Hey xda community,
I'm dealing with a serious problem
So i'm using my galaxy s3 (SGH-I747M running Liquidsmooth JB 4.2.2) and im dealing with this strange issue when I'm using it. it is actually losing charge while im plugging it into the wall charger, and it is getting very hot. im not even doing anything but writing this. im guessing because of me over clocking /undervolting the cpu. right now im at 6 percent and i even reduced the cpu speed to 300-something mHz using the utility the rom came with. please i really need help on this and i really need a fix.

Thanks for the reply,
Im using the stock galaxy s3 charger, but the charging process is either very slow, or its losing charge while charging. I believe the charging method is the most powerful atm in my household, the apple ones suck and my computer is worse than the wall charger. The phone is still hot, but i changed the frequencies to the original configuration. it helped, but not by much.

install battery stats app and find out what app is hogging the resources in the background, and get rid of it.
this happened to me when i installed xbmc and enabled the dlna service by accident and it kept running even after the program was closed.

Nope, still losing battery. You could link me the .apk file if you are talking about something else. Can anybody else tell me how I could restore previous cpu frequency and governor configurations prior to overclocking/undervolting?

ok for sure partly its the chargers fault because the wire itself has been bent along where the connector is, because i was using the phone without the charger and im gettting results before the overclock. could you tell me the governor and schedule for the cpu? thanks.
BTW, if i shut down the phone, it will charge, but a bit slower than before. AND, could anybody tell me if wiping batterystats.info will be any good?

Wiping the battery stats will do nothing for your issue.
In Performance, stock Samsung is Min CPU 384Mhz, Max CPU 1512Mhz, and OnDemand / Deadline I believe. It may be Interactive / Deadline.

What is battery temp when it shuts off. The Wifi tethers usually have the temp up for a reason. If the battery gets to hot it may shut off.
Use the acs syndicate rom. I do and have it pluged in the charger when tethering. I've let it go for over 3 hours and it was fine

If you are getting 1-2 hours of tethered WIFI before it gets too hot you are doing pretty good The only issue I have had since upgrading to the new 1.1.1 is the WIFI tether would cause my battery to get very hot, very quickly(like 15 to 20 mins). I tried all the fixes I could find in various thread but ultimately the one that solved it was Odin back to stock and reflash the ROM. I also got rid of voltage control and went with setCPU alone set @ conservative 200-1300, and its running fast and strong! It still gets hot after an hour or more of tethering but that is very rare when i would ever need to tether that long...lol.
Thanks to all contributors for the killer ROM !

If you are using Voltage control or some other app for this, the default voltages are usually listed and you have the option of reducing it in 25 mV steps. If you have not changed anything then it should be OK.

Well I'm using juice defender I have it on custom with basically everything checked. It claims I'm at 1.75x battery. I'm on Aokp with faux 10r2 kernel. I'm at 1.06 ghz interactive. I'm now under 50% battery with barely an hour screen time and like three hours phone on. What am I doing wrong this has never been so bad.

Try franco kernel build #11...works great for most...im averaging 18hrs with 3hrs of screen time (all this with a stock battery)
Sounds good but I thought his and faux kernels were basically the same but faux gets better battery?. I've noticed my phone doesn't ever really deep sleep either.

3g shuts off when my screens off. I fail to see how that cant save me battery. Also juice defender is using about 1-2% battery.

Quick question regarding the Franco Kernel...
Today I flashed to the latest version along with AOKP - seemed to be a good mix till I went to make a call and realized any call I made/received dropped in a matter of 3 seconds lol...
Does that sound like a kernel issue or possibly the rom? I had enabled power saver so wasn't sure if that may have done something...
Are you on a cdma or GSM phone? I have this combo on cdma and I'm fine...

constantly running app is not useful at all. It may drain your battery
Don't worry man I'm patient. Go into your settings for the phone. So for stock aokp go into the app drawer and go to the settings "app" the first thing on that list is rom control. The second to last thing in from control is performance settings.

I had same problem. For me the fix was getting LeanKernel 2.0.
4 hrs screen on time! Its the best for my phone. Since all kernels are device specific it might not be best for you.
To get it go to T-Mobile gs3 go to original dev and download lean kernel 2.0. Make sure its 2.0.
T-Mobile and AT&T work the same. If you use one of the other 4.2 ROMs on here I think Liquid smooth it comes with Lean kernel pre installed.

I would suggest to update to his latest version. It no longer RC.

If that kernel doesnt work for you, you can always try Ktoonsez kernel here:

But for me personally, his kernel and the stock kernel that comes with Task's ROM always make my phone hot and battery drains faster. But many people report those kernels work great for them.

The same thing happens to me. It's not really hot, it's just kind of warm. It only happens when I'm using the phone, when it's locked it sleeps just fine and keeps cool. Otherwise it heats up and drains my battery in the process. CPU Spy shows my clock speed switches between 384Mhz and 1.5 Ghz depending on what I'm doing. My CPU usage isn't consistently high, even if its at 10% it still does it, seems quite normal. I can turn off data, wifi, bluetooth, and location services, doesn't help at all. I've tried resetting my battery stats, where I charged to 100%, cleared stats, depleted fully, then charged too 100% fully. No different. The heat comes from the bottom of the phone, maybe closer to the right side about an inch from the bottom, it is not coming from the battery. My battery usage shows high usage on the Media process or the Android System process. Ending either of them does not help, so I'm assuming they aren't actually using the battery like it says they are.
I'm running Liquid Smooth 4.2 beta 2, same as OP, with leankernel 2.2. It does the same thing with KT kernel, I've tried undervolting but it persists. I've also had this issue running slimbean, Liquidsmooth RC8, and RC9. My battery was pretty good when I used to run stock, and it was absolutely amazing when I ran LiquidSmooth RC3 and RC5.
I was wondering if anyone can confirm the following for me. I have an AT&T Galaxy SIII running Samsung's stock Android 4.1.2 ROM. The phone is not rooted, it's 100% pure stock. My question is does this phone's CPU always run at max speed unless the CPU Power Saving option is enabled? I'm asking because when running Cyanogenmod 10.1 M1 I get significantly better battery life and I'm wondering if Samsung's stock ROM is not automatically adjusting the processor's speed based on workload like I'm assuming Cyanogenmod does. My phone has a 4500mah extended battery and with Samsung's stock ROM the battery is down to 20% after 10 hours even if the phone is idling with the screen off most of that time. With the previously mentioned Cyanogenmod ROM my phone's battery is down to 55-60% after 10 hours. Can anyone confirm this behavior?

i think that it has to do with the roms lately and battery stats has nothing to do with it and battery calibration wont solve the problem either
has to be rom based
Not sure about 4.2.2 roms, but its been a known bug on 4.1.2 since official jb came out, and is on roms based off it o believe!
Nothing we can do....yet.
