USB OTG
Hi guys....
I came to know that my E975 doesnt support USB OTG.. is it possilbe to get USB OTG if I root it or use any custome roms.. plz help..
HOOP
I think there is still a hope that LGOG can support USB OTG (USB Host) as i got these results on my one. You can see my screen shoots that shows it supports usb host but still I can't connect any usb device to my phone. Moders at this forum can make it working if they want.
But is OTG supported without the need of an external power supply to usb peripheral?
If I plug an USB HD to the E975, will it work or do I need something like this to power the HD while the E975 handles only the data connection with the peripheral?

Could you please provide a little more information regarding what you did to enable USB host mode on the device? After rooting, what additional steps were required.

If you check the playstore.. USB HOST Controller.. its there but Im not sure if it'll work for our SGT 3 7.0... I haven't rooted mine yet but I haven't seen any indication that it'll work for us.. I think we need some special kernel or something..

On a side note.. does anyone know which Micro USB to HDMI® MHL Adapter works for the TAB 3 7.0?? or does the tab not even support that option??

I didn't have much luck after I rooted my TAB.. I'm guessing that only two things are the problem, 1- The TAB just wasn't equipped with the controller card or 2 - preroot doesn't have it enabled.. I Don't know.. We someone better qualified, knowledgeable to answer the question.
Crap.. I forgot that I cant post outside links yet.. go to youtube and search for Samsung Galaxy TAB 3 USB HOST CONTROLLER.. You'll see the vid I posted..
My apologies i would love to share how I did it. I will try to type instructions on how I did it but to be honest it wasn't anything more than trying a bunch of USB mass storage enablers Inn the play store
That did it for me. I will report back once I figure out which one of the 5-10 mass storage apps worked. Give me 24-48 he's.
If anyone needs to be proactive ......

I'm afraid SM-T210 lacks USB Host mode
After several trying to figure out... I'm afraid the SM-T210 lacks of USB host support:
- The kernel has disabled all OTG and USB Host options
- The android system has missing al the permissions files to permit USB host.
I compiled all USB OTG and USB Host kernel modules to try to enable USB host support without success.
Even when you plug an usb device (pendriver, usb serial converter....) it does't power on. So, it leads to me to think that this lack could be intentionally...

i also tried installing mass storage mode app coz my phone with otg (nokia 701) don't support mtp, but still it says device not supported when the tab is already in mass storage mode. i guess the only way to share or copy my files in my tab is via bluetooth..

Hopfully this is not a stupid question, a search revealed nothing:
As they are basically identical are the E975 ROMS for the Optimus G compatible with the Optimus GJ E975W?
Yes. The only difference between w and normal g is the waterproof feature.

That was what I was reading, thanks for confirming!
Please clarify this one for me if possible:
is rooting procedure the for E975 and E975W also the same?
There is remarkably little information in the net regarding rooting specifically E975W. Well, actually, I have found nothing except for some Russian guide.
Yes it is.

Hi all,
regarding this topic is there anyone who was success with unlock bootloader / root / flash custom recovery / flash custom ROM for E975W?
I would like to read some personal experience with this. I would be very thankful.
I just looked it up and there are a few minor differences, but I'm unsure about whether or not it'll make a difference. I think the biggest issue is that the screen resolution differs, like someone else mentioned earlier. On top of that, the E975W does not support LTE networks, which the intl version does. I think that if you edit a few files in a E975 rom to make it fit the screen resolution for the E975W it'll work out. Because other than these things, everything is indeed the same.

And what about unlock bootloader and root? I just looked around optimus g topics and it's not clear for me.
Because as you described may be possible to use e975 rom for the e975w with some minor changes so i should give a shot for it.
But first I need a proper method for unlock bootloader&root&flash custom recovery. Then backup stock rom (if I screw up something...), then showtime.
Thanks a lot!

Shouldn't unlocking the BL and rooting the phone the exact same way it does with the e975? I don't there are any differences concerning software, so either you could try the method for e975 and you could always try rooting it using Towelroot
e975w can be rooted now. donot flash e975 to e975w or you will have hard brick.

afaik otg works on several kernels here for example f4k kernel for aosp.
BUT, it only works afaik if the device has usb power itself cause the phone doesn't provide OTG power
Ridiculous that this expensive phone doesn't support OTG
