anyone please, do you have an idea?
i have the latest version, and i want a way to root it
tanks in advance for answers
NO. As stated on numerous threads.
You'll have to wait for the OTA update which is rolling out. thanhss in another thread said that he did receive the update for his Neo and he retained root.

And as said in the other thread, that is for the Neo, Arc users are told to update using PC Companion, which means you lose root.
Yup, I did mention that it was for the Neo but it does support the fact that in the near future, the arc too would get the OTA update. So let's keep our fingers crossed. LOL!
Its seems same question is repeating itself in new threads all day long.
Of course, everyone is eager to get the latest firmware. But why, oh why, can't they use the Search??

Makes you wonder why Arc users are asked to use PCC then.
LOL! We be scapegoats for them? Just kidding but it's normal that the PCC version comes out before the OTA.
Perhaps it's just the whim and fancy of the all-knowing guys over at SE
Thank you guys
but i wthink arc will never get the OTA update, cuz neo was even more developed before this final version, that is ow se is
saw someone post hk version got ota update, u could flash back to 2.3.2 (hk version)+ gingerbreak it, then do ota

Greetings , I urgently require some help frm someone who knws something, I have got my arc replaced by SE after the 0% battery problem and the firmware is 2.3.3(4.0.1.A.0.283) my question is do u know for sure if there has been an OTA release for 2.3.4(4.0.A.2.368) for India. If it has been released then my neither SEUS nor OTA is showing, and also if anyone knows for sure if there is a link on this forum can someone guide me to it. I have searched but couldn't come up with it Thank u all in advance
P.S: I have a locked bootloader

AFAIK the update is not for a particular device but for a particular region, so if they have released for India then all devices here running the generic firmware that came with the phone would be getting the OTA notification...I wonder how did u get it? Did u flash another firmware after u purchased the arc or did u have the generic one that came installed on the phone?
I have a short question regarding the security in Android.
I have a Sony Xperia S device that was sold with Android 2.3.4, later I upgraded to 4.0.4 via Sony’s PC companion software. My employer claims that my Sony phone is more vulnerable than a Samsung Nexus which was shipped with 4.0.4 just because I have upgraded it from 2.3.4 to 4.0.4.
I have not rooted my phone or anything like that.
I would like to know if a device with 4.0.4 stock from the manufacturer is “safer” than a device that is upgraded from 2.3.4?
Such thing doesn't exist.

What thing?
Do you mean that the security is the same, regardless if I have upgraded it or if it was shipped with 4.0?
I do appreciate all feedback but if someone can provide more information, that would be really helpful when arguing with my IT-department.

No 1. It doesn't matter which Android version was installed when your phone was shipped. I bought Xperia S and it had 2.3.7 then i updated to 4.0.4 and will be upgrading to 4.1 soon when SONY provides the update.
No 2. So if some one is saying that the device security is vulnerable then they are completely wrong.
Lastly Post questions in the Q/A please. Not in General.

My Mobile Is Rooted One...
Still shall i able to recieved 4.3 Update from sony????
If yes, after updating 4.3, my mobile is to be rooted condition or not???
********************************************* solved ***************************************************************
Thanks frendz...
i have few more doubts...
i've know that there is two method to update a phone software officially,
One is FTOA another one is through PC Companion...
I asked you frendz which method is best? bcoz both the two method has varying in data sizes, why this variation..
Tell me ur suggestion...
and frendz, who are already updated.........
are you having any problem???
i've heared from sonymobile forum that 4.3 update has lot of bugs.
is it true...??
Give your feedback about 4.3 Jb in m dual....
Pls Reply me Experts.....
Update your phone through pc companion if u did not receive the OTA. Or if that doesn't help, you can download the FTF for the firmware you want and flash it through flashtool. And no, you don't need to be rooted to use flashtool and update
Press Thanks If I Helped!!

You can update to 4.3 root is no matter
After updating to 4.3 you will lose your root access. So once again you need to root with different methods (see in general section) for that you need to unlock bootloader/4.3 ftf file

Nope you won't get official update from SONY ( If you are in India). But you can flash 4.3 FTF file
Are you from India?
then you couldn't update officially, as "xdasenior' said (as I do)
you could download FTF of 2005 & flash with flash tool
all of these are available in our forum itself.
for rooting, you had to download both older & newer firmware (4.2 and 4.3)
then use niki root

Both pc companion and FOTA are for updating, dont worry about the size, they will both get you 4.3.
Yes 4.3 does have quite a few bugs, but they have all been fixed. Go to the stickied thread in the general section by @ansebovi and you will see the solutions to the bugs

Hello, I have rooted my T2 ultra, using vroot, amd hence my bootloader is locked. I did this to enjoy a few of the rooting privileges like using Titanium Backup and few others.
Now in order to download and install the new Kitkat update, once its released, do i have to unroot my phone or can directly attempt to update without unrooting.
Please advise.
