I'm trying to see if there is an app or music player that will let me control my music from my tablet with my phone, vice versa. My N7 is usually in the other room hooked up to the stereo and I would like to be able to skip songs, pause, and stop music with my phone, rather than running into the other room. Anything capable of doing this on WiFi or Bluetooth?

I've just uploaded all of my music to Google Music and play via the browser, or I mix it up with Pandora. For local playback I use VLC.
Foobar2000, I love all the options it has. It takes a bit to set up, but it's totally worth it in my opinion.

This. It didn't take long for me to setup, what all did you do? I just ticked convert to four channels and I was happy. Also made a custom search function.

I use Foobar2000 as well. One of the best players in my opinion. Definitely worth giving a shot.

I hate iTunes but use it because it syncs with TuneSync (which syncs my galaxy nexus and my tablet installed in my car when i get home)
I used foobar for a while but missed recently added playlist, and it was very hard for me to get used too.
I don't think this thread should belong in a Nexus forum. But to answer the question, Foobar2000. Second is Clementine.
*Another for foobar

Yep! Same here. I have all of my songs on iTunes and all my music on iTunes is automatically updated to Google Music. Best of both worlds.
I use Windows Media Player at home to listen to my local library. Pandora when I want to listen to something new. And I use Google Music when I'm on the go.
"Bye book!"
I have used Winamp for many years and love it
Its a breath of fresh air after using windows media player which i simply find hateful

I have been using Mediamonkey for some years. I hate itunes and Media monkey offers a large range of features. You have to pay for the Gold version though to use certain features.

I have a habit of listening to BBC world live via the BBC app
However , the playing often stops itself
I have made sure that I have got enough free ram, around 100mb.
p.s. I use a Sony Bluetooth headset to listen
Do anyone have the same issue ? and how to solve it?

Is the playback stopped because of the fact the app is killed or because the bluetooth connection was dropped?
I am using Galaxy Nexus with the 4.0.4 official rom

I have run into an frustrating issue as of late regarding streaming music from my s3 through my xbox using the built in music player. What is happening is the music player will randomly pause while streaming, requiring me to press the play button to get it going again. This is not being caused by incoming messages or calls. I don't have voice enabled. Keep wifi on is also enabled.
Strong wifi signal through entire home. Running frosty Jb v7.
If it's a player issue whats the best alternative? I tried a few from the play store 2player, bubble UPnp, poweramp , winamp. They either have ****ty interfaces or act just as wonky.
Maybe I am just not understanding the tech of it. I turn the xbox, tv and stereo on. Then push the icon on my music player(see attached photo) and it starts streaming through the xbox. I thought it was pretty slick until it started acting up on me.
I'm getting the same thing. Happens more often when I put the phone on shuffle.

Possibly a custom kernel issue? No idea, just a thought. I know they can cause things to not work properly sometimes.
Was on stock. Good thought though.

I tried bubble UPnP for a while.. didnt like the interface to begin with.. I want to go to artist then sort through various albums. It did work however until the program itself began freezing up and not retrieving my files. So that was a no go.
I am stock. Am I able to stream music as well? Or do I need a particular rom ...Assuming you guys figure this out.

I did it on stock very easy. If you have Xbox, as long as it's on, your good. If you are watching Netflix, it will stop what you are watching. You have to use a stock samsung app. I just go through my gallery, find a pic or a movie, choose it, and there is an option which looks like a monitor with a couple of hornizontal arrows going through it. This doesn't work for streaming something on a website or whatever. If it is a file already saved to your phone it will work. All you have to do is go to the picture, or start playing the video, tap the screen and on the top you will find that different icon. Again, you have to have your Xbox ON or it won't show the icon. For Xbox it is cool because you could start watching the video or pic on your phone and want to say to everyone, HEY< WATCH THIS! and with one click it goes.
You can also connect it to work with PS3 but it only works as a media server. Meaning, with Xbox, you can decide, hey, I want to watch this on the Xbox now! With PS3, you have to search for the file and THEN, play it. It's not such an immediate action.
Hi guys! I'm trying to turn my nexus 7 into a sweet music player/gps for my car. I have the gps figured out, but I'm still working on the music. I have a 32 gb flash drive and an otg cable. It is not rooted and I don't want to root it. I have tried the Nexus Media Importer, but the music player isn't that great. So my question is, does anybody know an app or a way that will play the music on my flash drive effectively? Or a way for google music or another player to recognize my drive so it could play the songs on it? Thanks!!
Id suggest uploading it all to Google music then making the songs you like the most offline.

Yeah, I have NMI, just the music player isn't really that intuitive, and hard to work. I'm trying to find an alternative to it, but if not, I'll end up using NMI. Basically I want to use my otg and USB with a music player already out there.

I'm really fond of Apollo, is there one similar to Apollo, but more 'drive friendly' as I use it to play music in my car via aux cord.

Not sure what you mean exactly by drive friendly, but I like Gone Mad Music Player.
Like a car mode I'm assuming. I use NexMusic and its ok. Just a basic music player that uses the Google card layout. It has a car mode with basic controls.

It must be Poweramp!

Apollo is a great music app, and so are the rest of the popular ones such as Poweramp (in my opinion).
My point exactly is: IT DOES NOT MATTER.
What matters is how you feel comfortable about the interface and the MUSIC FX/Equalizers it can handle.
Try Noozxoide (google it) for your eq/preamp and you'll have amazing results on tone and volume.
I prefer Google Music but I used to use Apollo some time ago and it was fine
