Hi!
I really new to the scene and I have searched a lot trying to figuring this out but not luck so far
I flashed Jelly Beans 16 to my t889 almost a week ago, after reading that it was compatible with my tmobile GN2 even though is for verizon, everything works great but I can't get the mobile data to work correctly. push notifications wont work, apps that requiere internet wont work... Edge icon says I’m connected, APN settings are correct, the only thing that works is whats-app while on mobile data, or opening a web page in the browser (but it takes ages and I will get connection errors most of the time), so somehow its receiving data.
After much reading, found and app that displays mobile connection info and indeed it says I'm connected and how much data has been downloaded/uploaded already... it also says the radio is unknown!!!!! (please see the attached images)
How can I fix this??? any help will and is totally appreciated
my guest is flash a radio that is compatible with this rom but I can't find any info in how to just do that. I already flashed the T889UVBMB4 modem and it stills says radio/serial unknown/(some numbers) so I assume that the modem and radio are a different thing... are they?
Can anyone can point me in the right direction???

You will need to flash something that works. Wipe everything. Move it to your phone from your PC. Always make a backup.

what I did was boot in recovery mode, installed modem for my baseband. using cwm. wiped all data, cache, davlnk. installed new rom, which is compatible with my phone without a radio using cwm,. rebooted normally. probken persist.

I went to the phone company today and no one could even give me a logical explanation to what was going on with the phone!
I can use whatsapp, navigate slow as hell, but push notications wont work no matter whaT!! I don't think anymore that my problem is the rom as I flashed stock and same thing NADA!
But the think that got me really frustasted was the "phone expert" at the company after taking the phone in his hands for a minute, came up with all his wisdom: "everyrhing is ok you can navigate; but wont receive push notifications"

Long story short, I took the phone to the competition and asked if my phone would work in their network, they charge more but are faster! the guy kindly put a micro sim and pum!!! 3g Internet on my phone to try!!! Under setting/network/more settings/network type/see if it is checked at 4G,LTE

Is really weird! I can receive whatsapp notifications, browse slowly as hell but waze and push notifications wont work... in the other phone company they just inserted their sim and voilà! Waze was working as it should!

odin isnt where you loose your imei its flashing roms u shouldn't... go to mr Robinsons no trip root thread... download the files and flash in odin.....I don't get why people are scared of odin.. its a lifesaver.

Odin is the reason I will never leave Samsung again. It's so easy to fix a brick if you mess up.

Thank you! Honestly I read a post here that advised against using Odin... as I newbie I take advises really seriously until I have the knowledge to make educated choices , I will make a backup of my phone using cwm and then flash stock with odin just to see if I can get the edge signal to work without any glitches, if not... I will reload the backup and go back to the rom Im using (which I luv)and change phone company!

If you go in about phone, status, does your IMEI match the one on the sticker under your battery?
Check the baseband listed there as well, is it a Verizon or a T-Mobile one?
Verizon has some HSPA support for roaming, but I'm not aware of them having AWS enabled.

So i managed to get my IMEI to 0, got it back with peaplearmy's guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801997 but im still stuck on edge.
im trying to use his QCN generator but i keep getting "An error occurred while trying to generate the file" if anyone has had the same issue and got it solve please point me in the right direction. btw reason i posted this here is because i need at least 10 post to be able to post in the development section, will really appreciate any help.
Enter *#4636# in dialer. Go to device info and choose wcdma prefered or wcdma only.

thanks but i already tried that, with "wcdma preferred" stays the same(on edge) and with "wcdma only" it shows not signal .
How did you lose your imei isn't it on the box

Im guessing you are still rootedmaybe try factory reset.
Or Reflash your rom and see if that fixes.
Use twrp recovery. Noone has lost imei using it that im aware of. Everyone who did was using cwm.

Are you still stuck on edge? Maybe its bad timing and its actually an issue with tmobiles tower. And have you tried in a different area of town so your connected to a different tower?
This happened to me once and it was killing me for over a day before I called tmobile and they said the tower close to me had storm damage!
Have you tried all three available radios? Try flashing starting with the latest UVALH2 and working your way back to UVALG1 and UVALEM.
If its not on their end you may want to reinstall using odin or grab the update via kies if you haven't already. It'll rewrite the system which could fix it.

yea still on edge, i went to work today so i dont think is on tmo side, i contacted peaplearmy and i hope he'll look into it.
i was on the update when i lost the IMEI and had H2 radio, now im back to stock with EM radio, but i will give a try to all 3 radios and the update again and see if that changes anything, thanks man.

i got good news, peaplearmy solve it XD , since i kept getting errors while trying to generate a QCN, he generated one for me and that solve it.. man what a relive, now im about to back everything up, root, twrp and all the good stuff, thanks again for your help man.

I'm actually stuck on this too was about to send it back to t-mobile what should I do? I restored the imei, tried the secret menu and back on stock, plus tried multiple radios. What was achieved to fix this?

Anyone and to explain how to and where to get updated modem for wind mobile phones? Tim what I understand t mobile modem will not work with wind, though it seems everything else is the same.
Also, if I'm using faux123's kernel on sonic r6 Rom, can I still just flash a new modem or will it bork up my stuff?

from what i understand and have tried myself we dont yet have a new radio so dont flash anything yet i have tried flashing the other radios and none of them worked i would get wifi but no signal not even a connection so theres no point to flash other radios right now as for bad speeds with wind sorry to hear that man go over your settings and check you apn setting with tweakker ics you never know

So we can revert to the Wind modem if a TMO one gets flashed accidentally? I'm asking because with some of these ROMs including Aroma installers, I'm worried a TMO modem might get flashed accidentally.
First, this should be in Q&A, not development. Or you couldve asked in one of the modem threads.
No the t-mobile radios will not work for you. Most likely you will lose all signal until you revert back. Chances are it won't cause any real harm, but anything can happen.
I am trying to track down your modems so I can release them as flashable zips, for when those accidents happen!
If any of you want to pull yours and post or pm a link for me i'd appreciate it!
To pull your modem enter the following in terminal emulator:
After starting terminal:
Type "su" and enter.
Allow root access.
(The $ should change to # indicating root. )
Now type or copy paste this:
"dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 of=/sdcard/modem.bin bs=4096"
Press enter.
(Enter all commands Without the "quotes")
You should see out put in terminal with records in, records out and bytes transferred.
Now browse to your internal sdcard and you should se the modem.bin that you just pulled!
Zip it, upload it, and send me the link.
I should get it released within a day, probably a lot less!
Also I will need this info from Settings > About Device:
Baseband
Build
Kernel date
Your carrier

I can see the pm but can't read it till I get home on the computer....xda app is probably the buggiest one I've used! It freezes once it opens the pm menu then crashes....almost every time!

So I tried downloading the VVLLE6 zip from your modem thread. The MD5 matches up but TWRP gives me a Status 225 error. Any ideas?

Ok, I see the problem. Weird though, if you extract the zip you will see that the dd and flash_image files have zero size. Thats never happened before, but I had this feeling that if something did go wrong it'd be with the one I cant test!
Anyway, I'vegot to get my daughter to bed then will fix this. Sorry bout that man!

Yup, the script works on this zip. I also get the modem.backup file which, seeing as I flashed this modem over itself, should be another copy of itself (just in case).

Anyways, back to the original question....
Is the reason we don't have new radio files for wind simply because wind had not updated them at all yet whilst tmo has? Any idea if/when a wind radio might be available? Is there not a way to "port"a tmo radio to wind somehow, seeing as they are the same frequency etc, or is there some significant difference that can't be altered in a way to make it function?

As for why you guys don't have any other radios/modems, you are correct. It seems none of the Canadian carriers ever even updated ics and i have no idea if they ever will. Perhaps they just dont feel its needed....I dont know. Unfortunately I have no clue if/when you will ever see an update. How's their track record with previous phones?
I have never seen a modded/ported modem before, so I wouldn't get my hopes up for something like that. Not saying it couldn't be done or hasnt, just never heard of it.
All I can tell you is t-mobile modems have been tried on Wind, and they didn't work. Led to some frustrating problems for a number of people.

I apologize before hand if I'm coming off as a noob--thats cause I am--but I've ran into a problem.
Late last night I backed up my stock rom and installed [XXDLJ2 4.1.2][V2.0] WanamLite | Aroma. Everything went fine, the phone was working fine and after a while, I knocked out.
This morning the phone wasn't on so I figured it was dead. I immediately left it charging for a couple of hours and when I returned, the phone was still dead, no sign of life.
I'm starting to panic and I'm really hoping someone can help me.
I truly apologize for the noobing and if this thread isn't posted where it supposed to be, please accept my apologies..

Can you force into download mode or recovery. Wanamlite isnt s rom for this device so your gonna have problems with it. You need to go back to a device-stable build
Edit...are you sure your batt didnt go completely dead? Sometimes you have to use a external batt charger when its been drained all tge way

Just finish calling someone off craigslist and he was able to help me determine that it's a softbrick. He said he can fix it and install any rom I want for $50; is there anyway I can fix this on my own?

Is it even booting to a splash screen (Samsung logo)? If it is, you can force it into download mode and Odin back to stock. There are tutorials on how to do so out there.
If it doesnt turn on at all, or if it just vibrates with a dark screen, you probably have a hard brick and may want to try warrantying it out. I've never had a softbrick that wouldn't power on, and I'd be wary of your Craigslist guy if he says a phone that shows no signs of life is a soft brick...

If it doesnt turn on at all, or if it just vibrates with a dark screen, you probably have a hard brick and may want to try warrantying it out. I've never had a softbrick that wouldn't power on, and I'd be wary of your Craigslist guy if he says a phone that shows no signs of life is a soft brick...

thanx all for replying so quick!
I was the one who made mention that there was not sign of life and he was able to determine that its a soft brick. He had me press vol down+home+power and it went into download mode.
I'm on my way to go see him, he said he can fix it and install any ROM I'd like.

If I'm not mistaken, it's Clean ROM. The only issue I have is that my cell network is gone. I called and went to a retail AT&T and they couldn't figure out what was wrong.
Luckily, he's cool and we've been in contact, should be fixed by tomorrow-- Unless you guys have any suggestion in what it might be and how it can be fixed. If not, I'll see him as soon as possible.

also check to see if you have an IMEI number as well. CleanROM is an att ROM with all the correct data APNs (AccessPointNames), e.g., made from the ATT Stock ROM, so you should be able to connect. on the otherhand, if you don't have an IMEI number you'll need to fix that before you can move forward.

Ya can check and change yur apn settings by going to settings-wireless and networks-mobile networks-access point names. Ya should have an att apn if not hit the menu button and add new apn. There are proper settings found in the rom threads. Then save it. Ya can check you imei status in the about device-status menu

I'm assuming that I have an IMEI only cause the AT&T rep looked at it when I went to the store. Anyhow, it doesn't hurt to double check. Thank you for your quick responses.

So I tried this and it tells me "Insert SIM card to access netword services." I certainly have a SIM card and its a new one. Any suggestions?
As said above, waste of $50 for sure. A little patience/reading/searching would have allowed you to do this yourself.. free.

That's what I was thinking as well; the modem might have been lost or corrupted. Easy fix.
OP, if you can get yourself into download mode, you're up against a soft brick. Once you're in download mode, fixing the phone is easy for almost any level of experience. Do some reading here, skim through ROM threads and read the stickies inside-out. There's nothing that guy did that a few hours of research and a little coaching can't help you do yourself.

Theres a modem thread in the dev section here. Download it and flssh it through cwm or twrp same as you did the rom

Hi everyone I dont know if this topic is already here. I searched and foumd nothing . If you know of a thread of this sort plzz point me in the right direction, and delete this one.... ok I am o. T mobile 1 gig a month plan, sucks right? Ok I've only had the phone for about a month 4g was working at first then I used it all up, so I rooted my phone and ive been flashing roms left and right ...call me rom flashing addict . I've done , cm10, cm10 panaroide, frosty jb, wiked icis, serenity rom, among others.. well today I payed my bill again and im supposed to have 4g but not getting it .. tried flashing a back up of the stock rom amd still nothing. Power cicled , took out gsm, and nothing...any help would b sooooo ... amaxing thanx.....

yes it has been turned to 0 ....from what I can see there is no solution but to send to Samsung right??? I have the number is on the back of my phone , but I don't think there is a way to input it to my phone .....

Ok i just check my phone and found a folder that is named efs backup can anybody point me in the right direction to restore it?? I think they were made when making a back up of the rom using cwr

Thank you for this link I was able to restore my imei number and my media hub and music hub are working again.. so that was amazing but I didn't get my 4g back but still better than before. I think im just gonna have to pay samsung to fix.....I will defenatly make a back up next time....

thank you so much for this I was able to get my 4g working again using the nv itemgenerator from mr.Geek and then following post 3 from peoplearmy. I have thanked them both as well as making a small donation to both not much but what i can afford today... very very happy to have been able to restore my phone now I'm making a full back up.... thank you all for your fast reply and info...

No problem! I believe that post I linked also shows you how to back up your imei so just make sure to back up your imei now incase it ever goes back to 0 again

Hello there,
I've recently started trying out the 4.2.2 ROMs - I have clean flashed (factory reset --> flash rom --> reboot --> wait) Pacman v22.0 (which I have been told has updated), BlackLiquid, and the rom by Team Dirt (both with and without Uber kernel)... But all of them have a similar problem. After rebooting and waiting, I always get the messages:
- Sim card has been added, restart to use it's network
- Sim card has been removed (something something)
Often, both messages will pop up one after another. Restarting does not solve the problem and the messages regarding the sim card still appears. I'm not quite sure what the problem is and no one else seems to have had this problem. If it helps, I'm with Wind Mobile (Canada).
EDIT: As well, I can connect to my wifi but it never works : (
If anyone has a solution, any help is appreciated!
I will also post more information as needed, though if logs are required some steps to how to get those logs would be helpful and appreciated as well

Have u tried flashing the latest radio? If ur not on a mc6 or mc4 baseband u will get no service

Ah no I have not... Does the radio get me onto those basebands?
EDIT: Also, from my understanding of this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895400) the radio is for the US when it starts with a U? What if I'm in Canada, does that make a difference? Thank you!

No doesn't make a difference u need to be on either uvmc6 for T-Mobile or tlmc4 for the telus version, or Canada, https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...=vYbOpMSrljG1juwSPYvLHQ&bvm=bv.49967636,d.dmg here is the telus radio link, and here is the tmobile https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...=rqIKTm_zHMoY46YbzEpmgw&bvm=bv.49967636,d.dmg just DL and flash through recovery, if ur not on either of these radios u will get no service on 4.2.2

Thank you for the advice, I've been flashing UVLH1 over and over again, I flashed 6 as I was typing this and like magic it works! I've been trying to get 4.2 Roms to work for weeks now, thank you so much!

No problem lol all 4.2.2 roms will require the latest radio to work, of ur not on uvmc6 or telus variant it will never work lol glad ur back in action
