Hey everyone! I'm using a Xperia Pro running UltimateHD 3.0.2 and I wanted to know how do I get the "sym"(symbol) button working? I hate to
always close the keyboard just to insert a symbol or a smiley face. Can this be easily fixed or do I have to flash stock keyboard? I don't really like
the stock keyboard because the "remove keyboard" button is too big :\ Any ideas?
Thanks for your time!

I second that question, although using another rom. is there any mod available to basically use the standard-xperia-keys on the phone? (i had a rom, where the sym-key led to a menu similar to the original xperia menu, but without the smileys.
oh, and what is most annoying: when i press and hold a key, i can choose alternative letters, originally on the xperia pro, u could press & hold the button, then a small popup showed up with for example the letter Ü highlighted, and u could just go on and continue typing. now, u press and hold U, the same popup shows up with Ü highlighted, but now u have to manually tap on Ü to choose it. i hope this was understandable.

All I can say is press a little to the left of the keyboard symbol. You may need to use your nail to carefully tap the very left side of that keyboard symbol.
thanks mate. it works. fantastic. don´t know, why it didn´t work until now...

I myself got this issue as well. What worked for me is if I press the bottom most of the keyboard icon to get it to close. I pretty much have to press so far down I'm partially touching the middle of the zoom slider. That's what made it work for me.....

Also pressing the bottom of it works for me, I'm pretty much pressing the middle of the zoom slider but it closed. Strange.
Hi guys,
Im running the RemPuzzleRom 2.2.1, 0.7.2 and I need some help on changing the keyboard...
I've currently got 2 installed, with one selected in Settings -> Language and Keyboard, but it does not activate and still has the old ****ty one.
Is there a way to bypass this?
Cheers.
Go to any textbox in your phone and longpress it and select input method and than select wich keyboard you want
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Long pressing the keyboard just chooses the secondary button :S
He doesn't mean longpress the keyboard, open your text messages, compose new message then long press the actual text box instead of just touching it to open the keyboard, choose input method then choose your new keyboard.

It doesn't seem to do anything, even after 15 seconds of holding it down :S
Scratch that, I didnt have the keyboard enabled (doh)
Thanks heaps fellas
1.Make sure you have on-screen buttons enabled i recommend: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1940842
2. Download a root file explorer. Root Browser Lite --> http://goo.gl/b9ISW This is what I will use.
3.Load up Root Browser and navigate to system>usr>keylayout. We will be looking for a file called "clearpad.kl".
4. Select it and hit "Open as..." then "Text file" then "RB Text Editor"
5. Now we see this:
key 139 MENU VIRTUAL
key 102 HOME VISUAL
key 158 BACK HOME
Click to collapse
All you have to do is option out the keys you don't want to work with a #. So if you are like me and think the home button is fine, it will look like this.
#key 139 MENU VIRTUAL
#key 102 HOME VISUAL
key 158 BACK HOME
Click to collapse
6. When you have the ones you want optioned out just tap the little disk icon in the top right. It will ask for root rights, grant it, saved.
7. Now just reboot and DONE!
tut copied from http://rootzwiki.com/topic/31065-tu...acitive-buttons-lights-and-use-on-screen-nav/ so i didn't have to rewrite it, but modified for xperia s....
peace out.
Thanks man,was looking for it
This is perfect for XZXperience 2!

Can this work to remap the menu key to the app switcher key?
I find the appeal for the soft/screen buttons really inexplicable. I have an Xperia TX and, really, this is the only thing that puts me down in that phone - I really wish it had capacitive buttons, much like the acro S. The most annoying thing about software buttons is that it takes up valuable screen area, leaving me with a sub-HD area available for other stuff. The interference with screen size in some apps is extremely annoying.
I'm thinking of getting an acro S solely because of this. And you guys here trying to disable your capacitive buttons! Taste really is something funny, I guess.
DeathMetalDiamond, once you see how difficult to operate and unpredictable in behavior the capacitive keys on the Xperia S are; you'll wish you had on-screen buttons as well!
Same goes for Ion.. its simply a nightmare especially in the dark. I literally have to guess where the buttons are. If they are well built, they are an asset. If not, they just screw u up.
i just recently tried out the OSB and i found it appealing, albeit lessening the screen space but i'll live with the trade off..capacitive buttons on the Acro S is sometimes none sensitive as i find myself tapping the back button 2x or 3x before i get it right..thanks for this tutorial :good:
edit: i got systemui FC [im using @niaboc79 's tab-n-grid sysui] when trying to access options menu in CyberShot 5.7.2 mod..everything else is good
Hi, there is something with the iyokan keyboard on CM, that is annoying me (and maybe others too?)
Is there any mod available to basically use the standard-xperia-keys on the phone? I want to be able to use smileys by pressing the sym-button, and changing the language by pressing the languages-button... (i had a rom, where the sym-key led to a menu similar to the original xperia menu, but without the smileys.)

I hope there is a solution for this... and thanks! :good:
I love that this keyboard has built in emoji's, but hate that you can't long press for special characters and have to hit the symbol button...is there any keyboard out there that has both?

Same...just switched from note 2....is there way to avoid having to select the special character and having it auto add.....an exclamation point for example (long press "D" character)
