[Q] Can't connect to PC to unroot - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, since a few days I'm having some trouble with my Note 2's USB port. At first it wouldn't charge sometimes, and after a few tries it would work again. Friday I couldn't get it to charge at all, so I turned it off and left it at home. Today I tried to charge it again, and to my delight it worked.
Now I want to unroot my Note 2, because my custom ROM has been getting slow and so I can send it to Samsung for repair. I've found this guide: http://www.andromods.com/unroot-loc...y-note-2-to-stock-rom-firmware-with-odin.html . However, when I connect the USB cable to my PC it only charges and doesn't connect as USB storage. The "mount USB storage" option in CWM also doesn't work.
Is there a way to unroot the phone without connecting it to the computer? Or can I somehow solve the connection problem?

You can unroot from supersu...
There is an option called " Full Unroot" under settings tab...
Or you could flash a stock rom after entering download mode....
Try re-installing samsung drivers & make sure that Kies is not running while running odin!
Cheers!

You could download stock Rom place it on your SD Card,
Using Mobile Odin Flash this Stock Firmware,
Install Triangle Away , Reset the flash counter,
From Super Su Do a Full Unroot,
Factory Reset from Recovery mode which will Delete all the Root Folders.

Thanks, seems like a good plan. However I've downloaded what I thought was the stock international ROM, but now I seem to have installed a T-Mobile branded one... Where can I find the normal version?
I had downloaded this one: http://stockroms.net/file/GalaxyNote2/GT-N7100/Netherlands. I am in the Netherlands, but my provider is Hi and my device was NOT branded.

I've found this site: http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-N7100, but don't know which region I am in and can't find out via Odin as my phone can't connect to the PC... Can anyone tell me the region code for the Netherlands?

this should help you
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31801046&postcount=1

You can download one of these:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-N7100&pcode=PHN#firmware
and flash through odin.
btw country code for unbranded dutch Note2 is PHN
By flashing through odin (PC) you loose root automatically, remember to use triangle away before flashing stockrom, afaik it doens't work without root.
ooooo..stupid me......didn't read...sorry!!...the problem is that you can't connect to pc...hope i helped you a little bit with the counntry code

Hello,
I am unrooted my note 2 before, at that time it didnt give me this problem. Now this time i followed exact procedure, but Odin gives me failed notification and now i can only go to download mode. Go to kies software and click tools.. repair firmware.. will ask for S/N numver located in the battery compartment behind the battery.

i flashed cwm 6 root with odin. now im back to a very slow cyanogenmod.
can i load custom roms from here?
If you can into recovery mode (CWM) and if your phone is rooted you can flash any custom rom from there....
Check the threads of the roms which you want to install.....procedure is always there...

Hey, @Syaiffurroizt
You're better off using Odin to restore the stock image for your phone. May I ask what region you are in? Reply in 2-letter format so I can give you the right advice. (example: My region is US [United States]).
Don't use Kies. It will detect root and refuse to install or restore backups. Odin can be found here. Typically, on Samsung devices, in order to access Bootloader, as you reboot the phone, hold Volume Down and Home while it reboots. It should take you into download mode. Ignore the warning and Continue.
Before you connect your SM-T311 to your PC, make sure the drivers work (If you have Kies installed you can skip this step).
Connect your USB cable AFTER you open Odin. It should display a COM:## added! near the top of the window.
Put the md5 sum for your stock ROM in the PDA section of Odin. ( This is where I need to know your region so you are getting the right software)
PLEASE BACK UP ALL YOUR DATA, AS THE NEXT STEP WILL SURELY WIPE YOUR EXISTING ROM ALTOGETHER, INCLUDING INTERNAL MEMORY. I SUGGEST EJECTING ALL EXTERNAL STORAGE PRIOR TO REBOOTING YOUR PHONE.
Now check off F. Reset Time, Auto Reboot, and hit Start. Avoid interrupting the flash process as you can brick your device, rendering it useless. I suggest you use AC power even if you are using a laptop for a safety net.
When it's done, you will have your stock ROM back and original (factory) binary, too.
Please hit thanks if this works for you.

[Q] Bricked my SM-G925T while attempting to root. PC doesn't detect it anymore.

My phone was on stock rom, 5.1.1, and I tried to root it using zedomax's guide (found on youtube here: /watch?v=G5HDG6caoog) but I ended up bricking it.
When attempting to flash the root kernel provided in that guide, Odin gave me a FAIL result, and after that I've been stuck in a blue screen with a message that says: "An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software."
So I downloaded both Smart Switch and Kies 3.0 and both have unable to detect my device, and Odin as well.
Can anyone tell me how to proceed from here? I cannot even turn off my phone, with either holding the power button. Holding volume down, home, and power button resets the screen into the same error above
I tried 4 different cables on different USB ports on my laptop, the phone is still not getting recognized. The phone is still stuck on the same blue error screen.
Device manager looks like this:
imgur.com/XhsQf3B
update:
upon reinstalling Samsung USB drivers and rebooting the laptop, it's now recognized in the device manager and Odin, but not Smart Switch or Kies.
Try flashing the stock firmware from Samsung several times, you may get lucky and return to stock. If you do and need your phone in order to make/receive calls/messages, leave it stock, root is not safe for this phone anymore.
Pp.
I managed to flash it back to stock firmware, however it has triggered the knox count by 1. It's working fine now.
So is it not possible to root this phone at this point?

Except I use the newest Unikernel --> Here

SG4 in 4.4.4 stock ROM is looping on grey battery icon.

So this happened about a month ago. The battery drained and when I left it charging I noticed that it was vibrating and showing the grey battery icon and this loops. I have the CMR Recovery v6.0.4.7 and can only access it when connected to the wall charger. I have left it a while on CMR while connected to the wall to see if it need charging but it just does the same thing when trying to boot. I have wiped cache, dalvik cache and selected the "Fix root" option before rebooting and nothing. I have not tried to flash a ROM in fear of bricking it. I made it as far as the "Upgrading Apps" window before fully booting but it turned off. I searched a bit and some people blame a faulty USB Port and/or power switch. I have no problem in buying and replacing the USB port and the power switch, though I don't have soldering tools for the power switch. But since I don't know what the issue is exactly I haven't rushed to buy the USB port replacement. So, the question is: is it a software or hardware problem and can it be fixed? I hope this is a software issue so it can be easier to solve.
I suggest putting the phone into download mode and see if Odin recognises the phone. If it does, I would flash the latest stock rom.

Odin does recognize the phone on Download Mode. So, what you are saying is to flash the latest non-rooted ROM (OFW), correct? Like the tar files found in sites like SamMobile? That won't remove my root nor custom recovery, right? Kinda of a newb question even though I kinda know the answer, but I just want to make sure.
Flashing a stock ROM will always remove root and twrp.

Hi. So, I flashed the latest stock ROM that is available on SamMobile and it fails in Odin. Now when I plug the phone without going to Download Mode its says something about recovery mode in Kies and and a firmware upgrade issue. What is happening? Thank for your responses, btw.
What I downloaded was a zip titled "SGH-M919-TMB-M919UVUAMDL-1366964131" and inside is and tar.md5 file called "M919UVUAMDL_M919TMBAMDL_M919UVUAMDL_HOME.tar". There on the same folder as Odin.
What error message was displayed in the Odin log?
Post the entire Odin log if possible. This will help to determine the issue.
You confirmed that the phone is an sgh-m919 in download mode?
Even though you turn on the phone and see the message"...firmware upgrade encountered an error...", Odin can still be usedto flash a stock ROM as if the phone was in download mode.
The MDL firmware is too old. Try flashing the latest ROM.

Erase some apk with adb and stuck on reboot

Hi! I hope some one knows how to restore apk on a Galaxy S9 plus
I was trying to get rid of Bixby and erase some apks using adb app control, I have a backup of the apks in the computer, the problem right now it's that the phone has many photos and most of them are important , I would like to know if there is a way to avoid wipe data/ factory reset, via adb or Odin.
I'm stuck on loop after the operator logo.
It doesn't boot in safe mode.
I already have android 10 ROM but I'm afraid that if I flash it with Odin , it will wipe the user data, if there is way to Just update, or restore this files please let me know.
Thank you very much for you help.

Hi! I have tried several times, and I get failure to start, the phone is detected but the flash doesn't initiate, sometimes I get this screen, sometimes it says fail .
I have installed Samsung USB drivers, from the
Samsung Android USB Driver | Samsung Developers
You need the driver only if you are developing on Windows and want to connect a Samsung Android device to your development environment over USB.
developer.samsung.com
And Odin from here
Patched Odin 3.13.1
For those looking for a modified, modded, or patched odin that is a newer build than all the fake and renamed prince comsy 3.12.3 versions floating around. I patch recent Odin versions to offer similar functionality to the princecomsy; in that...
forum.xda-developers.com
I used the original Samsung USB cable and tried the 3 USB ports in the laptop
What else can be happening?
Thank you very much!

did you try booting into the download mode twice?
Once and then again and then start the odin.
I had to do that.
I had to flash the official firmware myself because my phone keeps crashing on the homescreen.
Didnt solve it but I did flash it properly.

go to the recovery.
connect to the PC.
open odin.
click on "reboot to bootloader"
It should go to to download mode.
what does your download mode screen say?
When I was doing this process I tried reflashing the latest rom but that didn't solve my boot loop issue.
So I flashed an older version of the rom.
Make sure the version you download is compatible with your phone.
You have G9650ZHU9FUG2 so only roms with 9 will work.
I flashed that old version and it didn't work, phone still stuck.
Then I flashed the latest one again and then my phone worked.
I used odin from the link you posted.
Odin3 v3.13.1
actually what i would suggest is downloading/re-downloading samsung usb drivers. otherwise most phones won't respond to odin even in download mode without it

Hi! Today I have successfully flashed the exact firmware that the phone had ( there is no newer) using a different laptop (it's true if the problem persist with Odin, use another laptop)
I got success message, at the very first time, and when the phone reboot, nothing , stuck as it was before, so I erased cache partition and no luck, still stuck on reboot, I have also tried repair apps , and reboot sistem now, what else should I do?
Thank you very much!
Hi! I want the community to know that using the APK adb app for Samsung it's a bad idea, after successfuly flashing the firmware and performing a factory reset several times the phone remain stucked, I downloaded about 10 different firmwares and flash them all times without an error, and the phone was bricked and stuck in boot. So I took it to the official service and nothing, still the same, then I found an external service that flash the device with a little box that they said they paid in advance for credits for using that box, it took them one full week to revive the phone, also they had to flash it several times. In conclusion, if you buy Samsung, stick with the garbage apps the throw, if you mess with the system in some way as the official technician said, the phone will be nearly unrecoverable for privacy benefits for the user. Thank you very much for the help to the community!
