I am running cm 10.1.0 RC2 and I really love this Rom everything is so smooth and responsive and battery life is unbelievable!!! The only issue I am having with it is whenever my phone is sleeping or the screen is off my hardware keys vibrate and even wake my phone straight to the home screen bypassing the lockscreen??? I am not sure why its doing this or how I could fix it? Has anyone else had this issue or anyone know a fix? Thanks in advance!!

Nevermind I figured it out it was happening cause under settings/security/screen lock I had it set on none.. So I switched it to slide and all is well again
so I'm having a similar problem, but your solution didn't fix it. when my screen is off my back/menu/etc keys still vibrate.
there is some kind of locker option that lets me slide the keys to unlock but I can't find it in the settings.

Slide to unlock is a kernel thing. Like Cerux Kernel has sweep2wake. Get kernel tuner and check misc to see if you have it.

Yes indeed. The dang thing unlocked my phone in my pocket for quite a while, had to turn it off

When I was using my phone today, I noticed that a long press on the power button was shutting down the phone instead of bringing up the menu. Then, I realized that I had also lost my lock screen, which I really hadn't noticed because I don't use the pattern lock. Turns out, even if I enabled the pattern lock, password, or PIN, using the power button still took the phone straight into the home screen.
I don't know if it was an bug in a random app, malware, or what... I spent a lot of time searching for an answer on what might have caused it, but didn't find anything really helpful. I started deleting all my recent apps, but couldn't get the lock screen back, so I ended up restoring the phone to factory settings and starting from scratch.
The only reason I'm posting about it is that I'm not entirely sure what caused it... I'm debating the possibility that it could it could be a touchwiz bug. Anyone else ever run into this?

Yes, its a known bug. I just ran into the bug today and I refuse to do a factory reset to fix the issue since its just gonna happen again. Samsung should be able to fix it with a simple software update.

No, so far the only way known to temporarily fix the issue is to do a master reset.

Ah, that would explain it... I was tearing out my hair trying to figure out what I had done. Funny thing is, I don't even *like* having a lock screen. I was just bothered by the fact something was wrong...
How did you find out that it's a known bug? I must have been phrasing my search poorly, because I couldn't find squat about the issue.
Still, whether I like the screen lock or not, I think this is a pretty decent security bug, considering it removes the ability to lock the phone...

I know because I seen it under "list of known issues". If you scroll down a few post you'll find it. The downside to not having a lockscreen is that if you receive a text message your phone will automatically unlock and you may accidentally dial someone if the phone is in your pocket.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH THE LOCKSCREEN ISSUE I ADVISE USING A 3RD PARTY LOCKSCREEN. I AM CURRENTLY USING "AGILE LOCKSCREEN" (WHICH CAN BE FOUND IN THE ANDROID MARKET). I AM USING THE PRO VERSION, BUT THE FREE ONE WILL DO THE JOB ALSO.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Mine's gone too.... Now that we have root I've a nandroid backup which I believe still had the lockscreen and will try restoring from that. If that doesn't work then I guess I'll do a master reset and restore from Titanium Backup. Hopefully Clockwork Recovery will survive the master reset...
I thought that was just me yesterday so I did a master reset

No, its definitely a software bug. I don't advise doing a master reset because the issue will continue to happen.

For people having issues of making calls/etc. when the screen unlocks:
Just put the phone in your pocket with the screen facing AWAY from your body.
I had this happen immediately after using the *#0*# test screen, I'm blaming that

Hello everyone... I come to you with a rather annoying problem. I am running Calkulin's latest GB rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332837 and it happens at the lock screen. My phone's screen will be off and then every so often it'll randomly turn on. It doesn't do it constantly, but enough to be obnoxious. Does anyone else have this issue? I use WidgetLocker Lockscreen (paid for), but it does it with the standard lockscreen as well.
Thanks in advance!
Try uninstalling widget locker and see if the problem is still present? It could also be a setting in widget locker!

I uninstalled WidgetLocker and rebooted my phone and it hasn't done it just yet, so we'll see how it goes. Thanks. Too bad though, I like that program D:
Edit: It's doing it again without WidgetLocker :\
Try wiping cache & davlik. If that doesn't work, then try fix permissions in recovery too.
Edit: Could be an app waking the phone too. Have you tried turning off sync or freezing apps yet?

Not yet, I'll give that a shot if the wiping cache, davlik, and fixing permissions doesn't work. Here's hoping! I have titanium backup pro so I can freeze apps... I know a few things sync like google calendar.
EDIT: Still does it ;-;
Which apps should I freeze?
It might be overkill, but you could just back up texts, calls, and apps, then reflash your rom or try another. Just do a fresh install, don't restore data with your apps. It might be the quickest means to an end. Also, if it does it on multiple roms, it's possibly an issue with the power button. Give her a squirt of canned air before you go running off to the sprint store. Good luck!

My wifes phone started doing that after I installed ad away... My guess is every time it blocked an air push ad it momentarily woke up. We also thought it might be a locker app or a recent update but removing ad away did the trick. Shame cause it works at killing ads.

Most of the rom developers will implement ad blocking in their rom build. I know for a fact that Calkulins' use it. So you don't need to install anything else.
Sometimes they list that info on their OP.

It has a setting where it will turn the screen on everytime you get a text like the iphone does. It doesnt sound like that is your issue though considering the way you say it happens randomly and you didnt mention anything about it happening when you get texts.

I'm having the same problem
I am not rooted and running stock jelly bean (ota version that I installed early because I was too impatient for them to push it to my phone). I have noticed my screen randomly staying on, too. It's very annoying because sometimes I don't notice until my battery is dead. A reboot fixes it temporarily, but I'd love a permanent fix if anyone has any additional ideas! Thanks! I've tried all the obvious settings, but can't figure it out. Is there an app that can help me figure out what the culprit might be?
(And can I just say, an edit to a post ought not fall under the "wait five minute" rule for new posters. Just my two cents .)

I know this sounds basic but it can often be overlooked.
Would that be the screen lock sound? That can be toggled in the sound settings menu.
If its not, then im not sure what else would be causing it.

Hi all, I finally decided to root and install a custom rom on my note2 however im having some issues with the synergy rom I need some guidance on please.
1. I installed r83 and then r85 over r83 but my device still says my build version is synergyrom_r83 #
2. while running this rom I am experiencing many freezes that require me to pull the battery and seems to be freezing when the phone is in landscape mode.
thanks for reading.

@the_plattypus
I turned off the ripple effect as suggested unfortunately it is still freezing. Any other suggestions?
Also my battery is being used to quickly, like 10% in 30 mins.
Also when the screen is off and I hit the home screen to turn on the screen sometimes it is bringing up the recent apps menu as the stock rom did before the last official update.
Can anyone else assist with above issues?
I would love to stay on this rom, I hope these issues are fixable.

how about the freezing and the home button turning on the screen but bringing up the recent app list?
I really appreciate your assistance buddy!!!
I tried turning off the ripple affect but it still froze so I installed the No Lock app and my note2 hasn't froze since.
I installed the perseus kernal and my battery life is now great.
what can be done about the home button issue? once more the last issue is that when pressing the home button to turn on the screen it is also opening the recent apps list as if I was holding down the home button. this same issue was fixed in the latest official note 2 update.
how can I stop it from doing this?
