CWM recovery 6.0.14
Get msg saying can't open /cache /recovery /log. Won't perform any actions like restore or install zip.
Any ideas?
This will help. It will show you how to get your phone back to stock so you can leave it be or start over if you decide. Whatever you do, follow the directions to the T and you should be fine. Good Luck.

I have some problem with 6.0.1.4 too.. seems my phone is bricked. trying a restore and it is stuck at restoring cache. I was using 5.0.2.7 and installed a couple 4.0.4 roms with no issues. Was wanting to install CM10 and was told I should get 6.0.1.4 Everything is falling apart now.. Might be able to go back to 5.0.2.7 via odin?

I just went back to 5.0.2.7 via odin and on reboot my last ROM is booting up.. It's like nothing has changed.. All of this is a bit sketchy as there is really no good info on how to do thing. Like upgrading from 5.0.2.7 CWM to 6.0.1.4.. why doesn't the CWM website give basic info on steps to use.
I also put ROM manager on my phone to see if that would update to 6.0.1.4 and it just seemed to get stuck.. so removed it
I tried putting 6.0 on from ODIN and that seemed to leave NO CWM on my phone at all.
Then was scared so tried flashing SGH-T989_TMB_1_T989UVKL1_CL799405_REV00.rar to restore my phone to original, and that didn't work. just stuck at startup screen.
Then I restored CWM 5.0.2.7 via odin.. thankfully it worked
Then I found a zip file for 6.0.1.4 so put that on my micro sd via and adapter on my computer. The installed it via 5.0.2.7. Thought I was set with 6.0.1.4 on my phone.. but then it didn't seem to work at all. Luckily could put 5.0.2.7 back on via odin and now Executioner 777 4.0.4 comes right up.
No idea what to do next.. or maybe do nothing as it is very hard to really know what is the best way. :s
6.0.1.4 has issues with our phone. 5.0.2.7 is fine with darkside scripts, twrp is good because you don't need the scripts.

I tried to download from the twrp website without success. Any idea where else I couldget it?
BTW, when I followed the instructions linked to in the second post, Odin sat there "initializing" for over 20 minutes before I aborted the process. I was able to flash cwm recovery without problems.

When I try to run CWM recovery the menu comes up then it immediately goes to a dark screen with just the tophat and yellow circle and "ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.1.3" in white at the bottom of the screen.

OK. I'm going to re-load the drivers on the PC and reboot. Then start Odin. Seeing as CWM isn't currently working, I'll load it thru Odin. Now Reboot the phone and see if CWM works. If yes, install the ROM from there. If not, can I install the ROM from Odin?

-installed clockwork recovery using rom manager pro app on phone

I'm actually in the exact same situation. I was simply transferring music to my phone when it went into this boot loop. I've tried using ODIN to flash every possible ROM I've been able to find.
Desperately in need of help.
How exactly do I perform a "wipe"?
1. Can you guys get into Download and or Recovery mode?
2. If recovery is available, did you back up? If so, restore or flash back to original Rom.
3. If you can get into Download mode, flash back to a stock Rom, and start fresh.
Might sound obvious, just trying to help. I've learned that often I thought the phone was "done", but after refusing to give up on it, it came back to life...
Just keep trying , sounds recoverable for both.

You can wipe by getting into recovery. Wipe Data, cache, dalvik cache.
I can only get into download mode and I've tried to flash to stock ROM SEVERAL times now to no avail.
I've noticed that the binary counter isn't going up after each attempt though...

Good luck with it!
Hmm, there really doesn't seem to be a solution to this. Any possible way to "fastboot" it?
Anyone know where I can find a PIT file?
Hello,
I recently received the OTA update and accepted, however it messed up some apps and I went to flash a stock LJC firmware via ODIN. The issue I have is ODIN keeps failing at the sboot.bin portion. I was previously rooted using mrRobinsons root method (flashing a rooted .tar file). I can't enter recovery mode because the phone gives me the error message "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery in Kies and try again." I'm not at all familiar with Kies and any help would be incredibly appreciated.
If you can get into download mode and use odin, then can you download twrp 2.4.1.0 tar and use it with the PDA button in odin? Un-check auto reboot in odin, then when flash ends and sitting there a few seconds, pull the battery, hold voldown home and power, and put the battery back in while holding all 3. (Yeah I know it requires a 3rd hand haha).
It should boot into new twrp.
The download for twrp is google twrp2, then select sprint gn2, then on the download page find openrecovery*2.4.1.0*.tar
If you can do that then you should be able to flash a kernel and rom and firmware from there by just putting them on the sd card. I would use the ma7 one and not try to go back to ljc at least until you get working again and get more comfortable with flashing and recovering from bad flashes like this. I would try the ma7 rom and all-in-one firmware zips not the ma7 update.zip in your case. The update.zip requires a stock recovery to run and possibly a stock everything else too.

Remember don't wipe data. Flashing the twrp recovery, rom, kernel and firmware should be fine.
If you want to try something even safer just on the off chance your rom is ok just not bootable, you can try flashing just twrp and kernel snd see if it boots. If not then go back into twrp and flash the rom. The data may or may not be compatible with ma7 but nothing we can do about that. If the apps all crash then you could try flashing a ljc based rom and see if the data works on that. All else fails you may have to wipe data from twrp.
In all cases always wipe cache and dalvik from twrp each time you flash anything else.

Thanks for info but I can't seem to find a .md5 type file when I download the zipfile for twrp recovery. I try extracting and it's just an image file. Should I just select that as the PDA file to flash via odin? And I tried using Kies in the interim but my phone was stuck on the "connecting" animation when I plug my phone in.
Might be making progress... I'm working on an emergency recovery via Kies and it's about half way through. I really hope this at least lets me boot up the phone beyond just ODIN mode. Thanks for the help again KeyofR I'm going to keep searching for a md5 file of twrp recovery in the mean time.
EDIT: I think Kies is failing at the same part as ODIN when I tried to manually flash a LJC stock recovery (the sboot.bin portion). If anyone has a link to a md5 file of twrp recovery that would be awesome, I can't seem to find that type only "image" files.
EDIT #2: Bless you lol I just ran the actual .zip file in odin and it worked. I'm hoping I can just flash a stock rom I'll live with a complete wipe, I have everything important backed up. Thank you very much again!
What I said was grab the tar file not zip or md5. And don't unpack it. Just save it. In odin next to PDA browse an select that tar file. That will flash twrp to the recovery partition. You may need to do the crazy battery pull three finger salute battery insert thing to boot into twrp the first time. I don't know why that is, it just is sometimes. If you don't it tries to boot the regular os and if that succeds it somehow puts a stock recovery back and you have to flash twrp on again. Once you've booted into twrp one time, no more problem, just a one time thing.

I've been trying to root my Note 2 using the guide on XDA ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31801060&postcount=2 ). However, I can't access the CWM recovery. This is what I tried, maybe you can see where I did something wrong:
I've started Odin, clicked PDA and pointed it to the philz_touch file which I downlaoded through the link provided in the guide.
Auto-reboot and F. Reset Time are checked.
Then I put my phone into download mode, waited until the com.port thing turns blue.
Then I clicked start. Everything seemed to work fine and Odin said "PASS" or something.
The phone rebooted, but not into recovery. When I try to access recovery I see that it's stock.
According to the instructions in the guide I then unchecked auto-reboot, repeated the procedure and rebooted by keeping the power button pressed.
It doesn't go into recovery but just starts up.
When I try to access recovery it is still stock.
WHAT THE HELL DO I DO?
Can you name the file you flash?

well just flash philz recovery via odin http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.prehp?t=1896696 all files available here , be sure to enable usb debugging and unistall kies just install the usb drivers that will do
Note :
normally, phone should auto-reboot into recovery.
If it reboots into android and your recovery remains stock, repeat above steps and untick "autoreboot" in odin. Once flash is done, keep pressing power button until it reboots (normally will go to recovery)
when in recovery, if you choose option "reboot system now" and you get "yes - disable flash recovery", select that option to avoid stock recovery overwriting cwm
thanks; i'll try

Well, I have an idea but you may not like it. You will lose everything on your internal sd if you do this. If you are on the I747, not the i747m, you can flash the LG1 firmware. It will completely wipe your phone. But you will lose everything on your internal sd. External sd well be safe (remove it anyway, just in case)

You have the common odin-back-to-stock boot loop. I think you just aren't booting into stock recovery correctly. A factory reset in stock recovery will fix it.
Also just flashing a stock ROM in Odin will not wipe your phone.

flash this CWM recovery attached below with odin in PDA box.
boot into custom recovery.

now either you are done and you can reboot into stock with custom recovery still installed OR reboot into download mode without letting android boot and flash stock with odin again for pure stock.
