is it possible to enable USB mass storage on AOSP ROM?? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

after losing all internal memory data by wiping the phone... i'm trying to recover photos & videos
could not restore more than 28 pic by diskdigger... other apps like undelete & hexa didnt work(only dealing with external memory i think)... used some PC programs but all of them cannot see the phone because its on MTP connection
is AOSP ROMs hasing the option to mount the device as USB mass storage??(to mount it & try some PC programs)
or is there any other better option??
thanks

have you tried to mount using the recovery?

[Q] Can I partition out a seperate /sdcard?

One of the things I really miss about my old phone is that because it had an SD card I could just mount the phone as mass storage and I had full access to /sdcard as if I plugged the card straight into the laptop. However because I can no longer do this on my Galaxy Nexus getting files off of the phone has become a real hassle. I'm running Linux, for which there are no good MTP implementations (either they don't work at all, or are very very slow). Also because I no longer have direct access things like filesystem metadata (timestamps, etc) are lost when copying files over from the phone to the laptop. Add to this that there are far more host devices that will read mass storage than MTP. I've also tried things like FTP servers and other ways of pulling data, but none of them are as good for my needs as the old mass storage method.
Is there any way I can make a separate /sdcard partiton, mount it with Android's fstab (or whatever Android is using for an fstab), format it how I please, and have Android just let me umount the partiton from the phone and mount it on the host device when plugged in? How would I go about doing this? is it possible to make the stock AOSP allow mass storage again or would I need a custom ROM?

photos recovery ?

Hello
camera pics was accidentally deleted now ..i downloaded wondershare ( photorecovery program ) connected phone by usb to scan and recover..but nothing was found
any other accurate app or way to recover lost pics?
( no sd card attached ..everything on phone memory)
thanks
Hello
You can try Undelete Files recommended by Dr.Ketan in the All-in-one thread.
Root needed.
I forget to update thread but it works only on FAT partition, so won't work on note2
On note 2 we don't have mass storage so really difficult task.
@OP
Some have reported Drivedroid on play store can enable mass storage on note2, try it if you get mass storage for int memory then use PC recovery SW.

Activate mass storage mode for internal memory

I didn't like kies and want to operate my phone internal memory as mass storage mode on any computer.
How do I connect to maps storage instead of mtp.

it's not possible.
it's on the same partition as all apps you've installed, and all data/settings.
you pretty much have only 3 options:
use a custom recovery to access internal storage.
learn to live with mtp(it doesn't require kies, windows vista, 7, and 8 can access mtp devices directly without additional software)
or use ftp to make your internal storage available, this works almost the same as mass storage mode, but over wifi.
It is posssible with sdcard but not with internal storage.

Thats issue. Now I understand
You cant do that. You have written new files above old ones and you cant, especially that is is on internal storage.
There could be some method to boot as UMS but I doubt you would recover anything.
Have you tried from recocery to boot as UMS?
yeah i want... why you say i cant recover any data? if the internal storage is mass storage the software detect it one hard or flash drive and can recover data... i think

[Q] MTP to Mass Storage. (recovery)

Hi,
I format internal storage+SD, and I want to get my file back with some windows recovery program.
#The SD card : no problem, windows see it as mass usb storage. (recovery successful)
#Internal memory : windows see it as ''portable device'', SO NO SOFTWARE CAN SEE the memory = no recovery possible
( I tried easeUS, active, minitool, and 2 more).
I know samsung got an app to put MTP into usb mass storage, but how can I do it on this GPRO??
Thank you
