[Q] can somebody help me? - 8.9" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I have trouble. I, suddenly, deleted file framework-res .apk. My Kindle didn’t start, I saw only black screen, and inscription with suggestion Reboot or boot factory settings. If i was choosing "boot factory settings", Kindle reboot, but again appeared same inscription with suggestion.
I read your posts on website about recovery Kindle Fire HD 8.9. And... i did
1. With help SDK i made my kindle fastboot mode.
2. Then, following the instructions and download the system for kindle. But……
I have the system tries to boot. I see the inscription Kindlefire and all. Nothing else is going on. Can you help me? I broke my brain, thinking about this trouble. What i doing wrong?

Seems, i guess. I downloaded operation system with website and on site Amazon, but seems, they don't suitable. Because, i have error, when i trying through SDK in fastboot loading system on my Kindle "target reported max download size of 1006632960 bytes
load_file: could not allocate 929038336 bytes
error: cannot load 'system2.img': Not enough space".
Probably, i need image system's partition. Can anybody send me original image system's partition for Kindle Fire HD 8,9, please?

Restore kindle fire after twrp2.0 to factory default without firefirefire

Hey I tried like many other people here to get twrp2.0 on to my Kindle Fire 6.2.2.
the twrp installation stocked at the Yellow Triangle. I set the boot normal option and I can Boot to the Kindle Fire OS.
But I still have the firefirefire boot loader with the Yellow Triangle on my Device when booting.
Is there any chance to remove it? I read some people did a update from 6.2.1 to 6.2.2. But I already have 6.2.2 installed. Is there any other way to remove it?
Or is there any other bootloader I can Use I would so like to install Android ICS on my Kindle Fire.
why do you want to remove it ?
it is your "safety net" to get to recovery in case of a failure !
fff and a recovery (twrp or cwm) are the most important things to have on a rooted kf to avoid realy complicated bricks
because it is not working I can not boot in to the recovery mode so it is useless for me I think so I just want to go back to the Original Firmware.
that will not help you
if you want to install a other rom then you need twrp
the trwp install failure is very common and very easy to fix:
download twrp from http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/twrp-blaze-2.0.0RC0.img
rename it to "recovery.img" and copy it over the bad file in the recovery folder of kfu
then do the install again - you'll see it works
I am curious about restoring the factory kindle software myself. Not because I don't like cm. Everything works great including firefirefire, twrp, and cm9. I have just installed cm on a few kindles that don't belong to me and I know sooner or later someone is going to say, "I want my original software back" I am assuming the process will be as easy as using twrp to install a stock.zip or similar for a stock rom? In the event they want to have the original kindle boot logo, will that be as simple as using adb to issue a simple DD if=stockboot.img of=/some/blkdev/on/kindle? Thanks in advance

I followed these instructions but TWRP 2.0 seems to be stuck. It says "Factory reset started" and then "Factory reset complete" twice. Then "E:Unable to open zip file." I renamed the bin file to Update.zip as instructed.
Is it OK to try and get out of this and reboot back to TWRP?

I face a similar issue. My KF automatically shut down and goes into the yellow triangle loop while watching YouTube. And it got stuck in the yellow triangle attempted to fastboo to normal boot. Within the few second it **** down and goes into the yellow triangle.
I just want to restore my kf to the stock firmware how can I do that.

I am having the exact same issues but my Kindle just reboots to the triangle randomly.
It all started when I decided to re-root after my system was updated to 6.3, I was on 6.2 when I first got the Kindle and I rooted with Burrito root and it worked fine. The only reason I rooted was so I could use the Android Market, which still worked fine after the system updated to 6.3, but stupid me had to make sure it was rooted so I used the Kindle Fire utility and that’s what hosed my Kindle. Never doing that again.
Anyway, I’m trying Justin’s steps above. Ill report what happens.
Looks like Justin's solution worked for me. I’m back to the factory and there is no TWRP menu when I reboot and it’s the original Kindle Fire image on bootup. Now I just need to see if I get anymore random shut down issues.
I renamed the download to update.zip, and I see it in the root folder, but when I boot into TWRP 2.1.1, I ca't see it in the root directory. I know I named it correctly because on my PC I can open it with an archiver... What am i doing wrong?
whoops
well i f'd up. i finally got twrp to install using a different file. however, it appears that i must've accidentally hit a wrong number when installing late last night, cause it appears i also have clockworkmod installed and it superceded twrp i guess.. can't load it. Anyone got any ideas on how to remove CWM with TWRP also installed. damn what a mess.
Trying to fallback using the latest image (6.3.2) from Amazon
I followed Justin's recipe with the exception of the Amazon load image version. I used the latest stable one instead.
My TWRP version is v2.5.0.0 - another potential difference and it might be significant (Justin never said what version of TWRP he started with).
What follows is what I saw upon executing Justin's steps 16-18.
Updating partition details...

E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/update.zip'

---------------------------
1. Anyone else see these symptoms? Have a work-around or solution?
2. Any other suggestions?
My goal is to sell my Kindle Fire 1st generation with only Amazon software on it. TWRP yellow distraction - while it hurts nothing it is a scare for most purchasers.
Thank you for any assistance.

Hello and good morning.
yet I have not seen so far such an image!
do you know what version of the software resides on your Kindle?
You might try to reach SR tool in the fast boat. If you're in a fastboot, with KF first aide under point 7 the Kindle to restoren and then new to put on.
But this is just a tip of a "Beginner 's" with KF first aide under 8.3.1 successfully several times the Kindle HD 8.9 has set back.

thanks for ur reply
but i did something i know its unusual but it did the trick and now it's working probably
i booted into fast boot then
erased bootloader , boot , recovery , system , userdata & cache
then restart the device again into fastboot
here comes the unusual part
i flashed
bootloader with kfhd8-u-boot-prod-8.1.4.bin
boot with the boot file provided from (KFHD system.img recovery tool) thread , only the boot file , not the recovery
system with the second system image (system2.img) file from (KFHD system.img recovery tool) version SRTv2.1
recovery with kfhd8-twrp-2.4.4.0-recovery.img
i hope this help somebody else
That is indeed a odd screen as much as I have messed with my kindle I have yet to see that one appear myself.
Same problem
I have a KF HD 8.9 with the same white screen as described by the OP. There was a guy on eBay selling 7 of them like that just a few days ago, and I bought one of them. I used KFHD_SRT_v2.1 and reflashed system, recovery, and boot with version 8.1.4. Then, I erased cache and user data and then rebooted.
I saw the Kindle Fire logo, and then the same white screen came up again. I have never seen a Kindle with this problem and am at a loss as to where to go from here. The OP seems to have fixed his Kindle with the same problem but his description of the fix is a little unclear so I am reluctant to try it. The only thing he seemed to do differently was to reflash the bootloader. Maybe that's the key?
It must have been on some funky bootmode because I tried resetting the bootmode to 4000 and it took care of the problem.

Good evening: Can you explain how you reset the bootmode to 4000?
I thought setting boot mode only applied to the original KF 1?

With the Kindle in Fastboot mode go to a CMD prompt and send the following command
fastboot -i 0x1949 oem idme bootmode 4000
I tried this first, before anything else on another Kindle that was stuck in "developer mode" and it rebooted into OS v8.1.2. But it would not connect to my pc in usb file transfer mode. After flashing v8.1.4 I was able to usb file transfer the latest OS and run the update. So, I would recommend flashing 8.1.4 and then reset the bootmode.
Hope this helps...

KF HD Stuck at Kindle Fire Screen

Hello, I have a rooted Kindle Fire (with bootloader) and tried to return it to original Amazon Stock OS.
I tried the steps specified on this page androidcowboy.com/2013/06/how-to-return-kindle-fire-hd-to-stock/
After this steps:
"Navigate to the folder where you unzipped the Kindle Fire SRT Tool and double-click on “SR Tool” file. Choose option 1 for “Restore-Factory Rooted with Superuser.apk”. Be patient as it’s very important. The file transfer can take up to 5 minute with no progress notification. If you interrupt the process in any way then you will BRICK your device. After the transfer is done then choose option 4 to “Erase cache and userdata”. Once it’s finished then choose option 6 to reboot."
It rebooted and seemed to be stuck at the white and orange Kindle Fire logo screen. I can turn it off and on by holding the power button, but my computer cannot detect it as a portable device or ADB. But I can enter fastboot mode by plugging the USB while it is turned off, so I don't think it's hard bricked.. I hope so.
Any thing wrong that I have done? Sorry I'm a noob when it comes to this. Help please?
Btw, my Kindle Version 8.4.1
Is it boot looping on the animated kindle logo or the static image one? Cause either way I'm guessing something went wrong with the flash, you should probably reflash the boot and system images, try using kindle fire first aid if the SRT doesn't work, I believe it has a stock rooted image flashing option like SRT. BTW don't confuse boot with bootloader, boot is where the kernel is stored. Just pointing this out because if you don't need to flash the boot loader then u shouldn't, if it corrupts you have a hard brick.

I do have KFFA, which option should I choose? And mine is stuck on a static image one.
Weird sounds like it doesn't want to even try to load the os, maybe some things wrong with the kernel, anyways I haven't ever used kffa, but there should be an option somewhere to restore system image. You will first need to get the device into fastboot mode, just open a command prompt and CD into the kffa directory, I should have a fastboot command, and run this: fastboot.exe -i 0x1949 getvar product
Then plug your kindle in with the power off. If for some reason it doesn't work, which it should because you seem to have flashed something from fastboot before, then u will just have to update a driver before it disconnects.
Edit: OK fixed sorry for the thread mix up.

Same problem
I have a KFHD 8.9 with the same problem as the OP. It's stuck on the static (orange) Kindle Fire logo. I have working drivers and I am able to get it into fastboot using "fastboot.exe -i 0x1949 getvar product". The problem is, I don't know any of the history of how it got this way. I have repaired a lot of Generation 1 KF's and I thought I would get started on the Gen 2's so I bought this on eBay this way. I didn't realize how much more risky it was to work on the Gen 2. I also have KFFA working but I can't figure out how to get the stock image onto the KF so I can flash it back to stock. When I go into fastboot mode and use KFFA to reboot to normal more it just stops on the static Kindle Fire logo. Also, I can't get ADB to work at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
There's an option in kffa to restore the system partition, should be a fairly obvious choice, if you can't find it try the kfhd system restore tool

Well I tried KFFA Option 7 - Completly Restore the KFHD 8.9 8.1.4 (Fastboot) but it didn't work. There is a problem in RunMe.bat with the wget command when trying to download the .img files from dropbox:
Connecting to dl.dropboxusercontent.com|174.129.21.126|:443... connected.
ERROR: cannot verify dl.dropboxusercontent.com's certificate, issued by `/C=US/O

Unable to locally verify the issuer's authority.
To connect to dl.dropboxusercontent.com insecurely, use `--no-check-certificate'
Unable to establish SSL connection.
So then, I Downloaded the KFHD_SRT tool and managed to restore the system partition but it still would not boot. Then I saw down at the bottom of the instruction page that to downgrade to 8.1.4 you also need to restore the boot and recovery partitions. After I did that -- PRESTO! my KFHD 8.9 booted up and is now working.
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR THE HELP!!!!! I will be sure to click the "THANKS" button.

[Q] Stuck in fastboot mode

Hi, I successfully rooted my KF HD 8.9 with instructions found here
http://androidroot.org/watch_video.php?v=A7HRK4M23YG7
But am now stuck in fastboot mode (displayed on screen). I did have twrp installed and got the blue logo, but not anymore.
I tried KF First Aid, under the option “Display Fastboot Status” I get
“product JEM-PVT-Prod-04
6498000040002FFF fastboot
If you see output above it looks like fastboot is enabled”
Device Manager shows under “Kindle Fire > Android ADB Interface”
Have I bricked my Kindle?
Any help greatly appreciated
Its not bricked, though I would attempt to restore the system partition with kffa since 2nd bootloader is gone. You should be in fastboot mode so that's good at least.

Download Kindle Fire First Aid, find the option about restoring, and if it asks something about is it in fastboot already say yes(or if it asks to put it in fastboot mode say no as it should be already).
tried that exactly as you said, everything seemed to go ok, but when it rebooted it sticks on the kindlefire (orange) logo
Try using SRT instead. Ignore the adb command it lists, that's only for if you have a working kindle that can boot up fully, just stick it in fastboot again and use this utility and see if you have any luck.

Hi, I've tried about 10 times to download KFHD_SRT_v2.0.zip which seems to be for my device, but it fails every time
with message ' the source file cannot be read'. I have downloaded KFHD_SRTv1.3.5.zip, which appears to be for the 7" kindle.
Can I use this, or will the imgs be wrong? There are 4 in the images folder, boot.img, recovery.img, system.img, and systym2.img
The 7" version is not for the 8.9 version, you would probably brick it even worse using that... The ones on that link I sent you are the compatible ones.

that is the one I'm having trouble with, KFHD_SRT_v2.1.zip. While in Kindle Fire First Aid I checked adb and got the message 'adb drivers not installed' so removed and re-installed adb drivers from Amazon, but I still get same message.
Since removing and re-installing drivers my device in device manager now only shows as 'Kindle fire > Fastboot Mode | HD 8.9. It used to say 'ADB Interface'

[Q] Attempted to load android and failed

Hello,
Without beating myself up, here is what I did:
1. used steps from another site to root my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 and attempt to load Android 4.4.2 on it. First major mistake.
2. during that process, the steps to make a backup didn't work and I continued. I realize that was my second major mistake, one from which I cannot recover.
3. attempted to use a Factory Image found on this site. I followed the steps, and when I perform the "fastboot -i 0x1949" reboot command, I get the "kindle fire" orange logo, and it sits there. I'm guessing it's bricked.
4. without giving up, I attempted to follow the commands found on this site here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128175), but I've been unsuccessful.
So, I'm stuck looking at the "kindle fire" orange logo. My thoughts were to get an image on the device and boot into it to at least get all the necessary files for flashing the image. Nope. I would appreciate any assistance. I will also state that I am a very fresh NooB when it comes to these things. I thought I was prepared, but I guess not enough.
TIA!

3. attempted to use a Factory Image found on this site.
TIA!
Mike

if you never installed the fastboot drivers that would explain the issue. when the kindle first turns on after you plug it in while off, it should briefly be detected as a jem device in the device manager. if it already has the drivers installed it will briefly show up as a adb device. if you don't have the drivers installed then grab the ones from mg SIG and extract them somewhere and point the update driver box to it in the few seconds it is detected. once it is installed power the kindle off! run the "fastboot -I 0x1949 getvar product" and when it says waiting for device, plug in the kindle while it is off, it should go into fastboot.

OK. I followed your instructions and installed the driver. I then attempted to install a base image following the instructions here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011126
I chose the following prompts: 1. enable fastboot, then 2. Restore-su/supersu.apk only, then 4. Erase cache and userdata, and finally Reboot normally. No luck.
I'd really appreciate any and all ideas/help. My hope is to turn this brick into something productive again.
What are you using to restore the kindle?

All I have are whatever people have shared. As mentioned in my initial post, I do not have a backup of what I had before I started. Perhaps my biggest mistake. My understanding is that I need to get the Kindle software back on it in order to install the Android bits. Perhaps I am in error on that thinking. Please let me know if that is an unneeded step.
Use either kindle fire first aid or system restore tool and stay away from kindle fire utility unless you want a paperweight.
