboot. You might see a bunch of things fc while its prepping to reboot but its fine

Haha! I know the feeling!!! Just a quick note!
When you replace the files. Delete the app cache for the market and Google services framework via settings then flash the modded market. I'm gonna look into Google services framework as well and see what role that gas in market compatibility. Also after replacing files, reboot to recovery and clear bother cache partition and dalvik cache. That should help.

Did you change the DPI before adding the files? or did you change the files then change DPI and then reboot? It being JB shouldnt really matter as the android market is pretty universal as GB market works on ICS and etc. However they may have changed it.
Can you provide an exact step by step as to what you did?

You haven't modified your DPI settings or are using a ROM which requires some sort of modded Play store are you? Or changed build.prop settings?

Nope. Same problem on Virgin Rom, Golden Eye Rom (where I noticed the problem), then Darth stalker ROM.
All have the same issue. Even factory resetted on all ROMs. Same issue.
Here's the kicker. I'll try something new that I haven't tried before, then 1 app that was giving me problems will actually download. Then to definitely make sure if it's been fixed, try downloading something like Rom toolbox, same error message.
This happened ever since Virgin Rom, and really started taking effect once I flashed Goldeneye ROM.
Not saying those ROMs are the root cause, but just giving you guys a more clear picture of when this started happening.
If anything, it happened ever since I re rooted my phone.
Remove your Google account and re add it. Also recommend clearing data for Google play services, play store, and Google services framework as mentioned above. Do all this at once then reboot. Should fix it. At least it did for me.

Okay so first things first:stock rom stock everything
What I've tried before asking for help
1. Tried re-downloading said apps (multiple apps)
2.uninstall-reinstall
3.clear playstore information
4.opera normal is the only one of a couple that are giving this error that I care about. Tried using other versions of opera that have never been installed before on this device or downloaded from my playstore account, they work perfectly fine. Its just the one version that just happens to be (what's in my opinion) the best.
Havent tried a factory reset, this happened after I synced/updated with kies and added a whole bunch of music on my standard 16gb sd card....had to move it from my phone storage because it caused problems
My question is obviously how do I fix this?
As a part 2 to that question how do I figure out where my phone is default installing apps? It should be the phone storage not the sd card right?

Or you could roll back to a previous version of the PlayStore by uninstalling the current one.
That worked in a number of cases.
I had the same problem and I had to do the following:
1. Cleared the cache and data from: Google play store, Google Play services, and Google Services Framework
2. If under the Google play store there is a button to uninstall updates do that as well.
3. Reboot into recovery and clear cache and the davik cache
I then rebooted and I was fine. Have not seen the problem since
