Hi, first sorry for my bad english.
Now to my problem just got a new Sony MicroSD 16GB Class4 card, plug it in my HTC 8s all working OK. So i put my favorit music on it whit the Windows8 synch app. No problem all went OK (the mp3 files are organised and well tagged Artist/Album/year/song title). But now whe i want to listen to my mp3 some of the files ar duplicated or triplicated in the WP8 standart player (tried some alternatives the same) but on the SD card i see just one file when i connect the SD card directli to my PC. Found some posts on MS forum but the problem was whit xBox music cloud but i dont us it got a FUP of 600MB on my mobile whit carier data.
Tried to format the card and synch all the mp3 again got the same problem whit some files again. after i checket the stats of the SD card in the phone and i got some strange numbers:
Its a 16GB SD card class4
It says card: 14.64GB
Used space: 8.09GB
so i went for details and the phon shows:
Music+video: 39.74GB
pictures: 0B
other: -33981857925 B (dont know whats whit the negative size, and its groving by the minute)
free space: 6.55 GB
Anyone got and idea how to solve this problem or anyone encounterd this befor ? Befor i used a 8GB SD card class8 and had no problems but the card died.
Edit: moved the question to WP8 general section as its not a device problem but generali a WP8 problem im not the onley one to have this.

I had the same problem.
I removed everything from my SD card, did a format with WP8 and copied the music through explorer.

Ok, I just got a 4gig Sandisk MicroSD (SDHC) placed about 2.5 gigs of music on it last night and everything was working great. I used WMP11 to sync files onto my storage card.
This morning things worked out for awhile, then, Media Player Mobile stopped seeing the storage card. The storage card still shows up in File Explorer and I can play files individually using the Windows Media Player Mobile, but since it's not seeing the card I can't play songs by Album, Genre, Artist, etc. I tried Updating Library and it runs ok, but when it says it's done the Storage Card still doesn't show up.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I'm running vp3G 3.61
Thanks

my honest answer to this......is that WMP sucks a$$......dont use it man....what you want to use is htc audio manager....its an incredible, stable and versatile program for music, you can try it and keep it if you like it and if u dont just delete it....its free and best of all is that you can still turn off your screen while the device plays music to save battery.....windows media player is very unstable, messes up a lot, and its just plain aggravating....i had the same problem you are havin a few weeks ago....
you can find the link to htc audio manager here in this cab library

I had this problem the other day - first time since November last year when running WM5. I was in a flashing mood so tried various different WM6 Roms and the problem remained - I could see the card in all ways except for when WMP tried to update my music files (It found them but wouldn't add them).
I re-formatted my micro-SD cards (1GB and 2GB) from FAT16 to FAT32 and all is now well again. I seem to remember this was also one of the tricks for the old 'SD card disappears' problem.
You can format through any compatible card reader, or direct on your phone using pocket mechanic from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=300353
WMP does SUCK! and yes HTC audio manager is 100* better...
however the problem i htink you're having is a common problem with WMP, i dont know the reason it happens but IIRC the WMP media DB gets currepted.
this is a hidden file on your SD card called somthing like METADATA or somthing along those lines.
I foudn mine got currupted regularly.
a format of the card will resolve the issue but with that much media to copy off and on its tedious. another solution is to (while WMP is NOT running) rename this file.
next time WMP loads it will re-search your card for media and re-build its DB resolving the issue.
you may be able to delete the file but i found i couldn't due to some file locks or currption im not sure.
OH!!! importantly the built in file explorer wont be able to see the hidden file. i would sugest rename it on a PC, or install GSFiner+ which is a MUCH better file browser anyway. you can use GSFinder to show hidden and system files you otherwise can't see in the built in explorer.
hope that helps... (or switch to a decent media player p

This post is all over here if you would search. I know it is a pain but we all go through it. So go to File Explorer on your phone. Go to the storage card on the main screen of the storage card click on menu show all files and then you will see MSMETADATA folder. Delete it. I had to do mine a few times and then it quit showing up. Just a little FYI. It will work. No need to do ANYTHING else.

Well I tried out HTC Audio Mangager and you were 100% right, this is a much better and UI Friendly Player. I already had it, but never really messed with it much. I was so impressed I went ahead and downloaded the HTC Home Customizer so I could make it the Default Player on the 'Music Tab'.
Thanks for the tip,

That's right.. Though you will need to set the file explorere to show hidden files before you can delete the folder.
What I found out though is that it will somehow mysteriously return... Like when the phone is powered off and some other such.
So what I did was delete the MSMETADATA folder from the storage card and rebuild the library on the storage card... Once it was rebuilt and loaded then I built a PLAYLIST and saved it...
Now when I want to play from the storage card I just go to open FILE and then go to mydevice->storagecard->playlist->myplaylist
No more problems with the lost library stuff (only need to do it again when adding new songs)...
This works fine and solve the problem with my 8525 thanks
Thanks this worked

After syncing windows media player 11 with my windows mobile device (to the storage card) when I open up the libary and select any song it plays for 2 seconds and then moves on to the next song with the previous song having the red exclamation point next to it, I particularly encounter this problem within a created playlist, how do I resolve this?
Music Library
All you have to do in that situation is update the player library if you have alot of music it may take awile but it takes care of the Storage card problem everytime

I was having the same problem, but this fixed it Thanks a lot!!
Hey guys,
I exchanged the original 8 GB card that came with my HD7 for a 32 GB card yesterday. Since I had to do a hardreset, I now have to re-synchronize all my media back on my phone. Now here's the issue I'm having:
Zune won't synchronise some of the videos I previously had on my device. It keeps telling me that it couldn't convert them (error code C00D1192). Now I ask myself why it cannot convert them anymore even though it worked before without any problems. I seriously doubt it's an sd card issue.
Does anybody have an idea?
Why do you doubt it's an SD card issue, when the only thing that's changed since you last synced your videos is that you've changed SD cards?
Try swapping back to the 8GB card and see if the video sync works again.

I doubt that because synchronising all the music files and pictures worked fine. And the issue doesn't appear with all the videos I'm trying to sync. Just with a few. So if it's sd card related, I assume it would at least happen to some other media files as well.
Before I swap the cards again, which means I will have to completely start over setting up the phone, downloading all apps and sync again, I'd decided to come here for help.
I've seen a number of threads mention this, but I haven't seen a working solution yet.
I recently got a new microSD to hold my music on, but whenever I copy music to the card it dumps most of the files into LOST.BIN foler with a numeric filename and no extension. I've used the typical drag-n-drop method to copy, as well as Unstoppable Copier, both through the usb to phone and straight to the SD card. The SD card has been formatted from windows and from android, it doesn't work either way. I've checked for bad sectors on the card, and it's fine. I've also tried clearing the cache data from my music player apps. Non of my music files are licensed, so it's not a security issue. Everything looks fine on the SD card until I pop it in the phone, it instantly fusterclucks. The music files were previously working on the phone's internal memory, and the SD card has behaved like a right gentleman until now. I don't know if I'm just moving them in too big of chunks, or if there's some sort of compatability issue.
I'm planning on moving the files over in smaller portions just to see where its breaking point lies. If I don't find a solution soon I'll likely factory reset the whole thing and try again.

Hi guys,
I've had my N7100 for 2 mouths and i was making photos and videos as normal , but one day i made a photo , the storage was set to the SD card , and then when i took it a message popped up on the screen saying "cannot write file in sd card. default storage is now changed to phone memory". If I make a video on to the SD card the Camera app just crashes, and doesn't save the video .Every time i set ste storage to SD card it does the same things.
I tried formatting the card and resetting the phone but it didn't help. I'm using the stock 4.1.1 rom.
If anyone knows how to solve the issue please let me know.
Thanks!
Still nothing ?
Here is a video I have made.

Sure , from the phone , from the PC i even tried formating it from my Sony camera. It is like this with every card i throw in it (8gd SDHC , 4gb SD and a 16gb SDHC ) I have tried everything and it's still like this
SanDisk are known for short life.

The card i shot the video with is a Kingston 16gb sdhc class 10.
I'm having the same issue
Hello everyone, sorry for bringing an old post to live.
But I think this was unanswered (sorry if it wasn't I haven't found the right post then)
I'm having the same issue, Camera app works just fine, but it won't save to micro SD, I recieve the same message shtepsel gets.
The SD memory seems to work fine, I can browse the files from the phone, and play music normally (wich is in the SD memory)
BUT and this seems to be related, the "Gallery" app won't let me scroll the pictures from the camera (saved in the SD).
Sooo... anyone solved this? XD
Any suggestions?
Shtepsel did you solved this, or just learn no live with it?
I lived with it for a few mouths. Then i bought a new SD and the message kept popping out. 2 weeks after I got the card I did a factory reset , and then all of a sudden the phone started saving photos and videos to the SD card. However I haven't got anything else on the card except the DCIM folder and a couple of .apk files.
i bought a 128gb micro sd card for my htc one m9. i moved all of my music onto the sd card but cannot play it on my phone. is there any way to fix this? ive tried to play it in the music app and the google music app but it doesnt show me any way to play the songs.

yes. when i looked on file manager it showed every song, and it would let me play them individually on either of the 2 music apps but will not let me get them on the apps themselves. i would not let me skip to the next song. i would have to look through all of the songs to find a specific one. it would take far too long.

Strange, may have something to do with the size of the card although I have heard it can accept a 128GB card. Is app on internal storage or SD? If on internal storage, shouldn't be an issue. Also, is music stored in music folder?
Try going to settings/apps/all/music and clear cache and data and then reopen music app to see if it finds your files.
I put all of the songs in the folder called google.music or something like that first and it didn't work, so I made a folder called music and that didnt work. So I tried formatting the sd card and moved the songs again and it didn't work. Just cleared cache and data and it didn't work. Also, when I look at the storage in settings it says there is music on the sd card.
Wow, looks like you've attempted all remedies. Do you have another SD card to try to rule out issues with the 128GB card?
Just buy a real micro sd card instead of the fake one.. the fake one won't work..
P.S. Your question does not relate to HTC M9.

Same issue here, but I'm just moving my music on to the phone itself now and that works just fine. I moved my pictures to the SD card and the gallery app has no problem finding the pictures. It's just the music app that's having difficulty.
Strange that this is occurring. I have 800+ songs on my SD card (64 gigabyte) and the music app finds and plays them without issues
Genuine SanDisk...
Not a remedy for standard player but I can confirm Poweramp works perfectly from music on the card.
Yes, if you don't really need the greatest musics on the go - you can go with PowerAMP.. again if you only need the best from the life, and this is why you have habitually opted for the next HTC, then you won't depart your further amazing without NEUTRON..

I had the songs to work well and suddenly I ran out of songs according to play music.
with another application "ES EXplorer" he can identify the songs and play smoothly.
Still, I prefer the Play Music but this does not identify any music on cellphone

which file system is on your sd card? is it formatted as fat32? it normally should work fine. try formatting it with some professional tools, not windows and try again..also don't format in phone, sometimes it breaks the compatibility...if you already tried on windows but not on phone try it with formatting on phone...otherwise do the step i told you on windows with a formatting tool for sd cards and format to either fat or fat32
Make sure SD is FAT32, try a player that lets you select a music directory such as PlayerPro or PowerAMP. Using a Sandisk 64GB SD as portable storage in CM13, and both these players (in fact many others as well) can see all the files without a problem.
try different music players, or make sure the file formats are supported, or the sd card could be incorrectly formatted?
