Looking for a good rom - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Looking for the best 4.2 rom that's out right now. Yes I'm sure there all good but I want one that I can install reboot a couple times and not worry about battery life and etc. Help me out please my note still a virgin lol.
iTzAmazed on note 2

i haven't tried any aosp ROM yet but Mack's ROM is amazing....this thread's probably gonna be closed though......

I think you're looking for more a better kernal than a ROM. Kernals have bigger effect on battery than ROMs; although ROMs may use different kernals, and thus gives the appearance of the ROM being more battery efficient.
That's not to say you may not be interested in a different ROM. I would suggest trying Persues with a stock rom.
Towards ROMs, I personally only use deoxidezed stock. I have read and see JellyBomb and Whompass get many kudos. They're touchwiz based. May be a good place to start if you're interested in ROMs.
If you're looking for more AOSP, they're mostly in alpha and beta, but I would suggest checking Cyogenmod or ParaniodAndroid. They're on the hybrid model so you can have tablet mode of apps. Very interesting. Most things work, but not everything. As far as I know, I don't think any have Spen used. Obviously no mutliwindow, at least yet, since that's build into the framework of TouchWiz or other andriod modifications layers, and not Android itself.

Cool and thank you

1) at least I was consistent in all instances of using the same, and wrong spelling. 2) I'll write Webster and have it changed to so it''ll be spelled correctly in the future. Linux or Unix had it wrong..they just don't know it yet, LOL.
But the point was still true.

Best 4.2.2 rom right here sir:

[GUIDE] How to port ROMs

This guide is going to show you how to port ROMs to our Sprint GS3!
Before we begin, please download the programs 7zip and Notepad++ as we will need them. And get a Stock JB ROM for our Device(Preferably DeOdexed)
So lets get started!!!
1) Download the ROM you want to port
2) Open it using 7zip
3) Replace the kernel/boot.img with ours
4) Go to /system/lib/modules. Delete everything and replace with ours
5) then go to /system/lib/hw. Delete and replace everything with ours
6) For the Hard keys and soft keys to work go to /system/usr/keychars and delete and replace then go to /system/usr/keylayout and delete and replace with ours
7) Now go to /system/etc and delete the following and replace with ours:
- vold.fstab
- /wifi
- /ppp
Congrats! You have ported your first ROM! But please do the devs, and myself a favor and don't spam the Development Subforum with ports!
At the risk of sounding stupid.... is it really this easy???... LOL

I'm thinking the same thing. If so, somebody should start a single thread (idk which section) that houses all of these types of ports. This just sounds too simple to work though.
I believe that there is a program that allows you to link a rom to port with a rom from your device.. It processes it.. And spits out a supposed, ported rom. I don't remember where I read it. Maybe this is the manual method... But, I agree.. It sounds too easy

Yes, it's that easy. But porting,to me, is like the simplest form of creating a custom ROM. Next is theming and modding, then comes building from source.
Nonetheless, hopefully this motivates some people to get their hands dirty with some work

This is good for cm based roms or roms for same device but separate carriers (sprint, Verizon, etc.) But for most others it would take much more. Just have fun and don't go trying to port htc sense right away lol If you're lucky you won't have to edit framework or anything
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
If we did this would we be able to you the mods/morphs that the ROM comes with? This sounds cool and all but Sprint I believe and I could be wrong are the only one with JB Final others are leaks. Don't want to go down that road again.

I guess the OP forgot to mention this would only work with ROMs similar to our phones, for example, other GS3 variants. The Note 2 has an Exynos chip, not a snapdragon S4 like ours, so porting will require a bit more effort than what the OP stated.

I've used MIUI on a few devices. I never liked it much. Its merely ok IMO. I just stick with rooted stock on my GN2. I've tried JellyBomb and its just ugly lol.
The way we have the Sbrissen thread I would put up some money if a DEV who OWNS this phone will make a stable version of MIUI. I would not donate to someone porting this who does not actually have the Sprint GN2. Anyway, I guess it's a dead point because there doesn't seem to be anyone willing to take on the task.

The way everybody talks about Jelly bomb, its the best thing since sliced bread. Although I have it on my phone, I too think its the ugliest rom I have ever seen. The only reason I have it now, as there is a lack of anything else, atm.

Custom Stock ROM

Hey I was looking to see if there's a stock themed rom with all the stock features but custom modifications to make it have much better performance? Like with an even higher benchmark than real stock. I've found one but it had horrible performance on my phone... Not just benchmark related performance.. But anyone know a really good one? Sonics version hated my phone.. Clean flash every time

I used Wicked Sensation previously. The battery life is excellent and it's fairly fast although I never did an actual benchmark test. I had the anaconda theme on top of it and I thought it looked nice. I prefer minimal themeing but if you don't like any of the blue ones I would go with this.

Go for it.. You may find you like it.. Once you flash, head over to Morphology thread.. can make it purty that way
I think I will, at least to compare. Morphology works on both ROMs, so that's cool. I think so many of these threads get shut down, and it's a shame. For me, I'd like to see some comparisons of the different ROMs. Pros/Cons, maybe a poll on what ROM reigns supreme at this point in time, etc.
I realized FreeGS3 has, by far, the most activity in the thread. However, it's been open since July. People's doesn't have that many but it's only been opened since November. It makes it challenging when trying to actually compare and see which ROMs are actually the most popular overall.

Really, no one can give you a straightforward answer without knowing what it is about the S Pen you want to keep. The air view and the like? If so, JediROM has those TouchWiz features as I recall. Otherwise, just about any ROM for the SGN2 will work.

NFC Issue
I've rooted my GNII, I'm still with the stock ROM, and have GoogleWallet. I have an NFC that happens every so often. Mainly when I run my camera app, music player app, and GooglePlay. My phone will freeze for about 5 secs then a window pops up saying "unfortunately, NFC service has stopped". I have tried multiple "NFC Fixes" by flashing them in CWM and manually moving the files in Root Explorer with no success. GW works fine along with everything else. It's just horribly irritating. If I flash JellyThunder, will this alleviate the problem?

And have you tried this yet?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475
And I'm wondering what caused your problem in the first place. I bet it's how you got Google Wallet working on your stock firmware. Because I seen something b4, about changing/fixing your nfc file.:what: In order to get wallet working! So I didn't try it. And when Jelly Thunder came out and said Google Wallet worth no problems. I was very excited, with everyone eke that wanted it.
So all that being said: I WILL SAY THAT I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES WYETH THIS ROM WHAT SO EVER!
So I would try to do a clean wipe of your system. Then install the Rom and give it a few days to c how it quirks out for you. OR you can just wait for the NEW RELEASE COMING SOON! !

aha i see. android and its confused sexual preferences.. seriously tho... i like the gb08 update and wifi tethering and 4g are good for me. good battery too. if you want the latest,, make sure you flash a JB modem with that gb08 rom. its in the modem repository. if you do go back to ics, then flash a ics modem or youll have problems with data coming in correctly. also if you flash any aosp (cm10.1/aokp/pac,PA etc) you will need an ics modem or lower... only flash a JBmodem if you use a TouchWiz Jelly bean ROM.
if you are new, i suggest taking some time out and doing a lot of reading. not to say that you havent, but the more knowledge you gain, the easier it will be to understand this phone.
