Hi,
I just converted my R800x to an R800i by swapping the motherboards and the antennas on the middle housing. I got most of the pointers from 216Monster's excellent tutorial here-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1547756
So here's the story; I bought a R800i from Australia that was an 'ex demo' model which doesn't read SIMs, but what I received was a beautifully mint Verizon R800x in a R800i box! After contacting the seller regarding her mistake, she vehemently denied the existence of the R800x, Verizon USA and CDMA technology in general  I was offered a full refund through eBay but since posting the phone back to Australia was troublesome, I decided to keep it with me and see what I could do with it. After reading 216Monster's tutorial, I decided to track another R800i down for parts. I found one that was essentially a motherboard and the middle housing for a decent amount and swapped the parts out last week. As a bonus, the previous owner had already rooted the phone and installed xdarkICS V0.1!:good:

This "chip" was loose on the R800i motherboard and subsequently fell off. I still have it but I don't know how it will be soldered on to the board again. What is it and what does it do? The phone works fine though.
I'll be updating to xdarkICS V0.2 as soon as I get a microSD.
Regards.
Jay.
What clock app is that in the screen pic? It looks nice
Sent from my Xperia Play (r800x)
It's an option offered in the widget. I'm still new to the whole Android scene so I can't say what's what. I'll post a photo of it if you like. This is my first 'SMART' phone after a Nokia 6600! I still couldn't get over the fact that I had to retire my trusty Nokia 3310 though, I used it for nine years straight!
So...after using the Xperia for a couple of days, I've come across some faults that I need your help on.
1. Once the battery is low (30% or less/one quarter of battery life remaining), the touch screen becomes unresponsive and I can't unlock the homescreen.
2. I removed the battery to restart it after the touchscreen froze and the phone keeps loading to the CWM recovery screen. I reboot it through recovery but it always ends up at this screen. This has happened twice and the first time it booted properly after some time.
3. Sliding the gamepad out causes the phone to reboot.
I'm on V0.1 at the moment and I'm going to update to V0.2 tomorrow, anything special I need to know? I can't recall what Kernel version I've got though.
Regards.

You should download flashtool if you havent already and download the stock ftf for your version. You can use this to get back to stock and you should flash it if you need to do a fresh install. That way there will be less problems and the Rom will be smoother.
Off topic: How is xdark ics Rom so far? Have you tried any games ion it? Are they smooth playing?

Thanks for replying. This time the phone is stuck on DooMLorDs CWM-based recovery screen. I've been trying to get it to work all morning and it still comes back to this screen. I read online that a zip named "exitrecovery.zip" can be used to solve the CWMrecovery boot loop but it didn't work on mine. I downloaded Flashtool and R800i_4.0.2.A.0.58_Enhanced FTF so I'm just going to bring it back to stock for now.
I've read FMAs tutorials on this but is there anything I should know regarding kernels? I'm running DooMLord Kernel I think (The DooMLord logo appears when I boot the phone)

Well you should just pull the battery and flash the ftf then do a fresh install of everything then you probably won't have any problems

Hi,
Thanks for replying. I used flashtool and flashed the enhanced 0.58 ftf but I still get the recovery screen. I then continued to flash the V0.2 xDark ICS ROM but still no improvement. I followed this tutorial for the ftf flash-

Did everything it says and checked the "exclude kernel" box. Is my problem something to do with my kernel? At this moment I just want the phone to work!
Regards.
I would try changing the kernel, see if it solves the cwm problems, then go back to stock.

Yes, that occurred to me as well. I don't know what kernel to flash though. I will be attempting to flash this kernel (DooMLorD's)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1176502
I'm open to suggestions so let me know if you know of a different/appropriate kernel.
I'm also downloading "R800i_4.0.2.A.0.58_Generic Hong Kong Trade.ftf" as well in case the "R800i_4.0.2.A.0.58_Enhanced.ftf" I've been flashing through Flashtool has something wrong with it.
Regards.
EDIT: Just saw abdel12345's reply. Is this the kernel you mentioned?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167766
I'll give it a go. How do you go about flashing it? The instructions are a bit complicated! Also, what are the two MD5 versions mentioned there?
Flash the ftf again, but don't check the exclude kernel box, because if you check it, it will keep your Kernel and the phone won't boot
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the suggestion, funnies7. So what will the current kernel be replaced with if I don't check the "exclude kernel" box? Stock or a Custom Kernel?
Regards.
So, after flash the ftf, before turn on the phone I recommend you to flash doomkernel v14 and then turn on the phone, on first boot don't touch it for 5 minutes, after that reboot it, complete the setup wizard, you will notice some lag, don't worry just download no frills app from playstore give it root permissions and change the max voltage to 1,1Ghz and this is it

But he wants xdark ics so yes you should flash the kernel I told you about. Do what he said and flash the ftf then flash lupus kernel. After that wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache with cwm then flash the xdark ics Rom you wanted with cwm. Let it sit for a little to settle in and you'll be fine. But ics isn't that good for gaming so heavy games like gta will probably give you lag

Thank you both! I found out what MD5 is and how to check it and the Lupus kernel I downloaded matched. Now my question is, how do you flash this Lupus kernel? I re-read the thread over and over again and I still can't figure out how it's done.
Can it be done through Fastboot? (similar to DoomKernel flashing)?
Regards.
Yes You can flash it the same way as doomkernel

Thanks. So the phone boots up after the enhanced FTF was flashed along with the stock kernel. Now it seems my touch screen isn't working! I don't understand it, it was working fine on Sunday just before it froze on me and started booting to the CWM recovery. Do you think it's a software related issue? Is it because I flashed 0.58.?
EDIT: I flashed LuPuS Stock GB+ICS kernel through Fastboot and I can get to the home screen. Problem is my touch screen is still unresponsive! It started working once but that's it. I'll be flashing xDarkV0.2 or ICS Express in the afternoon, I'll post my results here. I got into LuPuS CWM recovery and did a factory reset but still no touchscreen! Very frustrating.
I'm about to flash xDark now because I can't download ICS express through the xda page (mega.co.nz won't work).
Regards.

I don't know what's up with the touchscreen. It deems like a digitizer problem. But for recovery keep pressing the volume down button when the phone vibrates while turning on.

Thanks for that! I flashed xDark V0.2 without a problem but still no touchscreen. I'm going to take the phone apart and see why it's unresponsive.
So going through system information, I am told that my device is a R800x! It's supposed to say R800i, isn't it? The SIM is in and I can take/receive calls though. Here's what it says-
Model Number R800x
Android version 4.0.3
Kernel Lupus stock gb+ics-v5
Build number XDark ICS V0.2
Why is it identifying my device as an R800x?

I was thinking that since Sony, by MHO did a pretty decent job with the latest ICS update .587 for our devices (nothing new yes, but much faster compared to .431), it'd be great if someone with the know-how, would take latest stock ROM, root it, supercharged it and removed bloatware.
I managed to root it using 4.0.3. method (flash-root-flash) and also removed bloatware (using this post as a reference) and baby flies. Supercharging it would squeeze even more out of our devices.
Also, it'd be great if someone could take newest .587 kernel, integrated CWM and governors, maybe unlock CPU. Currently I'm actually running latest stock on ArcKnight kernel 3.5.1 with ArcKnight libs and it works great, although I have a feeling that performance is slightly better on a stock .587 kernel.
I'd be willing to donate few bucks to the one who does it, who else is with me?
yep I would be willing to do that as I am sick of waiting for standard release on my ARC
also very simple idiot proof instructions on how to install it
.587 is incompatibile with V6 Supercharge.
i have this update on my arc s i could root it with the 4.0.3 method and i already have installed the CWM with the xparts apk found on google play i just need the full system dump to begin the modifications

Hallo, yesterday i supercharged my phone xperia arc with latest ICS update .587,
i used v6 supercharger (V6_SuperCharger_for_Android-Update 11)
i had busy box v1.8.4, while supercharging it asked me about services.jar and services.odex, and it said to me that i had an old one (cause i did supercharged my phone when it was on .487 too) and i pressed to use the old services ... when the supercharge ended and my phone restarted it took like 10 minutes and i saw it was keep restarting and restarting, i re-entered my battery near 30 times and re - opened it but still the same, i tried to hard reset, with all the ways i could and nothing happened, and now my phone doesnt open at all, only restarts and restarts..
Any idea how i can fix this?

I need a big help on the following issue.
A few hours ago I flashed my Xperia Arc S from Jelly Sandwich 4.1 to 7.0
Did the full wipe cache thing etc.
Have chosen in Aroma the Xperia T stuff and as thema Xperia Stock
Everything went ok, so I continued installing my backupped apps. Sofar I had no problems.
After I installed everything I needed, I wanted to change my background, so I pushed on the upper left on top of a screen
and I have chosen for Xperia Background Gallery (100 backgrounds)
When I selected a nice background, the phone was going in a black screen and it was not possible to do anything with my phone.
Suddenly my phone tried to start up again, but that went wrong.
The only thing happens is that my ArcKnight kernel is trying to boot, I see the screen ArcKnight for a second of 10 and it fades away.
It's not possible to go in CWM cause the home button doesn"t flash. I tried to remove the battery, but that doesn"t help.
It is also not possible to turn off the phone. The on/off button doesn't work either.
My Phone is an Arc S
ArcKnight kernel 3.5.1 with WiFi modules
Baseband 77
Jelly Sandwich 7.0
Android 4.1.1
Cause it's my first post I had to place the question in this section
I hope someone can help me getting my phone in the air again.

Yeah something has gone wrong, probably related to the kernel (not sure because my bootloader's locked). You'll have to flash a rootable stock rom, flash it, install cwm, and install JS 7 again. Maybe something wasn't installed correctly previously =/

Hello All,
First time post and as an offering, I will say 'thanks' to anyone that responds in a positive manner to my post (trying to win some friends)
Here's my issue, I have an Arc S LT18i.
Unlocked bootloader and rooted.
Whenever I flash anything custom the touch screen fails to respond, i've flashed LupusV7, slim bean 3.1 and 3.2 (with arc fusion 3.6 and 4.5) and Super Jelly Bean. All seemingly start without any issues and the physical buttons work no problem. BUT the screen refuses to work in anyway at all!!
I have made sure I wiped the system, cache and delvak (sp?)
Any help greatly appreciated, I am a NOOB but underneath it all I'm just trying to make the most of this wonderful Arc S...
Anything you want to know, please ask away...
Please help.
Namaste

I flashed stock ICS .587 (world india) from this site talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35239

And then followed the rest of the instructions, the exact same thing happens... buttons work but the touch screen does not!?

Hello, thanks for the reply...
According to the Slim Bean page, I can use ANY kernel with that rom. But also, if I just have the Lupusv7 Kernel on there, the touch screen doesn't work within that, so not a ROM/Kernel conflict I belive.
I've also tried other Kernel/ROM combinations, same thing keeps on happening. Touchscreen works 100% with a SE restore, stock ROM.
Any other ideas please??

Hello,
As previously mentioned, the reccomended kernel is Lupusv7, When i flash this Kernel into recovery mode, all looks well but as it has a touch screen interface this still doesn't work!
I'm presuming that it cannot be a conflict as it's happen before I instll the new ROM etc... the touch screen doesn't even work within the GUI of the Lupusv7 kernel.
I can get multiple ROMS to load with different kernels but so far, none have booted with the touch screen working!!
I am very much a noob but have read loads of articles on how this should be done, unless i'm missing something very obvious which isn't stated then I dont see anyone else having this issue.
Any clues people? :good:

Hello Someguyfromhell,
I haven't used AROMA, the guides i've been reading haven't mentioned this!?
This is the process I went through:
flashed stock ICS ROM
flashed kernel
wipe data/cache/davlik
flashed rom
rebooted, ROM loads up and the touch screen doesn't work.
Any help you can give me on AROMA, links etc?
I'm looking right now, but a 'leg up' would be great.
Thanks for the reply.
Ricky
here what to do
- Make sure you had installed Official 4.0.4 ftf pack
- When flashing official ftf pack remember to exclude / tick these things:
1. simlock.ta (Exclude TA)
2. Kernel.sin (Exclude kernel)
3. FOTA (Exclude FOTA)
After flash successful, power on your phone and let it start completely
- Now you can start to install any ROM
1.Flash the Recommended Kernel: Vengeance , KTG Anzu , RUSH
2. Place ROM on SD card
3. Power off the phone and boot into CWM
3. Backup and restore > choose Backup
4. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
5. Mounts and storage > Format /system
6. Advanced > Wipe battery stats
7. Install zip from SD card > Choose the rom
8. if rom uses aroma Follow on screen instructions on AROMA, remember to choose "Unlocked bootloader" and also the correct kernel modules and of course the correct phone model
9. After complete installation tick "Reboot" and let the phone restart
10. Give the phone a good full charge, and enjoy ur phone !

ok man, you've got the same problem like me
First thing, all roms that make your touch screen doesn't work will based on cm (e.g. cm10, slim, any jb).
and ALL STOCK roms will get no problem.
There's lot of people here got this problem and still has no clue why this problem occure to ours, so sad story.
Someone says that the touch screen firmware sould be updated to the lastest version, but i don't know how.
One solution that i found is, remove the battery to turn off then turn it on to reboot again and again. If you lucky enough, the touch screen will work like a miracle!
and the success rate is also <50% ( based on my experience only)

Or even a ROM with guide where it says this? I'm very happy to follow that to get this working. I have no preference to CM10, Slim Bean, Racing Bean etc... as of yet i've not been able to use any of them.

Did you manage to get any JB ROM working? If so, which one, just so I can try that also...
Does anyone else have an idea on how to update the touch screen firmware?
Really appreciate the feedback, thank you one and all!!

This solution is the one that i think it can move some files which related to touch screen.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34593771&postcount=23
But sorry, it still get sometimes for the touch screen didn't response :crying:
However, as i mentioned above; you can get ALL jb rom working :fingers-crossed:
But depends on your luck. Just turn it off when the touch screen didn't response, then turn it on again (and again) untill it work.
I hoped that the new linux kernel will solve this...

I have same issue have tried many stock based roms and kernels no problem but any CM based rom I have no touchscreen.
You can reboot and about 1 in 5 times it will work
Maybe it only affects certain versions of the phone. I even tried re-locking bootloader and doing official sony update then tried CM again I tried 7.1,9 and 10
same problem.
Here's where I am...
UPDATE:
So, here is where I am. Using advice from previous replies I have managed to install Xperia Ultimate HD and this is working off of the Lupus kernel without any issues. I'm still unable to get ANY Jelly Bean roms working...
Maybe my device will just not work on JB :crying:
Any other tips or tricks are greatly appreciated, would love to get JB working on here my beloved Arc S.
Ricky :good:
Any news here?
I have the same issue over here with a colleagues LT18i
I have same problem, touch screen doesn't work on many different kernels... only work on stock kernel
Any news about this problem?
Hi all!
[n00b warning]
First of all, im sorry, but i am a n00b, (as hard as it gets in flashing phones)
But i have searched all night and i dont seem to find anything that helpes me.
Some Days ago i rooted and flashed CM9 to my GF phone via CWM, worked like a charm, yesterday it was my turn.
[/n00b warning]
I first rooted (confirmd) and unlocked my bootloader (confirmd) and flashed CWM (confirmd).
In CWM boot mode i wiped all by the book in PAC thread. then when i installed the ROM is stoped on some error about LT26i string was missing.
Now to the stupid part: after that i rebooted the phone, and it just hangs on "SONY" i cant access CMW anymore (i guess the CMW start lies in ROM kernel on boot, and i erased it?)
and without CMW i cant try again, i cant recover old ROM i cant do anything...
BUT! the phone works on both BLUE (fastboot?) and GREEN (flash?) mode, so i can access it in SDK,
I have Another phone just like it, but no root or bootloader, with a broken screen but it works (cant se 2/3 of screen and touch only works the bottom 2cm) can i use that phone to get a hand on stock ROM or anything that helps me?
Please, can anyone help? or Point me in right direction?
Thanks in advance!

Dude,
Try using flashtool to flash back to stock ftf.
This will wipe the data on your phone though.

This seems the best plan of action, flash stock through flashtool, you will sacrifice your data but at the minute you have a soft brick!!
This may be a silly question but have you tried a hard reset!!

Big thanks 4 reply!
I will try that!
all i need is to get the mirrors working, yesterday (and today) "uploaded.to" hates me, i cant download, all i get is a *.js JavaScript file and i I try again i already used my 3hour free slot, but i will try again.
data aint problem thus bootloader unlock already erased all (and i Think i did with CWM)
the only problem is i Think is that i deleted the phones boot file (am i right? still Learning here! =) )

Yes, hard reset (3vibes) is the only way to kill the phone so it dosent hang on SONY (built-in battery, cant kill it that way).
As i write the flash is finished with working phone!
I Owe you guys alot! Thanks!
No i will just start over with root and ROM! =)
Some trivia about Xperia S:
The Xperia S was a state-ot-the-art phone just about a year ago, Fast, all the good stuff and so on.
Now, as the flashtool and ROM was downloaded the battery in phone was dead, so i decided to switch batteries from the broke-screen-phone, and i saw something funny!
The whole phone (mobo) is only at the size of a SODIMM (laptop RAM module) and in that litte mobo its
*a computer with dualcore CPU and a pretty powerfull GPU
*3G network transmitter/reciever
*WiFi & AP reciever/transmitter
*true GPS reciever
*FM radio reciever
*NFC reciever/transmitter
*Bluetooth reciever/transmitter
*and so on
the Tech is pretty awesome today!

Maybe a noob question: Flashing your ROM means I will have my DRM functions restored?

I'm interested in this as well. Does flashing your rom restore BIONZ processing, making all the steps in the linked thread un-necesarry?
Also, anyway to check if BIONZ is working or not?

I'm currently on a locked bootloader so I can't verify if it'll work without having to flash an ftf with TA beforehand. Best thing to do is try it yourself.
If x-reality is working, bionz is working.
I flashed this ROM and my Z1 does not boot at all. When i press the power button, it vibrates once and that's all.
I flashed a stock rom, re-installed recovery and created a pre-rooted zip based on the SG customized firmware. The result was the same. Black screen, no sign of activity.
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong here?
My device is a C6903 and worked just fine with the pre-rooted .242
Thanks!
facing problems...
After i do google and further debloat... dun even have app store to install my apps. I also unable to add my google account at Settings > Accounts...
Its great to have a RAM free rom... but what the point of having so much ram when there's nothing else u can do with the phone. I did try installing Google Play Store apk but it just simply crashes...
Please dun be offended as I still feel this ROM is a well done rom, I might just missed out something.

The google debloat is only optional. If you don't flash it, you'll get to keep the play store.
I personally don't use the play store and download my apps from apkmirror or evozi
Okay, can share more what does further debloat do? I can do that without google debloat right?

Further debloat removes some of the bloat that I forgot to remove from the main rom itself and also the setup wizards. So make sure to use it only after booting your device and going through the setup.

Yes.
I've tried flashing this twice and have ended up softbricking twice. I think the issue may be because of the wiping of system, which I have honestly never had to do before, so I'll try once again, and if it doesn't work I guess I'll just find something else.
EDIT: Yep, nothing I do seems to really be working, probably just getting bad downloads on my end though.
compatible with c6902?
Is this compatible with xperia z1 ,c6902?

Flashed without issues coming from CM12.1 (the terrible, terrible photo-quality and some in-call sound issues recently always make me return to stock). I just took care to follow instructions and flash a pre-rooted .2.4.2 rom prior to flashing this.
The rom feels really really smooth, it's lovely so far.
edit: One issue thus far is some incompatibility on the Play Store, for instance Galaxy On Fire - Alliances. I can download it on any rom (CM/stock) except this one. Anyway to fix this?
edit2: Are dpi values changed for the launcher? I've tried a couple of xposed modules but I can't seem to get rid of that empty edge. The grid size is weird... it's like 4x4 but really crowded, with nasty-looking empty margins.
I tried a couple of apps to change dpi values to default, but they wouldn't read current dpi and no new values could be applied. Maybe this is linked to the Play Store incompatibilities.
How must I install it? Always I installed it (from official .242 and .270 too with RockZ1 Kernel) I had many bugs on this ROM, please help me

Please help, I'v also got the same problems. I follow everything, but now my phone can not turn on anymore, can not charge. Everytime I press power button, it only vibrate once, but still off. Please help me.
I do the steps from Kitkat and using latest DUAL RECOVERY TWRP.
Thank you in advance

I fond the solutions for my problems. I test Fastboot at It work. When Power Off, press Volume Up and connect the USB Cable, then I can detect my phone with command: fastboot devices
After that, using Flashtools and install any FTF source with Kitkat 108, then flash it using Flashtools at computer PC. Prepare downloaded FTF files about 1 GB size at the same computer drive, then run Flashtools and then connect Press Volume Down and connect with USB cable, after that Flashtools display will show that my phone detected / connected, and continue with flashing FTF files, the process about 10 minutes less, and after finish flashing, disconnect USB cable, press Power button and YES it work again.
After that I have to install again with TWRP and install any Stock preroot firmware.

I had the exact same problem. Ended up going back to my nandroid backup.
I am on locked bootloader. Not sure if that is the problem.
@Ahki767 could you please post md5 of the package? I am trying to make sure my download is not corrupt.

if you're still on this rom, you can change the dpi in /system/build.prop look for lcd_density and change it to 480 (original value). only thing i can think of for incompatibility is maybe an out of date play services
