[Q] Xperia Arc S Lt18 died after flash boot.img - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey buddies,
I have a big issue:
My Xperia arc S is rooted, I did the bootloader unlock with sucess, and, when I flashed the boot.img (I had sucess by ADB), after ask to "fastboot reboot' my device died :/
It can't be recognized anywhere (USB-PC, wall charger, vol up + usb but it doesn't enter in fastboot mode), it doesn't turn on anymore.. When I hold "power button + vol up + vol down + camera button it's vibrate, but nothing happened in display. I had just this feedback.
Any ideas?
Thank you!

Try using flashtool. Hold down "menu" key and plug your phone into the usb. You will get into fastboot mode and then flash custom kernel.
After flashing kernel get into CWM recovery. Once you get in there its easy to install the ROM you want.
Make sure you flash kernel according to the ROM you selected or else you will get bootloop.
CHEERS!!

No, you don't need to press power button.
Switch off your device(which is already in your case) then while holding down the "menu" button on your phone, plug the phone into your computer via USB cable. If blue LED lights up, means you have successfully placed your phone in fastboot mode.
If its not working then probably your device battery is empty. You will need to charge it bro. And this might be a big problem unless you have got one more arc/arc s.

Sounds like the chargemon has been corupted of wiped! That could explain the charging issue. Try vol down & plug in usb for flash mode(green led if good) connect to pc companion and repair phone, or flashtool and the rom of your choice. If not it may be a jtag job im afraid n thats pricey!!!

Boot into Bootloader?

Hello,
i installed MIUI 2.2.17 and it's great.
But Miui hasnt got the feature to reboot into the Bootloader.
So, is there are option to boot into bootloader without fastboot?
On my Desire HD i can press Volume down and start the phone, so it will instantly boot into bootloader.
But with my Xperia Play this doesnt work.
Please help me, i dont know how to flash another rom now
Flash another kernel, perhaps Doomkernel, and your CWM Recovery should be there again.

bootloader?
fastboot - search
flashmode - back
recovery - vol down/up or back.
to flash new rom stock ftf etc. u need to boot in to flashmode with the back button while usb is connected (dont turn phone on just press and hold back then plug usb in.)
If you want access to Fastboot, just plug the previously switched off phone to a USB port while holding Search.

Xperia Play won't boot into Flash Mode

Hi,
I am having troubles. My Xperia Play won't boot into flash mode. USB debugging is on, phone is in MSC mode. I turn the phone off, press the back button while plugging in the USB cable and it boots into fastboot. (Blue LED light turns on and Flashtool recognises it as Fastboot mode). I am running DooMKernel and Ice-Cream SONY rom, but have tried changing ROMs and that doesnt affect it.
Thanks
Daniel

Hm, try this. Boot into recovery and from the reboot options select flash mode.
Goodluck
Edit: Sorry got confused with fastboot mode If you can try using another computer, could be a problem with drivers?
Thanks heaps for your help. I thought it was back not search button. Unfortunately it's my search button that's broken which is why i'm trying to change it back to stock to send it in to my provider. Is there any other way besides using the search button? I tried a different PC as well and unfortunately that didnt work.

unlucky. I think there is no other way. to get in to fastboot you could send simple adb command but I don't think such a command exists for flashmode

If hav flashtool just enable the usb debugging, connect phone to pc, go to fastboot option menu then select "reboot into fastboot via adb"
Easy breezy Done it thousands time WITHOUT pushin any button. Just use flashtool's fastboot menu n makesure to enable usb debugging Enjoy
Hit thanks if this help
Thanks vokal1992
I also have a dodgy search button that also plays up when tryin to get into flash mode, i just take the battery out and leave it for 5 mins and hope it works, failing that i get a pin and lift the search button up to try stop it.

Thanks, tried that. removing the battery didnt help and i tried to lift up the button with a pin. I tried pressing the metal underneath but that still didnt work. Looks like thats the part thats broken.
Will Sony/SE fix hardware issues even if your phone is rooted? Or is hardware warranty lost as well.
Sorry to bump old thread. This is just for somebody that's still can't to boot flash mode for some reason.
I've my first Xperia PLAY until some month its has cable flex problem. Buying the new one, got it fixed myself BUT same as the title thread the device won't be able to boot flash mode, only fastboot. So to fix it I need to rechange back to broken cable flex and im able to enter flash mode again until im done and need to repeating change again.
So I dont know maybe because im buying the cheaper one or something else, but this method is works for me. Hope its help.

Pressing once does not turn it on. You need to hold it down for few seconds, til it vibrates. Then you can release it.
I do this but wont power on. I dont know why.
Its recognized on my computer as qualcomm usb or zeus flash device.

It's soft bricked, you need to recover your phone with Sony Update Service.

You won't need to power on your phone for this. Install Sony Update Service on your computer and follow the instructions given.

That is strange. I am running out of ideas to help.
Last idea is to use Flashtool and flash a stock GB/ICS rom.
Use this thread for all instructions and download links - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642480
I forgot if flashing by flashtool requires to have unlocked bootloader.
Ok thank You
I will unlock the bootloader and then flash the phone

Bricked Xperia S, flashmode not working

Hi everyone,
maybe someone can help me with my Xperia S.
I tries to install Cyanogenmod, but got a boot loop.
So i tried to install the kernel first with "fastboot flash boot <kernel image>
Now my phone isnt starting anymore.
If i connect the phone to the computer, i get a "SEMC Flash Device".
The phone isnt starting into fastboot, no reaction.
Is there a way to reinstall the stock firmware or a custom recovery?
I already tried to use the flashtool, then connect the phone holding volume down. This isnt working, no connection is established.
Thanks for your help!
WORKED

If you brick your device while flashing kernel and device do not respond any way then follow this little difficult but 100% sure method.
- Dissemble your phone.
- Disconnect battery ribbon from motherboard.
- Reconnect battery ribbon.
- Fastly connect USB cable while holding vol +/-
- Flash Kernel or FTF FW.
from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283384 WORKED!

Disassembling the phone is extremely last resort. You could have tried recovering Your phone by simply flashing a new kernel via fastboot and then some other methods. But good that Your issue got solved.
I got same problem yesterday and I solved it .
Solutions :
You can shutdown the phone by pressing "power button" + "volume up" during 10seconds (sometimes you may need to insist) the phone will vibrate 3 times to inform you of the shutdown .
At this point (phone turned off) you can then flash a full rom (with flashtool) by holding the "volume down" + "plug usb" (flashmode) .
good luck

[Q] Xperia S Hard Reset

Hi, I`m trying to hard reset xperia s (l261i) phone (forgot pattern and account and secret question).
Problem is-
A. Sony Companion can`t access the phone because it can`t access a locked phone.
B. Power button + Vol Up button + Camera button not working (first I get 1 vibrate, and a second later another 3 vibrates, and a few seconds later same thing again, and again, and never really booting up).
C. Any other combination not working (tried Power button + Vol Up/Down).
D. Can`t enter fastboot/flashmode.
*Plus, I`m not quite sure because this isn`t my phone, but I`m pretty sure the phone is not rooted nor have USB debugging mode enabled or any other advanced users features on. Also, the phone is on MTP mode (the one that does not help me at all).
Can you guys help me? really don`t understand why this is happening and I found nothing on the web.
