Hi all, I have tried 4 different ROM's now and all of them do not work with bluetooth. The ones that do, when I reboot the phone the profiles are missing. Does anyone have a ROM they have had success with that you can recommend?

I've been having the same issue - did you ever get it working? I used nardrom before the last rom I installed and it DID work there. I had a slew of other issues, which is why I finally reimaged and alas... now this...

No Cyanogenmod, pac, AOKP etc. roms work with bluetooth headset... you can stream music, though.
Only stock ICS and any gingerbread roms work.

This is an ICS rom - It works fine as long as I don't reboot, but once the phone reboots I lose my pairing. But the audio and everything communicates properly. I have the same issue with my bluetooth speaker as well as my uconnect in the car.
I was on a different ICS rom (nardrom) which DID work properly for this feature. I had a bunch of other issues and there was no support which is why I left that one.

Have you tried the stock ICS Rom for this ? ....
before upgrading to ICS stock via odin, make sure to wipe everything including format /system ... not sure where the bluetooth pairings are stored in the phone so i'm just guessing...
If it were me, to further troubleshoot ... In CWM i'd do a factory reset, clean wipe, clean dalvik, clean cache, format system (from the advanced menu) and then fix permissions (from the advanced menu) then reboot clean .. pair the device and reboot, see if it held the setting ... this will at least get you closer to resolving if it is a rom bug or something in the settings after a flash/restore.

I don't seem to have a Fix Permissions in my advanced menu... maybe I have an older version of CWM?

Yes, that is basically my procedure. The issue is with the ROM. Had to use a stock based ROM.

I am currently using CM9 on my GNex because it has a built-in Profiles management application in Settings.
Is this feature exclusive to CM? Do other ROMs have this feature? I have tried various market apps to replicate this functionality, but none of them seem to work the way the CM9 one does.
I thought I had seen someone using AOKP and it had this in his Settings, but when I tried to Flash that ROM, I got a ton of errors on reboot and didn't find Profiles in the Settings section either.
Also, as I am relatively new to Android (this is my first Android device), should I do a complete wipe data before installing a totally different ROM to avoid process errors? I am using Clockwork Mod recovery to flash ROMs and just performing the default "wipe Dalvik cache" before installing a new ROM. So far, the only ROM I am able to install/update is CM9. AOKP and Codename Android just gave me a ton of process errors after booting and were just unusable. As such, i am currently stuck using CM9, but have really bad wifi performance with it.
TIA!

Yes. Yes Yes Yes Yes. ALWAYS do a full data wipe when moving from one ROM to another ROM. You can sometimes get away with not wiping if you are simply upgrading to a newer version of the same ROM, but anytime that you run into issues after installing a new ROM please do make sure that you wiped data before posting/complaining about issues.
Thank you for your clarification. The next time I try a completely different ROM I will do a full data wipe. I assume flashing new Nightlies of the ROM I am already running doesn't require a full data wipe?
But can you or anyone else tell me if AOKP or any other ROMs have the "Profiles" feature in Settings, like CM9 does? Or is this exclusive to the CM9 ROM?
Thanks again.

I haven't seen it anywhere else, though AOKP does offer a Quiet Hours option.
THANK YOU!
Using your suggestion to do a wipe data when flashing a rom, I downloaded the latest CM9 nightly, and just installed it wiping both the data and cache.
After my initial setup and installing the speedtest app, my ping is back to normal at ~25ms and 15mb down and 2 up!
Do you always (or recommend) wipe the data even if you are just updating the current ROM?
Hopefully one of my other apps wasn't the cause of this issue, but I'll soon find out once I have re-installed everything.
Thanks again.

The ROM developer will usually state in the changelog / release notes if a wipe is required/recommended for an upgrade. Rule of thumb though:
1) Updating ROM to newer version, same Android release (ex: 4.0.3 -> 4.0.3) ==> No wipe
2) Updating ROM to newer version, different Android release (ex: 4.0.3 -> 4.0.4) ==> WIPE
3) Changing from one ROM to another ROM (CM9 -> AOKP) ==> WIPE
Interesting. After reinstalling my apps one by one, I've been running speedtest and found that Airsync/Doubletwist is the cause of my slowness. Uninstalling and rebooting fixes the speed/ping issue right away. Glad I bought this app. Not.
So, over the weekend, my friend's Nexus has started having odd audio issues. He's been using a Paranoidandroid Jellybean ROM and was working fine for the past few weeks. What happens is that whenever an apps needs to play audio through the speaker (YouTube, Google Play Music, Navigation, changing a ringtone) or when the volume is adjusted, the phone locks up then reboots. We have tried wiping the cache, dalvik cache, fixing permissions, reflashing the rom and flashing different roms, flashing roms without flashing the GApps in afterwards, and using a nandroid recovery. All of these proved fruitless as the problem persists through every flash, wipe, and recovery. In addition to the audio problems, the custom alarms that my friend made are now missing and the /data folder is completely empty. I looked in my /data folder on my SGH-T989 just to confirm that the folder is supposed to have data. My question is: is this a hardware issue, a software issue or both? If hardware he can just replace the phone, but if software, he would like to be able to fix it. We have not attempted to flash a stock rom or ODIN the phone back to stock but we do plan to try that.
If you did not do a full wipe before changing from a rom to PA or any other ROM this can cause a lot of unwanted problems. By doing a full wipe, your problem would be solved. If not it's a hardware issue.
Flashing back to stock ROM isn't really a full wipe. If you are afraid of losing data root the phone and titanium backup

While that does make sense, this is how it was explained to me. (I may have forgotten to mention this in the OP) This problem did not start after flashing a new ROM but after 2 weeks of use. When we tried to fix the issue, we did do a full wipe (Wipe data, cache, dalvik cache) and reflashed the rom. But what makes this issue more unusual is that when we used the nandroid that he has, the problem persisted and that nandroid was one that had no issues. The /Data folder is also unusual because even after the reflash and nandroid recovery, that folder remains empty. Are these two issues related or is this coincidence that they are happening at the same time? Also, is there any more info that is needed that will aid in trying to fix this problem?
A similar thing started happening to me whenever I'd use the phone (make or receive a call).
I flashed a different kernel and that fixed it for me.

That's pretty weird. The data thing could be causing it. Did he download any app that could cause that folder to be affected? You should try full wipe so you can get that folder back. Does the nandroid still have the data?

Things we've tried
We have tried multiple kernels and different ROMs as well. Every time the problem continues. As for the /data folder, a clean wipe with a fresh ROM flash and nandroids result in that folder remaining empty. At this point, he's going to restore the phone to stock and send it to Verizon to get a new one. I'm starting to think that it's a hardware issue that is causing the phone to reboot when the rear speaker is used but as for the data, I can't think of anything except for maybe something in an app (as was suggested by JamesInsights) or a file on his SD card that corrupted something (although, I doubt that seeing as SU would kick in if a file was asking for SU permissions and getting a virus on a Linux based device is difficult).
Added: I would like to provide a logcat but I don't have the phone near me and I haven't learned to do that yet.
Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with a strange issue I have.
When I flash to stock root ROM my phone works fine, including my camera, however, when I flash to ANY custom ROM my camera only works when my flash is off. If I turn the flash on the camera attempts to take a picture and then freezes and I have to do a battery pull to get it back on.
I will through a curveball here and say that I have had extremely limited success (but success nonetheless) when I use my original OEM battery.
The flash itself works fine as I can use apps like flashlight no problem.
Oh and app's from the Play store work fine as well w/ flash on.
Anybody experience this before? I have searched and found nothing,
Thanks everyone.
How are you wiping before flashing? I recommend wipe data, cache, dalvik, format /system.
And by "any" ROMs do you mean 4.2 ROMs or both 4.1 and 4.2?
Well the stock ROM was 4.1.1.
The thing is I've had this problem for a long time now so it would be on both 4.1 and 4.2.
New development though, I just re- flashed to PKD ROM and the flash works intermittently. It seems when I take a picture if something closeup with flash it works but when the subject is far away the camera app just goes black.
So, about your wipe procedures...

Sorry,
So when I flash a ROM I wipe data/factory clear dalvik and clear cache.
I've done that from stock to custom.
The next time you flash, have everything backed up/saved to your sd card or pay and follow the wipe procedures I recommended above. It wipes the OS completely off, leaving you a completely blank slate for the new rom. Have your desired rom and gapps on your micro sd card

You forgot to format /system manually in mount/boot, that causes a lot of errors (it caused a bootloop issue when going from stock to Slim for me)
Hi, in the last minutes i've flashed the 2.7 build of LiquidSmooth Rom from the Paranoid Hello Halo rom... I've done the prcedure like XDA said : Wipe Wipe Wipe (cache, dalvik, system) Flash Rom Flash Gapps. It booted fine but all my apps that i've had on my previous rom was still there... all of them. The most disturbing is my settings were also like I've left them ( disabled pie wifi etc) also my Google Accound was already setuped and good to go. Is it a new feature from flashing 4.2.2 rom to an other 4.2.2 rom ? I've never seen that before. I've also rebooted to make sure it wont boot loop on reboot, and it booted like a charm!
Any clues ?
Weird, never seen that before. Tell us what recovery you have and exactly what you are wiping. Can't think of anything else at the moment I'm sure others will chime in.
Sounds to me like you're not wiping /data. This is where your apps and setting are stored and unless you factory reset using stock recovery, deliberately wipe/format /data, or flash a Rom that wipes it for you, all your apps and settings will remain.
Seems like normal behavior to me.

Ya I re-read it and he just wipes caches and system, definitely need to factory reset lol.

Got it that's why. I was sure wiping system would wipe data too. But do you think its dangerous to not wipe data? Because actually my ROM is rocking right now without issues? Should I reflash it for safety?
It just depends....
It's always best to start clean, especially if you were having problems. But if you want to keep data intact, you should be ok as long as you don't go to an entirely different rom, base, or build.
If you are updating to a newer version of the same build, you're fine. Also if updating to a newer build/version you should be ok, but may have a few hiccups.
However, anytime you go backwards (4.2.2 to 4.1.2) you should wipe it all. The same is true if you are moving to a different base, such as CM to TW. Keeping your internal sdcard data is usually ok, but sometimes it can cause some issues.

Hi
I've got a problem with a Sense modification, specifically with the gestures on the main screen. They don't work since ARHD 8.1 (earlier everything worked just fine on my M7, and on M8)... I've tried wiping, did all the stuff from s-off to changing firmware etc. Everything except this options work fine... And these are my favourite options. To be clear, there's a screen in attachment of what doesn't work. Tried to turn it off and on few times etc. etc. I've even waited for the new ARHD 9.1, did everything to flash it properly, and it does work like a charm except the Sense mods :/

Flashing firmwares has made your kernel unwritable. Dirty flash the rom or flash a kernel to fix it. If that doesn't fix it, you need to do a full clean install, this means when you go to twrp, go to wipe, advanced, click cache, dalvik, data, system and wipe. NOT internal or ext or usb.

I've did full wipes few times after flashing rom etc. (i always do full wipes, without sd card) and i didn't help, I'll try flashing kernel once more (maybe got back to stock kernel, not the ElementalX).
update: Flashing Kernel helped, thank You Sir
update nr 2: I've tried if it work with the new google account, and it worked, but when I full wiped, and tried my old google account with my settings it does not work :/
ok, finally I've got it worked - You can't bring back your google settings, if You log on to Your old account, without option of "backing up Your settings, apps etc." it works like a charm... More work to do to bring back all the settings, but it does work.
Everyone having the same problem, I think it's the only solution, tried everything else :/
