[Q] Best fully functional stock like ROM for Note 2? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi folks. I just got my note 2 and I really hate Touchwiz so I was thinking of installing a ROM on the device. I was wondering what I would be losing, what I would be gaining and if it's possible to get the phone back to stock ROM after doing so. Looking for most stock like ROM available that is fully functional. I want to make sure that everything works after flashing. Any help and answers to these questions appreciate.

Ha. That's funny i was just starting to read about that. Is it complete meaning that there is nothing that is non functional? Can I get back to stock if I ever wanted to do that? Thanks.

So it's completely functional? I was reading little things like bluetooth audio not working in some ROMs and things like that. I don't want anything not to work. I'll leave you alone after this. THanks

Yes, I'm using 4.9 with AT&T and everything works fine, even the bluetooth, my wife has an Sonata with bluetooth capability and I use it all the time.

Honestly this questions could be answered by reading the first post in clean rom. It's touchwiz based so everything is functional.

^^This! You really need to just check out the development section and do some reading. There is no best rom. Try them out. Read the OP in each one and you'll know what works and what doesn't

AND, questions go in Q&A, NOT in general...

Any ROM marked TW will be the closest to stock and all are the best for those that use them.
Best thing for you is to simply make a backup, flash, try, no like, flash another.
"Best" threads are always closed on XDA as they are too subjective and no one knows exactly what you like.

[MOD] Skyrocket ROMS on Hercules- This covers stock Samsung ROMS

Just Thought id share. The skyrocket roms work on our phone too. Just flashed the Alien ROM just to see. Everything worked fine, granted there was some att crap in wifi settings that is useless to us, but at least we know we can use their stuff too. I also flashed jugs kernel with the rom as Im sure the kernel is different, but maybe not. Anyway, just wanted to let you know. Oh, they just got an ota to 2.3.6 yesterday, ill post the system dump here in a few. Hopefully the devs will move to that base.
*I thought I'd throw a zip similar to what they have together. I think this zip will do the trick. Give it a shot and let me know if auto rotate is still borked. I dont think it will be but I have CM7 setup and working audio so I dont want to ruin that Let me know and Ill fix issues if there is any.
Conversion
*NOTE: This is for Samsung ROMS only. Do not try it on CM7 or anything aosp.
ooooo this is interesting.....hopefully they get some good devs

By the way, the Alien ROM for the skyrocket kicks ass on our phone. I flashed it with whatever kernel it comes with and I've noticed a reduction in the stutter.
It does have a an issue with our accelerometer it seems though.
Mikey thanks for sharing

The Alien Rom is excellent as far as I'm concerned, if we could figure the orientation issue out, it would be just about perfect.

Update my rom

I am running Andi Bones Sense rom, 2.3.4, I was going to upgrade to another rom like UKB, but I see that many are having some kind of problem, and I don't have time for BS problems.
I don't want to be updating every week, or month, so maybe someone can point me to something that works, and has been working for more than a couple of months without issues.
Is there a newer bootloader I should have also, I look through here then I end up not doing anything , because what I have works, what does not work is my browser speed sucks many times, but I think this is a Verizon problem.
Don't refer me to read 400 pages of BS
What a great attitude.
Stick with Andybones stock if you want something that works. Either that or try Justin's SenseM ROM.
Hope this wasn't too much BS for you.

All depends on what you consider BS problems. I'm sure your infinitely busy schedule doesn't allow you to elaborate much, but what is essential to me may not be essential to you. UKB worked great for me for a Sense Rom, but I simply prefer the AOSP UI. I've had issues with the camcorder on most AOSP Roms, but I never use it, so it isn't an issue to me.
I have a small piece of advice for you though. You may see development threads as "400 pages of BS", when in fact there is a ton of valuable info contained within. It's a small wonder that you have enough time to post on here and tell us to help you, as well as time to flash Roms to your phone, but can't be bothered to read a thread to see what works and what doesn't work. Do yourself a favor and stay with Andybones Stock. If you start blindly flashing other Roms, you'll inevitably catch snags here and there and I'm sure people are going to not want to help someone who flatly refused to read any info on what they flashed.
I was going to suggest he flash the Chinese leak that specifically says "do not flash of a Verizon user", but I figured that would be too cruel.

Wow, I can't keep from flashing something new every week.......let alone every month.....there's just so many choices.....flashing ROM's is like being addicted to crack......and really, how long does it take to make a back up, flash something, test the features you want and then wipe and restore your back up if you don't like it..........it's not like you're installing OSX on a PC or something, now thats a chore that I've done on numerous occasions....lol

for those that need really stable (though even the stock rom could be argued against as being stable by some) working roms, they *need* to remain on the stock rom...its as simple as that (or at least stock based roms)
source built roms and rom ports are almost guaranteed to have some issues at some point, and if you cannot deal with that.....
just use stock rooted, and enjoy
400 pages of threads to read one person the camera does not work, the other has not data, another has a virus, someone else has rabies, I would spend days reading that thread if not weeks most likely, and in the end decide, no way.
This is my primary phone, and flashing roms can lead to hours of work.
I am definitely going to stay with what I have now, I don't have the time to play around with roms, there are more important things to do in life.
I will keep reading and maybe try something I like, but I mainly did not want bloat ware, and I don't like control from a carrier on a device I bought and paid for.

These guys do this for fun, and for free. They build something they like, then freely share it with us. To call their work bs us an insult. If you don't want bloat and just want stable functionality, buy an Iphone. You ask someone to tell you what to use. The only way we know is by reading. You ask us to do the work for you. Respect what these guys do. You don't contribute. At least show some appreciation.

If you don't want trouble with apps not working, force closes, and want your samsung s-pen apps to work stick with stock roms. i've had 4.1.2 stock uploaded by teshxx and the thing is smoother than smooth with battery life much better than 4.1.1. I've had the phone since t-mo launch date so I can definitely notice the increase.
You don't have to wipe data either. Just go to recovery and wipe dalvic / cache and you're good to go. Good luck.

Personally, the only reason I would get a custom rom other than samsungs is for the ICS software buttons. Unfortunately, non of them have that option, even the Cyanogen roms. Yes I know we can modify a simple file in the note 2 and I have dont that before but it totally messes up the layout.

I am HUGE fan of the Jedi Master series, it's worth a try if your just looking for something that everything works on that is NOT pure stock.
I've had nothing but issues with the Jedi roms jedi master has echo problem maybe fixed now as I have not used that in sometime. Jedi X data drops. Tweaked is by far the best as its 100 percent fully customizable!!! S4 Themed is also another good one! Those 2 are the best if your looking for a T Mobile based rom.

[Q] Recommended ROM(s) for wifi thethering on the Xperia ARC

As the title asks, I would like to know this!?. Seems all the 4.2.2 & 4.3.x I've tried are iffy at best! Using BeanStalk atm which isn't perfect but works better at WiFi tethering than any other JB ROM I've tried flashing so far!!!

There's your solution - There is no such ROM at the moment. Life's not perfect, deal with it. You have to give up some features to get other features.
There isn't any best rom actually as most roms are different and made for different kind of users. Some users want a feature packed rom, some want a clean and minimalistic one and some just want a rom that works.
To select the best rom you have to try some different ones, and find one that you like, I would suggest you to start with CM10.1 or CM10.2 by Mike and if you don't like it you can try some others.
Hope that my answers helped you and hope that you find a rom which you might like!
I'd recommend starting from the very beginning. Flash stock ICS .587, if WiFi Tether doesn't work properly there.. then you might have a bigger problem there bro.

Arc got bricked but revived it somehow and how, I don't know however the baseband got corrupted or something which now cannot accept firmware updates via flashtool, so I'm stuck on 8x55A-AAABOAZM-203028D-64 baseband version!..
Also some ROMs will only work without gapps flashed, very few ROMs will work properly with gapps flashed, Slim Bean android 4.2.2 seems to work but terrible with WiFi tether though!..
When I flash with a particular ROM a dozen times to get it to work then to find out the WiFi tether is crap or not working, it can get very very tiresome!..
I might just have to go back to GB and lose out on the JB drop down menu features I've come to enjoy using... :'(

Okay there's already several threads on this. Is not easy so patience will be needed. Second requests dunt go on the development section, this is for releases only. So when you port them feel free to post that port in here

I ran it for a few days, no problems to speak of. I just prefer AOSP Roms.

skynote N3 version was giving me problems. it would make noises whenever i answered the phone and i couldnt hear so i would have to reboot to fix it but after about 3 calls it starts back. but that was before the update. only prob i had on the regular version was my contacts names names not showing in my messaging app. but the show up in the contacts app.
Thanks

Well I've flashed it. it's pretty cool except that I can't talk to anyone or listen to anyone in voice calls. Line, skype, viber and everything else is working flawlessly, no problem in getting signals either. I just can talk or listen to anyone in voice calls.
Nevermind
Nevermind, the problem is fixed after installing the ROM twice..
