Black screen on recovery

Hey all. Just recently, or the last few times I've tried to back up my rom to try another, when my phone goes into recovery, I just get a black screen and therefore can't see what's going on. Does the same when I flash another rom but it still flashes, so I'll get my rom, but I just can't see what's going on. I thought it was my version of recovery but I tried another version and it did the same. Any ideas?
Thanks all.

Bump.

It seems the problem is with recovery, right?
Have you tried reinstalling the recovery via rom manager?
As in reflashing CWM? I just tried it yeah, same results.

Is the screen completely black? Do you see any backlight?
Try 4ext recovery

Sorry for the late reply, had no internet access. Bootloader is also blackscreened, and 4Ext doesn't work...
Hi, I have same problem.. Black screen in recovery and during the boot. When the system boots, screen is OK. Sometimes i have also blackscreen when I want to use HW keyboard. I tried 4ext, reflash older versions of CW but still the same. I can see a screen through Android Screen Monitor and I can cotrol it. But phone is blak, only backlight. Can somebody say, how to solve this issue? Thanks
I have exact the same problem as described here. My bootloader and recovery screen stays black without backlight but with lighted capacitive buttons. I tried different versions of CWM and 4EXT and the problems is the same. During normal boot and phone usage the screen if fine.
I can't exactly recall when it started to happen, but I could flash CM nightly 263 without these problems and two days ago I found the problem about the black screen.
Anybody here has a possible solution to this problem?

Does anyone have an answer to this? I bought a Desire Z off eBay - as far as I can tell it's stock - and this problem is driving me nuts. I also get an issue where sometimes the phone won't wake up straight away and I have to press the on/off switch quite a few times - the lights come on at the bottom of the screen but the screen stays black. The phone also won't wake properly if I slide it to wake it. However, it feels like a software issue rather than (say) a screen hardware issue as if I plug a charger in to wake the phone up, it does so immediately, every time.
Please, please help! I'm slowly going insane with this.

I decided to turn it off , so I can clean it a bit with air duster. Thats it. before that the battery % 92, almost fully charged.. If i try to put it in recovery it vibrates 5 times then green light flashes constantly. Display doesnt start , nothing . Something is preventing software to start and I have no Idea what.
EDIT: I managed to run it - just plugged the usb cable in pc, it startet automaticly in recovery mode, I choosed restart device option and it rebooted the phone and started loading my custom rom. Now I am afraid if it goes off again what I gonna do. For now, I will get my cable out with me . Thanks god there are PCs everywhere nowadays. But my question still remains , so I still look for an answer !
Could be the compressed air could have jogged something loose, the recovery mod or rom you are using could have become unstable and is unable to read your hardware configurations. Try installing your preferred recovery application the full wipe and try reflashing your custom Rom. If it still occurs try another Rom. The Rom you are using may become unstable over time, which has happened to me a couple times when I was testing roms. I hope you find the cause. Good luck to ya.

I had that happen to me a few days ago when I rebooted my phone.
I fixed it by taking out the battery for about 10 seconds and rebooting the phone.
Yes I did almost the same as replacing battery only didnt solve the problem and just used usb cable , I still cant figure out why is the problem and what is this vibrating code meaning. Anyway, now I have to find a way to fix my volume buttons - they dont work at all anymore..

[Q] Device does not boot after changing back cover

Hi,
so here's another frustrated user whose dhd doesn't boot after he's been messing around with it.
I ordered a now back cover because the camera glass was broken. Disassembly went just fine. After putting the pieces together, I tried to boot the phone.
Now at this stage, the flash cover, the battery cover (that little thing on the left side) and this other lid that goes over the part where the SIM and SD cards go ARE still not attached. Also the screws aren't in yet.
I put the battery in and started the phone. And it booted perfectly! I was pretty relieved, then put in the screws, plugged in all the remaining parts and tried to boot again - nothing. I see the bootscreens - first the white HTC logo and then the android boot screen. I have a custom rom (jelly time) installed and when you boot it, you can see the jellytime logo flashing before it goes into home screen. It flashes allright but at some point it just stops and nothing happens.
I can go to bootloader, tried a full wipe and reflashed the rom. Then it goes to the "updating apps"-screen (don't know the actual text in english, as my screen language is german). After this it says something like "starting apps". And that's where nothing happens. The little circle keeps on turning forever but it never actually goes into the system.
Have I finally managed to brick my phone or is there anything I could try?
EDIT: I should maybe add, that when the boot screen animation stops, the orange LED starts flashing.
I'd really appreciate any help! Thanks!
Can you try clean wipe and installing the rom again.

I did that multiple times. The problem is solved now. After disassembling the device and putting it back together then doing a full wipe everything works again.
Can't say what exactly the problem was, but - thank god - it's gone now!

Black Screen, Blinking Red and Blue LED after boot

Hi all,
Before someone says it, yes I did look around for other threads before posting one of my own. I was not able to find the problem that I am having, nor a working solution.
I am currently running CM12.1 on a Sprint G3 (LS990). This morning, I woke up and found that my phone had frozen while charging overnight. No problem, this has happened before, so I unplugged it and pulled the battery out and rebooted. It was working fine, and then I noticed an update for CM. I hit download, and went to go brush my teeth. When I came back, I saw that it had frozen mid-download. Now it wasn't installing anything; the CM built in updater was just downloading the latest nightly. I waited 5 minutes for it to become responsive, but it never happened so I pulled the battery once again.
Now when I held the power button to start my phone, I saw the LG splash screen as normal. After that, the screen went dark and the LED began blinking red and blue. No matter how many times I pulled the battery to reset my phone, this would occur. I attempted to enter Recovery mode, but in this case after the splash screen the LED would briefly light up blue, and then the phone would reboot, and the cycle would repeat. The same would occur when I tried to boot into download mode.
So now that I cannot boot into anything at all, I assume that my phone is bricked. It is still covered under the limited manufacturer warranty, and since I can't boot up at all I assume it doesn't matter that it is rooted, but before I contact LG I would like to see if anyone here has any ideas.
Before sending it back, have you tried to use the KDZ tool to restore it?

That requires the phone to be in Download mode, and it won't enter Download mode, so I have not tried that.
Well, this happened to me after I flashed TWRP from Flashify on my LG G3 D855 in the day before yesterday and I just had to take the battery out and put it back in, and then I had to boot into download mode. Since you can't even boot into download mode, I'm almost sure the phone is bricked

You HAVE to flash your phone if it was rooted or bump'd, otherwise, it won't be under warrenty, even if it don't boot, they're not stupid..
Every post have: "Your warranty is now void." in it for a reason.

OP3 rebooting to blank screen (with white notification light)?

Hi all, my unlocked and rooted (for the purpose of titanium etc) 5 day old OP3, running latest stock Oxygen is rebooting itself several times a day, but not rebooting back into the OS. It shows a blank screen and the notification light is lit white.
To get back into the OS, I have to power it down and restart. Sometimes it doesnt make it past the boot animation. It freezes, and reboots (again, to a blank screen with white notification light).
I've spent a couple of hours this morning wiping it (all apart from internal storage), and re-flashing.
The problem then got worse, as when flashing the stock ROM from recovery, or side loading it, the phone would reboot when it got to 90%. Whether I use TWRP (3.0.3-0), or stock recovery, I encounter the same problem.
I tried flashing a slimmer ROM (AICP), which flashed successfully, but I'm still getting reboots to blank screen with white notification light.
Any ideas?
P.s. I took a nandroid backup before encountering any issues, however the phone reboots (to the same state) when about 50% through restoring it.

I think I'll have to its pissing me off now, goes great for hour or two then I'll get this black screen 4 or 5 times in a row
I have the same issue.
I tried some ROMs (cm13, RR, OP3lite) and always the same.
I already contacted the support and they wiped my phone by taking a remote session through my computer.
I now have OOS 3.2.1 stock, not rooted.
I had a reboot since but I will let a few days to see if the issue is resolved

How long after the wipe/back to stock did it happen? after a bit of Google search seems to be happening to few sd820 devices
I don't know how much time after, maybe 6 hours later or so...
I had a freeze yesterday evening and had to reboot my phone.
Everytime it freezes on reboot and I have to wait 3 to 4 tries before the phone really boot.
Try to flash stock rom with unbrick solution. If ir does not help, apply for RMA ticket
I created a RMA ticket this morning.
My phone will go to repair center
I raised an RMA request on July 19th, which was approved July 20th, yet I've still not received return mailing labels from Arvato.
Not even slightly impressed.
My situation
Hi there,
This morning I decided to relock my bootloader to give it a complete stock-Android feel to it. I had already unrooted my phone at this point. It was then when I thought it was a good idea, since I unrooted it, to delete the BetaSuperSU rar file as well as the TWRP folder from my phone files. I then opened a command prompt in the AndroidSKDSlim folder and typed: fastboot devices, fastboot oem lock
And then I went on my phone and clicked the power button to confirm the locking. Since then my phone has not booted up yet, and I get no vibration when I press the power button. No button seems to be responding, but the white LED light is permanently on. What should I do now? My computer doesn't recognise my phone either!

Have you tried holding power and volume down for a few seconds without the cable plugged into the phone?

I received a mail yesterday evening saying that they can't take my phone and I have to do a factory reset.
I replied to this mail saying that I did multiple factory resets and even do a remote session with a oneplus tech support.
They sent me a mail an hour after with a number and the process to send my phone.
