Open the File manager app pre isntalled, called my files i think, go to all files > sdcard > scroll down to Zedge. Check the Notification folder or Ringtone folder and make sure the MP3s (i think thats what Zedge uses) are in there
Yeah. ..the tones are there but when I go back to setting the ring tone, zedge tones are not an option for some reason?

You know I don't care for that Zedge app anymore because of the fact that since 2010 they have yet to support freakin landscape mode especially on a device like this or my old epic 4G which had a keyboard which was so much easier to use in landscape mode yet they don't have to support for it which is beyond me.

i don't want to sound rude but just try something else it clearly has issues since development which means years and they still don't want to do anything with it, not to mention the ringtones are all the same since it came out. the wallpapers aren't even HD, list goes on...
i'm not sure why you're having this issue just try erase the cache in app settings and redownload it

Just create this directory on the sdcard: /sdcard/media/notifications/ then put any music file you want in there and it'll be a notification tone. Same for ringtones, just make another folder called ringtones instead of notifcations. Also, download the app called ringdroid, and you can copy bits of a song as a tone.
[sig]I'm close to rooting, i have to see if its messed up first [sig]

Each email account, under settings just put in the notification sound. Do the same for everything that has notifications. You can pick phone sounds or ringrtones.
All notifications can be used with everything. The same tonesare available for text, emal, facebook, etc. Use a pc, or download astro file manager to create the directories

I personaly use "ringtone maker mp3" from the market. It let's you load music files from ur SD card and edit them to ur liking and save them as either notification/ringtones. After u have saved some ringtones/notification tones, just go to ur contacts, chose a contact and under "edit" u should see a "set ringtone" botton to select a ringtone for that contact. Don't think u can adjust the volume for every custom set contact ringtone, it'll use ur default ringtone/notification volume level. Hope this helps somehow

thanks guys!
So I haven't needed to find a ringtone for a phone in a long time. Typically I can find one I like but all of the ringtones on this phone make me embarrassed to have ring in public. Any suggestions on sites or apps for some standard ringtones?
I like zedge in the market. Its got alot of different ringtones, notification tones and wallpapers. You should be able to find something thats not embarrassing.lol There really are some ****ty ringtones on this phone.

Try soundjax.com and search for something you like
I'd recommend ringdroid to create your own from songs you like, or any other sound file

I'm fully on-board the Nexus wagon. Just got phone from the Play Store, while setting up the thing, I noticed that “Ringdroid” doesn’t work; any suggestion regarding an app that plays my mp3 silly ringtones?
I'm using zedge and am happy with that (allows you to download whichever ring tone you want)
Swiftkey'ed on my CM9 Galaxy Nexus
An app that plays them? Or do you mean you want to use them a ringtones?
Look on your "sdcard"... There is a folder called Ringtones and another called Notifications. Just put them in their respective folders then they will show up in the list of stock tones when you're setting them.

Thanks, but I meant ringtones you create, (used Ringdroid to do that but has not been updated to JB yet); I’m searching for another app that does the same.

EDIT: Dammit. I had 666 posts. This was #667.
Ideally I'd like to change my ringtone to a song and I'd like to make my text message notification the brief piano intro to outkast's roses. Is there any easy way to go about doing this?
Thanks!
in your sd card there are folders called 'Notifications' and 'Ringtones.' put the respective sound files (they should be in m4a format) where they belong. reboot and they should appear in the settings under sound.

if you have the .mp3 file i suggest using ringdroid then edit the music file to where you want it to start and stop :good:

MP3 ringtone maker works great for me. It's free, lets you search and download songs within the app and has a great editor for cropping in/out points. What more could you ask for?
if you need the ringtone to repeat, I believe it has to be in ogg format and you need to add a parameter to it in the id3tags to tell it to repeat. I did this on my ex's Galaxy Nexus S. I am sure there is more info on this in the general section of the android forums.
Here is a link to the topic I was talking about:

I've always used audacity on my pc to make the ringtone, then copy over to ringtones/notifications folder

but did you use the ogg format and add the metadata???? I know this works as I used it for the opening bars of Linkin Parks Numb for my ex and it works awesome.
I finally got GV Integration Free onto my N7(WiFi only model). Here's how to do it. First you'll need a GV account and the GV app on your N7. Then follow the instructions below.
1. Download and install "MMS.apk"
2. Download and install "com.mdrtools.app.gvintegration.free-1.apk"
3. Open GV Integration Free and enter GV email and password
4. Select "Enable Integration" and wait for device to reboot
And that's it.
Enjoy!
EDIT: GoSMS also works with GV Integration.

It allows you to use the native messaging app or GoSMS to send text messages via Google Voice. I personally didn't like using the GV app to text and since you can't install this via the Play Store on a N7(WiFi model) I decided to share the apks for those who wanted to use something other than the GV app to send/receive texts.
This is awesome
GV doesn't group all the messages from one sender into a single thread and the interface is not attractive to me. I use GO Sms, and this allows me to use my favorite SMS application on my tablet. Thank you very much.
How did you extract the apk?
Great work! I have been using the apk you posted and have purchased the paid app on my S3.
On the Nexus 7 tablet, I keep getting the nag screen each time I get a new message, and I can't upgrade because the app is not compatible with the device in the market.
So my options (as far as my limited thinking allows) are:
1. Figure out a way to disable the nag alerts.
2. Extract the paid apk from my S3 and install it on my N7
How did you extract the apk? From Googling, it is supposed to be in /data/app/com.mdrtools.apps.gvintegration-1.apk and I should be able to pull it using adb, However, the apk does not exist in /data/app/ on my phone. Any help would be appreciated.

You could do a Titanium Backup of the app on your S3 and transfer that backup to the Nexus 7. Then restore the app only (no data) on your Nexus 7.

Thank you. This worked perfectly.
I had to use this attached MMS apk (see link below) on cm10 stable with a GV integration apk that I can't upload here because its a paid application. The GV integration APK in the OP saying it was pirated.
Download MMS.apk: http://d-h.st/jmf

Not sure why it is saying it's pirated, it's the free version that I backed up on my GNex and transferred to my N7. So if you have the problem of the app saying it's pirated and have a device compatible with GV Integration then you can back it up with TiBu and transfer the apk to the TiBu folder on the root of the "sdcard" and restore it through TiBu.
Could someone please post a screenshot of what it looks like?
Will this work for Canadians?? I installed everything and the messages say they have been sent but no one is receiving them. I can make calls via gv no problem but this is my first time trying to text.

Thanks for this info. I got it to work with an inverted mms.apk, same one I use on my phone, but I'm not getting notification of a new message on my notification bar. I have it set in the GV Integration to "Always" for Notification Bar Icon. Are others that are using the AOSP apk getting it to show on their notification bar when you receive a text?

So I tried this out and it worked great!
I haven't been able to get chromp or go sms to work on top of it but just the default messenger app itself isn't that bad.
