Xperia S, Acro S and Ion not getting Android 4.2 - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for Xperia S, SL, Acro S and Ion have arrived and th latest know build is 6.2.B.0.211
The new Jelly Bean brings feature from Xperia Z, which includes:
Updated, more intuitive versions of Sony Media apps: WALKMAN, Album and Movies
Lets you view and access all your photos, videos and tunes in one place.
Increased options for personalisation
A revamped home screen experience for handling widgets, apps and shortcuts… With up to 7 desktop panes, widgets that auto-resize and actionable notifications, you have complete flexibility to create the interface you want / need with a few simple touches!
Improved app organisation and search
Application tray sorting is that bit breezier – just press and hold on any app – move, add it to your desktop or create a folder within the tray by dropping it on top of another! We’ve also added a new search function within the application tray that makes it easy to locate your local apps.
Improved camera functionality
More intuitive viewfinder with the addition of auto scene setting, and the option to switch between front and back camera with a single touch.
Small apps
Small apps provide an easy way to multitask. A small app only takes up a small area of your screen and is visible all the time. So you can interact with a small app and another application at the same time on the same screen.

No joy with any of the numbers above.
I am running the leaked firmware that Doomlord provided, not a stock ICS rom, so maybe that's it?

No, according to Sony twitter before XP JB and Sony Blog when XP JB was released, Xperia's S/SL/acro S/ion will get JB together, the update was always announced together for these phones it's unlikely that Sony changed it's mind in the last second (S, SL, acro S got the update certified early may so according this logical they should got the update long ago).

Which lines do you need to change exactly? Also, I doubt it will work if you have the leak installed as devices with unlocked BL cannot update by Sony PCC.

I think the bolded bit is more the problem.

Build.prop hacks won't work... U will need correct entries in default.prop which is in kernel ramdisk for this to work... In short just flash kernel.sin from stock FW of that region...

I haven't unlocked my BL. Anyway, even if the codes OP provided won't work, soon enough someone will get the update and knowing how to change these numbers properly would be useful. I changed that value in 3 places in build prop: ro.build.fingerprint , ro.product.name and ro.semc.version.cust
Edit:
DooMLoRD has spoken. Guess I'll just wait for someone kind enough to provide the ftf then.

I think somebody better upload the ftf file for flashing, it is the best and the easiest way to update

Small Apps enabled?
Hit THANKS if my post helps you!
I dont use small app, however i heard small apps doesn't touch framework, so I guess that's a yes.
About the reboot recovery - after talking with a few members - I think it related to busybox not able to recognize or running the code. Unless we have an updated CWM with latest working busybox, I don't think this function is working. There is away to fix it - rewrite the code, in which out of my capability.
Temp fix for getting to recovery is using the new tab (20 toggles) or my new up date with recovery reboot.

No if you want to have the new layout (20 toggle tabs) then you have to wait until I have time to do that - otherwise you can look for my other thread Toggle Mod lastest update. Or you can download AOSP style like this here:
Download: View attachment SystemUI_Aosp.apk
Rename the file and push to your system with permission rw-r--r--.

[MOD][JB] Enable callrecording

In the past i had a Sony-Ericsson C905 Cyber-Shot phone modded with lots of pathces that give my phone a lot of functionalities, one of them was the ability of recording calls, a feature that is ristricted in some countries, ofcorse as all devs know and AFAIK call recording is kernel depedent, to be specific the 3.4.0 kernel witch is the Jelly Bean kernel.
So i whant to share to you the ability to record calls.
Its a port from Xperia V, and tested by myself on Xperia S 6.2.B.0.197 Jelly Bean and works flawlessly
tested on Xperia V JellyBean, and I can make sure it works on Xperia Z and other JB devices.
not tested on ICS but I thought it would work
how does it work:
press menu during the phonecall, you'll find a new "turn on recording" option
record will be auto saved in sdcard/record after you stop it or hang the phone
flash it in CWM
port from LT25c ICS
================================================
update:
Fixed LTE network support in Settings-More-Mobile networks-NetworkMode, LTE mode now is available for ur device, sorry for last version 'cause we don't have LTE network in China.
Enable dual mic noise suppression in "Settings-Call settings", I didn't notice this section in last version for that I apologize
Disable that annoying notify said"disable mobile data blablabla" when you press the Mobiledata toggle in status bar, I used to decompile SemcPhone.apk but it seems too complicated to modify smali by every update, can be solved by this patch.
================================================
like what Samsung did in his own Offical Rom, different patches are used like a switch for different function, as u all know call record is illegal in numbers of countries but not in China, I just accidentally found this patch in Chinese version FTF file, so, it's not my great work actually.
I once woked for gameloft, now I'm a cell phone reseller but still have interested in Android developping, I learned so much from xda, so EVERYONE are welcomed to use this patch in ur rom, it might be fit for all SONY JB device, no necessary to get my permission or inform me, all for one and one for all isn't it?

Why it's all doubled in zip?
It's not problem, I'm just curious.
I'll try to delete one "pair" because I can't see nothing in scripts that explains doubled folders and files.
Ufff...
I just saw this:
This zip is in total mess...
Again, I'll repeat.
This is just bad optimised - zip is good for flashing.

I guess this file should be 50kb large if it was optimised

9. On first boot your phone should reboot once after the bootanimation. This is normal.
10. Next boot should take a while.
11. You may see that, after some reboots, you get a message on the screen informing you that you are flashing new firmware, this is fine. DO NOT DISTURB THE PHONE WHILST THAT IS HAPPENING.
12. ENJOY!!!
(*) These steps may not apply to you.
Additional note: Some people may experience a status 7 error. If this happens, extract the boot.img from the zip and flash that before installing the ROM again.

Please post some, I don't have this phone!

Leak base rom...
Still waiting for original Sony JB.
Wait did you remove the sony keyboard and add the 4.2 keyboard instead? Sony keyboard owns all.
Thanks for the rom turdzz.
Been playing with it for an hour and feels even smoother than the full leaked rom.
And also somehow i got 3g working again so +1 to that!

Not at the moment, other than the updated Play Store. There aren't many mods available for this firmware yet.

Nice I'm using it. Good so far. Not much different than the leaked official but I'm sure it will get better. Maybe a list of what was removed.

This is good enough ,but I think you should wait for the official 4.1.2 release from Sony and then decide if you want unlock your BL.
I have just installed this ROM on my SXS. For now no FCs. One request: next time please leave more stock Sony widgets.

Recent Calls widget and Genie widget. But these widgets are also in DoomLord's leak, I just copied and pasted them from there.
Praise you for deleting Facebook - I allways use RootUninstaller to delete this crApp.
BTW How is Xperia Z in normal daily use? Because I will buy a new phone by the end of May

It is brilliant. I have had no lag and development is going well. My only gripe is the lack of physical camera button.

I'm too considering the Z. I was actually going to buy the Z and the same evening this leaked firmware turned up. So I'm giving my XS a chance before I exchange it. Thanks for the Rom.

Or you get a phone with shutter button or water resistant.... Why couldn't they just put it all together? Lol. I'm trying to choose between the Xperia ZQ( BR ZL) and the sgs4... Still, our little S rocks. Haha.
I think the modded camera app from T(or is it V's?) with HDR and stuff like that could be added.... Also Bravia engine 2. Stamina mode has a kind of beta in this firmware, shuns about it whole trying to install the one I found around themes and apps(it also sore a message about it when battery is under 4%
There are some apps I would recommend taking off, butI forgot which...Dx
PS: auto correction sucks a lot in JB...

Introduction
As I saw various posts regarding flashing baseband from another firmware, I decided to take a look at a way to do it properly.
First, let me clarify something: flashing baseband partitions from flashtool is not enough! In fact, baseband firmware is composed of multiple files stored in /system/etc/firmware. Proof of this is that if you only flash baseband from flashtool, version won't change in the about box. Just replace files in /system/etc/firmware and version changes.
So copy file is enough? Well, not exactly as many reported that flashing partitions has an impact. Looking at partitions extracted from firmware, amss_fs_1 and fs_2 are empty but fsg is not. I suspect that it contains parameters that are used by the baseband firmware.
That's why I came up with these zip files, they install baseband files in /system/etc/firmware and flash amss partitions at the same time.
I'm looking for beta testers, I currently have .211 and .55 basebands. Send me a PM if you are interested in testing.
Instructions
Download the baseband you want to replace
Copy the zip file at the root of your internal storage/sdcard
Optional, but *highly* recommended, copy the md5 at the same location
Reboot to recovery and flash baseband
Reboot to your rom and check version in settings/about box
Please report success or failure to the thread.
FAQ
Is it safe ?
Well, I did it multiple times without any bad consequence. I can't promise it won't kill your phone though. As far as I know, this is the first time that amss partitions are flashed this way.
What are potential issues ?
First, using baseband from another firmware could lead to problems as rom are tuned for the matching baseband firmware. It could lead to disconnections, problem with calls, bad reception...
One effect I noticed is that agps seems to be reset after flashing. No big deal but first gps fix will take longer.
Where are the files ?
I want to do a private beta-testing before releasing them in the open. Contact me in PM if you want to be in the beta-test phase.
Good Job! Nice Feature to Add At my ROM ... GG.
Thanks bro,required it desperately

Well, you can try at least, but I'm not sure that baseband is the only issue.
I had a problem today with the 2.55 baseband on my aosp 3.4 kernel, I couldn't call when I was on 2G. It could be a random operator fluke, but it could be related to the baseband. Difficult to say. It's not exactly JB firmware, so your results could be different.
I'll do more test in coming days, but flashing baseband could give more troubles than it solves.
2g is still not working properly? even on official .200 and .211 ?
trust me its working better than ics .....for me(at least)...
just put the write APN settings there and it will be fine...
@letama, are you going To release your 3.4 aosp kernel in near future?

Sure. I have small details on my aosp build to fix before, but it shouldn't be too long.

So you were faster than me, I already suspected that .
Few questions on your kernel: does it follow mako or CAF guidelines?
And did you 'bulk' update the video/ion drivers or did you merge them cleanly.
Last but not least, did you watch out for the new V4L2 camera drivers so we can use the camera blobs from Sony's official JB releases?
Ping me in GTALK (now Hangouts) so we can chat a little
Which is the Baseband version for .211 fw? If it is something beyond -32 then I can test it, but if not will be a waste of time...

Well, it's Sony one with mako video bulk update, I only separated gpu/fb/ion, but same method as 3.0.x.
I'm using exclusively Sony JB proprietaries, camera is fine with the same 1080p stuttering problem as Sony one though.
I'll ping you tomorrow, a bit busy tonight

ok, good to hear my work isn't useless, cause I didn't bulk update mine, but merged the jb_2.5 CAF branch into our kernel.
Because nozomi really isn't mako, eventhough we can get along with mako drivers pretty well. Nontheless, staying in sync with CAF is much more future-proof and once Android 5.0 or whatever drops, it'll take me a simple 'git merge' to be up-to-date.
A little OT : why do you think Sony has made Camera driver using Video4linux?
I also saw that, but I can't understand Sony

That can't be the reason, they could add motion eye support without V4L, lol.
I think they wanted to implement a more generic driver than their ICS implementation and somebody decided on V4L.
That could alsp explain their struggles with 1080p encoding/recording.
My 3.4 CAF kernel has higher vidc clocks and different ION allocation than Sony's kernel for 1080p, so let's see if I can get this stutter fixed without Sony.
