[Q] Slow charging - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi team,
Please help me understand how does the charging work.
When I keep my phone for charging with the original charger, it earlier worked well and got charged with in 2 to 3 hours.
Then I charged with my previous charger of samsung and it charges quickly.
the faster it charges the faster it discharges
Let me know any app to rectify this.
Thanks.

The original charger charges slowly or dies quick from previous owners on this thread. It's best to use another cable that's 5 pin or 2amp

i use the original charger and a BB cable. now my phone charges faster. i also use greenify. extends my battery life significantly.

[Q] Battery charging too slow!?!?!

Charging time for my battery is pretty slow. I takes more than 3 hours from 10% to full! It doesn't matter if it is chraging with the carger or via USB. Is this normal with the Nexus? I had Htc Inspire 4G, and the charging took 2 hours top!
*if i use the phone while charging e.g. play some game, the battery is still draining instead of charging.

You should get better results with an A/C charger but I've seen some wall adapters still read as if its plugged in via USB. You can check by going to settings >> battery while it's plugged in and it should read A/C charging.

What is the max current (mA) the charger you use can provide? Divide the capacity of your battery (in mAh) by the charge current. That is your approximate charge time in hours. I believe most AC chargers can charge with 1A, so a stock GSM battery of 1750 mAh should take less than 2 hours from being discharged to fully charged. Mine does.
The behavior that the GNEX will discharge even while being charged with a non AC charger (including car chargers) when gaming/navigating is not uncommon.

Yes, it's reading A/C charging, but the charger is from alcatel with 400mAh output.

I've been charging it with Alcatel charger with 400mAh output. I'll try with Samsung charger with 5.0V output which says it's equal to 0.7A because I don't have the original (I think i have used it before, but i dont recall that it was any faster).
Could be kernel related issue, since there is an option to "Fast charge" via USB and it's enabled?

its not likely a kernel issue unless you are on some experimental one, but you would be able to easily find out by looking at the forum cause others would have the issue. And if you didn't know the Fast Charge option is to make your phone think its hooked up to a wall port if you are charging from your laptop or if your car charger is only being used a usb port thing.

It's franco kernel, nightly 251, pretty stable from what i've read in the thread. Also, I know what does Fast Charge option do, but I thought that somehow it messed something up. While I was googling for answers, I found some forum, where was mentioned the battery chip that is regulating the power it's using to charge the battery could somehow get messed up. Maybe I have bad batt.
mine battery too takes 3 hours to full charge using stock samsung wall charger. I'm using stock rom and kernel.
Mines takes 1 hr 30 minutes tops with fast charge

You are using a 400mA charger, the gnex comes with a 1A one. Go figure.

That is because the car charger most likely did not short both the data pins out, therefore you notice the discharging phenomenon because the phone will only take in 500mA without the data pins shorted or with kernel fast charge enabled. How is 500mA going to keep up with navigation, GPS and all other tasks?
Beamed from Maguro
Also realize that your previous phones battery probably had a lower capacity than the gnex therefore coming from 2 hours, 3 hours isn't that bad for charging a bigger battery

As has been stated get a GOOD quality charger. I might be weird but both my car charger and spare outlet charger came from Verizon. At least when i have had something not work they have been more than happy to open another and fully test in store for however long it takes. Sadly, my last car charger broke and I am too lazy to get another, my solution was to use a car inverter since I charge my other devices regularly on long trips. Plugging in a regular wall outlet from, oddly enough Motorola, does the job just fine. Alas, the majority of chargers my coworkers leave out are for lesser phones and will not even register on my beastly Nexus.
However i think i damaged my charger (original 1Ampere samsung wall charger) when i've been in Malta (i'm from Italy) last August. Before the holyday my nexus charged in 2 hours or less. During the holyday the charger heated a lot more than when using at home and now the charging process lasts about 3 hours. Also, when i connect the charger to the wall (even if the phone is unplugged) i hear a low almost-ultrasonic whistle.
I hope the damage isn't the battery.

[Q] Charging the S3 with a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Charger?

Hey developers, is it okay to charge the Samsung Galaxy S3 (SGH-I747) with a block charger from Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (GT-P7510)? When I do use it, it seems to charge the phone's battery way faster than the original charger. But I have a feeling that it might not be too good for the battery. The tab's charger is 2.5A and the phone's charger is 1.0A. So my question is: is it safe to still keep using the tab's charger to charge my phone? I want your guys' opinions. Thanks.
Yes that charger Is fine. It charges faster because it's a better charger.
I think the stock charger is mislabeled. It says 1a but doesn't charge as fast as my blackberry or iphone charger.
Stock charger is crap.

Yup, should be very safe. I use a BlackBerry PlayBook charger to charge my phone quickly. It's rated at 2A.
thanks guys! also, when I take the phone off charging, if it said 89% at the moment I unplugged the cable, it is still gonna go up to 90% haha. I think the charger is so strong that the battery still absorbs the charge for a while even after the charger is unplugged. Interesting phenomena.:good:

.... Or it was about to change to 90 percent... And it does as you unplug it... Trust me, it's not charging at all when it's unplug, the heat left in it might give it that 0.1percent boast but it'll set down to 89 quickly

Are you using the stock charger and cable? If not, what is the Amperage of the charger you're using? Are you charging from the wall or your computer?
I get a charge from 10% to 100% in around an hour in the UK.

Anywhere from 3-5 hours. Also if i'm using the device while charging it almost feels like its staying on the same level, something that I haven't experienced with other android devices.

I feel the same about using the phone and charging when playing games. No idea how long it takes to charge it tho, doing it while i sleep anyway.
I'm going to go wireless charging but sometimes I'll turn my phone off and give it quick charge since it charges faster. I know some people don't like to do that though.
the first thing I would check is that the usb cable is plugged all the way into the mains charger. When I first got mine it kept saying usb charging is slow, please plug into a mains charger, which I thought was weird as it was plugged into the mains, but on closer inspection the cable wasn't all the way into the plug, so it was thinking it was using a pc connection. plugged it all the way in and it was charging like a demon then.
Same freaking problem. It discharges 100-0 in 6 or 7 hours, with 1:30 screen on time, and recharges 0-75 in three hours. Have you managed to fix it?

I was having this problem when not using the included charger.
It seems that the phone actually requires to be quick charged (8V 2A) up to 65% or so and will then switch to the usual 5V 2A mode when it's reached this point.
As a result when I was using a regular charger (Nexus 7 charger, 5V 2A) the phone would "charge" but would actually slowly lose battery power during the night.
Gotta watch out for specific usb cables or charger adapters that don't provide enough power (as mentioned above).
I have 2 Nexus 7 FHD (2013) tablets and my Zenfone2 has exactly the same charger, 5.2V 1.35A
A standard cellphone charger is 5V and about 700-800mA.

I turned on Airplane mode and power saver while using a regular 5V Charger, and it was able to charge over night.....just not fully.
I thought I was the only one with this issue. Everything works fine with the included charger but when using my charger from my Nexus 4, it would charge a bit then at times start losing battery. I've used a friend's Nexus 5 charger and it has been hit and miss...sometimes it charges all the way sometimes it charges a bit and then starts losing battery.
Im also using ipad 2 charger..works well as a normal charger for zenfone 2. Especially if your gaming and charging same time..mine does not over heat..but dont recommend to do it always
In fact my question was more about who is charging all night their phones and also who is using his phone when the battery is lower than 15%.
Happy to see some others bugs on the ZenFone 2

Charging speed

To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Moto E4 Plus can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.

Make sure the charger you received has the output at 2A. I've seen some come with 580mA (I don't know why.). It should be 2A, and charge quickly.
this is the specification found from charger
INPUT:100-240V-50/60Hz 0.3A
output :5.2v---2A
please tell me it is correct specfication if not or not

That's correct. I don't know why it's taking so long to charge for you. It should charge a lot faster. I put mine on the charger at 48%, and it was at 93% an about an hour. Maybe it's a defective charger, or even something wrong with the outlet. Does it happen on all outlets you plug it into?
yes i have tried all outlet but same effect on every outlet!
my friend have the same device it does not have any problem at all. so i thought exchanging charger now i have to wait to until the battery is empty.
hope this will work
Fast charging or quick charging can be affected by either the wall charger or the cord itself. Since the specifications on the wall charger look correct I would suggest try another cord.
A lot of the ones you buy at say a gas station, or a grocery store or just poor crappy cords, and only really meant for charging and not even data throughput, just your "basic" charging cords, meaning no fast charge or anything so it can take forever to charge your phone.
I had this issue where had a Samsung fast charge wall charger, that I use on every phone I get, and yes it does work on every phone I have tried it on, so I know it does fast charge.
What I ran up against was the cord being the problem, I went thru like 2-3 different cords before I found one that worked right, and it took me near a month of frustration and trying things before I finally figured out it was the cord, not the wall charger.
I have the same problem too, my moto E4 plus take more than 4 hours to charge (20%--->100%)
I use too the original charger and cord.

What's up fellas? I just got one of these yesterday and it's having some serious charging issues. In my case, it's not the charger, it's the phone. I think the problem is that I just got it and I'm not leaving it alone while charging. Too much setting up going on and stuff like that. Not to mention, I'm a Real Racing 3 junky. When the phone gets hot it slows down the charging to try and stay cool. My 2 amp charger is working fine, but the charge rate the phone is allowing is only around 300-400mAh when it's hot. I was wondering if one of you guys who's phone is charging very fast could try charging it under stress and see if it slows down like mine does. If yours still charges fast while hot, then I'll know that mine is defective and I'll take it back. One quick and easy way to tell is with the Ampere app. I actually made a little review/tutorial for it on YouTube if you'd care to check it out. Anyway, I'd sure appreciate if one of you could let me know if I need to exchange this one. Thanks a lot guys. By the way, I know it's not the charger because it's putting out 1800mAh when I plug it into my S5. Thanks again.

My e4+ took 2 hours with the 10 watt (AC) fast charger that came in the box with it. I'm using a much slower DC USB 2.0 charger in my vehicle and it normally stays status-quo while charging. I can go a solid 4 days between charging, but I normally re-charge the device while I sleep.
I have been using moto e4 plus from last three months and it usually takes 1.5 to 2 hours to charge 100%.
Hope It helps.:good::good:
My moto e4 plus suddenly stops charging at 80% i put it there for half an hour then I change the outlet, then it charged very fast 80-100 in 20 mins..What is the reason behind this?
