i rooted my galaxy nexus last night, and today i was trying to put a rom on it, i went to wipe the cache, and now it wont boot past the google screen and im freaking out!
Before you flashed did you wipe system? Huh I bet not even so you only mention wipe cache....what about data , dalvik ?
Did you read directions in the op for the ROM?

it told me to wipe to factory, i tried doing that and it just froze, and now it wont boot. im trying to figure all this out but im a little over my head unfortunately.
Try booting into recovery and then wiping and flashing your ROM
i was trying to flash the codename android 1.6 rom, i cant post the link it wont let me
when i boot into recovery mode, it shows a droid with its chest open and a red exclamation point
I've never heard of that ROM but in fastboot will it let you use your volume and power keys to navigate to recovery? If not, try using fastboot commands on the computer to get into recovery (if you can? I'm not too acquainted with fastboot commands)
i can get into recovery but then it shows the droid with the red alert

That's fastboot. Try looking into fastboot commands and see if any command will let you boot into recovery from there.
You buggered the boot image... Just flash it again, via fastboot...
They are normally in .Franco kernels...
you mean through terminal and stuff? my knowledge to this stuff is still pretty basic so im trying to grasp all of this

Yes. Fastboot is used, in CMD (Windows) Gnome terminal (Ubuntu/Linux distributions) and the Mac OS terminal...
You need to install the ADB drivers and download the fastboot/adb files first, though (Check the Windows 8 thread (In my signature), all you need is in there...
Or, download a .Franco kernel (Check the developement section, for your device (GSM/verizon/Sprint) and search the forum...
i did fastboot and all that stuff on my laptop at home(the one i rooted it with), do i basically need to redo all of that?

No, that is not fastboot. That is recovery. He has the stock recovery flashed, which is the Android lying on its back with a red exclamation point.

You need to flash CWM before you do anything else. Get it from the link in my signature and flash it in fastboot. Then boot into CWM, do a wipe, and re-flash the ROM you want.

No, he hasn't been there, and obviously you didn't understand that.
If he sees the Android lying on his back with the red ! then he has the STOCK recovery flashed, not CWM.

CWM is flashed, it's installing CND (Or has installed) but whatever we do, it's a bootloop. lol) I'm doing everything, with him, whilst he's at work, via TV ^^

Ah, ok! None of that was mentioned in the thread. Had no idea that you were helping him -- I thought you were helping him in this thread.
Hey, I was stupid and tried to install a rom without factory-resetting my kindle. Now I am stuck at the splash logo boot loop. I tried the unbrick utility, but it can't find my kindle. I have access to fastboot commands, but not adb. Don't ask me why, I just can't use adb. I don't know how to restore my kindle to a working state. I have a fastboot cable available. Thanks in advance. Im a noob btw.:crying:

Kindle fire 2 bricked
Neeshers said:
I'm guessing it's looping from the kindle fire screen not the cm10.1 screen, correct? If so, you can use the command, "fastboot -i 0x1949 -w". That will wipe userdata and cache. But if it's looping without even loading the rom that's probably not going to fix it.

Ok, I am now not stuck on the splash logo. i reflashed the recovery and boot partitions and now it is trying to boot, but there is currently no os installed. Is this a good sign that I can fix it? I am in slc for the weekend and cant flash the system partition yet.
Another question. I tried installing twrp on my recovery, but i cant boot into it. it wont show the blue logo. do i need an os installed to use it?

Yes. os MUST be installed for our recovery to function. Specifically a file called 'stack' has to reside on the system partition

What do I do?
Sounds like a bad download. Redownload and adb sideload from pc

i got similar problems. rooted it, but i got afterwards some problems with superuser applications. ran sveral rooting methods, but at some point, it stucked now with the orange "kindle fire" logo.
tried also to use different recoverys (kindle-fire-ultility2, KF2_SRT_10.2.3) but nothing helped. i cant reach the device anymore. adb says: no device in list and fastboot: <waiting for device>
actually i use the supplied cable. or am i wrong to use it for fastboot. thought the supplied one is similar to the special fastboot cables from e.g ebay
/edit: sry, just realized after reading the FAQs, that the factory cable is a different one. sorry.
I as flashing smoothrom and tried to reboot.
TWRP said their was no os installed but i stupidly rebooted anyway, now theirs no os and its bootloops.
I have a factory cable.
Ichigo said:
Be careful what you flash. SmoothROM is not a ROM for kf2.
Best bet would be to use the factory cable to reinstall recovery.

How can i flash recovery from fastboot?

Is their any way i can fix it with just fastboot?
Does anyone know of a way to fix it?
I was attempting to unlock/root and long story short, now I have TWRP installed, and I can get to FASTBOOT but if i try to boot normally I get the Nexus logo, and no further. When I unlocked, I installed TWRP then loaded it. After leaving TWRP it said 'Seems you are not rooted, want to root"? or something to that effect. I clicked YES and now I'm stuck. Since I had just unlocked it, it *should* have reset my entire device(which was all stock anyway) so I am not sure what went wrong. I have been trying everything I know but I'm now out of ideas. Would appreciate any help. I see now that the version of SuperSu that it would have pushed would have been wrong, would that be preventing the tablet from booting?
If you can mount in fastboot you're not bricked. You tried to check md5 and push the recovery image again? And also try to throw new ROM on it.

It wont boot so I don't know how to put anything on it, it's empty and doesn't show up in windows. Also I don't know what you meant exactly by push the recovery image again. Twrp is working fine. Sorry I am hardly a pro at this stuff.

Then it should be possible to flash and push recovery and ROM to device even get a stock image back.
Which recovery image did you install?
And did you flash any ROM or kernel?

I would suggest you just restore your N7 back to stock. No need for root yet, seriously! But this should help get you going in the right direction.
Power it off completely. Hold Power + Volume down until it boots into the bootloader. Run the following commands:
fastboot devices (to confirm you are connected)
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
If you haven't unlocked your N7 yet, run fastboot oem unlock first.

I put TWRP on there, immediately after unlocking. So it should have been completely stock since as far as I know it wipes it when you unlock. After putting TWRP on there, i told it to reboot normally(from within TWRP) and it detected that I was not rooted and asked me if I wanted to install SuperSu. I said yes and now it will not boot to the operating system. It boots fine to Bootloader and Recovery. And I am certain it's connected to my PC because I can even tell it ADB REBOOT BOOTLOADER/RECOVERY and that works. But I don't see how I can load a ROM onto it if I can't access it via windows. I don't know how to get a ROM onto the SD card. Surely there could be a way but I don't know it.

Start over by downloading recovery, Superuser and a clean stock rom image.
But before that you could try to reset all data in recovery (factory reset) and cache if you haven't tried.

Sorry posted in general by mistake:
Some info,
I unlocked the bootloader and installed twrp.
I restarted the device and everything was working. I then entered twrp but I forgot to place supersu binary on hte device so I thought to use adb sideloading to get it on...
Thats when my phone got bricked. It failed (saying something about adb server wrong version then adb client);
I disconnected my phone but now it wont turn on/off, charge or do anything.
Any ideas? I tried charging it, tried going back into fastboot but no response.

When you charge it using a DC adapter, does it blinks red light?
Or, does the computer show anything when you connect your phone to it via USB cable?

Ok after waiting a long time (i presume draining the battery) and recharging the phone I can acces the twrp recovery. However I cannot start the phone itself, it always boots into recovery.
Thinking of ways to fix my phone i flashed a rom (from here) to see if that fixes it but it still only boots into recovery.
Any ideas?

Yes. Recovery is the only thing that works. I hold the three buttons at the sane time and it boots iqnto twrp. Reboot system, reboot bootloader doesn't work. It just boots into recovery again and again.
It all happened when I was taking the backup of the stock ROM. The recovery had some bug which prevents it from turning on the screen after screen timeout. Then it was bricked.
I didn't try flashing any rom zips, since there's no ROMs for this device and I can't find a stock ROM anywhere.

Recovery boot loop occurs whenever you reboot directly to the recovery. Always boot to recovery from fastboot (menu) and you can avoid recovery boot-loop in future.
Anyway, what is your device model...OS build..Lollipop?
