[Q] Crossflash sl rom to s?? - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hey guys, if xperia sl owners can flash xperia s roms, can we flash xperia sl's official jb on s and get a mild speed bump. Maybe 1080p could be recorded again?
Right now I am on official jb, rooted and bl unlocked.
Thanks

I'm pretty sure I read before somewhere not to flash back the other way due to the S being older it lacks something the SL has. Hopefully someone can confirm
Sent from my 4.2.2 Xperia S via Tapatalk

Thanks anyways,
I would have experimented myself but coming from galaxy's I am not sure I could make my even soft bricked xperia work again. Bootloaders are a headache!

Bump
Anyone knows the answer? Still waiting u know

note
Sony Xperia S and SL are almost identical its just that SL is over-clocked.. simple as. flashing a SL ROM on S wouldn't make even a tiny difference
take note , that some Xperias can handle above 1.7ghz clock on the CPU my Xperia s can handle the CPU to be over clocked but it depends on the voltage of that clock ,
for more info please reply

I know, I myself oc'ed my xperia to 1.89ghz.
But currently there is no custom kernel that can be oc'ed, aand camera video @ 1080p is really laggy, thats why I was thinking of crossflash.
And I think sl has a different bluetooth version as well.
Has anyone tried this before?

And I am thinking of flashing it via flashtool. So can anyone tell me that if my device gets soft bricked, I put it in download mode and flash a compatible rom right?

There is a custom kernel that allows you to overclock to 1728 MHz. Try the new DoomKernel . So no need to crossflash.

I've flashed SL ftf on my s and it went fine

Thanks for the help guys.
Didnt know new jb had any custom kernels will try doomkernel now as I dont want the hassle to flash a custom recovery and root again.

Flashed doomkernel, working great at 1.7ghz. Can anyone help me with undervolting??

Can anyone help with undervolting? Flashed doomkernal, working great from last eight hours.

Acro S, S and SL pretty much share the same stock rom. However from what I believe the rom was edited a little bit to make it compatible with the devices it works on. I would be working on Acro S rom on SL after i get a hold of an SL. But it depends. I got no budget now. I would make Customizable roms if I can get a hold of all 3 Devices FTF files from the first stock rom till the most recent roms. I only have the Acro S first till the latest stock rom. Only thing I need now is people helping me to get back ups of STOCK ROMS from SL. Xperia S i prety much have an Idea of where to get it from.
Very good bro
Take your time do some quality work
So, what is the final verdict? Can I take the CM10 for Xperia S and just flash it? Would it work? I am planning on finding out tomorrow anyways

My SL working fine. Just shows Xperia S instead of Xperia SL in about phone. Gonna try editing build.prop Check my siggy for my rom details.
Wondering if my kernel supports overclocking.

Is it better to stick with a stock Xperia SL or to root, unlock and install a custom kernel and rom on it? Just wanting to know because I may soon want to do it or maybe not, depending on how it is from your experience.
i have already rooted it but don't know what to do next?? Are there any custom roms available for SL?

[Q] disadvantages of updating xperia arc s to ICS

hey guyz,
i am using sony ericsson xperia arc s (LT18i). current OS android gingerbread 2.3.4. when i connected to pc companion it showed an update. but i heard that ICS is not suitable for xperia arc s. there are some prb with updating arc s to ICS. i mean after updating arc s to ICS there occurs some bugs related or other problem after updating xperia arc s. so can anyone tell me in details. lyk wat are the disadvantages of updating arc s to ICS.
thank u.....
Well stock ICS is pretty bad and laggy so you can look for custom roms like CM... Sony didn't make a very good ICS update even though they released it early. I recommend custom roms However if you want to keep your BL locked, there are roms that are for you too just search and you shall find

I'm assuming your phone's bootloader is locked (which is normal), so here's 2 roms that are pretty popular, based on ics, and makes your phone run like dual core
Jelly Sandwhich
Xperia Ultimate HD

Don't listen to these helmets bad advice stock 587 is great. Stay clear of supercharger it will cause a tonne of lag on ics.

I agree with lofty, the stock ICS .587 is working great. Very stable and everything works 100%. My own experience with custom roms and super duper extremely fast scripts is also that they create more problems and makes your phone unstable or cause other unexepected behaviors.
It is an "old" phone with single core and no super scripts or custom roms will make up for the single core and low memory. And yet it is my preffered phone on .587 even compared to my wifes experia S.
I have no issues with the stock rom. I updated andreo libs (gpu drivers)
Now the rom is even more faster

It is not as smooth as GB for me. Fairly laggier, do you guys agree?
+1, had been using stock Ics and custom roms for sometime then back to arconium gb. It's still the best rom for my arc S.
I'm using 587 fw on my Neo and is running very smooth ( almost like GB) but it is almost unusable for hard games. But i'm not using it for gaming, i'm using it more for media, and with the latest apps from Xperia T, is awesome. So if you want to use it more for gaming, stay with Gingerbread, otherwise upgrade to ICS because IMO is way better than Gingerbread. BTW, i've tried almost every custom rom, and always i've returned to stock, because it's simply the best.

Stock ICS .587 is excellent. There are a lot more features in it than in GB, I didn't notice any speed difference between GB and ICS other than the Google voice search and Recent apps (hold menu button) take a bit longer to start up the first time (they are quick after that).
I would recommend rooting ICS using this guide: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/41119?start=0&tstart=0
Rooting will allow you to run an app from the Play Store which can uninstall those pesky bloatware apps.
And if you suppercharge ICS it's even better - even if you only supercharge 50%!!!!

Cheers.
Enjoy the update!

It's laggy thanks to bloatware and not being fully optimized. Custom ROMs and/or tweaking at your own will remove lag problem!

Hmm not really. Maybe in some games... Just root, de-bloatware, update adreno libs and install supremacy script, and the GB smoothness is there

Xperia S roms work at Xperia SL?

Hi my friends, i m sorry my bad english,
i have Xperia SL and i like roms (miui,cm9 ..)
my ask= xperia s roms work at my xperia sl?
i dont want bad camera and slow speed
Yes it will work, but then the SL CPU maximum frequency will be 1.5 GhZ. not 1.7
Depending on what rom etc you pick you can just add a compatible overclocking kernel to put you back to 1.7 ghz

xperia S and xperia SL rom difference

hello everyone
sorry to ask but idk wat the difference between xpeia s and sl i know that the diff in processor power but why we cant make rom for sl to give us 1.7 gh !!
wat is the file responsible for that ! ,, any one know ?!
Cpu speed is set by kernel, so if you put a SXS kernel on a SXSL you will get the S's speed
Use a kernel that allow you to overclock and set it back to 1.7
Do not install SL kernel on SXS. SL has better bt when SXS has older one. Kernel from SL flashed can brick your phone.

You can't OC when you have locked bootloader, you have to unlock bootloader, flash custom kernel then you'll be able to OverClock higher.

This topic is not about overclocking.
He has Arc S, which should have stock CPU frequency of 1.4 GHz, however new ROM set it to 1.0 GHz.
To OP: When installing the ROM, did you install the Arc S version?
. Arc S, Non unlockable, xperia Honami Z1 rom by Saqib. Ask for anything else....
Flashed through cwm. also tried to reflash stock and than the Honami rom, I also got this when using the Ultimate HD rom.
Someguy theres just one version for both..
