i took some LWP APK , though i extracted the apk, i couldn't get the image, it said the image file is corrupt, so i took it online, and i photoshopped the image then replaced it with the original one, but i can't install the app now. i was never in app development and all, so if someone can direct me it'd be nice, thanks.

it's all fine with the location.
I don't know, it's the first time i'm doing this. I just read some post for encrypting images in apk, that was for developers, i didn't really get it. :crying:
Attached the original apk, i just want to use my own image instead of the three optional, so i replaced assets/textures/background1.jpg with my image with exact same name. but it needs something else to get detected by the database.

First ask the original dev if it is ok for him! There is a copyright.
Second, you can post your themes here and apps here.

My girlfriend has downloaded an image from internet by long pressing the image and then selecting "save image" on her Wildfire S with stock Android 2.3.3.
The problem is that the phone keeps downloading this image over and over again even when it is already downloaded. It tries to download the image about every sync action for over a week already.
Before i just delete the whole history i thought maybe someone here knows the answer to this problem, so she can avoid it in the future.
Many thanks for your help!
Hi, I have similar problem, but with applications. Sometimes phone starts downloading already installed app. Even if I set all apps to manual update only.
This behavior is really killing my data plan limit!
My friend with the same phone has this problem too.
Anyone have similar problem or solution to fix it?
The same with me. Does anybody know how to fix it?
Same here. Must be something specific to the wildfire S
I've got the same issue. I guess it'll go away once I can flash a CyanogenMod or MIUI ROM
Works for me alright
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S A510e using XDA App
It's worth completely removing the offending application and then reinstalling it. I had the download issue with 'LED Light'. Removed it and reinstalled it and problem resolved.
I now have the same issue with another appl - will try the same solutoin
It seems to happen when you do an update which is interrupted partway
We ported this rom on the Aria and had the same issue. I replaced the DownloadProvider.apk and DownloadProviderUI.apk with the ones in CM7 and it now works fine.
Can you offer this for us?

Here are the apps. You need to delete them from your current rom and replace them for these.
How do I delete them without root access? My Wildfire S is not and can not be rooted at the moment

I assumed the Wildfire S was "rootable". That's a very goo question. You can try something but I have absolutely no guaranties it is going to work because I personally never tried it. Either way, it's your call.
**Make sure you back-up your phone to the Google Server because this will wipe all the data in your phone.**
1- Run the RUU for your phone. This will extract the rom to the temp folder of your computer. For me it's under C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\. An easy way to find it is to clear that folder prior to running the RUU. This way, it should be the only thing in there.
2- Enter the folder and look for a zip file called rom.zip
3- Open the zip file using 7-zip or Winzip. DO NO EXTRACT THE FILES ON YOUR COMPUTER TO REPACKAGE AFTER. THIS WILL SCREW UP THE ROM. You really want to make any addition or subtraction from the archiving utility.
4- Extract the system.img file. Now the challenge is to find a way to edit the content of that file. I personally have no idea how to but I'm sure there must be some tools to do that.
5- Once you've managed to open the .img file, under system/app, there should be DownloadProvider.apk and DownloadProviderUI.apk. Delete those and replace them with the ones I sent in my previous post.
6- Close the .img file.
7- From 7-zip, delete the system.img file and replace it with the one you edited.
8- Close 7-zip and follow the rest of the instructions from the RUU.
Again, no idea if any of this will work because I've never been in the situation to make changes on an unrooted phone. Your biggest challenge is step 4. If you cannot get in that .img file, then I guess you'll have to wait to get root access to your phone. My guess is that it shouldn't be too long since HTC agreed to unlock the HBoot.
Good Luck!
And is it possible to change this files in a "running" ROM Image (rooted, without flashing)?

I think so. Like I said, I never tried it so it's all speculation here. How about you try to install the apk on top of the ones you currently have, i.e. without deleting them? You do have the ablility to install from Unknown Sources correct?

Yes i have. But I'm new to Android, so I want to be careful.
I replaced both in system\app folder (without installing) and after that my market doesn't work anymore.
So I had to flash my ROM cause the Backup files didn't work too.
Was a lot of work, making all new (but at least Titanium Backup works ).
Maybe somebody other knows more?

I am a bit confused here. What do you mean by you replaced in system/app without installing? Also, you said you used Titanium Backup. I thought this app only worked on rooted phone
Unfortunately, I cannot be of much help because I really have an Aria with a ported rom from Wildfire S. I personally fixed the download issue by deleting and reinstalling these apps, but in reality, I have no idea if that would work on the actual Wildfire S. Sorry that I cannot be of any help.
My phone is rooted.
I mean I changed the apk files in folder system/app with those from you (using Root Explorer). Before I deleted them I made a backup of the original ones.

Ok, so try this then. Delete the apk and don't replace them. Flash the Rom and boot the phone. Then install the apk from ur original Rom, i.e. not the ones I provided, but the ones u originally deleted.

I already flashed my Phone with original ROM and it works again, but the bug is again there.
The point is, I dont want to flash my ROM every week so I hoped there is a solution to change without flashing again.
Otherwise I will wait, my there will be a fix from HTC.
But I wanna say thank you, for your help and your patience with me!

I'm with you on the flashing. I'm not sure HTC will release a fix for this though. However, what u can do is return ur phone and get another one. It seems not everybody has this issue. I'm personally glad I could resolve it on my phone.

First of all, sorry if i missed the right section. This is my first post.
Also I'm opening a new thread because my question comes from a 6 months+ old thread.
The thing is I have followed this steps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1057132&page=2
and after a few screw ups i finally managed to do this the right way (i was setting the permissions incorrectly), so after a few boot loops, i managed to reboot my phone but to my surprise, the background images weren't changed, i still have the same blue waves as before. Any ideas as to why it might have not worked??
Thanks a lot in advance.

Oh, that's it, my bad, actually I'm not trying to edit any app, I just want to change the background image for the stock themes.
I know I'm not the only one pissed off at how subpar the Samsung keyboard is, and longs for the Stock Android Keyboard. With that said, I set out to try to find a way to get the keyboard installed properly.
I know in the Google Play Store, there is an APK for such, the problem with that, is it just isn't fully accurate. I got fed up with it today, and decided that I would try to give us a stock keyboard.
Here it goes. The LatinIME.apk file was extracted from the CM9 for the i9300
1) Make sure you are rooted
2) Download the zip file from http://jumbofiles.com/7vy8lykubdsc/LatinIME.zip.html If that link doesn't work try http://ul.to/hc0jc9vz
3) Extract to a folder on your desktop/location on your computer to be able to copy into your device.
4) Reboot your device into CWM
5) Once in CWM, go to "Mounts and Storage" and Click "Mount System"
6) Open up the command prompt, navigate to whatever folder you extracted the zip file to.
7) type in the following "adb push LatinIME.apk /system/app"
8) Reboot
9) .....
10) Profit! You now have it as a selectable option in your Keyboards!
This should be more accurate than the one in the Android Market, but I can't be sure, if anyone knows if there are certain dependancies needed to make it work even better, let me know, I'll add it in and give credit where credit is due.

Yea, that one has something wrong with the Autocorrect. I had the issue with it being off more on my GSII as well. I actually installed it side by side on my GSII with CM9 and typed a long text, exact same thing side by side fast as I usually do. It would omit corrections that should have been there. The CM9 keyboard itself didn't omit those corrections.

I'm not going to argue about it, I reported my own post to the MOD's they can decide if it belongs here or not. Since it's modifying system files, my viewpoint was it belongs in development. My understanding for Themes/Apps would be addon's that don't modify the system. Considering people can actually bake in the Stock android keyboard to their ROM this could function in development, or it could function in Theme's/Apps. Arguing about it will get us nowhere.
I am looking for the Tmobile Note 2 Caller ID or Name ID .apk does anyone have it and can post it.
I did a Titanium back up and the folder got put in the internal memory. Did a full wipe to flash ROM and lost the back up .
Lesson learned.
So now I move the Titanium back up to Ext. Storage, flash and then move it back to internal when I need a back up
restored.
But I searched and can't still find the Caller ID apk.
Thanks in advance.
In the OP here (well, post 4 I think) is a zip with all the UVALL4 deodexed system apps - hope that helps!
Thanks :good:.
Downloading now and I will post back if this works.
Downloaded the list of .apks and I did not see the Caller ID or NAme ID .apk.
Anyone else that can help on this?

Thank you very much gang.
I was able to download both .zip and .apk files for the Caller ID Tmobile app.
The zip file I tried to install it from recovery, the installation failed.
The apk file I tried installing it from ES File Explorer, it also did fail installation.
Looks like there is something not allowing the app from installing.
The reason I wanted it back on my devise is I pay 3.99 a month extra to Tmobile for the service.
The caller ID will not work without this file
I will call and cancel the feature.
While totally your call - before cancelling, what was the installation error? I could upload a flashable zip for you with that apk if you would like.

Will try to ask someone later for them to call me and see if it works to double check.

Your file works perfect.
It will be useful for everyone who needs it.
I found out that the TMobile caller ID .apk does not work on Android 4.1.2.
I flashed a stock based ROM and your file installed on showed up on the phone. :good:
So now we know why it did not work on my phone as I am using Jedi Android 4.1.2 ROM from
International Port.
I re-flashed the 4.1.2 ROM as I like it better. Sad thing is no Tmobile Caller ID APP for me, :crying:.
Thank you so much.
I know it will help others and now we know where it works and where it does not.
Has anyone found a solution for this? I need the T-Mobile Name ID app as well since I am running SlimBean.
There is an app in the market that works much better the TMobiles name ID it's called privacy star it's cheaper per month and you can also get one year for only a one time payment of 19.99 I got the one year for only 19.99 it's much cheaper then name ID and it is much better it brings up all names that call you even ones name ID did not show.

Is there still no solution? Can someone please post a install file for the stock T-Mobile Caller ID service/App?

Thank you for the file! Unfortunately, it appears my copy wasn't corrupt, as yours and mine are the same. I have been trying to disable apk signature verification using Lucky Patcher (temporarily to install a modded app), which used to work on Lollipop just fine. Replicating those steps no longer works on Marshmallow. From what I can tell based on research, in order to manually disable it, you are supposed to decompile and modify a few files in services.jar, but it appears those files are not there, so I figured it was corrupt. Reading more now, core-libart.jar seems to be another way to disable signature verification, but I cannot find the file I need to modify in there either. I think I might try reflashing Lollipop real quick, have Lucky Patcher do its thing, copy the files, and hope for the best. Probably not the way to go, but I have no clue otherwise.
