You will need to increase system partition size...try flashing arc s stock ftf file...
Sent from my Xperia Neo V using xda app-developers app
Try this:
1. Flash stock ARC S (LT18i, even if your phone is LT15i) .ftf file.
2. Boot to the stock ROM. Let it settle for 5 minutes.
3. Check USB debugging under "developer options" settings menu and Unknown sources under "security" settings menu
4. Flash your favorite kernel thru fastboot
5. Format system, data, and cache.
6. Flash your favorite ROM.

Hia All, I have had a look on here and I cannot seem to find an all in comprehensive guide on the mod.
I am looking for pointers, on how to install, the pros and cons etc, and anything else that should be mentioned.
Perhaps, this could be made into a Sticky as I cant find much on here about it and I think its an important topic.
Also, Will this CM7 work with the 2.3.4 ? And what will we miss from 2.3.4 that we wont get in the CM7 rom? Also, will it over clock my cpu etc.
Thanks for all of your input guys, its greatly appreciated.
A
download files, unzip rom and gapps to sd card. put boot.img in fastboot folder and flash kernel using fastboot, reboot to recovery and flash zips, *wipe data* reboot. if you're on stock 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 then you don't need to change, if you're on any other fw then flash original 2.3.3/4 through flashtool. benefits; performance, customizing, ram, etc.
downsides; no se home widgets etc.
ps cm7 v24 is 2.3.5

On ICS you can run fpse and n64oid even with touchpad support!
I'm testing the rom and run really fast. First time the keyboard is not working, but if restart phone the keyboard run without problems. I try tonight some games and emulators, i'm a newbie and I can't post on the rom post now but I try to put here pros and cons. I'm really happy to have this from on my phone.

1) Do you have unlocked bootloader on your phone?
2) Try putting on fastboot mode your phone and flash boot.img with flashtools

Do you have wiped cache and data before installing the rom?
Sorry for my bad English. It's not my native language.

Hi!
Before flashing the doomlord kernel and installing the rom, wipe every thing.
Factory reset, cache partition and dlavik cache... That worked for me.
I'm using CM9 CR2 at the moment, and is the best so far....
Hope this works for you!
Cheers :good:

thnx man i will look for them i appreciate it .. also would u mind telling if the cwm from xparts app all i need to install the rom? can i keep the stock kernel from my 2.3.3?
Use version 5 or below... The newest version doesn't work correctly.

Root GB 2.3.3. Use CWM Installer v5 to install CWM. Flash NXT Lite rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2067356&highlight=cdma. It work with stock kernel, which is why you don't need to unlock bootloader. But remember its free to unlock it from Sony site. Personally I recommend using Flashtool to update to kernel 2.3.4, when you flash the ftf you can uncheck everything, but the kernel.

Hey guys I stumble on. Installin nxt rom I get a error saying md5 Mismatch u guys know nthing bout this? Thnx

It mean the checksum didn't match up which mean the rom file is corrupt. Do a disk check on your sdcard.

Also make sure if you are downloading a flashable rom or a Nandroid backup. If it's a nandroid you have to put it in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup and Restore it.

If you changed or removed a system file on your stock rom, whether it was a browser or one of the gapps, you'll get an md5 mismatch. This has happened to me on one of my tablets, I flashed a stock factory rom to put everything back into order, then flashed the custom rom after, and all was well.
Thnx guys I will try the scan disk on card see if it work when I get home ... N I never removed anything from previous stock rom so I dnt know ... also so a terminal emulator fix but dnt know how to do it I'll keep u guys posted
thnx

Follow the instruction from the rom thread, it's a nandroid, you have to restore it, not flash.

Alright so after trying all kinds of stuff I found a fix for md5 Miss match .. I simply just took all the spaces of the folder name .. example: rom super 1 I just renamed romsuper1. OK so I followed the rom tutorial and all went good but after I rebooted it started with Sony Ericson logo then a Expedia logo the went back to Sony logo then Expedia logo n so so it wouldn't boot ... so i did the same process again ass tutorial but this time didn't clean dalvik cache like tutor said too before reboot. And it started fine .. my question is .. is my from now messed up maybe cuz I sent clean dalvik? Should I do all over again? I appreciate all patience and help

So did you restore the nandroid backup and booted into the new NXt rom successfully? Then you should just do a factory reset.
Before you flash a rom or restore you should always do a factory reset or the phone might not boot, in CWM this is equivalent to choosing "wipe data/cache", this will encompass the wiping of dalvik cache which is contained within /data partition. Doing this will clean off personal data.
Sometimes you have to "wipe /system partition" as well, this is equivalent to wiping C:/Windows, as in the entire OS is gone. Then you have to restore a nandroid or flash the rom otherwise the phone has no OS to boot into.
You can choose to wipe only cache and dalvik cache, these are just temporarily files. I do it before making a nandroid backup.

Yes I got it to work successfully.. but I did not do a factory reset after.. wouldn't that wipe the from I just recovered? Thnxs for all ur help man.

Hi guys, so I flashed the PAC rom but don't really like the feel behind it and miss my old ROM.
I'm just trying to downgrade, but I found that flashing my old ICS ROMs in recovery won't work. I really don't want to use the flashtool, but if I have to, I will. Flashtool has just given me problems before and I don't want to brick my S.
Any ideas on how to downgrade from PAC (Jellybean) to ICS again using recovery mode?
P.S. Tried searching, not much came up related to the Xperia S so I wanted to ask.
Sv: [Q] Downgrade from Jellybean to ICS
Recovery... As of you have a backup? If not then flash ics kernel and install ics rom...
In this order..
Flash ics kernel
Wipe all.. System, data,cache, dalvik
Install ics rom
Reboot
Works for me

I do have a NANDroid backup (I think that's what they're called, anyway) but of course that gives me an error when flashing (something about the boot image.)
But I skipped the first step that you mentioned when flashing the ICS ROMs, which is to Flash the ICS Kernel.
Thanks! Worked.
I agree. Flashtool just gives problems.

Flashtool just works better on Linux... It will produce lots of redundant files on Windows. So if you only have Windows, try using a virtual machine. It works fine with VMware workstation.
Just use Flashtool to install official ICS first, and then install your custom ROM.
Unlocked bootloader, rooted and Installed CM11 on my Xperia S. Now I want to install PurePerformance X and can't get into CWM (lasted version - 6.0.x.x)
I tried:
- Hold vol UP while blue led
- Hold Power and Vol Down at the same time
- Tap Sony logo several times
I installed CWM with Recover X. It never works to go there after I install the system. I can only go into CWM going to Recover X procedures again. Its like its installed correctly but it doesn't stick on it.
You can install a modded kernel too.. With a cwm recovery
Sent from my LT26w using XDA Free mobile app
Can I flash this kernel now? Without the need to re-install the CM 11 and gaaps and without losing user data?
If you only re-flash the kernel you dont lose anything
Sent from my LT26w using XDA Free mobile app
This would be the kernel to flash, right?
http://goo.im/devs/RaymanFX/downloa...Nozomi//OpenSEMC-kk-beta2-oldmapping-boot.img
After flashing the kernel, no need to wipe data/cache?
do you have Xperia S or Xperia Acro S? if you have the Xperia S Try they Development Topic department... because have some issues about kernel to have full compatibility... and i don't have the xperia S.. i already use one to mod to my friend but using the Xperia S Android Development department...
I wish was that easy....
I will just Recover X it again and thats it.
