Cydia Substrate for Android - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

http://www.cydiasubstrate.com/
for Android
Supported on versions 2.3 through 4.2,
including Kindle Fire, CyanogenMod, and Intel.
While Android itself is "open", the devices that run it often aren't. Before installing Substrate, you will first need to get root access on your device.
Depending on which device you have, and which version of Android, this process differs; we therefore can't provide a simple recommendation.
Once you have root, you will need to install our APK, run the application, click Install, and grant Superuser access to Substrate when prompted.

Interesting

@jd14771: In the play store description it says:
Users should keep in mind that Substrate includes a safety feature: by holding down the volume-up button on your device you can disable Substrate while it is attempting to load these modifications (such as while it is turning on and starting); this will give you an opportunity to use Google Play to uninstall things that might be broken.

Ya I installed winterboard which is a tool that lets you make theme changes and stuff on the fly. Looks like it still has a ways to go. After I uninstalled Cydia Substrate and winterboard my network came back online.

This is as stupid as superuser on an iphone

Lost my IMEI, baseband, etc. Heart dropped when I saw all those unknowns in the about device status.
Fortunately uninstalled the app and a reboot fixed it.

Right now its more of a beginning step this is going to be awesome once it gets up and running well. All the mods you want all in a app not having to browse throughout xda forums or google play I say bring cydia to android. After all the more options the better no? If you don't like it just don't use it lol
Also when I used my network worked fine I was on liquid smooth ROM may 3 or 5 build not sure anyways winter board wouldn't open up however. Back on cm10.1 and haven't tried it again don't plan on till it gets updated

Could be something to do with HTC sense ui try uninstalling cydia and then installing it again and see if that works. Don't know what else to tell you other than to wait for an update

Plain and simple...any type of "app store" shouldn't require root. Huge red flag there.

It modifies the system to run mods. That would be hard without root

If you guys are wondering why the app would need root, just email the developer using the link in Google Play, and ask him/her....

You can also use SuperSU in place of the superuser app and it will do the same thing. (Hides root/temp unroot)
If you think about it, there is usually a reason that an App would specify unrooted only. Rooted basically equals nowhere as secure as nonrooted. So not too surprising a banking app is paranoid about security.

If this made sense why wouldn't they stop me from using a bank site from my home PC where I also have root privileges.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Yeah this makes about as much sense as Hulu only letting certain shows on its apps and forcing you to go to the web for the full catalog.
Even the cheap $350 laptops have HDMI out now, so you can just plug in your laptop and bam, there you go. I have one that the screen went out so it's just constantly plugged into HDMI so I can browse from my TV.
But yeah, back to the original point, your bank is retarded. Not allowing a rooted phone to use it makes no difference in overall security.
Well thanks guys I figured how it all works and yes my bank is retarded but hell they all are I hate banks

Saving my apps to an sd card works for me. I also tend to modify roms via the android kitchen and while at it, place a few apps I need accessible prior to flashing (root explorer, etc).
Well, I've noticed that they don't restore all the time unless you use the same ROM. But even a stock rim misses the occasional app. Titanium Backup works great for me.

Remove your Google account, and just add it back for auto restore to work again.

When your phone is rooted, it knows, and so do the apps. That's why you cannot install isis wallet if your phone is rooted. In the about section in settings, it says if the device is rooted. If it says modified then it is rooted and any app can probably see that. Doesn't mean that tmobile knows it is, but the app does, and it may, or may not report this back to them.

Actually, you granted them access by accepting the permissions. Thats why i read that stuff. And being a developer, i can usually figure out what actions fall under the required permissions too.

it seems more likely the purchase fees will be for the added features. Allcast is the perfect example. It's a CM app on the app store that has a time limit unless you pay money. That's their future. I can easily imagine a CM rom that is basically AOSP, and a collection of appstore apps that you have to pay money for to get the "Full CM experience". Of course, if you buy a CM phone (like the oppo n1), you'd get all those for free.
Or they just collect your data and sell it on their own kinda like Google
