My wife just got a Note 2 for me, N7100.
Till now was using i9003 but finally got tired due to not getting new ROM's and poor battery life.
I have experience with rooting / CWM and installing custom ROMs but have some questions :
1) How to root the note 2?
2) Do I need to install CWM?
3) Should I go for a custom ROM or stay with stock for a while and check out the features?
4) Which is a good custom ROM with excellent battery life and good features? (Bad question I think)
5) What is this flash counter thing? Never heard this issue on the i9003 or other forums??
Appreciate any advices and looking forward to using this awesome phone.

Yes, I have downloaded the Toolkit. I thought General section was best to ask questions. Not sure if I have to install CWM or not?

Yes, thinking of staying stock for a while to check out all the features. But definitely want to root as I want to backup my apps and data with TiB. Hence wanted to know rooting / CWM procedure.
An advice on a good custom ROM would be appreciated also.

Hi there,
I've currently got a Moto Atrix but I'm looking for a change really.
I'm looking at getting an sgs3 on T-Mobile (UK) hence why I've posted here
Just got a few questions:
Is the bootloader unlocked as standard? - From what I've read we can just Odin(?) A new recovery and then flash away?
And in general how easy is it to start flashing new roms etc?
On the attic it went like this:
Root > unlock bootloader > flash new recovery > flash any rom, kernel or radio etc
Should I go for the s3?

With t-mobile sgs3 you can just install custom recovery root and flash away. The bootloader is already unlocked. You will love the sgs3:good:
Here's a link with all the info you need http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1723175

Have you looked at this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2540998
It has a couple different Roms with the newest 4.3 ota firmware WITHOUT flashing the bootloaders. I personally had used LoserSkaters version and enewmans version with no real issues at all (other than I cannot flash my vr theme, but that might be something on my end). As far as being stable and everything working I have no problems.

First of, don't hijack threads, if you have a question start a new one.
And second, this is the reason I don't use cynanogen mod. There's a lot of random bugs.
And third, you might want to update to the latest version of cynanogen mod. Cm7 is pretty old.

Hello all. A friend of mine just recently received the Verizon GNex running stock 4.2.2. He seems to have the battery draining and overheating issues that 4.2.2 causes. My question is, do I go with 4.3 or 4.4? Which rom would be the most stable? Where do I go to find out how to unlock the bootloader (if it's needed) and how to root/flash custom recovery on this phone? Sorry for the noob questions but I own a galaxy S3 and know nothing about this phone. I would appreciate the help. Thanks.

For unlocking the bootloader and rooting, Follow this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23229558&postcount=1
If you don't get the hang of it then this will do http://www.androidrootz.com/2012/08/how-to-root-galaxy-nexus-jelly-bean-ice.html
I would suggest you to jump to 4.4, you can find many Roms in the development thread, personally I use cmetal rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2532320, its insanely fast and stable. You can also try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2286506 , it has few more features and is stable.
Make sure you update to the latest recovery before you flash any 4.4 rom.
Hey. I'm kind of new to rooting the Galaxy Note II (Though I've had an android phone before, and it was rooted).
I would be glad if you could give me some guides on how to root the phone, installing SuperSU, CWM, etc.
Also, I'm rooting the phone so I will be able to install this mod : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537186.
Will I be able to install this on my Note II N7100 that has FULLY STOCK rom (United Kingdom).
Or do I have to install a fully new rom?
If so, can you please add a link to a rom (that has these Note 3 features) that you recommend? A a guide for installing it?
Thank you so much!!

Root:
Framaroot if you're on 4.1.1/2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276)
CF-Auto Root for 4.3 (you'll have to flash recovery manually for this I think) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545363)
The Mod:
I don't think u can do that... u could try. Just keep a nandroid backup with u in case anything goes wrong.
ROM that has Note 3 features:
Ditto Note 3 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2504016)
P.S. All links will be up soon.

Hey guys. Coming from Win-mo where everything is just straight forward so this stuff is pretty new. I am trying to find a Kitkat rom for my T-mo S2. I can't seem to find any threads specifically talking about branded phones.
Can anyone help me out here? Info
The phone isn't rooted and on stock jellybean 4.1.2.
If you can direct me to some step by step threads or even better actually telling me what to do step by step it'd be appreciated. Thank you.
I presume you have a SGH T-989 ? If so, you're in the wrong place, your thread belongs here. I've asked mods to move your thread, sit tight until they do.
Yeah I realized that after I posted, I just couldn't figure out what the differences were. Thank you for the help.

Cyanogenmod 11 runs Kit Kat. You can download it from the official page. As for the actual flashing, you need to have root and the latest Clockworkmod installed, as I have read about some issues if you try to flash it with other custom recoveries or older versions of it.
You don't need to root. Just flash the recovery and flash the rom. The rom itself is rooted. If you want to root your stock rom flash the su zip in recovery
