I am a noob when it comes to Android ROM development amongst other things. So here is my question.. Does anyone know how to pull a ROM from phone? Has the method been updated since the first version of Android?

Hey everyone,
I'm new to the rooting world so I just had a quick/noob question. I have a S3 for AT&T ,version 4.0.4 and I'm going to root it and install and new ROM. I want Cyanogen 10 nightly mod rom however I'm not sure if it will work with my 4.0.4. When flashing a new ROM , can you do it with a version that is an upgraded version of your current one? Also, what are the steps for it. I got it all down however I just want to make sure a few times that everyone says the same thing! Thanks a lot.
Hi,
I wanted to know if this version is compatible with Android v.2.3.5. You can flash it. Thanks a lot

Why do you open a new thread? You have one already here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180135 with the same question.
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie to the community of everything rooting and post rooting. I have recently rooted my N7 2013 running 4.2.2 and flashed TWRP recovery/SuperUser by Chainfire/AOSP PA 4Beta ROM.
While I now understands how to update the ROM and how to get out of a bootloop and other similar rooting circumstances, I need help understanding the procedures involved in the below scenario :-
Should Android get an incremental or a major update,
1. Should I first update the Stock ROM followed by reflashing the custom ROM or just wait for the custom ROM to release their compatible update?
2. Should the Superuser have an update, that does have to be updated from Play Store or the update needs to be flashed? Also, does TWRP needs to be updated if there's an update because I have heard that some ROMs are compatible with recoveries from a specific versions? Is this true?
3. Is updating radios really necessary? Will updating the radios cause it to malfunction? What is the procedure if this needs to be done?
4. What do I do if I wish to chuck the custom ROM and return to stock ROM or what is called un-rooting?
If there's something I missed out on asking but needs to be done, please point me in that direction as well!
Thanks
Regards
Karthik

I am sorta a noob but i know some things about root. I dont do anything without researching first. Any questions or guidelines for me?

Just follow the instructions in the ShinyRom thread here
forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-nexus/development/rom-6-4-14-shiny-rom-ota-stock-android-t2642375
and you won't have any troubles upgrading your ROM. It's easy and as you already have ShinyRom installed there shouldn't appear any problems!
Hey all,
Somehow i couldnt reply in the thread about the rom i want, so i'll try here.
I want to update to this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2689304
I currently run MIUI-3.8.2 (android 4.1.2 MIUI v5 Beta 3)
I want to keep all my contacts and apps, is this in any way possible? Can this be achieved by just a CWM recovery mod backup or should i use another app?
Sorry for my noob questions but when i search for my own answers i get soooo much info at once i just cant get the right answer out of it..
Thanks, Zaxxo
