Do we any 4.1.1 AOSP ROMs? I'm trying to port something but all I've been able to find is 4.1.2.

There is CodeFireAndroid ( I think that is what it is called? ) In the original development section...
It was 4.1.1.1.1.1 At one point.
Now I think I know what you were working on . . .

My Bad, It was CodeFireX.

I think I mixed the 2 ROMS: CodefireX and CodeName Android names lol
Codename android was also 4.1.1 if you can find one of the early downloads.

Early builds of cm10 would fit. Not sure what all changed between 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 but I do t think its was too big.

Not a problem. If you browse compatible roms while in goo manager app, under cm they have up to even cm9 nightlys
I know you know this, and I'm not trying to be rude, but I would use one of the latest 4.1.1 nightlys so that way you don't get a crappy kernel for your port.

If you can wait a day or two, bbelos will soon be releasing a tool that allows you to run CM9 entirely from the internal EMMC as described on this page. This allows you to leave your Samsung ROM intact, and to reboot temporarily into CWM, boot fakeCWM which allows you to install install/upgrade CM9 nightly zips into a separate location, then you flash another .zip to boot CM9.

I think yes. as long as the devs want port it to GW. just wait, CM9 is about to be Stable since now the camera almost fixed (Video HD recording still in development). just Sit and wait until it comes.

There are a lot of small, under-the-hood changes, but by far the biggest is 'project butter' - the pursuit of buttery smoothness throughout the UI, that you mentioned. Even on the Nexus S it's very good, but it's close to perfection on the Galaxy Nexus.
Of course there's a new boot animation, live wallpapers etc., but the major change is the smoothness. In most other regards, it very closely mirrors ICS

Not at all a noob question, I left the title of my phone in the OP by mistake lol.
This is a rom made for the Galaxy Exhibit from the .23 version of Ehndroix, where the one you folks have is the .10 version of it.
I've used both and this is a substantial enough upgrade for me to justify throwing it up here
