Is there a way I can disable S Voice? I wish I could replace it with Google Now, but if I could at least disable it I would be happy. I keep pressing the home button through the cover and start the S Voice app by accident at the worst possible and most embarrassing times. It's driving me berserk! :banghead:
Edit: never mind I got it. I unchecked everything in the S Voice settings menu after I launched S Voice and now when I press the home key I get the Google Now voice search prompt. Exactly what I wanted. (I'm also using Nova launcher, not sure if that also helps. )

Just go into settings, App Manager and S Voice and hit disable. If you ever want it back you can enable.
I have just the thing for you. Go into s voice settings and disable "open via the home key", then download "Home2Shortcut" from the play store. This application allows you to open any app through a double press of the main home key. I.e. Google now.

It's annoying for people you don't want to screen. I believe you can set it as an option in your Google voice settings. You can turn it on/off for everyone or just particular groups. Look under 'Call Settings'. I've attempted to turn it off for 2 groups, but I don't think I've got it sorted all the way out yet, so this may not work.
You can turn it off but you have to do it from a pc as far as I can tell.

Ya must be done on your home computer under Google voice settings.

From your PC, login to your google voice account, then to disable it go to the "Voice settings", click on the "Calls" tab, and then where it says "Call Screening" choose "Off"...
is there a way to make Google now voice search the default app for double clicking the home button instead of s voice? I tried clearing s voice default but it didn't have any. I tried disabling it but then Google dialer stepped up and I couldn't find it in the apps menu...
I don't like s voice because it doesn't understand my accent and it can't do some things...

Use a different launcher such as Nova. You can change the home button and menu button. I have my Menu button set as Google now voice search when i long hold the button. The home button if i long hold i have it set just to do regular Google now search.
nova settings > gestures and buttons

This is what I've been using.

Set that as your default launcher, then set whatever you want for single and double home presses within Home2.

I don't even bother with this. If I want GNow, I just long press the menu button and tap "G". Two taps instead of one. Whoopty doo.

Works fine for me...
You still need to turn off the option in S Voice so it's not listening for the double tap.

I assume you mean me by "the other guy" I just read my comment and I realized that I made a mistake.
Of course I meant "long press HOME" button.
My bad. Sorry.

Completely replace the voice!
I read all your comments you guys. But what I think what he means is that he wants to completely replace the actual voice in the Svoice stock app that came with the phone to the voice that Google now has. The way I have it is to do nothing when double pressing the home button. Since the 4.1.1 update dropped for all S3's, it came with Google now installed with the Google search bar widget. Well, I was wondering the same thing on how to remove the voice from S voice, and replace it with Google now's voice. Cuz I really don't like the custom voice integrated with with the s voice app. I like Google now's voice way better. And it sounds more human-like than than the "so called" Siri and S voice put together. If anybody knows how to do this, post your instructions! Cheers!

I've solved it since. I have one of two ways to do this.
1. disable svoice's double tap home to open from I'd settings, then instal home 2 shortcut from the app store. this did it for me, however I like the second one better
2. I also needed an easier way to use the buttons with the s pen like home and back so I enabled on screen keys and modified the key layout to disable menu and back hardware keys and made the home key a search key. now I have home, back, menu and recent apps buttons on screen and the home button is a regular search so when I long press it I get ASKED! What voice program I want it to handle...
hope this helps

Google Search can't open apps nor send messages. What if you're cooking and u wanna be hands free? That's why I stick with svoice. But I don't like her voice. Can u replace the VOICE instead of just button pressing?

Double tap the home button to open s-voice, then go to settings of s-voice. Then go to control apps. I believe that is what your looking for.

You have to have vibrate turned off too, which makes it a no go for me.

Thanks I found it.
Very annoying that text pops up telling you that you can use voice commands within camera, alarm, when a call comes through etc.

I brought this up a while back when the s3 came out.. There has to be a way to modify it to work also when on vibrate.
I keep my phone on vibrate around 80% of the time so I can never use them either.
But I have found out that the voice commands still work on camera even with vibrate on, which leads me to believe it can be enabled on the other commands some how ... I don't know how to program and all that but I would be willing to help in anyway to get it working on vibrate mode

Apologies if this has already been posted but trying to search on the Tapatalk app is next to useless!
Is there a way to get the double press of the home button to launch Google Now rather than S Voice?
I'm rooted and on Android Revolution 4.
Thanks.

You can change a number of behaviors with Apex launcher to launch Google Now-home key action, pinch in, swipe up, swipe down, and desktop double tap. Other launchers allow you to make similar changes. I would think with all those options you could find a more convenient behavior for launching Google Now. You can also have the Google Now search bar on all the screens all the time or on any screen all the time with almost all launchers. Remapping the home button to open Google Now with a double press instead of S Voice shouldn't be too difficult of a mod since you can turn off the action in S Voice settings. With all the other options I would think you could find a solution without a mod. You can also have the Google Now cards show up in notifications.
Home2 Shortcut can do it with or without root.

Does anybody know if its possible to program the home so a double tap brings up messaging and a long press brings up Google now? If so how could I do that?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
If you are running stock TW then the short answer would be no. If you are using a custom launcher like Apex or Nova there are settings in the launcher behavior section where you can tweak to perform actions.
yeah, it's impossible on touchwiz,
I don't know about the customizability of the button on launchers, since i don't use them

If you hold down the menu button it'll bring up Google now. Unless you're in an app then it'll pop up the search engine. You're on your own on the messaging one tho lol. Double taping home takes you to S. Voice.
