Here is a sure way to fix your problem, there might be other ways too but they would all be more or less trial and error.
Follow the instructions below.
Here is the step by step guide:
After you have followed these instructions your phone will have the new T999 4.1.2 jellybean pre-rooted firmware
and you will have a clean fresh start with a phone that works properly to start with.
Download the stock-rooted Odin flash T999_UVDMD5 Samsung Galaxy S3 Jellybean v4.1.2 firmware.
After downloading make a folder on your computer's desktop and unzip the
file using Winzip or 7zip so the .TAR file is in the new folder you just made.
Download and extract Odin into the same folder you made containing the TAR file
Here is the link for Odin: http://d-h.st/Q14
Download ODIN which is required for flashing the stock rooted firmware (a windows app)
Download the Odin Flash firmware for T999 Tmobile then copy it to the same folder as Odin
Run Odin by double clicking the Odin.exe within the same folder as the TAR file you extracted
Turn off your phone and boot into DOWNLOAD MODE (Volume Down + Home + Power Hold until phone powers up, then release and press Volume Up to enter Download Mode)
Once in Download Mode, connect the USB/Charger cable to the phone and plug into the USB port on your computer.
You should now see a COM** port listed toward the top-left of Odin (under ID:COM)
Click on the PDA button in the middle-right area of Odin.
Browse to and select the Firmware you downloaded (TAR file)
Make sure Auto-Reboot and F. Reset Time are the only options checked and that PDA is the only other thing checked.
TRIPLE CHECK your settings and that you have selected the correct firmware for your model phone and are using the correct options.
If you are using a laptop, make absolutely sure you are plugged in, or if on battery, that it is charged enough and will not go into sleep mode during flash.
Click Start to begin the flash. This will take a while, so be patient!
Once complete, in the top-left box in Odin, it will say PASS and the phone should have automatically rebooted.
You may unplug the phone and close Odin if you wish.
Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the system to boot the first time and then build its cache!
(It may seem to hang during boot, this is normal and you must be patient!!!)
Good Luck!

I want to know if it is gonna work for me too. I am on CM 10.1 RC2, i tried to update to the latest nightliest and i always got this error: assert failed getprop("ro.bootloader") ...
Is there another way to fix this i don't want to go back to zero and start all over again
Many thanks

This will work for you too, after you are done you will have a stock rooted T999 Jellybean 4.1.2 rom.
If you like the CM 10.1 rom which you have in the phone now you might want to make a nandroid
backup of it before doing anything else.
The process I described in my previous post will not delete any of your pictures, videos or music you
might have on your internal or external sdcard. I would suggest NOT flashing any CM10.1/AOSP/AOKP
or ported roms they are all experimental and are only worthwhile for developers or for those people who
like to do a lot of experimentation.
If you want a really excellent custom rom based on the T999 4.1.1 Jellybean firmware I would suggest that
you check out the Wicked v10 custom rom. It has a lot of features and options and themes not found in any
stock roms and it's about the best custom rom you will find here in XDA for your phone.
Here is a link to it if you want to check it out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804260
If you decide to flash any custom roms I would strongly suggest to first do the step by step in my previous post
before doing anything else.
Good luck!

First of all, make sure that you redownload the ROM, check that the MD5's match, and that you are indeed on the latest CWM recovery.
Secondly, I've heard of these status 7 errors, even when on the latest CWM recovery. There's times when installing certain ROMs where these errors occur, which usually happens when the ROM’s updater script file checks to see if the phone model of your phone is compatible with the ROM you are installing and this portion of the script are called “asserts”. with this it prevents you from accidentally flashing a ROM intended for a different model.
Normally you can fix the issue by installing TWRP recovery but there's another possible solution for this if the TWRP method or the methods mentioned above doesn't solve it, which SHOULD, but take some serious precaution. You need to be very careful and do this at your own risk.
Follow this step by step guide
http://highonandroid.com/android-roms/how-to-fix-status-7-error-with-cwm-recovery-on-rooted-android/
Following this will remove the asserts thus removing protection upon flashing the wrong ROM. Do if you choose to follow this make absolutely sure that the ROM you're flashing is for the T999.
Also, keep in mind that not all ROMs will allow you to do this so it's always important to keep your options open.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium

I want to know what assert is failing.

Here is the link for TWRP Touch Recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1404381&d=1350325570
Flash it using ODIN in PDA slot just like you flashed the rom.
It's the best recovery you can find.
Then you can flash any cwm/twrp roms you like easily.
Good luck!

This worked for me
I was able to install custom os
Thank you very much guys for help

Cannot Flash Or Root T999 S3
Hello all,
I just installed 4.3 through OTA and was not happy with this long awaited update. I am a flash junky and have flashed many phones in the past. The problem I am having I cannot flash the root, it does accept it and reboot, however, when it boots up up it states super ushers in not working. I did manage to root once, but when I tried to install 10.2 cyan mod it failed. In addition I went back to Odin and tried to install the 4.1.2 stock rom and it read failed. My question is there a new root that needs to be installed to over rite the stock 4.3 rom. I did see a pop up come up that read this application has been blocked, I believe it is a new feature for the 4.3, which is Knox. I just want to put a custom rom, this new 4.3 official rom sucks..Thanks.

Someone has to unlock the bootloader on 4.3. There are new algorithms that are preventing installations of custom roms. If I remember correctly, in order to root the phone on 4.3, download CF - Auto Root for SGH-T999 and flash it via Download Mode. Once it reboots, head to Google Play and update SuperSU. Open the app and hit yes when it tells you to update the su binary. The latest SuperSU works around the Knox security. The "application has been blocked" notification will still appear but will not affect SuperSU anymore. It's an annoying notification that can be disabled with another app called Terminal Emulator.
Type this onto the Terminal:
su
pm disable com.sec.knox.seandroid

There is already lots of info about knox and 4.3 in our forums. But if you're going to another rom, there's no reason to root first.
Flash cwm
Flash rom
Factory reset

Hello, thanks for the reply. So, if I want to flash a custom rom there is no need to root. I have also rooted before installing a custom rom. I am currently running 4.3 stock filmware, thanks.

Thanks for the reply and information. I believe you are correct because as I mention in my post I was able to have root access, and I believed I updated super but did not realize I did. Finally, if I gain my root acces will I be able to flash my T999 S 3 using TRWP or Clockmod? Thank you again.

When I tried to flash CyanogenMod 10.2 on the official 4.3 update with ClockworkMod, it just resulted in a ton of errors. The recovery wasn't able to flash the rom at all. I tried other custom roms and the same thing happened. It showed a bunch of letters and numbers along with the word, "bootloader". I'll copy the recovery log when I get the chance, my phone is unfortunately bricked

Did you create a back up? Also is a soft or hard brick. If it is soft brick you can use odin and download the official custom rom from here:
Samsung:good:. Just put the device into download mod.

It's a hard brick. There is a guide here on XDA that should unbrick it. I'm just waiting for my microSD card to get here.

[Q] Can't flash CM10.1 updates

Hello everyone, I hope this thread is in the right spot. I know that this has been asked a thousand times, but I can't seem to find any answers specific to my model, SGH-T999V with Mobilicity (MCT).
Up until about a couple of weeks ago, I've been able to keep on top of the CM10.1 nightlies, but then one day I got an 'get assert failed' message. I used the CM10 built in updater to download the updates directly to the phone. I figured it might just be an odd file that doesn't work. So I kept on trying every few days, and all the updates did the same thing. I found out that I had to update my baseband to VLDLL1 (was on VLAHL2 or something like that), which I did by Odin Flashing the stock rooted firmware (r00t66). I used CWM 6.0.3.1 this whole time, and once that firmware was on I figured I could flash the d2tmo update and it would go smoothly since it has the new firmware. Same problem. Next I installed TWRP 2.5.0.0 using GooManager because I read it was good, and it still does the same thing. I've done factory resets and then tried flashing, but no luck. I spent hours trying to get it to flash. Here's a log of what TWRP says:

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Flash this and reboot so it sticks.

That's got the Canadian s3. Which is what you have, correct? Read the OP carefully.
Then do a clean flash of CM10.1

Just saw. Weird, ok. Here's the US version. On the OP there's a link that'll direct you to the T999v thread.

No not flash the US version or you'll hard brick your phone.

I'm using TWRP 2.5.0.0 if that matters, I was getting the same errors in CWM 6.0.3.1 as well. I do have Superuser and root access in the OS.
Your options are:
1) Download the d2tmo version of your recovery.
2) Edit the update script in the firmware zip file to correctly support your device.

That means that the script is expecting a d2tmo recovery. And it's not seeing it. Because you are using a d2can recovery. You are right, script is wrong.

Which file am I updating? Can I extract the zip, edit the file, and then zip it again? What am I changing? Not sure why d2tmo worked for months and all of a sudden they don't flash anymore?
After giving up for a month I decided to try again. This time I flashed the D2TMO image file of Team Win Recovery and it worked. I had the D2CAN image that was automatically installed by GooManager, and that was not allowing the image to install. Thank you all for your help.
Some time in June they added the asserts for the V and L variants to the nightly builds. I have been running on CM10.1 nightly since 622, I'm up to 701 and am switching to updating weekly rather than nightly, it is a good bit of work and there isn't a need to update nightly for me.
Good to hear that you got it working, the d2tmo should continue to work for your V.

That is true for the bootloader, but not true for recoveries. Not sure why there is a d2can TWRP. Nothing supports it.
Could he flash a TWRP version for d2tmo over top the d2can one? Or at a last resort use adb to write it?

Yep, that's what he did, along with the rest of the V/L users. Having a d2can, or d2tmolte recovery is a good idea. But the people writing the scripts are not adding these devices to their assertions, rendering them useless. You still need to watch the firmware flashing, and make sure what you are flashing isn't flashing a modem also, or something like that.

OK, thanks for this good info.

[Q] E:error: Not a directory

When I flashed a new ROM...(ProBam) something went wrong.
I thought that it was a bootloader issue, but I'm not really sure. I could definitely use some help.
I can, shockingly get my phone to boot and I am great full for that, but it's definitely causing a ton of issues, plus the fact that it wont let me flash anything else now. Not even my Nandroid backups will work.
I do remember reading something about the Bootloader for 4.3 being different...but I'm not really sure if that is the issue.
Apparently my recovery can't find my E:\ directory.
Thanks for looking.

After looking at the Rom thread, I can you that ProBam is not an Alliance Rom. Please edit your post accordingly
That said, I would recommend flashing back to stock with Odin or heimdall. And when you dl the Rom again, verify md5 sums on the Rom and the gapps.
Thanks for the reply. I originally had the alliance ROM and then I flashed probam or what ever is called. I didn't mean for it to sound as if they are the same.

I flashed the stock ROM via Odin.
Now my phone can't get past the glowing Samsung logo. It won't boot up.
My custom recovery is now gone too.
Try clearing cache first, if that doesn't work do a factory reset. Both can be done through the stock recovery

Help With Flashable zip

hey guys I am busy writing a script to create a flashable zip acording to the selections made.
basically it is a GUI for windows. you select apps to remove and what to replace and it builds a zip accordingly.
I am having a problem with getting the zip to flash.
attached it the program and the flashable zip.

Will this version work on my htc one m8 ul_ca? Attempted root with twrp 2.7.0.2 using the all in one toolkit from Hasoon however the recovery was never properly flashed. the screen stalled at download and did nothing. I rebooted and everything was fine but no idea as to what the problem is.

This is the way I did root on my M8.
Getting an error when trying to do an ordinary nandroid backup to my external 64gb sdcard.
Unable to create folder /sdcard2/TWRP/BACKUPS
The external sd card mounts just fine - in fact I created the folder myself to just see what would happen and still got the error. Any ideas?
I can't able to download Twrp 2.8.1.0 my download is not connecting at 99.9%
It will be helpful if anyone give me alternative link please!
Thank you

Where would I go about finding a recovery.zip rather than the .img that they typically are.

Take a look in the link below. Just fyi, using Flashify from the Play store works, too. It allows flashing of zip & img files.

TWRP 2.8.4.0 won't boot.
I've tried to install 2.8.4.0 about a dozen times. Checked the md5. When booting it always stops at the white HTC boot screen. Same with 2.8.3.0.
The latest version I can get to install and actually boot is 2.8.1.0.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mike

You need to update your firmware. Your bootloader is too old for the newer recovery version.

Thank you. I thought I had to install 2.8.4.0 PRIOR to updating my firmware. Makes sense now.
TWRP Issue
I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this problem I have been having. I recently bought an HTC One M8 from AT&T. I unlocked the boot loader through a Sunshine license I already owned. Anytime I flash TWRP after 2.8.1.0, the phone hangs on the HTC screen with the purple texts that says, "Entering Recovery....". I have tried everything I can think of. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
EDIT: I apologize, I believe I may have the old bootloader firmware issue, I will try to update the firmware and see if that fixes my issue.

OK... I'm at a loss. I've Googled and I've read this entire thread and can't find a solution.
I have a T-mobile HTC One M8 and here are the steps I've taken.
Using fastboot, I flash the t-mobile stock recovery onto the phone, lock the bootloader, then boot into fastboot and run the latest T-mobile RUU to completely restore the phone to stock.
I boot, run through the setup and then shutdown the phone. I boot into fastboot, unlock the bootloader (using fastboot) and flash the 2.8.5.0 TWRP recovery onto the device. After I do this, I reboot the phone and it goes through all of the setup steps again, as if I hadn't done it the first time. After running through setup, I shut down the phone and boot into recovery.
I perform a backup of system, data and boot and have it saved to the SD card. After it complete's successfully, I reboot the device and confirm that everything is working correctly.
Shutdown, boot to recovery and I then use the default wipe. Then I restore the backup I just made of the stock ROM. After the restore completes successfully, I reboot the device and after it boots up, I get a "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped working." and after tapping OK, nothing works. If I click the app drawer, it comes up but the dock at the bottom disappears and doesn't come back. Apps don't work.
I've also tried it with the Viper One ROM. Same steps as above, except I install the ROM, boot into the ROM, complete setup, and then back it up from recovery. After restoring I get various errors and apps are unable to function correctly.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help!
After installation of twrp-2.8.6.0-m8.img, I am not able to enter the recovery any more
Tested with installation through TWRP (v2.8.5) and via fastboot. This issue is reproducible.
Anyone experiencing the same issue?

[Root] BQ Aquaris X5 Plus (gohan)

Hi,
this tutorial is an translation from german. Al credits to x.wolverine.x from Android Hilfe.
prerequisite:
1.) activate developer options
2.) enable Bootloader-Unlock
3.) download and install ADB und fastboot (minimal adb & fastboot)
4.) latest usb driver (Support - Aquaris X5 Plus <== Drivers, Drivers & Tools)
5.) download TWRP BQ Aquaris X5 Plus (gohan)
6.) download SuperSu
Let's do it (You do everything at your own risk!):
1.) boot to fastboot -> shutdown your device -> press on/off + "-" Volumekey -> device restarts to white screen fastboot mode
2.) connect to your pc via usb cable
3.) start command shell and check for phone
"fastboot devices"
4.) do the unlocking -> Attention: unlocking the bootloader does a full-wipe!!!
"fastboot oem unlock-go"
5.) boot TWRP
"fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-0-gohan.img"
alternative flash permanent
"fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-gohan.img" <- I did this finally, but for root only temp boot is enough.
6.) flash SuperSu with TWRP
Bye
Ping_2000

Hi,
if still needed, try this:
1.) Download current firmeware (1.6.0) from bq.
2.) unzip the file
3.) boot to fastboot -> shutdown your device -> press on/off + "-" Volumekey -> device restarts to white screen fastboot mode
4.) connect your phone with your computer (USB-Cabel)
5.) start "cmd" (on windows)
6.) navigate to unzip location (for example: C:\dev\BQ\Aquaris_X5_Plus-bq-1.6.0_20161229-1655-gohan-user-1047-FW)
7.) run "8976_fastboot_all_images.bat" <-this will flash the complete firmeware, complete reset (DATA / RECOVERY - ALL!!)

hello there,
I want to flash a new rom to this device but i can't start the phone anymore because it's asking for an old google account that was log into it.In this case i can't acces the phone and activate developer mode and unlock bootloader option. If i try to unlock bootloader with BQ Firmware update tools it say me to add a file to unlock bootloader, but i don't have such a file.
Can you upload a file to unlock bootloader or It's any other way to disable bootloader with fastboot command??
