[ info ]
I have created a Small App (Sony Small App Framework) for checking out live GPU frequencies... it is a Free app!
this app will come in handy to understand how the GPU speeds are changing when you use the device for some app/games...
It will be like an overlay, floating application over the existing application/game.
Don't forget to close the small app after you finish, to save on battery!
also this will be very useful once we start testing GPU overclocking (only for selected devices on my DooMKernel)...
ROOT IS NOT REQUIRED
[ requirements ]
jellybean 4.1.2 ROM with Small Apps support
only for Qualcomm Adreno device
[ changelog ]
Code:
20140114 - v1.2 - Fixed compatibility with Xperia Z1 & Z Ultra
20130605 - v1.1 - Fixed bug in cat call
20130526 - v1.0 - Initial release!
[ download link ]
App is now available on Google Play Store!
do test it out and let me know!
cheers!
regards,
DooMLoRD

Nice app doom like the work . Any thoughts to add CPU as well so we can see if apps/games are using multicore as they should and see at what levels?
Ps Got your storage mounter to support (at last after waiting for a Google market version since GB on Xperia S) . Just need to find a tool now to transfer from ext4 on Windows for our Z's and T's
Thanks

because the GPU scaling governor is not functioning correctly on stock kernel...
Cool stuff.
But taking a look at this picture i wonder if showing numbers only will be sufficent.
going up and down and up and down so fast...
P.S your poling rate is not that high, is it ? different value for CPU[1] than Kernel tuner.
Thanks DoomLord, it comes handy. A little OT: Is it possible to add some governors for gpu?
@DooMLoRD:
Do you know why my gpu-settings might be unavailable in faux clock? I use doomkernel v7 and remember playing with the gpu days ago (worked!). Since then I only froze/deinstalled some apps/services with titanium backup. Does the gpu-setting depend on a service?

1.1 in play, why in thread still 1.0?
Please add change gpu max frequencies to this small app for your new v8 kernel.
Would be very cool if we can change max gpu frequencies and also see current gpu frequency in one app.

No, over 1GHz every Gio reboots. Fake
I underclock it to 672 mhz:-D
no lag
My gio works with 960mhz, buut it's unstable in 3D apps and games, same on 940mhz. I managed to overclock it to 987mhz. This is a short preview, how does my phone work on a frequency like that:

first you need root acces
then a custom kernel
then a app that can change cpu frequencies
tutorials for root are all over XDA, evencas the kernel installation, but that has to be specific for our gio.
if done that, you can overclock
I have giopro v1.5, px kernel for gio and I use no-frills cpu for overclocking.
Mine reboots in 5 minutes on 942 just like your, I use 864.
And what are those things?(noop, smartass, ondemand, deadline, cfq, etc)

Overclocking makes your phone faster. You overclock processor, so it jumps from 800MHz to - for example - 920MHz. You just feel defference in speed
Yes it increases the speed but the battery drains really fast.big problem for someone like me..

I made an apk with tasker for switching between battery saving and performance settings easily & quickly.
The app icon can be added to the home screen to give you quick access to powersave mode and performance mode
Eco on:
Dual core only
Max clock 1.512ghz (changeable in settings)
Intellidemand govenor
etc.
Eco off:
Quad core
1.836ghz (changeable in settings)
Interactive govenor
GPU at 487mhz
etc.
You need faux123's kernel for this to work properly. You must be rooted. Tasker is not needed.
You MUST press 'WRITE VARS + CLEAR SETTINGS' from under the settings menu when you first run the app.
Settings can be set on boot.
You can change max frequency for both eco off and eco on. If you have changed one value you cannot rechange it unless you press 'write vars + clear settings' again
Here is a link to the kernel thread Click
I recommend downloading faux's app too here
NEW [v2.0] Download: EcoToggle v2.0
Tasker project [v2.0 update] for anyone who wants it.....Tasker Project
OLD [v1.1] Download: EcoToggle v1.1
OLD [v1.0] Download: eco on | eco off - Two icons, one to turn on one to turn off

Hmm, shouldn't take too much to adjust the Tasker task to do that. Just have it copy the applicable script to /system/etc/init.d, overwriting it each time the toggle is activated. This way the last state will effectively become "set on boot."

The stock ROM has always been the fastest. I have about 160 Apps installed. The trick to get the stock ROM real fast is to delete the thermald binary and then undervolt it to keep the temps down. I run 150mv undervolt.

first pic is current and the other is my record. Also is my record using quadrant but i heard it isnr as accurate so i dont use it anymore... both AnTuTu pics running nexOgen 1.6 and ZVC viper OC kernel, interactive Governor at 1.836 Max Freq. Tons of apps installed, and lots of tweaks/mods.
I got 18655 running Spleef's Pacman rom full throttle and 18509 running Neighborhood's Pacman rom full throttle. It only drops down to about 18000 when I make the numbers more conservative for battery conservation. Not bad...
This is what I get running my normal daily driver at 1.5ghz. Rooted, unlocked stock zvc using viper1.1 kernel. Performance is great even at 1.5 but I get anywhere from 24-30 hours of battery use on a full charge with moderate/average use.

It is better for you to choose "powersave", or at least other balance-oriented CPUFreq governor.
This phone, or other hi6250 devices, or even other multicore CPUs powered phone (ARM), may apply ARM big.LITTLE technology: High-performance CPU (big), and High-efficiency CPU (LITTLE). You can choose same or different governor for each group. AFAIK, the defaults (manufacture/vendor settings) are "ondemand" for big CPU, and "interactive" for the LITTLE one. It could be a good reference for choosing the governors on your own.
By the way, thanks to @sunny_deed and other devs as well, for bringing this up.
I tried to change max CPU freq but i can do It. After closing kernel adiutor, The freq value return to default

Is this stable enough to not let the phone crash and is it good enough to get a bit more battery life or performance? Im sorry but I haven't used any custom kernels.
