Hey
So I just damaged my phone, with some water, though it was not much, and not at all submerged or anything.
At first, my screen flickered, but after a while it just died, and now it doesn't charge or anything either.
Anyways, i'm put it in rice in the hopes that it may be working by tomorrow, but for the time being, I would like to know, that if I was to send it in for warranty, is there a water damage indicator?
I saw this thread, but I can't seem to find that strip, I assume because that is the AT&T/Telstra version, where as mine is the International Unlocked One (S720e)
Bottom line, is there a water damage indicator on the One X? If yes, where is it? And is it triggered by the slightest of moistures, or only if the phone is completely submerged?
Would really appreciate an answer, Thanks in advance
Cheers
There is no water damage lable. We call them LDI, but if there is liquid on your pcb it will be found.

IM confused, what is the LDI and PCB? And where are they?
cheers
Sorry LDI is short for liquid damage indicator and pcb is your mainboard. In short you will not get away with it of you send it in for repair

But the thing is, I put it in rice, so the moisture or water will be gone, but I'm afraid the battery might be shorted, so if there's no moisture, there is a chance they'll repair it?
And also, there is no LDI in the ONe X?
Thanks

2-3 months back I had accidentally spilled water(half glass) on mine. It just rebooted a couple of times and is working fine since then.....

Rice has a way getting into the phone and will be spotted

Did you put it in rice or something?
And right after the spilling, did it turn off or something?
Because mine wont turn on or show any signs of life...

Awesome
Thanks!
Mine had some water on it a couple of months ago, but now the camera has stopped working, (its all green and flickering)
When I send it in for repair, they refused to repair it due to water dammage.
Is there anny way to force them into fixing my phone?

Give them money!!
Seriously, if they know it's damaged by water then there's no way to force them to fix under warranty .

A water damaged phone is always considered beyond economical repair as any and most likely all the parts would need replacing.
Basically it costs more to repair it than it would cost to buy a new phone.. So they don't bother with water damaged stuff. Best way, is if you do damage with liquid, to turn it off immediately and remove battery for at least 24 hours and preferably more whilst it dries (in rice etc or a specialised phone drying bag, you can easily find these online)
But generally, if you try to use it whilst wet it's gonna be short circuiting everything and breaking a lot of things (some permanently and some only until it's dry) which is the mistake most people make.

If my memory serves me correctly the LDI is at the base of the earphone jack

LOL ... the time you need to squeeze out the hox battery is long enough to let the hox drown slowly in his own moist !

So as long as I understand: There is no LDI under the sim tray on Telstra version of One XL, is that true?
I ask this just incase I misunderstanding you.

Edited because I was steaming drunk and it didn't make sense.
So I went out and had a few to many drinks last night. Walking back I stumbled into a wall while texting which resulted in me dropping my phone on the floor and chipping and scratching the phone casing down to what appears to be silver.
Fortunately the phone is ok, but as I'm a bit of a perfectionist I won't be able to rest until It's fixed.
Any help would be appreciated.

Only camera I have is my phone. The screen is fine, would've got chipped if I didn't have a screen protector on.
It's literally just the edges of the phone and most of the purple faceplate.

My guess is well over £100 from HTC.
The only risky thing that I can see in doing it yourself is removing the digitiser.
They could have made the build so as everything is not housed/mounted on to the inside of front fascia though.
Last week my phone got wet through rain in my pocket and the camera stopped working, the water sticker on the battery turned red, but the one under the metal pins has remained white, could i just put a new battery in it and send it off for repair?
or is there some other way that htc could tell it got wet? (its completely dry now everything is normal except the camera)
Thanks
Josh
Replace it with an original battery and tell some story to HTC.

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
When you send your handset in to HTC, they do not need the battery back cover memory or sim card.
So you'll be alright! Provided there isnt a water strip in the headphone jack

Return to a stock HBOOT if you changed it and just flash the RRU of your carrier and send it off, Although HTC do not cover water damage...

i dont know if its there when i bought the phone , but i noticed it 2 days back a small bulging just above HTC logo on back of the phone ...
i think it the heating part of phone ...
i tried to take some pics but cant get to see it ..
check if any body has it ...
That is odd..
The back of mine is completely flat/flush, even when I put a ruler against it, there is not the slightest bump.
I'd take it back to the shop and tell them about it!
I assume something has expanded, like the battery. Take it back before it's too late, as the last thing you want is it getting worse, or something to happen like the battery to suddenly stop working!
Edit:
Could you provide maybe a side-on shot so we can see how elevated it is? Like lay it face down on a table and take a photo of the side, and possibly hold something straight like a ruler, that way it'd be easier to see

Should do, if you bought the phone within the last 28 days or something. You'd get one on the spot I think.
If you are past that, it will probably be sent for repair and fixed or replaced.

Even I have a slight bulge on my htc one x it's hardly 20 days old. I think many are having this issue . Htc should replace our handsets
Definatley a replacement job, nothing like I've seen.
As stated before mine is completely flat.
I really suggest getting that thing replaced. If that has anything to do with the battery or the placement of the heat, it can be very dangerous. I've heard of batteries expanding and bursting. I really suggest getting rid of that phonw, and if it burst when your using it. You can have a serious burn on your hands. Good luck

Htc take note of this . And test it if it's a global problem or not . We've spent a fortune for this phone. Kindly replace all devices with the problem
Have you taken it to a service center? What did they say? Because I have the same problem here :\
And also, do you by any chance use a silicon case? Because (call me crazy, an idiot, a nonsensical airhead, whatever) I suspect that it might have something to do with it
device not dead yet ... the dude is still rolling ...
So I attempted to put a screen protector on my phone that required water and I pretty much fried my screen. I'm pretty sure I need to replace the LCD at this point but is there anything else I could possibly do without having to resort to that? Thanks.
How can you fry the screen by applying a screen protector , it's a sealed unit - even the speaker holes are waterproof.

Hi,
You could try putting it in a box of rice - sometimes that can help draw the water out. Just make sure to cover the 3.5 jack, you dont want rice going down there.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
