Hey guys. I'd post this to the ROM's thread, but I don't have the rights as of yet.
I was hoping there were still some out there that use this ROM, cause I am currently running the 1.3.0 Nightly from 10-13. If you go to the index of files on the server, though, there is a 10-24 nightly available. Does anyone know if they use this one? Do any features get broken if I switch? do the Data Arrows animate in the newer nightly? I know this is a non-support ROM, but I figured it is worth asking. Thank you, in advance.

I decided to just flash it with Tiamat's 1.1.5 kernel. I see only improvements with this build. Not that anyone cares, seeing as ICS AOSP gets better and better every day, haha. I am considering another flash...
Im looking to get everyones input on a new 4.2 toro rom. I see there are a few out there but unlike 4.1.1 I havent heard much about which is the best AOSP rom. Does anyone have any input. Most of the ones I have seen so far dont have Gapps baked in or have other serious flaws that havent been fixed. Is there anything out there someone would recommend? thanks guys.

I'm using the Jelly Belly v10.2 and loving it. http://rootzwiki.com/topic/28677-ro...-jelly-bean-42-aosp-its-all-about-the-butter/ You'll have to flash gapps and what not. I always do a clean wipe install to avoid problems. I think some having issues due to dirty flashing.
Before you jump to 4.2, make sure your recovery and backup tools are at the latest versions to avoid the 0/0/0/0 stuff and unable to find your backups.
Most of them work & have no less bugs than any 4.1.2 roms. If you're looking for some that are 99% functional try one of the following
MMuzzy - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762846
mROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1763823
Eclipse - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006051
Jelly Belly - http://rootzwiki.com/topic/28677-ro...-jelly-bean-42-aosp-its-all-about-the-butter/
Also if you're going to try a 4.2 ROM make sure you are using a recovery that supports the new multi-user file system.

I recently flashed a rom called BlackJelly (4.1.1) and now can't get any of my wifi hotspot apps to run. I've tried Barnacle and a few variants of WiFi Tether. They both come up with errors.
In my research, someone stated that this option is dependent on the kernel. Can this be?
This should be posted in the Q and A forums instead of in the development forums. My suggestion would be to send a pm to the person who built the rom or ask in the thread for that paticular as you may be able to get a better answer.

Wrong section for this...if you were paying for it (which, most likely not) hit up the dev. Before you do that, try another browser...like opera or safari and see if it works. some time flashing back the kernel that was meant for the rom will fix this...sometimes flashing another kernel all together will fix it...trial and error. if all dont work, hit up the dev.
but this is not the right section for this.

I myself have been thoroughly enjoying INFAMOUS S4. It has the features I need, is faster than stock, and is very stable with great battery life. Just did a full backup of 3.3 and upgrading to 3.4 as I type this

does INFAMOUS S4 rom get rid of the bloatware?

Sure does. They also have a zip with the bloat should you require it for some reason.

Instead of giving you a particular ROM suggestion, I'll give you the best way to find the one that best suits you. First, you have to decide what features you want. If you want all the smart stays, the air move, and the other Samsung stuff, you definitely want TouchWiz. If you want a (negligibly) more responsive feel that's more barebones and to the core of Android, go with one based on/around CyanogenMod (or even the Google Edition). Before flashing any new ROMs I'd spend at least an hour reading through both the Android Development and Original Android development sections. You don't have to read every page of every thread, but at the very least read the OP. You should know within the 1st page what features are included, whether it's TouchWiz or not, if it's themed, etc. Most of the TW ROMs are already debloated and will say so in the OP. The CM bases have no carrier bloat at all. If it interests you, take a look at the last few pages. The reason you want to read the last few pages is to get a feel of what bugs are present. As the ROMs get updated and the threads grow, chances are that problems reported on the 3rd page aren't going to be relevant on page 26. If you try one you like, make a nandroid backup of it and keep the backup updated: that way, if another one pops up that you want to try, or you just feel adventurous and want something new, you'll have your backup(s) and can much more easily surf between ROMs if you so desire.
I've gone through Wicked, Jedi, Infamous S4, Infamous Google Edition, and Alpha roms. Personally, I liked Jamison's Infamous roms the best. I'm currently on his Alpha rom, which is based on the international phone's firmware(or something like that?) and has no wifi calling. But it's pretty smooth. Currently Jamison seems to be the fastest on updating all three of his roms, so if you want continual added features/bug fixes go with any of his roms. Wicked was very nice and stable when I used it, but I got flash-happy and couldn't stick with it since he updates like once a month. In the end it's all up to you though.
P.S. The Infamous S4 and Alpha roms recently have had the Samsung apps added back in, not sure why cos I haven't really read all the posts in the thread. You can easily remove them yourself though.

Members are expected to do the research and read through the ROM threads in development before flashing software that will drastically alter their $700 device.
Hi, what rom do you use for your rogers i747m? I am looking for one and can't decide, must of them look good and seems a good choice (for at&t variant)... I am looking for something stable with good (least as stock) battery life. What make you chose this one.
THANK's for your input
JS
Hyperdrive and wicked are on top of my list, supernexus (can't remember if compatible) is too
I just loaded CyanogenMod 10.1 a few days ago. Can't believe I waited so long.
I was experiencing lag (the ten seconds to dial issue, slow typing, etc) all the time, instability and overall a crappy user experience.
After loading CM 10.1 it was like I'd bought a new phone. It's remarkably fast (I can never remember it being this fast and I've had it for a year), the new android 4.2.2 features are great, and the battery life seems to have improved slightly.
I forgot to backup two apps so I may have to reload the old ROM, but I'll switch it back to CM 10.1 as soon as I have that data in hand.
Highly recommended.
Hmmm It really depends on what you are looking for. I also own a rogers Galaxy S3 btw. Keep in mind battery life differs for every people because they use it differently. Use Greenify on the play store to save some battery life.
The smoothest Rom I ever used was CM10.1. That was the first rom I've ever flashed on this phone and I rarely had problems. For the battery life, it depends on which rom I flash. I usually do get a slightly lesser battery life than usual.

I also enjoyed Task650's AOKP Roms. It's similar to CM10.1 except there's more features on this rom. I admit I haven't flash this rom for a while so I don't know how smooth it got. Last time I used it was almost smooth as CM10.1. Battery life also depends on which version you flash. Sometimes I get terrible battery life or sometimes I get a similar stock battery life.

I've tried Hyperdrive rom..... and this thing has a LOT of features. I think its almost too much but it can't hurt I guess. You get similar battery life to stock, if you don't add too many features (Only thing I added was AOSP features and a bit of Samsung features). Only painful part about this rom was waiting for the rom to finish download because of it is large file

I'm currently using Dandroid. This rom is basically running a mixture of Touchwiz + Cyanogen. You get a pretty similar stock battery life AND you get an AOSP experience. Since you like the SuperNexus and Hyperdrive roms, I think you'll like this as well.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121506&highlight=multi+window
I haven't tried SuperNexus yet, but I will get to that when they release a newer build.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219944
And then there's liquidsmooth, ParanoidAndroid, PacMan, RootBox, etc..... So many to choose from
If you want good battery life, you probably want to use a rom that is based on Touchwiz (Android 4.1.2).
In my experience, roms based on CM10.1 or AOSP/AOKP tend to be smoother than touchwiz based roms, but Touchwiz based roms have better battery life. Not sure about other people. I would love to hear their experiences!

Sorry for wrong section. thought was more an opinion wanted than i need an answer.
I know that battery life will differ from one user to the next, since not the same usage, but if someone see an improvement on that manner than i should see an improvement.
Thanks for the imput, and keep bring them in

gapps there, but do i need to installed them (gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip) or included in the dandroid rom. Running stock de-bloated (app freezed atm), do i need to reinstalle stock and than flash dandroid or cmw recovery flash dandroid (after clear cache/dalvik and all)
Download gapps from the ROM you downloaded. You can try flashing gapps but if doesn't work, you have to reflash your ROM. Factory reset, wipe cache /dalvik, flash ROM, flash gapps.
You don't need to go back to stock. Just clean flash

There you go
OP, if you are installing a TW ROM you don't need to install any gapps. The gapps are included in the ROM.
For AOSP, AOKP, etc type ROMs you need to flash a separate gapps package that is usually linked in the ROM thread.
You can download http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip which is for 4.1.2 or you can just ask which gapps can I use in the OP.
Information from the developer
All apps updated to 4.1.2 versions.
Google Play Store updated to 3.9.16.
Should be backwards-compatible with 4.1.1.
Does NOT contain the leaked Gmail with pinch-to-zoom. GApps do not include leaked/test versions of Play Store applications, especially when the signing key differs from the Play Store version(s).
