Hey guys, need a little help. I've been suffering from bad battery life. I've used Greenify to hibernate some apps but it doesn't seem to help anything. I have Better Battery stats installed but don't know how to read it to see what is using most of my battery. I'm on wicked... Don't know if that helps.
I'm coming to the community for help, if anyone has any suggestions or how to read the better battery stats app... Just let me know

There's nothing u can do but wait until the phone becomes familiar with the battery, mine as well died within 5 hours or less I hated it but then I just ignored it nd let it be and we'll I've had this phone for about two weeks nd my average battery life is a day and 2 hours and I'm using wicked as well so just let it settle down plus if you restored apps from the stock rom then u probably want to do a full wipe and start all over again without restoring any apps because the back up u have has the bloat from the stock rom so it eats your battery pretty fast that's wt I did and it fixed it by Givin me two extra hours and also download gsam battery monitor and checks was using a lot of battery...

Then that must be the problem.. Like I said on the previous post, restoring apps from a stock rom could also bring lots of bloat and will eat up your battery so just do a full wipe and there's an update for wicked now so either ways u still have to do a full wipe and don't restore your apps or anything and the rom will be ready to go as well as your battery, I'm sorry but there's no other way specially when you have all Ur apps to your own liking but you have to start clean on it...
And once you have everything the way you want it again delete your titanium back up folder and reboot and then back them up again so once you do another update with wicked it will act properly

what about the user apps we backed up from a custom rom?
I'm off the stock since I laid my hands on my phone so I'm pretty sure the backups (TB) I've made was from a custom ROM, does it brings bloats too?
1 more thing, if you still recommend a clean start, is it ok if I keep the TB backup folder to restore the apps using "restore apps only"?
thanks before, your help is greatly appreciated

I have tried many of the leaked gingerbreads just to find that this or that doesn't work. The best that I have found for battery life and everything works is this rom.

This is the most complete rom I have tested. Good luck

All the info you need "should" be in the OP for the ROM. For instance SRF 1.2 requires you to also flash a kernel of your choice. Most ROMs are EXT4 these days but there are a few RFS ROMs out there. And almost all include a kernel. So if you want to try someone's recommended ROM for battery life, just remember to run several backups first, a nand and something like Titanium Backup.

I liked simply aosp, it was a good ROM. I ran the revolted kernel with it and got good battery life and performance. if u did triple wipes in cwm like u were supposed to, then it would be like starting a new ROM with nothing on it. Are u sure u flashed it right?
Edit: flashing roms on the epic is very similar to flashing them on the evo, minus the cool amon-ra recovery

When modding someone else's phone that it the kind of ROM you want. The one that makes some new graphics and keeps everything else the same. What launcher is on her phone? If it is still Touchwiz, get her to start using another launcher since a lot of ROMs remove twlauncher as bloat. I got ADW for my GF and I use Zeam. It will save you a homescreen nightmare.

well, as long as it works, then you're good to go. i always found that flashing without wiping data or restoring data from a previous flash has a tendency to cause issues with the rom later on. if u do have any problems, u may have to go back into cwm and wipe data as well as the cache and dalvik (3x/ea) then reflash your rom. but again, if it ain't broke... also, kenny said something about the touchwiz launcher... that launcher is included in the simply aosp rom under the "simply settings" app, as are the gingerbread launcher and the froyo launcher. i like touchwiz ok, i prefer the gingerbread launcher over that tho.
I have the latest update from videotron and since then the standby time is just horrible and its driving me nuts !!! I have the t99vvllh2 update and im kinda pissed :/

How about screenshots without the volume indicator? You can also try GSam Battery Monitor from the Play Store, to get a little more information on what is eating the battery.

What's your screen on time.
Looked kinda like liteflow might be causing problems?
Cell Standby i think is the one that is coded wrong and is lying, ignore that one.
If you press Android System in settings, battery it will show you the top components being used
Also in dev options look for and check Show CPU Usage. It will show whats using the cpu in the top right of your screen. Watch for what stays in the top few spots in the list.
There may have been something that didnt like the update. Try first uninstalling apps and if that helps reinstall them clean, no data restore. If you continue to have problems backup all data and factory reset. Start clean.
If all else fails use odin to flash the full LH2 fw.
LH2 should be a fairly stable build. Most have no issues and many get outstanding battery life. Im willing to bet its either an app or the way you updated or both.

That's really not THAT bad for a screen on time. I saw your screenshots in the OP, and you were down to 80% in only two hours of being on the battery, but you had the screen on for almost an hour of those two hours; 20%/hr for the first few hours is pretty normal. It's not stellar, but I wouldn't say it's an epic drain that being said, I'm sure you could squeeze some more juice out of it, and prob is just an app causing more drain than usual.
Also when doing a screenshot, it helps to hit the power button first, then the volume, so you don't get the volume pop up every time.

Are you rooted at all? Installed any custom recovery? i.e. CWM or TWRP. You need to have installed a custom recovery to delete battery stats.
As for the android OS usage, that's very weird. Try searching it up on google and see if any results pop up. You could delete battery stats but not sure if that'll help. If you'd like to know how though, let me know.
If u r rooted and dnt have a recovery, download a app called 'sdmaid' frm store, and u wil get an option of delete bat stats!

JB has been known to use more battery than ICS(At least with the port releases) I've seen upwards of 65%
If you're rooted use betterbatterystats and see exactly what is draining it. A known source of major drain (for me 10% an hour) was an unknown service in /system/bin called gsiff_daemon. It has something to do with gps, but that's besides the point. On every rom I flash, I go in and rename it to gsiff_daemon.bak this will make it so it won't run. I have done this the entire time I've had a gs3 and never once have run into an issue from disabling this service, but I have saved my battery by doing it

I have deleted those two files in question months ago and have no issue with GPS I always get fast locks and lots of sats. I average around 1 day 5 hours on a full charge using Koontz kernel with SIO and Ktoonservative governor with some custom settings. Normally 4 hours of screen on time.

Android system uses more battery than anything else. The core background processes running there must be incredibly draining.

Download an app called Elixir 2. Open it up and touch on "running" and keep on tapping on the right arrow until it says "top" in the middle. You'll then see which app(s) are taking up the most CPU. If its com.sec.providers.downloads, that's the same reason I stopped using Touchwiz roms and switched over to CM. That problem crops up for me randomly and I've tried many different methods to fix it to no permanent avail.
She not on touchwiz...she's on cm10
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Still try the method though. Could be a rogue app that needs to be manually closed. I discovered that the current version of the engadget app gives me that problem, sometimes facebook too.
Is it possible it was accidentally put on powersave Governor? Also clear the dalvik and cache from recovery. If that don't work your best off just wiping. Sheer could either have too many apps or rogue app using up to much of the cpu
