Do you think maguro will recieve Android OS 4.3? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I've been searching Google for answers and a lot of the information seems false so I just wanted to know the communities thoughts!

Official seems quite probable, but if not custom ROMs , FTW

i dont see how it wouldn't considering its only a point update to JB and not a major change ( i would assume since its not KLP or whatever they will call it). I would say its pretty safe bet to get 4.3.

There can be no "helpful" answer for this question, well unless you work for google and can confirm that 4.3 will be released for the gnex.. Like you said in your post you "think" and since google hasnt said anything we can only think/guess and listen to rumours
anyway to answer the question i have a hunch that we will get the 4.3 update and that this will be the last official update

Ah I agree entirely, I'm just curious over those pictures of JB 4.3 that were reported a possible fake. That and I'm hoping they release KLP (if that's the name) for the GNEX, even if its like the polished Motorola JB that pretty much remains ICS with minor visual tweaks (at least from what I could tell with the XT910)
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus

I would think 99% a yes! Since the Nexus S officially received up to 4.1.1 Jellybean, I believe the Galaxy Nexus would be "future proof" enough to receive an update of Android at least within the 4.X range

Sure there will be 4.3 and I'm sure there will be KLP the 5.x.x
As seen some weeks before, the Gnex, i9250 appeared on the Bluetooth re-certification for Android KLP and was accepted... possible huge change in the way the BT is operating... so logic conclusion is that we will have KLP too on our gnex

Android 4.0.5

Hi guys !
I just wanted to say that SFR France announced Android 4.0.5 for the Galaxy Nexus, and it should arrive on March according to them. Given the fact that they modify the ROM, the official build may arrive sooner !
Picture/Link/Proof or didn't happen.
http://android.sfr.fr/maj-optimisez-votre-mobile-android-mettez-le-a-jour-previsions-7
Course, I'd rather see 4.0.4 for GSM at the moment
Such a table can everyone create. I dont trust such news without evidence.
4.0.4 and 4.0.3 aren't official released yet and you're debating about 4.0.5.
I heard it makes the battery last for a week on 1 charge.
This website is official.(sfr)
Sfr is a French mobile provider and they always provide "such a table" about future firmware update.

Oh seems nice. I'm SFR user and will reposte here if I get the ota in Mars. I wonder how they'll modify the room. If it turn out to be worse than custom roms I'll not be surprised.
With all the ics version numbers flying around it's hard to keep track. This 4.0.5 thingy would probably be something similar to 4.0.4 for Verizon LTE update but exclusive for SFR users.

And yes the website is official.
4.0.3 isn't out for perfection reasons I think [sorry my bad again, 4.0.3 isn't meant for GNex apparently] and 4.0.4 is exclusive for [scratch that] LTE users, so SFR users getting a 4.0.5 update is not really surprising.

You wont get any evidence before it is actually released. SFR can say whatever they want, and any Android developper can, too.
I'm just sorry I did not post a link first.

Depending on what changed it may be an incremental update to address LTE /CDMA issues. If this is the case it would not be pushed to GSM handsets. This was done with the Nexus S / Nexus S 4G. It has nothing to do with exclusivity but does lead to devices running different minor versions.
When appropriate an OTA will be pushed for GSM devices as well, it may be 4.0.4 or a later minor release such as 4.0.5.

It certainly is.
Same as 2.3.x versions in the past. 4.0.4 is not officially out. One user got it, we helped pull it. Thats not enough to draw such conclusions from. LTE issues will be resolved in ril and radios. That can be shipped with any build.
Don't forget LTE telephony code is now native to Android as of ICS. There is no reason for fragmentation.

I think they should skip 4.1.2 and release 4.2. But knowing Samsung and Tmobile, I know it not going to happen I think we have better chance seeing 4.2 on the Note 3.

Every Galaxy S series phone I had, the good folks at Sammy and T-Mongols (misspelling is on purpose) from way back with the Vibrant then the SG2, then the Note2, I always experienced a full OS update change. Not a partial that we just experienced. With the Vibrant, they moved from Eclair to Froyo. On my SG2 it was from Gingerbread to ICS. So if this keeps it up, we should get out of Jellybean onto whatever is next.

I think you should skip your note 2 and get a Nexus device if you are so concerned with having the newest 1st. My G1 has a ICS build and that was the 1st android device commercially available. Use your brain if you have one, 4.2 is just around the corner and already out in the form of CM10.1. Kandy Kane will be no exception and CM11 will bring it to us before sammy sends out a touchwized version of it. Do some damn research before you just start assuming things.

What the hell is wrong with the people on XDA nowaday. Did you even think before you made your comment. Of course i know CM 10.1 w/4.2 is out. Didnt you see my comment on the other thread about madmack has a working CM10.1 4.2 rom for all lte Note 2. I know you did saw my post because you made a comment below that. I wasnt talking about asop 4.2, i was talking bout official Samsung 4.2 with Touchwiz. Does CM10.1 supports s-note, s-pen, mutli-windows etc...NO. All the features included in Samsung touchwiz are what make the phone the "Note"
But to answer your question, i do have a brain and thats why i going to take the high road. You dont have to like me or agree with my comment. But i'd appreciate it if you respect me and don't use those kind of languages.

Wrong. It has to do with timing rather than LTE. If T-Mobile doesn't get to releasing 4.1.2/4.2 until they release LTE then they will be released at the same time.
But Samsung wants to fix thier issues while still working on 4.1.2/4.2 on Note 2. Then T-Mobile needs to work on the 4.1.2/4.2. Then they set up a time to release 4.1.2/4.2 for us. And because of the Samsung fixes it may be released before T-Mobile releases thier LTE.
Again this is all about timing.

Depends on how you see a "snob".
I personally don't like the control that Apple puts on their products. So yes I am snobbish at Apple products.
I believe that devices like Android "smartphones" are really Mobile (Cellular/WiFi) Pocket Personal Computers aka MPPC. So you can say that I am a snob there too.
But what is being a technology snob have to do with the release of 4.1.2/4.2?

Any ETA of 4.2.2 or 5.0.0

I tried looking around but couldn't find anything, maybe searched google with the wrong keywords or IDK. Thought I'd ask here to see if anyone else knew any better.
No...
We have no ETA for either official version.
Rest assured if leaks are released, or official versions drop, you will see a flurry of activity regarding those builds.
Meanwhile...enjoy the fine builds we do have....IMHO....g

Our friends on the other side of the pond will get new releases first, every time. And those builds are generally leaked.
If you see an international note 2 leak that boasts a 4.2.2 build number or higher, then you have cause to celebrate. And only hours later our devs will post the findings.
This info is of course, subject to change without notice...LOL....g

I'm curious how it is that we have to many custom 4.2.2 rom for the Hercules, yet the graphics driver is not supported?? Did Cyanogen and other rom developers somehow find a way to port the old Qualcomm drivers to other versions of android? Or are we just using the previous 4.1.2 drivers somehow. Either way the statement that the update is somehow incompatible with our device is purely garbage. Truth be told, it is simply a way to sell more devices, at least it is for those who are not willing to flash custom ROMs. For the rest of us there is 4.3 on a device that began as a gingerbread device, which is awesome. Now bring on the KitKat, because I'm sure our device can rock some 4.4 just as well.

Not a dev so these questions are over my head, but I am curious about the answers as well. And if they Key lime pie (kitkat) rumors are true about it being less spec hungry then it might just be the best running version of Android to grace our phones.

Where did you see that?

Will the s3 ever see android 4.4?

I'm sure there's great features to come with it, but will we need newer devices?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
I highly doubt we will see an official OTA
Unless it can't be done someone's bound to try

Sorry I meant an official OTA to 4.4
4.3 I'm pretty sure we'll get
This will be a heated debate for the next 3 - 6 months

Our hardware becomes older and older day by day so is there any point to Android 4.4 on our S3's?
stealing from CNexus post in another similar thread...

I had replied to Cnexus 2 above your response in that thread. I actually posted in another thread beating on when it would be asked if we would get it.
My 4 year old OG epic 4g has CM10 running on it, a phone that stopped receiving updates at gingerbread... So hardware while it is a factor can still run latest android versions. It's all up the creative minds of developers.
Have a great day!
I have cm 10 but it won't update because I need to reflash md4 bootloads

Mine is now on cm10.2 and runs it pretty darn well actually
I refuse to call it KitKat, Damn google and their marketing schemes. 4.4 forever, and OG Epic for the win!!

The galaxy S3 will be getting 4.3 in October
But I don't think it will officially get 4.4. However does officially really matter, when you can just get it unofficially?
Also by the time carriers actually start releasing 4.4 the gs3 will be a third or even fourth tier phone in the series
Also I like the idea of KitKat it was Google one upping all those people who thought they could predict them in a creative way that also set up more advertising ect...
Eh, not holding my breath. I would rather get it unofficially IMO. Nice to brag to my friends or others
"here look, I'm running the latest of android"......and your not:laugh:

The Galaxy S3 will but ours won't. Always always always when they announce updates forthcoming they are talking about the international versions. It is then up to Samsung and the carriers to invest resources to put them on US phones. Typically this takes several months IF the carrier is interested. AT&T just got 4.1.2 and it is not a pushed update.
As for 4.4 I have no doubts about the S3 getting that version but you will be asking the same hypothetical question then about 5.0.
I could see the s3 getting Kitkat, but not for a while after all of the other phones. Just because the s3 was a very successful phone and they're still being sold like crazy. Anyways, I hope I'll have Kitkat on my s5 on release .

Galaxy S phones have always had two major updates (Galaxy S1 got Froyo and Gingerbread, S2 got ICS and JB. Since Android has had multiple versions of Jelly Bean, it is hard to say whether or not they think of Jelly Bean 4.1 and Jelly Bean 4.3 as two major updates for the Galaxy S3, but if not, then it is likely we will get Android 4.4 KitKat.

Since we don't even have a clue about a release date for 4.4 I would not venture a guess.
