Hey my phone is stuck on the loading screen after i tried to root my phone, if im honest i had no idea what i was doing i was just following a guide i found online and just thought it would all go alright but sadly it went terribly wrong. what i did was unlock the boot loader uses the htc website that the guide directed me to which went smoothly then i went into fastboot mode and ran the file install-insecure-windows from the folder i downloaded called r3-endeavor-insecurebootandroot. my phone restarted and the just froze at the loading screen. i have tried to run recovery and i just get a red triangle and i have also tried a factory reset and that just starts to load and then resets and is still stuck on the loading screen.
my HBOOT-1.39.0000
version-main: 3.14.401.31
Ive looked around alot for solutions to my problem but not found one that works.
I really need help but if im honest i dont know alot about what im doing and i know i should have just left it all alone
any help would be greatly appreciated
Relock your bootloader by fastboot oem lock
Download this file and run it with administrative rights - http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1...-r-radio-5120416229-release-302015-signedexe/
You'll be back to stock.

Since you have already unlocked your bootloader, you can try installing a custom recovery Like CWM or TWRP. You can then download any custom rom posted in the xda thread and flash it. I personally recommend ViperX. Your phone will be better than ever. It seems like you are new to this so if you need my help flashing then simply ask.
You can also follow the instructions on torxx detailed thread

what i don't understand is step 3 the actual rooting when i go to the bootloader and press power when on recovery it now just loads the HTC quietly brilliant screen again and i dont understand how to flash from recovery

The recovery will start after the HTC screen. In the recovery, press install and select whichever zip you want to flash.

Have you copied it from the computer??
If you have, then tap install and navigate to the folder to which you have copied it.

Maybe a bad download?
Try downloading again. If it still doesn't work, try a different recovery. Personally, I used TWRP while rooting.

If redownloading doesn't fix it.. use this SuperSU.zip
http://d-h.st/B2K
ahh you are golden ! that was exactly right i went and found another copy of super user and it downloaded perfectly thank you
just trying to install the viperX rom now see how this goes
am i right in thinking that once i have downloaded the viperX i just place it on my sdcard the same way i did the superuser and then just install it the same way from the recovery?

Yes... However, you have to flash the boot.img from fastboot..
and before installing the rom.zip.. you have to wipe data/cache/dalvic from recovery.... Or use Super Wipe script : http://d-h.st/kG0

I think I have found a workaround for your problem.
If you have installed TWRP recovery then you will notice that their is a check box labeled 'toggle signature verification'. Make sure it is unchecked(whichever works).
If this works then great.
Otherwise I suggest that you download a custom ROM and flash it.(My personal suggestion)
Everything will be fine. Don't worry.
Steps are as follows-
•Download the ROM you want to flash
•Open the ROM zip with an archive manager and extract the boot.img file out of it and place it in your fastboot directory
•Copy the ROM to your sdcard
•Now boot into bootloader and choose recovery with your volume keys and power button
•In recovery wipe data and cache, dalvik cache, factory reset, etc
•Now flash your ROM by installing zip from sdcard
•If this is finished, reboot and reboot into bootloader again
•Connect your phone to your PC in fasboot mode (choose in bootloader with power button)
•Open a cmd in your fastboot folder with your boot.img and type these two commands:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
Then simply reboot your phone.
You can download ROMs from the development section.
PM me if you encounter any problems or need any help.
:good::good::good::good::good::good:
Finally
i got superuser from another source which worked like a dream and got it installed at last, then managed to flash the boot.img in the fastboot. then deleted all the data/cashe and installed venomX can finally turn on my phone after 3 days
thank you all so much for the help its been all really appreciated dont know what i would have done with out it

I had rooted my phone and updated the radio to 1.47.651.1 when I tried to update a custom rom I accidently re-ran PC36IMG.zip and it rebooted quick NOW the radio says 1:39:00:04:26
and in the options below I now have
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
HBOOT USB
I tried putting the phone on FASTBOOT then connected it to the USB and began a stock rom not rooted and it boots my phone into an HTC Black screen Boot mode and begins to update until it comes to the signatures and it gives me an error.
I run windows 7
I went and tried this, connected sd card to Computer with adapter and transferred stock rom rooted and renamed it to sdcard.zip
booted Evo to bootloader and chose recovery.
I as usual got the black background with EVO Icon and red triangle with exclamation mark.
There I click on hold Volume Up and Power until I get the following error:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
Then I click volume up and the following title and menu appear:
Android system recovery <2e>
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
When I choose the sdcard:update option the following message is displayed
----Install from Sdcard ------
Finding Update package
Opening update package
verifying update package
E:signature verification failed
instalation aborted
After, I downloaded tha froyo 2.2 file and placed it on the sd and rename it to update.zip
and when I ran Update.zip from bootloader it ran half way but then stopped saying the following error
failed to verify whole-file signature
So now I load any PC36IMG and I get NO QUESTION to update just puts me onto the bootloader screen….
Not bricked, just stuck. Download stock ruu, plug phone into computer and install. Or put pc136.img on rot of sd, boot into fast boot, it should install automatically. If none of the above, go to a sprint store, tell them it won't boot and you don't know why, and they will flash or replace.

What I would do from here if I were you is put that sd card back in the computer and erase everything on it.
while your at it shut down the phone. Hold down the volume down button and press power. When that comes up post what version of Hboot you have please.
And I'll be better able to help out.
WOw
did you try to reinstall another ROM?
if you still see the RECOVERY menu item, go there and then go where it says update from zip on sdcard. then using up/down buttons highlight the .zip file of the ROM then push the power button to make it run.
this hoping you got a ROM on your sdcard. if not just get one at the forum and download.
i got clockworkmod but im sure the other recovery tools have similar options.
@ adelaney Stock Ruu begins to update and gives me an error when signatures are being installed. I tried three Stock ROMS
RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_release_171253
RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.6_Radio_1.39.00.05.31_release_171253_signed

Ok here's the deal. If you have nan unlock, fully rooted then you should have a nandroid back. If you do then boot into recovery and no a nandroid restore. This should boot you to one of your pervious backup/ system state.
Please note.
If you are fully rooted u should always do a nandroid backup before you flash any update, that way u can do a restore in the even something goes wrong.
http://WWW.rootznculture.com
Thank you for the information but it was a step I did not do... The tutorial that I went with did not speak about that when I rooted my phone...
EDIT: I even tried mixing files that I have downloaded with various PC36IM.zip and nothing triggers the update question.
Would they be able to notice if its rooted?

Most likely NOT bricked if it boots!
Sounds like you re-applied root but glitched somewhere?
Try root again - may still work?

What version is your hboot - press power and volume down WITHOUT pc36img.zip, update, etc on your sd - i.e. rename it or remove it, i.e. with adb or sd card slot on pc.... See if you can still access recovery?
I've been hammering on these things for a bit and if I can get into the boot screen, it's pretty much good to go...
Hboot-0.79.0000
Also the error that began all of this was running the wrong PC36IMG to begin with... I had 1.4 radio and I think that the one I used had the 1.3 radio so the only thing that helped me boot up again was that 1,2,3 step flashing so I thought that I had to take the second step and that placed in on booter, I have not been able to boot again ever since.... That was yesterday been trying for about 9 hours lol

Yes your just not rooted anymore. Run whatever process worked for you the first time
Try whitslack's method.
EDIT: Nevermind, no can do.
What happens is that my phone DOES read the PC36IMG.zip but it does not give me update option as it used to before. Any suggestions?

Reroot your phone using toast method! That is all! If you are on 1.47 then use simple root!
Seems you have un-rooted the boot me thinks but also read something about mixing radio's causing grief, someone more in the know could answer that... If you can get to hboot usb and try the RUU from your PC? Sometimes taking the battery out and restarting, if communication fails, try it again, rebooting the pc, hell I have no procedure, I just hammer till it makes sense, however 9 hours - holy crap, I'd be foaming at the face!
Ok will do right away and post update

I have done that via PC and the only thing that works with that are the stock roms since they come in EXE they manage to reboot my phone and everything but when the update gets to the signature part it says it fails in the signatures and aborts... any other custom roms that have EXE?

Please note that you are doing all tasks in your own risk.
Preparation:
Download a clockwork recovery img file, for me I had 5.0.2.0 ace:
download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-ace.imgSince I am new in this field, you may need to do a research by yourself to sure this is the img for your device.
The link having box of versions:
download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries
A new ROM, you can look in the dev. page (or you already having a ROM wanna flash)
*You may need to unzip the ROM and zip it in "storage only" mode.
*Put your re-zipped ROM file into memory card (Should be in the root directory). You can see there is a boot.img in ROM, copy it out of ROM and you will need it later.
Backup all your stuffs like SMS, contact book etc... (I had failed in SMS and all my free apps)
Step:
Go HTC dev. to unlock your boot loader, if you have the problem about cmd error (like ERROR command dont exists) in getting token, you should look step 1 really carefully because you forgot to flash the RUU (Wonder it is a popular problem...)
*At here HTC dev. will ask you to create a folder to hold adb.exe, move your boot.img into it.
After unlock your boot loader, you should see the words ***unlocked*** in HBoot screen, so then go to fastboot and still using the cmd in prev. step, hits:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.imgYes your recovery img should put together with adb.exe in the same folder
So then now you have an unlocked bootloader and a clockwork recovery in your unroot device Backup your current ROM with CW recovery AGAIN (just for some accidents if they occur...)
In CW Recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, in advanced page, wipe Dalvik cache and wipe battery stats.
*This will erase your data and CANNOT undo.
Select "intall zip from sdcard", then "choose zip from sdcard", find your zipped ROM file and say Yes.
Congratulations you had successed to flash a ROM BUT if you are the first time flashing ROM on your device (and this is what supposed to be lol). Your device will freeze at the boot screen (which is white background with green words "HTC"). So then here is the last step...
Go to bootloader and enter fastboot. Remeber the boot.img? Type in:
fastboot flash boot boot.imgin cmd.
So now you can enjoy your new ROM (Most of ROMs will take a minute to boot in the first time)
These stuffs took me lot of days to research... It may have another better, easy way. But I would appreciate if there are some thanks for me

I'm desparate, please help me!
I flashed the remove-3-dot for the AT&T HOX, but I have another one. Now I cannot go back, since the device doesn't completely boot.
It is stuck with the HTC figures showing up and halfway the music stops and the device hangs.
I can go to recovery, but since the Àll-In-One Kit from Hasoon2000 doesn't see the device when in recovery (CWM 5.8.2.7 Touch), I cannot even put anything to the SD card, so I cannot even flash anything else!
Please help me before the battery dies out!! (I cannot turn it off since lonng press of the power button only restarts the booting)
If you have CWM did you made a nondroid backup?

THIS will help you
@muamers: Thanks!!
I already found out how to turn the device off, not draining the battery anymore.
I also flashed the new CWM 5.8.3.1 so it should have some ability to charge.
I am currently downloading the latest stock 1.29.401.11 and will try to flash that one.
I did search, but it's difficult currently. However, I made a permanent link to the Wiki - it's more than useful (the reason it exists, I know...)
Oh - it wasn't bricked (because it still did some stuff)
@jeyml: No, I did not do that (didn't know it was possible)
Does that mean that I could recover with the rom exactly as it was put on the device? (including installed ZIP files)

Yup.It is actualy quite simple,i always do a backup before i flash something or update my ROM and other stuff. You keep the volume down + power button. After that you enter recovery mode (you will need to have CWM) and you have an option there "backup and restore",enter there and make a backup.Next time if you have any problems just enter again in the CWM,go to "backup and restore" and restore the backup you've made.It saves everything you have (i mean the ROM setting and such.Apps and other stuff must be backed up with Titanium Backup).
The backups you made are saved in the SD card in the nandroid directory if i remember corectly,so if you update you're ROM to...1.29 for example and have a 1.28 backup just enter there and delete it and make a new backup of the 1.29 so you don't get confused in so many backups and if you ever have problems and restore a 1.28 backup on you'r 1.29..well...you realize that the phone isn't going to work anymore. So,be carefoul.
Didn't work... I downloaded this rom: RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.29.401.11_Radio_1.1204.105.14_release_260491_signed
did everything this page told us: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1609190
But I do not see anything change... It's still stuck in the boot process.
I don't know what I am doing wrong...
I also didn't find a clear guide for how to do things - it's all pieces which everyone has to put together, making it hard when there is a real problem.
If this can be solved, I will investigate the nand backup for certain!
For now I need my phone, but it does not work...
Oh - how does the charging with the new clockwork work? I don't see anything happen, so I am afraid the battery will be down soon.
edit: It was on power all night and when I looked it had the screen on. Unplugging and replugging and the gren light went on. Does that mean the battery is filled?
One important fact: the adb command cannot find the device and I don't know why!
How did you flash the RUU? You have to connect the phone in FASTBOOT to the PC and then run it (with a locked bootloader) and it replaces the entire system

Mine is unlocked...
I will try to relock the boorloader (saw somewhere a snippet)
Tried with a locked one:
Code:

... INFOLock successfully...
OKAY [ 0.143s]
finished. total time: 0.143s
D:\One_X_All-In-One_Kit_v1.0\Data>fastboot flash boot boot_signed.img
sending 'boot' (4288 KB)... OKAY [ 0.667s]
writing 'boot'... FAILED (remote: not allowed)

sending 'system' (963584 KB)... FAILED (remote: (00000008))
finished. total time: -0.000s
The bootloader loocks relocked ok (as it shows on top of that screen)
But flashing is impossible and, of cause, I don't know why
Adb will work in recovery but only if you boot the recovery from fastboot.
Fastboot boot recovery recovery.img
ok, next approach:
- Booted to fastboot
- unlocked bootloader with the unlock .bin file
- fastboot boot Recoveries\CWM5.8.3.1.img
- adb push rom.zip /sdcard/
- waited 5 minutes until done
- in recovery: Install zip from sdcard
- manual selected the rom.zip (yes, it was actually on the SDcard, so adb did its job)
- got an error that the image was bad:
ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.3.1
-- Installing: /sdcard/rom.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/rom.zip
I think I will have to get another image, right?

RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.29.401.11_Radio_1.1204.105.14_release_260491_signed.exe
I started the program and searched for the rom.zip in my temp folder. Was this ok?
Run .11 RUU, wait until load all completely, now go to %temp% in your pc and find a folder that contain a ROM.ZIP file... Unzip the files and flash the boot_signed.img and the recovery_signed.img, then relock your phone fastboot oem lock) do a factory reset (with the new recovery) and then try to run the .11 RUU.
THAT SHOULD WORK
pd: sorry for my poor english.

ok, next approach:
- Booted to fastboot
- unlocked bootloader with the unlock .bin file
- fastboot boot Recoveries\CWM5.8.3.1.img
- adb push rom.zip /sdcard/
- waited 5 minutes until done
- in recovery: Install zip from sdcard
- manual selected the rom.zip (yes, it was actually on the SDcard, so adb did its job)
- got an error that the image was bad:
ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.3.1
-- Installing: /sdcard/rom.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/rom.zip
I think I will have to get another image, right?

You haven't a clue have you?
You don't flash an RUU from CWM, it's a Windows application!
1. Boot phone into FASTBOOT
2. Connect to the PC
3. Lock the bootloader
4. Run the RUU
Job done
@wolfraim: Yes, the factory reset was the one culprit, it seems!
EddyOS: Tried that so many times, but finally wolfraim added a crucial point: Factory reset!
Now the RUU install from the PC is working... (Have to wait for some time ...)
* I have to go for now, right after the flash is done.
When I've got the time, I will try to make some more notes and maybe another step-by-step story on how to make the device work again.
Thank you very much for your patience and help!
This is why I love the xda-developers site so much!
(and all possible ways included on XDA to brick my device is the reason why I hate xda sometimes... )
edit: Flashing has succeeded! Software number: 1.29.401.11, so it seems I also have the latest ROM update now.
I'll make a recovery backup asap and will try the titanium backup too.
Oh, this one is SU-locked of cause, so I will have to install the SU zip file again... Much work is to be done yet. Maybe I should look for a good ROM in the Android development area.
Fairly noobed to android so need a little help (teething) haha,
I've tried to install a custom rom for my one x unlocked boot loader and installed clockwork mod touch recovery, downloaded android revolution hd and moved wipe script and android revolution zip to sd card, flashed the boot.img and run wipe script no problem.
But when I go to install the zip file I get greeted with
finding update package>opening update package>installing update>installation aborted... then nothing. If I reboot the phone the phone stays in the htc quietly brilliant screen.
Please anyone! Help a fella out, crack this and I'll be forever in everyone debt. Thanks.

Try to disable the signature check and see if you're able to install it.
Your Rom zip files is corrupted. You have to verify md5 value and then you have to flash.
Goto fastboot and just flash the stock kernel.

Tried disabling the signature check with no luck same thing happens..Do you know where could I get the stock kernel from? Thanks again for your patience it is greatly appreciated!
When i try to Flash the stock rom i get this message
sending 'flash' (9792 KB)... OKAY
writing 'flash'... FAILED (remote: not allowed)
xx-xxx-xx-22:bootloader connor$

Use the automated batch file in ARHD Thread. Like he said it might be a bad download. Re-downloaded it and test it again.
Tried downloading the stock kernel again and same story... How do I use the automated batch file you mentioned? thanks..
Are you trying to flash a .zip in fastboot? What file have you renamed 'flash'?
I haven't renamed any files flash I've just been trying to flash the .zip file...Its been a major fail so far, thanks for everyone patience..

Re-download the file to PC
Send file to sdcard
Remove usb cable from HOX
Try again
Hope it helps
I can't get back into the os to move the files over to the sd card, every time i reboot I get the htc quietly brilliant screen...
after i download the file should i rename anything to get it to flash properly from fastboot? I can't get back into the os so i'm in bootloader trying to fix it..Cheers
Go to Bootloader select Fastboot
Download http://www.androidrevolution.nl/downloader/download.php?file=Flash_boot_6.0.0.rar and extract it. Then run the batch file.
Then go into Recovery and your SD card will be automatically mounted to your PC in Recovery mode
So copy the ROM and flash it again.
Make sure you don't select any custom settings on the first boot.
It still looks like your trying to flash a .zip in fastboot.

This. ^^^
Sending 'flash'.
What command did you write to get this error. And what was the filename and extension. It would really help to know what you tried to flash.
I had the same issue on Wednesday where I ran the wipe script then tried to flash the rom and it turned out to be a corrupt download (failed to follow instructions to my peril).
To resolve all that was needed was to re-download the rom, mount the sdcard and copy it over and reattempt the flash. In my case I couldn't mount the sdcard at first, so if you are having issues here I solved it by updating recovery as per this thread "[RECOVERY] TeamWin Recovery Project (twrp) 2.1.7 [2012-06-04]"
under the "One X Android Development section"
To send files to your sd with no os, either install the new recovery that has usb support or use
Fastboot boot name.IMG (this is recovery IMG)
While booting from fastboot like that it allows adb to be used then Just push
adb push Rom.zip /sdcard
That will push the Rom to sd then just install as normal.
You will need the adb files easy enough to find on google.

Hi
I am completely new to developing and have managed to brick my HTC One X.
I need to record calls as part of my job so i tried to follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663642
However, somehow i completely bricked my phone and i didnt make any back ups.
So far i have managed to do the following:
1. Unlock the phone via HTCdev
2. Get to the fastboot screen
3. fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img
4. fastboot flash boot boot.img (from the file 3.16.110.4 which aparantly is the correct file according to CID TMOB-005)
5. fastboot erase cache
6. Then reflash recovery 'fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img'
After the above steps, my phone is now stuck on the HTC Quietly Brilliant screen.
I have been reading threads for the last two days but nothing seems to be working which is probably due to my lack of understanding.
I would be grateful for any assistance.
Thanks

you don't need to flash recovery twice. are you trying to get it back to stock or do wish to install a custom rom?

okwell decide which rom you want and download it, once it's downloaded double click the zip and copy the boot.img then paste it into your fastboot folder. next copy the rom to your sdcard, to do this start recovery and select mount usb storage then copy the file from pc to sdcard. now start bootloader and fastboot erase cache, then fastboot flash boot boot.img, then again fastboot erase cache. then go back into recovery and flash the rom. when its finished flashing wipe the cache and dalvic cache then reboot

I took your advise to look at the guide again. However, I have checked for an automatic install RUU but there isnt one available for my phone.
I have to download the correct RUU onto my PC and follow some instructions similar to yours for the Custom Rom. However, when i install the zip from the SDcard, it states the below error:
-- Installing: /sdcard/3.16.110.4.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Cant open /sdcard/3.16.110.4.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted
Do you know why this is happening.
I have tried it now with a 3.16.110.4.zip & filmware.zip (for my phone).
Thanks for your help.
