Hey guys !
While I don't want to repeat myself in multiple threads, I created a thread into I9500/I9505 section related to a petition to make Samsung (or retailers) release the 32GB and the 64GB versions. We would like to get your help, as the request is referred to the whole world.
Please sign and share the petition.
Thank you everyone !

You do realize that each size jump would increase the price of the phone greatly? It isn't going to be $50 more for 32GB version. It would be at least $100 more for 32GB and probably $250 more for $64GB. That would make the $64GB version close too $900.
Except for iPhones, no carriers would subsidize phones that would cost more than $199 price point after the subsidy this means that you'd be stuck paying for $900+ tax upfront. Only small amount of buyers would do that, especially knowing that all new Samsung phones already have the capability of microSD.
@deaffob: sdcard is not a solution for installing apps.
Between S3 16gb and 32gb it's only $60 difference. Even if will be $80-$100, I don't care. I'm sure this who already signed the petition don't care either. Sdcard is not a solution

Why would you want more than 16gb? Most of is use microsd cards ...

While I agree that 16gb and a micro sd is more than enough, not everyone does. He's not asking for opinions so either sign the petition or move along. If some people want more internal storage and are willing to pay more then let them.

It's more about carriers not wanting the larger capacity phones than Samsung releasing them. Doesn't AT&T already have the 32gb version?

Yup I've got the ATT 32gb, but only available in Black... I wanted white oh well...
I'd sign the petition for a white 32 or 64gb haha.
As @elflip88 said, 8.5 GB is not a solution for everybody. I like to have lots of apps and games installed. You can't install apps on a sdcard and folder mount is not working properly.
I don't ask for suggestions, neither those who signed. We just want that version.

I agree with the OP. Having the option for expandable microSD card is nice for music, pictures, and video storage but it is not a solution for games & apps and app data. I feel 32GB should be default. Not every carrier offers unlimited data so cloud storage sucks for people who have a cap on their data plan.
Personally waiting for the 32gb S4. 13 MP camera and apps with only 8 gb of space? Not happening.
Why dont you just put a 32 or 64 Gig micro sd card in your phone

Pretty simple. Social network apps and 4 big games. And this on the S3, with 11gb free space

The partition for the OS ,stock software, and future updates on the Galaxy S4 uses 6GB+ of internal memory.
I think that once the stock OS starts taking up close to half of internal memory, its time to start thinking about an upgrade in memory standards.
Apple and HTC both offer 32GB and 64GB models. I don't see why Samsung couldn't at least give the option of more memory for those who want to pay more for it.
With that said, I debloat every phone I get and even with 60+ downloaded apps installed I haven't even filled half of my internal memory and use a 32GB microSD for any media or files.
I had an att prick brag about his 32gb to me in person. I chuckled, and showed him how i made calls over WiFi, then poped my cover and showed him my 64gb microsdxc card,..
"So I still got 32gb internal and can put the 64gb in there!" he says. so i retort, " but your still in contract and paying more monthly then I am even after the TMO financing" -- i watch as he releases an uneasy chuckle as he realizes he is getting boned monthly
Guys, another problem with those 8.5 gb available memory is that not everyone have unlimited data with their plans. I like to save offline music with Google Music and all those is going into internal memory. At least Google should leave us install and save all that music into the sdcard. Then, Google Maps in offline mode have the same problem. I have the S3 but after getting the S4 I don't plan to upgrade a while. I think a 1.9GHz is enough for a phone (my laptop have 2.1 GHz). I don't want to be out of space all the time. I want to get the unlocked S4. I would pay $100 more just to get the 32GB version. Why in South Africa the 32gb S4 is standard, while in Europe and US we all get the 16gb ? Isn't that retarded enough from Samsung ?

they have a wifi calling app now, don't forget, LTE for TMO is still MIA in many places.
The un-carrier plans are ridiculous, so much the FCC required them to change the wording.
149 for 16gb + 20 per month for 24 Months 480, That's 630 for the phone.
Where I live ATT has better penetration, and I get discounts through my Employer, no discount for Tmo, that was enough to make me switch to AT&T.

I pay 80 for 500 mins, unlimited texts, and unlimited DATA, truly unlimited not that cap off at 2gb. I paid 329 down for my phone so I'm only paying 12.5 a month. Will probably pay it off early so I can have a small bill.

I still get a discount too. 15% on plan plus device discounts and accessories. I refer people to tmo all the time and thats additional $$$ per person/ was so I wasn't really paying for service.

Was NOT aware they had wifi calling finally (UMA) - Good, it is about time. Helps take the traffic off their backbone. '
Any clue if the 'RAT' feature is able to be removed from the ATT version?

Hi. I have a 16g gsm GN and would like to know if the 16g mem card can be exchanged with a 32g one.I have seen this on the HTC HD7. Can it be done with the GN.
Teardown threads do not show the mem card/chip.
Thanks
It is on the motherboard itself. Not user replaceable.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Ok thanks. It would be cool to change it though.Maybe I must give it a go.
I don't think desoldering the NAND chips and soldering on replacements would be easy or worthwhile. These are very tiny components with dozens of pins that were soldered using a reflow oven. Getting them off without completely destroying the main board would be highly unlikely.
Not to mention you'd need to find NAND chips that would work properly with the existing eMMC controller...
I see the only reason Google put 16gb in the GSM phone is it try and get people to start using the cloud... I would try that if I were you... but its defiantly its not worth destroying the phone just to add 16gb..
You'd probably have more luck trading in your 16gb nexus + some cash for a 32gb one if you're really serious about getting the extra 16gb space.

Yeah. I'd find it strange if they only released a 32gb CDMA version though, as opposed to both CDMA and GSM. You never know though.
Personally I wouldn't bother trading up my nexus to 32gb even if I could, unless the cost of it was extremely negligible. I'd rather have unlimited data and stream everything instead!

Since I moved a lot of my stuff to the cloud, I don't even use half of my 32gb space.
I'm on a Sprint employee advantage plan with my brother I'm law. I just got my GS2 in October when I switched from tmo (fast data makes for fast throttling...at 1 week into the billing period). I tried several times to buy the 32gb at full price through telesales but all they could do was transfer my call from one CS to another until finally one CS told me the employee advantage sponsor has to order it from the employee computer. Asked brother in law and he said I gotta wait until it's avail for employees (prob about a month) even if I buy it outright. He said I could go in store to get the 16gb now if I want. My real q is should I go for the lower memory to get it now or wait? I have a 64gb MicroSDXC I bought that arrived already. On my current phone I'm always low on internal space because Google music and my pod cast app only stores to internal storage.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
I say get it now and here's why
U have 64GB scars that I doubt u will fill anyway.
U have 16GB of internal memory.
Don't forget u also get 50GB dropbox, and Google music is supposed to be used to stream s it doesn't eat urban phone.
So u alrdyy got over a hundred gigs, I think ull be good. Plus saving a lil dough is always good

ROMs and Backups are getting only bigger. My NANdroid of stock is over 700 MB, and I downloaded Blazer and it's 528 MB. Not to mention the 16GB model has only 11GB of actual storage. If you've got the patience, go with the 32GB.

32s are available. Op is saying he has too wait cuz he's on an employee plan. I ordered mine this past Sunday and received it Tuesday.
Get the 32 gig. Since the G3 apps will not write or transfer to the eternal sd card you could need the 32 if you game etc.. You will need to use something like directory bind or a Dev patch to overcome this.

Below is some more info explaining the problem and why the 32 gig Samsung S3 model could be better for you.

Looks like my fate has been determined. I think sprint tried to push the ICS OTA to my GSII that was running MIJJz ICS and now my phone is hardbricked. Only get a blue LED when I turn it on and it stays lit until I pull the battery. Going to sprint to get the 16gb today because I can't wait a week for them to replace my GSII under TEP
It all worked out

Nope, Went down with all my GS3 stuff I bought and my brother in law said I can't even buy the 16gb outright in the store because it'll show up on my account. I'll wait another week and if it's still not avail I might just have to go BB and price match the $549 16gb price (bb is selling it for $699 lol). I did get a replacement for my hard bricked E4GT tho in store.
Great news for advantage club members, the GSIII is now available. Waiting for my brother in law to send me the link for the 32GB version

Fyi do your brother in law a favor and stop over thinking how your going to get the latest and greatest phone. If you were to end up with a phone that hasn't been released to employees and put it on your advantage club line he could be fired. When the iPhone came out if one of our advantage lines went behind our back and bought an iPhone on eBay activating it meant we were done. We got emails stating to tell family and friends on advantage lines to not buy em period because a couple of employees found out the hard way. Advantage club is a sweet deal but it comes with annoyances, just a give and take kinda deal

Just wanted to hear some thoughts.
At first, I was really turned off by the idea of LG manufacturing the next nexus, yes, even after their Optimus G, I just didn't like them as a manufacturer, but I think they really outdid themselves with the Nexus 4 (at least for my expectations of them) and it seems to be a solid device.
4.7in IPS 1280x768 (320ppi)
Qualcomm SnapDragon S4 Pro (Quad Core)
2GB RAM
8 & 16GB configurations @ $300 and $350 respectively for UNLOCKED VERSIONS OMG YES
8MP Rear Camera with a Sony-manufactured sensor/1.9MP Front Camera
Pentaband/HSPA+ 21
BT 4.0
2100MAH non removable battery (with inductive charging)
And the yummy 4.2 JB
IMO, this phone is irresistible in everything except the screen *cough* AMOLEDs are awesome *cough*, I really want to drop Sprint and go the Tmo Prepaid way, even if there's no support for full HSPA+42.
And the Camera should be amazing.
So, what are your opinions?
I've seen reports that it is 42 capable. Either way, the nascent Sprint 4g doesn't come close. I'm jumping after 12 years with Sprint.

I'll be leaving sprint as soon as possible due to their down right embarrassing 3G. My area was promised wimax by local stores and then they scrapped it for LTE. Now they say no LTE until the end of next year. Verizon has had LTE here for a while and AT&T is close if they haven't already.
I love the device but the network leaves much to be desired.
I wish T mobile had good coverage in my area because they have always been my favorite.

I also don't like the idea of no expandable memory.
If they don't release a sprint version of this phone in November, I am definitely switching to a carrier that is willing to have the nexus phone. I am fed up with manufacturers not releasing their source code, waiting on sprint to push updates, etc. Just gonna get realistic and go with a phone that will always be up to date. Regardless of the carrier. They all suck. And they're all overpriced.
No expandable memory for me is a deal breaker 16 would fill up quickly for me.. Music, apps+data, pictures.. I know the whole "cloud storage thing is being pushed and what's in, but I like having my stuff actually on my phone especially if I want to turn data off

Honestly, I think 16GB is just enough. If you're really gonna fill that up with Games, buy a tablet or a console, or a PC!.\ If you're gonna fill it up with pictures, perhaps it's time to invest in a camera. As for files, I actually like Drive and/or Dropbox, because everything is nice and synced from phone to computer, and if I REALLY need to keep something locally on my phone (which once I get Tmo, I won't have to, since I can have HSPA+ all the time due to their amazing coverage), both Drive and Dropbox give me the option. Plus, even though this move towards a fixed amount of memory from the start is all about money, it also has some speed benefits (faster bootup times) and it can get out updates quicker since that's one less driver they need to have (MicroSD card slots, I'm looking at you)
I'm really hoping Sprint has to raise their prices soon, a few cents so I can dip.
I think a good majority of people also have a separate music player (cd's, ipods, zunes, flash drives, whatever) so they aren't as concerned about storage space on their phone. I've never even come remotely close to filling my E4GT's space
Nexus 4 makes me want to buy it off contract and jump to Straight Talk.

It sure seems to be paying off to be GSM right now. CDMA is really showing a lot of draw back issues with the whole issue. I would prefer to have a GSM carrier right now seeing at how cheap the price of the new nexus is.
Meh, non removable battery is a killer for me.. I'll stick with my Touch.. May get the S3 soon.. Still holding off tho. (Got other things to tend to first) Nice phone spec wise.. just not anything i'm willing to jump ship for yet.
It's better to get the lg optimus g at this point if you're on sprint I won't be getting neither I'm holding out for s4. I'll be trading in my iPad3 for the nexus10 for sure. IOS have too many limitations not being able to jailbreak and or root is a big deal. If you want an iPad3 hit me up.

I just got done researching this. Something that I've seen throughout the reviews/tests is that the att side of service is faster, has more coverage, and is more reliable. Also, delete the apn (iirc) info for higher speeds to disable straight talk's proxy.
Nexus 4 or not, I'm ready to leave Sprints terrible service by my area.
I finally got the boot for roaming and I'll be taking my 3 lines elsewhere. I have my money ready for the N4.
I've heard some really bad things regarding Straight Talk, that they're really shady when it comes to "Unlimited Data". I've heard them call and threaten to cancel service if someone went over 100mb in one day.

Let's hope that by the time AT&T releases the 32GB S4 it's just as easy to crack/unverify the bootloader as the 16GB currently is.. right now all I'm hoping is the other two unlimited-like providers (ahem, Sprint and T-mobile) will release it at some point to laugh in all our faces and be like "LOL YA GOTTA PAY AGAIN FOR DOUBLE THE GIGS"...
also I thought that the 64GB was a gigantic tease?
I'm waiting for 32gb too. But I want to buy from 3rd party since I have a upgrade. Ordering from t-mobile will be a last resort. Not selling the 32gb off the bat is a rip.
T-mobile won't bbe getting 32gb, they recommend using a external sd.

I have many app ideas, but don't have the skill or the time to learn how to make an app. if you would like to know an idea and attempt to make one, just message me.

I have spoken with T-Mobile Customer Support approximately 10 times about the Galaxy S4 and the availability of the 32GB and 64GB models over the last 6 weeks. I have also talked with several supervisors.
They all say the same thing, i am paraphrasing here - "T-Mobile will be carrying the 32GB and 64GB Samsung Galaxy S4. The availability schedule and cost is unknown at this time. Also, it is unknown whether they will be available on line and/or in retail stores."
I have a friend who is the manager of a T-Mobile retail store and he has told me the same thing.
I hope what I have been told is correct.
I will wait for the 64GB phone. Worst case I will buy one from Europe.

And what? T-Mobile representatives are as informed or less-informed than the XDA community here. It's the same deal with LTE. You can ask them and they'll tell you the S3 is capable of getting LTE, when the hardware is not even present. I tend not to really take their word for anything. If there was a 32GB S3 available, I am 99% sure there will be a 32GB S4 in the future. Only thing I can't promise is when it will come.

So are you on the Classic? I also have an upgrade but am wondering if it is still advantageous as before. Since I have loyalty discounts on my data plans, if I use my full upgrade eligibility, I might lose those. Are you also receiving discounts or are you paying $20/month for data with the Classic?

I can bet on the 32GB version. Still not sure about the 64GB version, since probably only a minority will want to spend $100 more for an extra 32GB of storage. 32GB seems to be the right size for the frequent users. I will point out though that since the HTC One and Iphone 5 are available at 64GB, it is a good possibility we will see a 64GB S4.

RMXO, I am pretty sure, that the 64GB AT&T Exclusive was for the HTC One. I don't think it was for a GS4.
Here is a link, but then again, I could be wrong: http://www.androidcentral.com/att-apparently-has-exclusive-64gb-htc-one
I'm not gonna hold my breath. Hopefully we can implement a "fusion" drive like newer macs. I know it's possible to make your own with a few unix commands, so I wonder if another dev and I could get it working on the S4. A fusion drive is basically a SSD+Traditional HDD that the system sees as one drive. It automatically moves the lesser used items to the slower drive and keeps the system intensive files on the faster drive. Essentially we could use this technology to make our MicroSD and EMMC appear as one unit on the OS.
I don't get it, why do people want the 32GB? The 32GB costs $50 more. For $50 (ok, $54) you can buy a 64GB Class 10 MicroSD card on Amazon. That gives you 80GB total vs. 32GB. Must be a good reason, what am I missing?

You are missing the fact that you only have about 8-9 Gb on board for all your apps and certain app data with no ability to move apps to an SD card (unless rooted). Plus, AFAIK, many stock and third-party apps (e.g. camera) restricts saving data (e.g. video) to the built-in storage.
I did thought about just buying a 8-32 GB SD card when I get my GS4 if the 32GB version hasn't been released yet.

Yes, I have the classic plan, $20 for data (5 Gigs), but I have my parents on my plan too. No discounts though. Plus, I'm sure they'll have a 32gb S4. AT&T's got one now. Sooner or later, the others will follow suit. Since I have a upgrade, I'm hoping to buy the s4 from 3rd party. Paying full price will be a last resort.

OK. I am using Foldermount Pro to move apps/data to the SD card. Seems to handle most of the biggest space hogs (like Titanium) without an issue.

I guess I just assumed most people here would root and use something like FolderMount but if you didn't want to root I can see the problem.
I have the S4 now and love it, but I know for sure when the 32GB comes out I will be going through buyers remorse with the 16GB.
So I have a Note II as a back up, therefore, I'm thinking of returning my S4 16GB before my 20 days is up so that I can just get the 32GB hopefully in a few days. Hey, if it's longer than a few days it won't matter since I have the Note II.
Hmm....I'm sure others are going through a similar dilemma.
UPDATE: RETURNED! --- and VERY HAPPY WITH THE DECISION. 32GB here we come....64GB here we come?
Personally im content with my 16, i have a 32 Micro from my SII that im transfering over. Having things on Sd makes it much easier to transfer to and from the device.
Will this week be the magic week? I hope that it is... 16GB either way you slice it is way too small.
Sent from my S4
...
Interesting. I guess we'll just have to take their word for what it's worth. I'm hoping for the best....Because....
I returned my 16GB S4 today and now temporarily back on my Note II. With att making available their 32gb version this week, lets hope for the best with TM making a smart move in not being too far behind.
The S4 is by far TM's best Smartphone hands down. It would make absolutely no sense to only have the 16GB. Right? LOL ...
:fingers-crossed:

I talked to several T-Mobile agents, they've all said they'll be getting the 32gb/64gb variants, since they want they latest flagship phones (and they also got the 64gb iphone) - they'll just cost a couple hundred more.
I think I'll wait a few months after T-Mobile gets the 64gb S4 and trade up, I'm very happy with the one I currently have + a 32gb class 10 Samsung micro-sd card to go with.

I plan to do the same once before my 30 days which start tomorrow when I get the phone & port my AT&T # to TMO. Hopefully, they will have the 32GB before my 30 days but if they don't then I'll use my GN2 until they do.
I just talked to T-Mobile, they say it will be 730$ for the 32 gbs and they will have it this Wednesday... I returned mine but I'm not sure if dropping another 100 would be worth it.
Why pay an extra hundred dollars for 16gb when you can buy a 64gb micro sd for under $60?

Because it's internal memory & some people need/want more then 80gb total.

$730 doesn't make a whole lotta sense for double the capacity, considering it's a norm that it's only $50 more for all android phones nowadays. I think the Rep you talked with was mis-informed.

I agree $100 more for the 32gb doesn't make sense & not worth it but I would consider if it was $50 more though. Hopefully this Weds is true.
Lets say Weds is true, can I return mine to a store if they have it, if I bought it over the phone via their Advantage program? I know AT&T you can or do I have to call in?

I would imagine the same...$50 would be awesome, but if you look at the iphone on TM's website, they are in $100 increments. Sucks I know HOWEVER, it's just one of those things (at least to me) where internal memory just comes with a price because it's a need rather than just a want for most. Either way...I'll get it.

I'm asking myself if I can wait it out that long for the 64GB LOL. It's a very hard decision you know Heck, maybe it'll launch at the same time!
Although my back up phone is the Note II (gosh I have to slap myself sometimes, because that's nothing to complain about; some people would dream to have the Note II) I think I'll have less of a "Samsung Galaxy S 4 Remorse" anxiety than I do now with being stuck with the 16GB. ....However.... I'll probably sell my 32GB then to upgrade haha...

Just do it. You won't regret it.
For what it's worth you'll do more harm resisting yourself than actually going for it to make you happy. Like that dessert you shouldn't be eating a third time around....yea....just go for it and be happy. LOL

Yeah, I think I'm going to do it too because I know for a fact my GF will get annoyed hearing me tell her "I wished I got the 32gb" all the time, LOL. In my case, I just switched to TMO from AT&T & the initial cost was higher than anticipated so I'm just trying to keep the total cost down but the extra 16GB is a need though. So, I'll just bite the bullet & get it if its $100 more but I hope its $50 though.

update us tomorrow whether it's good or bad news. btw, i don't think you can return the phone to store when you bought it from t-mo website or through the phone. you'll need to call them and ask nicely that you wanna exchange the device (with reasons of course), then they'll probably send you a new one and a prepaid label for the return of the old. i had to exchange for the s2 back then, and they allowed me to keep both phones for a few days and then decide which to send back, but can't say they are still doing the same now. good luck either way.

Thanks & will do but I doubt it will be released 2mrw though but stranger things has happened. I'm guessing by end of this month or next. Plus, nothing on twitter yet or any other news source.
I think AT&T has the exclusive in getting all models first then other carriers since hardware is identical.
Before I switched to TMO. I asked what's the return policy if a 32gb were to come out & they told me I can exchange within 30 days. Let's hope they do release it soon or I'll just stick to the 16gb.
I could always resale once 32gb comes out but that will all depend on how much I can sell for. I'm better off keeping it, if I take a big hit.
