Rogers E-971 on Bell - LG Optimus G (International)

So guys in a bit of a pickle here. I have a Rogers E-971 (sim unlocked) and I am trying to get data to work on Bell.
I have read the threads about the warning of LTE not working on Bell. So my questions are can I not get HSPA (3G) data working? I can live without LTE. ANy help would be appreciated.
Also I was quite familiar with Samsung S2 and S3`s and odin flashing. Can I not root and unlock the bootloader and then flash the Bell firmware to fix the data problem.....
Any help would be appreciated!!!!!!!! till I get this working, love the phone!!
Links to the best rooting and bootloader unlocking threads would also be appreciated...just got the phone today!! Still reading.

Is your apn correct?
If it is, then you just have to flash the Bell modem. Check one of Houston's thread. He has a link for the JB modems.
Bell has LTE on 2600mhz as well but very limited markets unlike Rogers.
You can flash the Bell or Telus modem for Band 4.
LG Optimus G E971/3/5/6/7

Thanks, so correct me if I am wrong, I should get data on HSPA? If not it could be the incorrect APN? I did try the APN a couple of times.
Thanks for your help, I got root now, just have to unlock the bootlaoder, then flash the modem when I find the threads. Mucho appreciated!!!
Okay I got it finally!!!! Elisha you were right, the APN was set right except for apn type, I had it as internet + mms, once I deleted that (which I saw on one forum) I now am getting data!!!

Rooted LG P935 need clarification about Network/Carrier Locking

So ive gone ahead rooted my P935 many times now quite simple to do. The question is its a Telus phone i'm with rogers, when i flash the v10f kdz i get origninal GB korean rom fully unlocked phone shows using rogers network. When then doing nitro hd unbrick guide and if i only DD the system.img file to install the att version p930 then do the battery pull factory reset my phone still is network unlocked. What i'm tryin to find out is which .img files baseband firmware etc would control this network lock, since when i tried to flash H!ONO v20c P930 cmw flashable ics leak my phone became network locked again. Ijust cant seem to straighten it all out , information overload .
That's very strange, flashing ROMs should not affect network lock. I'm using Bell P930 on Fido, I've flashed AT&T leak and Bell official ICS and neither have re-locked the phone. As long as the IMEI remains unchanged you should be able to use the original unlock code you received to unlock the phone again.

Interesting indeed would it be the v10f .kdz korean somehow. And heres the thing I have recieved no unlock code to unlock. And now am back to running the CM9.1 unlocked working on Rogers Network .
Aha! I figured it out. CM has your Rogers APN preconfigured. The official roms would not lol. I don't know why the SU640 rom was letting you connect. It really shouldn't because your firmware and baseband should be incorrect if you flash it. Anyway, APN has nothing to do with your phone being locked or not
w0095157, are you certain your phone was never carrier unlocked by someone? Did you purchase it brand new in box from a store?

brand new in box i swear, telus store,. must be a fluke. but it works id like to find more information on different radios modems, which may change service for me, but i was comparing this to what iphone 4 service was saying side b y side.
Yeah, that makes more sense. Unlock codes are $2 off of eBay, it's worth it just to make sure you don't have any hassles switching between ROMs.
Does LTE work on Rogers when using the Bell unlocked version (P930)?
I know you have to get an LTE Sim card and an LTE enabled plan, but before i buy on eBay and update my plan, i was wondering if the LTE band works on Rogers even if it is a Bell phone.
Yes, i have LTE in my area.
Cheers!

I don't live in Canada, but from what I'm able to find online, Rogers and Bell are using compatible LTE frequencies so it should work just fine.
It works!!!

So after trying million and 1 things I made it work! Baseband and firmware go together and I thought they contain the SIM/network lock so i tried changing them, but apparently all the versions i tried were locked too.... so since the Korean version is with unlocked SIM, why not change directly from it to Cyanogen build ??? Because the wifi is not working!!! and since i did not manage to fine how to install in while offline (CM or Clockworkmod) i flashed from the Korean version just the system.img and voila! I have unlocked SIM with working WIFI ... so putting CM after this was a breeze!
so:
1. flash to Korean V10F_00.kdz
2. root the phone
3.adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/system.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p27
should have unlocked SIM + everything else working on the ATT version which you can now install Clockworkmod and go for Cyanogen mod of your choice. i did cm-10-20121105-NIGHTLY-p930.zip - works great!
I have a p930 with at&t permanent locked network, I discovered too that the baseband of the korean version is unlocked, I made a thread about this but nobody commented or cared i think lol, you can install any rom you want but remove the baseband of the rom before install.

Ok I have a similar problem with an at&t Lp 930, did the unbrick guide to sim unlock with the korean baseband. While in the koream ROM sim was succesfully unlocked. But after following the guide, flashing to AT&T Gingerbread and installing ClockWork Mod, I flashed it to HO!NO! AT&T ICS CWM Flashable ROM once in ICS, I lost Sim Unlock and was back to: Network Locked on Phone.
So what your saying is to basically only flash the system.img after the korean ROM is on the phone and ignore the other images, then after flash to desired ROM with CWM?
And if so, if I flashed to HO!NO! At&t flash, would I still have Locked Network?
Thank You

[Q] At&t to T-Mobile

Here's the issue. I purchased the At&t s3 (SGH-I747) last year. Long story short, I wanted to go to T-Mobile prepaid with the same phone.
I purchased the SIM activation kit for $10, popped my SIM in and it worked!
Before I put the SIM in it though, I paid for an unlock code. I still have the code.
No 'Network Unlock' screen.
No prompt for my unlock code.
I am getting H+ speeds with the at&t s3 on T-Mobile prepaid without doing ANYTHING.
My question is:
Why cant I get to the unlock screen? I have tried to dial "#7465625*638*# for the prompt to popup and NOTHING.
Can someone tell me...
1. Can I flash a T-mobile rom to this phone? (every time i try I get a build.prop error, even after changing the model to the T999 and all that jazz),
so I can't install a T-Mo rom?
2. Do I have to flash a modem/radio or anything else like that?
3. Or, should I just continue to flash At&t Roms with the t-mo prepaid sim?
I have searched for a while now, and noone has my problem. I never expected to just switch sim's and it would work, so ANY help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

since your device is still an AT&T branded Galaxy S III (SGH-i747), you must keep with ROMs designed for that phone. flashing T-Mobile branded Galaxy S III (SGH-T999) ROMs will brick your device, same thing goes for flashing modems.
just because your SIM and Carrier is now T-Mobile, doesn't mean your phone is.

Wrong. Flashing an rom meant for the AT&T variant of the S3 on a T-Mobile variant S3 and vice versa will not brick the device. APN setting may get messed up and you have to enter them manually but it will not brick the device. Flashing a ROM for the international S3 on a U.S. variant of the S3 and vice versa will brick the device.
I wouldn't recommend flashing modems between the variants of S3s, that may or may not brick the device but wouldn't try it.

If you want to unlock the S3 (you must be stock to do this, stocked rooted may work, but I'm not sure):
Just dial the following keys *#197328640#

[1] Debug Screen
[8] Phone Control
[6] Network Lock
Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF
(after choosing this option, wait about 30 seconds, then go back one step by pressing the Menu button then select Back, now you are in
[6] Network Lock then choose
[4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ ..... wait for a minute then reboot your phone

Hello.
If you have signal then why are you trying to use the code? It is unlocked already!
im not an expert but this is what i know from reading a lot:
1.- I installed a t-mobile (t999) rom modified to work in a att s3 (i747), i think you can flash a any rom from the t999 section (i am not sure about this)
2.- Do NOT try to install a modem from t-mobile or you will hard brick your phone.
3.- Thats a good idea, do it and let me know if it works.
I used this files to convert an i747 to a t999 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771021&page=25 (read from post #246) so now i use customs roms for the t999 i did it because where i live do not have good signal, was stuck at edge and with those files now i have 3g signal.
Btw, i am in the $30 prepaid t mo plan.

#1: If you have a Unlocked AT&T I747 Galaxy S3 you don't need any files to convert it to work on any T999 Tmobile roms.
#2: You can use any T999 Tmobile custom roms as long as you have an Unlocked & Rooted AT&T Galaxy S3 I747 Phone.
#3: There is no such thing as installing or flashing any files which would would change the frequency for 3G on a I747 phone.

That is not true. Before following these instructions ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771021&page=25 ) I could NOT install any t-mo rom as CWM verifies the make/model before installing the rom.
Hence, me having the 'installation cannot continue' build.prop=d2att.
So, now AFTER flashing the 4 files, I was able to install 3 different T-Mobile ROMS. XTREMEPERIA ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2199018 ) was the only one that is giving me 4G. I know, I know, its all in the APN settings, but this is the only one that gave me truly 4G speeds with a T-Mo sim.

You are right, clockworkmod (Rom Manager) does verify, however if you select
and flash the Tmobile T999 recovery image when flashing clockworkmod recovery
all is fine.
Another thing, if you have a unlocked i747 and flash any Tmobile cwm zip file rom as
soon as it reboots and you check the network in the phones settings it will display
"T-Mobile US" and will work properly without the need of any other files or conversions.
However the Unlocked I747 will never work with Tmobile's 3G or 4G networks.

You need to specify that you are using an engineering image that T-Mobile used on the 747 before the T-999 was available to test the device. In general if you flash a T-Mobile radio image to a 747, you risk losing calls and data at minimum and a hard brick at worst. It is imperative to make sure to point out that it only works with THAT engineering set.

Ahh...gotcha. Thats what it states in THAT OP, I just thought that once that build was on the phone, from that point on, any T-Mo anything would work. I did have the watermark on my wallpaper, but everything else said 't-mobile'.
But, yes in general, if you flash TMO onto AT&T, there be dragons.
Thanks all, and happy flashing!
Even with that configuration, the only thing T-Mobile you can flash is recovery and custom ROMs. A T-999 baseband or boot loader could very well cause a brick. Its a dangerous hack because it has everyone confused. For all intents and purposes, it is 747 software with T-Mobile's AWS capability. In fact it doesn't even seem to have DC-HSPA, only HSPA+ (21mbps versus 42). It has the benefit of supporting T-Mo LTE though.

It doesn't make sense for T-Mobile to refarm their LTE. The 1700 AWS band is the most efficient spectrum they currently own and the AWS spectrum is going to be the most compatible across LTE networks. T-Mobile has pretty much no chance of ever getting the 700MHz that at&t and Verizon are using.

[Q] Is there a way to configure the Bell i747M for a Wind SIM

I have unlocked my phone by downgrade to 4.1.1 stock rom.
When I insert the Wind SIM, detected the network but only the roaming network, and I can not register to that network.
When I change to a Rogers SIM, everything works fine.
Does anyone know if there is a way to configure the Bell i747M for a Wind SIM?
Thanks a lot.
Well first if you havn't done it you need to unlock your phone which you can do for free by following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34661189&postcount=1 (It's for the note 2, but it should all work.)
If your phone is unlocked already than you probably need to set up the apn settings which you can acces from system settings>more>mobile networks>Access Point Names. Create a new one and fill in the info in this http://www2.windmobile.ca/media/pdfs/Non-WIND/Non-WIND_Device_Configuration.pdf document.
Still not working.
Hi FoxTrotz,
Thank you very much for your reply. I have unlocked my phone and followed your steps with no lucky.
When I manually search the network operators, I get Rogers, Telus and Bell. Can not find Wind network.
Any other ideas?

Yes, here's an idea: SEARCH THE FORUMS...see that little box on the top right of the page that says SEARCH ALL FORUMS? Well, if you had typed "S3 WIND" into it, you would have come across this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2344627
Also, for future searchers: You cannot see/register on a network band that your phone does not support. the SGS3 I747/I747M does NOT see or have access to the 1700/2100 AWS bands, so it will never see them via the network search or allow registration on them until you force unlock the AWS bands.
MOD, please close thread.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

No data after modem/baseband update on T999? Please help!

So I bought this T999 unlocked originally and it was working fine with StraightTalk, I was working on trying to get LTE working but turns out LTE doesn't work with this model on other carriers other than T-Mobile I guess. As I was figuring that out I updated my baseband to the latest T999 baseband (UVUENC2) from UVMD5 and no longer can get a data connection to Straight Talk. I've tried downgrading the modem, checked IEMI, and nothing is working. Can someone tell me what I need to do? Does it need to be unlocked again or something? Maybe StraightTalk disabled my data? I don't get it. Please help!
Nevermind, Straight Talk turned off my data for some reason, OMG.
Just fyi, lte does not work on the T999, with any carrier. Its just not possible.

LTE connection problem

Hi All,
I'm looking for help with this odd issue I can't seem to solve:
SGS-I747M, originally from Bell, unlocked and flashed with Telus stock firmware; testing with Telus SIM card. Only able to _functionally_ connect to HSPA(+) network: when trying to get LTE, the phone shows "LTE" but no internet, no SMS; I'm able to place/receive phone calls.
Tried editing the LTE-related NV items (as referenced elsewhere on this forum) -- the changes don't stick, and the values revert to the original (interestingly, they are the same as on an original Telus phone that gets LTE no problem!).
I made sure the modem is from Telus stock ROM.
This issue is obviously not a show-stopper, and the phone would be totally usable on Telus network, but I'm just curious: the hardware is the same, the software is the same... what the heck is the issue?
Could someone plz point me in the right direction?
Cheers,
Alex
You have an LTE card? I have Public Mobile which is a Telus sub that runs off the Telus towers and I can get LTE on a stock i747m.

Of course. It is my primary, Telus "proper" card. I get LTE on a former Rogers unlocked I337M stock Lollipop, as well as a former Rogers unlocked I747M with stock 4.3 (not to mention the Telus I747Ms I have... I rescued all my other phones from a trash bin, restored the glass on some, swapped motherboards and screens on some).
APN settings are also correct.
thoughts?
