Xperia play on at&t

I would like to root the at&t xperia play if some one can help.

Can't unlock AT&T Play
Just go the AT&T play, and can't unlock the bootloader using the instructions on here nor on the official sonyericson instructions. Basically, can't get into fastboot mode at all, using search button and usb plugin as instructed.

There are two dudes on there forums that can do the bootloader unlock. I think its like $24usd. I'm gonna do mine payday (Friday). Pretty sure once you unlock the bootloader, the root should be easy. Look in the general section those dudes are in there.

Ya alejandrissimo did mine and if u do get this done if u can send me a back up of your rom I would like to test some things.

I can not get into fastboot either...
I tried pressing search and menu

Can he also do AT&T?

yes he can, he just did it for me last night. Was fast and easy, he even helped root it and answered any other questions i had.

Do i have to physically send the phone?
I am new to android (jumping off the iphone train) but i was under the impression that it wouldn't be hard to root the device myself.
I'm hoping to be quickly corrected here.

You don't have to send your phone. You install a few software needed for him to remotely do all the stuff in front of your eyes. And you open the back cover of the phone, link two points with a paper clip or something like that. A lot of people have done it and I haven't seen a single complaint (except for some people who think this is a ripoff and want it free).
The problem is that there are a few versions of "lock", carrier sim-lock, locked bootloader, not being able to use fastboot. But this method unlocks everything in a few minutes.

Jinx13 also does bootloader unlocking for like 15 bucks

I have PMed Alejandrissimo and I am hoping this phones bootloader can be unlocked. I have AT&T Xperia Play(R800At) and the bloatware is killing me(and lack of freedom). Phone is brand new & it will be a shame to have to return for Atrix. I will pay the money as long as future updates dont re-lock bootloader, sim, & take root from me & I dont have to keep paying.

I have an R800at that he unlocked yesterday. Also got root going and will remove bloat this weekend. He can certainly help you out.

What to do after root?

So apparently i cant unlock my boot-loader. but i have my play rooted. what can i do to update firmware and overclock?
I have r800at AT&T GSM unlocked to T-Mo. The whole reason i want to do this is because games play pretty poorly.

Why cant you un lock the BL ?
You can update your firmware with flash tool still (someone correct me if im wrong) and I there is not an overclock for the stock kernel. Now that your rooted though , you can delete any bloatware apps to free some space and apply some tweaks in your build.prop to give a better user experience.

On your phone, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
Mine doesnt have that.
Also on the bloatware apps would i just delete them as any other app would be deleted?

u can remove bloatware using titanium backup.. but use it carefully

Could you link me do it?

You can unlock the bootloader but you will have to pay one of the few members on her that do the unlocking. Just search for bootloader unlock threads and you will find the names. Cost is $24.

The test point software isn't free and even after you got it then you have to buy credits to use the software to do an unlock. I paid alejandrissimo the 24$ to do it and he makes it very fast and simple. Best 24$ I spent thus far!

Yup added. paid. unlocked. now i have ICS and DooMKernal installed! all running good. he is a very nice guy too.

If he changed for profit he could have made a little fortune by now...
I mean, how many people has he unlocked already? Hundreds?

Agreed. Even if he charged $25, one extra dollar each time would certainly add up.

What makes you think he isn't making profit? who would do a service for free.

Well, he says he does it at cost. Given that the Omnius official prices go around those levels, I would believe him. Plus, there are other people who give guided unlocks as well, so it's not like he can get too greedy since everyone would go to Jinx13 or someone else to make the unlock.

hello guys i would appreciate some help and feedback with my problem,i just purchased a t-999 from swappa.com the thing is that it has aokp installed which i like alot but i use at&t and want to unlock my phone so i can use it with at&t ,i am going to purchase my unlock code from cellunlocker which i have done in the past with several phones my question being do i have to return to stock to unlock the phone or do i just need a stock rom ?
i have searched various threads here but have not run across my answer any help in this would be very much appreciated ,
and if any of you know a better way than an internet site to unlock this phone can you plz share thanks

wow no one,ppl must not unlock there phone that much.
well for anyone with the same question yes you can unlock your phone with aokp or any other rom with the unlock code,so it doesnt have to be a stock rom like i originally thought. hope this helps some one

If you call your tmobile and ask for the sim unlock code they will give it to you. Best way to unlock your phone and not risk voiding warranty.

Thanks for posting I had the same question. Good to know I can unlock SIM without being on stock Rom.
Btw did you end up using cellunlocker to get the code? And it worked fine?

yeah there the best cellunlocker.net i paid 25 for the code and received it withn 5 min,which i consider super fast as ive used other unlocking sites which take days to send the code.

I know I shouldn't do that but apparently is the only way it can be unlocked or if you know how can I unlock it without downgrade, I'll be more than willing to follow you.

Unlocked what? Sim unlock? Search xda for Galaxsim unlock. Needs root but safer than downgrade.

Is there any news regarding this? I know with the recent HTCdev lockdown, unlock is not possible, but it sounds like root is easily achievable.
I really only need to root. I don't really use any of the features that unlock would give me. Heck, the only root function I use is Titanium backup. I get free tethering (share everything) and always stick with the stock ROM.
Is anybody actually working toward a root only solution? Or is all the effort directed to a s-off unlock solution?

Same. I want to know as well. This guy seems like if it's such a cakewalk he should do it but as long as someone can figure it out I will be happy

You still want unlock. Changes made to /system while booted in the os do not stick.
Jcase will tweet something when he releases the exploit.

Bootloader unlock is sufficient for flashing ROMs and rooting. S-Off is kinda superfluous.

That's what I had heard. Well I'm not installing too many applications yet so I won't have to start all over when bootloader unlock comes back around

I spent 30 min setting up my phone only to have it wiped by the bootloader unlock. Then it hit me.

Jcase said it would be "easy" for someone to work around it but he has not offered to do it. If you look he ends up specifically saying he is not going to work on it... I'm sorry my friends with the one... Hopefully someone else will come up with a solution. We had to wait a few times with the DNA so I know how it feels

I honestly think if its THAT much of a cakewalk he should just be able to do it, or to basically hand it to a dev (which he kind of said he did) instead of hinting at all this and doing nothing.
But it's not my place, so hopefully someone DID get the info and will have it unlocked asap

Yeah but better he hint to tip someone off then say nothing at all you know... Plus he like all the rest of us has a life outside of xda and I'm sure he has good reasons... I mean he has already done so much for many devices

I thought you couldn't write to /system while booted unless you were S-Off. Has that changed? When the DNA was unlocked we weren't able to do so until Beaups (I think) found a workaround with the kernel.
Also, JCase, in a previous tweet, said his PREVIOUS exploit still worked on the Verizon One. I haven't searched, but maybe it's already been released?
I'm at work so I can't look up the specific tweet for you guys.

Not really. S-On and that extra time flashing the boot.img can save you some major headache later. Maybe even a brick.

If you are careful you shouldn't have a problem. But if you flash iffy things then you can easily end up with a brick. That's why most developers stay S-On.

lets worry about bricking once we actually have an unlock method again haha
